ਸੀਤਾ ਲਖਮਣੁ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਗਇਆ
सीता लखमणु विछुड़ि गइआ ॥
Sīṯā lakẖmaṇ vicẖẖuṛ ga▫i▫ā.
and separated from Sita and Lakhshman.

ਰੋਵੈ ਦਹਸਿਰੁ ਲੰਕ ਗਵਾਇ
रोवै दहसिरु लंक गवाइ ॥
Rovai ḏėhsir lank gavā▫e.
The ten-headed Raawan wept when he lost Sri Lanka,

ਜਿਨਿ ਸੀਤਾ ਆਦੀ ਡਉਰੂ ਵਾਇ
जिनि सीता आदी डउरू वाइ ॥
Jin sīṯā āḏī da▫urū vā▫e.
but he stole away Sita with the beat of his tambourine.

ਰੋਵਹਿ ਪਾਂਡਵ ਭਏ ਮਜੂਰ
रोवहि पांडव भए मजूर ॥
Rovėh pāʼndav bẖa▫e majūr.
The Paandavas were made slaves, and wept,

ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਹਤ ਹਦੂਰਿ
जिन कै सुआमी रहत हदूरि ॥
Jin kai su▫āmī rahaṯ haḏūr.
but they once lived in the Presence of the Lord.

ਰੋਵੈ ਜਨਮੇਜਾ ਖੁਇ ਗਇਆ
रोवै जनमेजा खुइ गइआ ॥
Rovai janmejā kẖu▫e ga▫i▫ā.
Janmayjaa wept, that he had lost his way.

ਏਕੀ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਪਾਪੀ ਭਇਆ
एकी कारणि पापी भइआ ॥
Ėkī kāraṇ pāpī bẖa▫i▫ā.
One mistake, and he became a sinner.

ਰੋਵਹਿ ਸੇਖ ਮਸਾਇਕ ਪੀਰ
रोवहि सेख मसाइक पीर ॥
Rovėh sekẖ masā▫ik pīr.
The Shaykhs, Pirs and spiritual teachers weep;

ਅੰਤਿ ਕਾਲਿ ਮਤੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਭੀੜ
अंति कालि मतु लागै भीड़ ॥
Anṯ kāl maṯ lāgai bẖīṛ.
at the very last instant, they suffer in agony.

ਰੋਵਹਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਕੰਨ ਪੜਾਇ
रोवहि राजे कंन पड़ाइ ॥
Rovėh rāje kann paṛā▫e.
The kings weep - their ears are cut;

ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਜਾਇ
घरि घरि मागहि भीखिआ जाइ ॥
Gẖar gẖar māgėh bẖīkẖi▫ā jā▫e.
they go begging from house to house.

ਰੋਵਹਿ ਕਿਰਪਨ ਸੰਚਹਿ ਧਨੁ ਜਾਇ
रोवहि किरपन संचहि धनु जाइ ॥
Rovėh kirpan saʼncẖėh ḏẖan jā▫e.
The miser weeps; he has to leave behind the wealth he has gathered.

ਪੰਡਿਤ ਰੋਵਹਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਗਵਾਇ
पंडित रोवहि गिआनु गवाइ ॥
Pandiṯ rovėh gi▫ān gavā▫e.
The Pandit, the religious scholar, weeps when his learning is gone.

ਬਾਲੀ ਰੋਵੈ ਨਾਹਿ ਭਤਾਰੁ
बाली रोवै नाहि भतारु ॥
Bālī rovai nāhi bẖaṯār.
The young woman weeps because she has no husband.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ
नानक दुखीआ सभु संसारु ॥
Nānak ḏukẖī▫ā sabẖ sansār.
O Nanak, the whole world is suffering.

ਮੰਨੇ ਨਾਉ ਸੋਈ ਜਿਣਿ ਜਾਇ
मंने नाउ सोई जिणि जाइ ॥
Manne nā▫o so▫ī jiṇ jā▫e.
He alone is victorious, who believes in the Lord's Name.

ਅਉਰੀ ਕਰਮ ਲੇਖੈ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
अउरी करम न लेखै लाइ ॥१॥
A▫urī karam na lekẖai lā▫e. ||1||
No other action is of any account. ||1||

Mėhlā 2.
Second Mehl:

ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਮੰਨਿਐ ਅਵਰਿ ਕਾਰਾ ਸਭਿ ਬਾਦਿ
जपु तपु सभु किछु मंनिऐ अवरि कारा सभि बादि ॥
Jap ṯap sabẖ kicẖẖ mani▫ai avar kārā sabẖ bāḏ.
Meditation, austerity and everything come through belief in the Lord's Name. All other actions are useless.

ਨਾਨਕ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਮੰਨੀਐ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ॥੨॥
नानक मंनिआ मंनीऐ बुझीऐ गुर परसादि ॥२॥
Nānak mani▫ā mannī▫ai bujẖī▫ai gur parsāḏ. ||2||
O Nanak, believe in the One who is worth believing in. By Guru's Grace, he is realized. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਕਾਇਆ ਹੰਸ ਧੁਰਿ ਮੇਲੁ ਕਰਤੈ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ
काइआ हंस धुरि मेलु करतै लिखि पाइआ ॥
Kā▫i▫ā hans ḏẖur mel karṯai likẖ pā▫i▫ā.
The union of the body and the soul-swan was pre-ordained by the Creator Lord.

ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ
सभ महि गुपतु वरतदा गुरमुखि प्रगटाइआ ॥
Sabẖ mėh gupaṯ varaṯḏā gurmukẖ paragtā▫i▫ā.
He is hidden, and yet pervading all. He is revealed to the Gurmukh.

ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ
गुण गावै गुण उचरै गुण माहि समाइआ ॥
Guṇ gāvai guṇ ucẖrai guṇ māhi samā▫i▫ā.
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and chanting His Praises, one merges in His Glories.

ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ
सची बाणी सचु है सचु मेलि मिलाइआ ॥
Sacẖī baṇī sacẖ hai sacẖ mel milