Pauree:

ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਗੜੁ ਕੋਟੁ ਹੈ ਸਭਿ ਦਿਸੰਤਰ ਦੇਸਾ
काइआ अंदरि गड़ु कोटु है सभि दिसंतर देसा ॥
Kā▫i▫ā anḏar gaṛ kot hai sabẖ disanṯar ḏesā.
Deep within the body is the fortress of the Lord, and all lands and countries.

ਆਪੇ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈਅਨੁ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਵੇਸਾ
आपे ताड़ी लाईअनु सभ महि परवेसा ॥
Āpe ṯāṛī lā▫ī▫an sabẖ mėh parvesā.
He Himself sits in primal, profound Samaadhi; He Himself is all-pervading.

ਆਪੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੀਅਨੁ ਆਪਿ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਰਖੇਸਾ
आपे स्रिसटि साजीअनु आपि गुपतु रखेसा ॥
Āpe sarisat sājī▫an āp gupaṯ rakẖesā.
He Himself created the Universe, and He Himself remains hidden within it.

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਸਚੁ ਪਰਗਟੀਏਸਾ
गुर सेवा ते जाणिआ सचु परगटीएसा ॥
Gur sevā ṯe jāṇi▫ā sacẖ pargatī▫esā.
Serving the Guru, the Lord is known, and the Truth is revealed.

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੧੬॥
सभु किछु सचो सचु है गुरि सोझी पाई ॥१६॥
Sabẖ kicẖẖ sacẖo sacẖ hai gur sojẖī pā▫ī. ||16||
He is True, the Truest of the True; the Guru has imparted this understanding. ||16||

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ
सलोक मः १ ॥
Salok mėhlā 1.
Shalok, First Mehl:

ਸਾਵਣੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਅਹਾੜੁ ਦਿਹੁ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਦੁਇ ਖੇਤ
सावणु राति अहाड़ु दिहु कामु क्रोधु दुइ खेत ॥
Sāvaṇ rāṯ ahāṛ ḏihu kām kroḏẖ ḏu▫e kẖeṯ.
Night is the summer season, and day is the winter season; sexual desire and anger are the two fields planted.

ਲਬੁ ਵਤ੍ਰ ਦਰੋਗੁ ਬੀਉ ਹਾਲੀ ਰਾਹਕੁ ਹੇਤ
लबु वत्र दरोगु बीउ हाली राहकु हेत ॥
Lab vaṯar ḏarog bī▫o hālī rāhak heṯ.
Greed prepares the soil, and the seed of falsehood is planted; attachment and love are the farmer and hired hand.

ਹਲੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਮਣ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਖਟੇ ਖਾਇ
हलु बीचारु विकार मण हुकमी खटे खाइ ॥
Hal bīcẖār vikār maṇ hukmī kẖate kẖā▫e.
Contemplation is the plow, and corruption is the harvest; this is what one earns and eats, according to the Hukam of the Lord's Command.

ਨਾਨਕ ਲੇਖੈ ਮੰਗਿਐ ਅਉਤੁ ਜਣੇਦਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
नानक लेखै मंगिऐ अउतु जणेदा जाइ ॥१॥
Nānak lekẖai mangi▫ai a▫uṯ jaṇeḏā jā▫e. ||1||
O Nanak, when one is called to give his account, he will be barren and infertile. ||1||

ਮਃ
मः १ ॥
Mėhlā 1.
First Mehl:

ਭਉ ਭੁਇ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਬਲੇਦ
भउ भुइ पवितु पाणी सतु संतोखु बलेद ॥
Bẖa▫o bẖu▫e paviṯ pāṇī saṯ sanṯokẖ baleḏ.
Make the Fear of God the farm, purity the water, truth and contentment the cows and bulls,

ਹਲੁ ਹਲੇਮੀ ਹਾਲੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਚੇਤਾ ਵਤ੍ਰ ਵਖਤ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ
हलु हलेमी हाली चितु चेता वत्र वखत संजोगु ॥
Hal halemī hālī cẖiṯ cẖeṯā vaṯar vakẖaṯ sanjog.
humility the plow, consciousness the plowman, remembrance the preparation of the soil, and union with the Lord the planting time.

ਨਾਉ ਬੀਜੁ ਬਖਸੀਸ ਬੋਹਲ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਸਗਲ ਦਰੋਗ
नाउ बीजु बखसीस बोहल दुनीआ सगल दरोग ॥
Nā▫o bīj bakẖsīs bohal ḏunī▫ā sagal ḏarog.
Let the Lord's Name be the seed, and His Forgiving Grace the harvest. Do this, and the whole world will seem false.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਸਗਲ ਵਿਜੋਗ ॥੨॥
नानक नदरी करमु होइ जावहि सगल विजोग ॥२॥
Nānak naḏrī karam ho▫e jāvėh sagal vijog. ||2||
O Nanak, if He bestows His Merciful Glance of Grace, then all your separation will be ended. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥

Pauree:

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮੋਹੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬੋਲੈ
मनमुखि मोहु गुबारु है दूजै भाइ बोलै ॥
Manmukẖ moh gubār hai ḏūjai bẖā▫e bolai.
The self-willed manmukh is trapped in the darkness of emotional attachment; in the love of duality he speaks.

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਨਿਤ ਨੀਰੁ ਵਿਰੋਲੈ
दूजै भाइ सदा दुखु है नित नीरु विरोलै ॥
Ḏūjai bẖā▫e saḏā ḏukẖ hai niṯ nīr virolai.
The love of duality brings pain forever; he churns the water endlessly.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਮਥਿ ਤਤੁ ਕਢੋਲੈ
गुरमुखि नामु धिआईऐ मथि ततु कढोलै ॥
Gurmukẖ nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai math ṯaṯ kadẖolai.
The Gurmukh meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; he churns, and obtains the essence of reality.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਲਧਾ ਟੋਲੈ
अंतरि परगासु घटि चानणा हरि लधा टोलै ॥
Anṯar pargās gẖat cẖānṇā har laḏẖā tolai.
The Divine Light illuminates his heart deep within; he seeks the Lord, and obtains Him.

ਆਪੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਦਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਹਣੁ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੭॥
आपे भरमि भुलाइदा किछु कहणु न जाई ॥१७॥
Āpe bẖaram bẖulā▫iḏā kicẖẖ kahaṇ na jā▫ī. ||17||
He Himself deludes in doubt; no one can comment on this. ||17||

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ
सलोक मः २ ॥
Salok mėhlā 2.
Shalok, Second Mehl:

ਨਾਨਕ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਹੇਇ
नानक चिंता मति करहु चिंता तिस ही हेइ ॥
Nānak cẖinṯā maṯ karahu cẖinṯā ṯis hī he▫e.
O Nanak, don't be anxious; the Lord will take care of you.

ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਇਅਨੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਭਿ ਰੋਜੀ ਦੇਇ
जल महि जंत उपाइअनु तिना भि रोजी देइ ॥
Jal mėh janṯ upā▫i▫an ṯinā bẖė rojī ḏe▫e.
He created the creatures in water, and He gives them their nourishment.

ਓਥੈ ਹਟੁ ਚਲਈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਕਿਰਸ ਕਰੇਇ
ओथै हटु न चलई ना को किरस करेइ ॥
Othai hat na cẖal▫ī nā ko kiras kare▫i.
There are no stores open there, and no one farms there.

ਸਉਦਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਲਏ ਦੇਇ
सउदा मूलि न होवई ना को लए न देइ ॥
Sa▫uḏā mūl na hova▫ī nā ko la▫e na ḏe▫e.
No business is ever transacted there, and no one buys or sells.

ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਆਹਾਰੁ ਜੀਅ ਖਾਣਾ ਏਹੁ ਕਰੇਇ
जीआ का आहारु जीअ खाणा एहु करेइ ॥
Jī▫ā kā āhār jī▫a kẖāṇā ehu kare▫i.
Animals eat other animals; this is what the Lord has given them as food.

ਵਿਚਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਸਾਇਰਾ ਤਿਨਾ ਭਿ ਸਾਰ ਕਰੇਇ
विचि उपाए साइरा तिना भि सार करेइ ॥
vicẖ upā▫e sā▫irā ṯinā bẖė sār kare▫i.
He created them in the oceans, and He provides for them as well.

ਨਾਨਕ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮਤ ਕਰਹੁ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਹੇਇ ॥੧॥
नानक चिंता मत करहु चिंता तिस ही हेइ ॥१॥
Nānak cẖinṯā maṯ karahu cẖinṯā ṯis hī he▫e. ||1||
O Nanak, don't be anxious; the Lord will take care of you. ||1||

ਮਃ
मः १ ॥
Mėhlā 1.
First Mehl:

ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਝੀਵਰੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਕਾਲੁ
नानक इहु जीउ मछुली झीवरु त्रिसना कालु ॥
Nānak ih jī▫o macẖẖulī jẖīvar ṯarisnā kāl.
O Nanak, this soul is the fish, and death is the hungry fisherman.

ਮਨੂਆ ਅੰਧੁ ਚੇਤਈ ਪੜੈ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ਜਾਲੁ
मनूआ अंधु न चेतई पड़ै अचिंता जालु ॥
Manū▫ā anḏẖ na cẖeṯ▫ī paṛai acẖinṯā jāl.
The blind man does not even think of this. And suddenly, the net is cast.

ਨਾਨਕ ਚਿਤੁ ਅਚੇਤੁ ਹੈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਬਧਾ ਜਾਇ
नानक चितु अचेतु है चिंता बधा जाइ ॥
Nānak cẖiṯ acẖeṯ hai cẖinṯā baḏẖā jā▫e.
O Nanak, his consciousness is unconscious, and he departs, bound by anxiety.

ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
नदरि करे जे आपणी ता आपे लए मिलाइ ॥२॥
Naḏar kare je āpṇī ṯā āpe la▫e milā▫e. ||2||
But if the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, then He unites the soul with Himself. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਤਾ
से जन साचे सदा सदा जिनी हरि रसु पीता ॥
Se jan sācẖe saḏā saḏā jinī har ras pīṯā.
They are true, forever true, who drink in the sublime essence of the Lord.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਚੁ ਸਉਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ
गुरमुखि सचा मनि वसै सचु सउदा कीता ॥
Gurmukẖ sacẖā man vasai sacẖ sa▫uḏā kīṯā.
The True Lord abides in the mind of the Gurmukh; He strikes the true bargain.

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਹੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਲੀਤਾ
सभु किछु घर ही माहि है वडभागी लीता ॥
Sabẖ kicẖẖ gẖar hī māhi hai vadbẖāgī līṯā.
Everything is in the home of the self within; only the very fortunate obtain it.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਰਿ ਗਈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੀਤਾ
अंतरि त्रिसना मरि गई हरि गुण गावीता ॥
Anṯar ṯarisnā mar ga▫ī har guṇ gāvīṯā.
The hunger within is conquered and overcome, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੧੮॥
आपे मेलि मिलाइअनु आपे देइ बुझाई ॥१८॥
Āpe mel milā▫i▫an āpe ḏe▫e bujẖā▫ī. ||18||
He Himself unites in His Union; He Himself blesses them with understanding. ||18||

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ
सलोक मः १ ॥
Salok mėhlā 1.
Shalok, First Mehl:

ਵੇਲਿ ਪਿੰਞਾਇਆ ਕਤਿ ਵੁਣਾਇਆ
वेलि पिंञाइआ कति वुणाइआ ॥
vel piñā▫i▫ā kaṯ guṇā▫i▫ā.
The cotton is ginned, woven and spun;

ਕਟਿ ਕੁਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਖੁੰਬਿ ਚੜਾਇਆ
कटि कुटि करि खु्मबि चड़ाइआ ॥
Kat kut kar kẖumb cẖaṛā▫i▫ā.
the cloth is laid out, washed and bleached white.

ਲੋਹਾ ਵਢੇ ਦਰਜੀ ਪਾੜੇ ਸੂਈ ਧਾਗਾ ਸੀਵੈ
लोहा वढे दरजी पाड़े सूई धागा सीवै ॥
Lohā vadẖe ḏarjī pāṛe sū▫ī ḏẖāgā sīvai.
The tailor cuts it with his scissors, and sews it with his thread.

ਇਉ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਟੀ ਸਿਫਤੀ ਸੀਪੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਵਤ ਜੀਵੈ
इउ पति पाटी सिफती सीपै नानक जीवत जीवै ॥
I▫o paṯ pātī sifṯī sīpai Nānak jīvaṯ jīvai.
Thus, the torn and tattered honor is sewn up again, through the Lord's Praise, O Nanak, and one lives the true life.

ਹੋਇ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਕਪੜੁ ਪਾਟੈ ਸੂਈ ਧਾਗਾ ਗੰਢੈ
होइ पुराणा कपड़ु पाटै सूई धागा गंढै ॥
Ho▫e purāṇā kapaṛ pātai sū▫ī ḏẖāgā gandẖai.
Becoming worn, the cloth is torn; with needle and thread it is sewn up again.

ਮਾਹੁ ਪਖੁ ਕਿਹੁ ਚਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਘੜੀ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੰਢੈ
माहु पखु किहु चलै नाही घड़ी मुहतु किछु हंढै ॥
Māhu pakẖ kihu cẖalai nāhī gẖaṛī muhaṯ kicẖẖ handẖai.
It will not last for a month, or even a week. It barely lasts for an hour, or even a moment.
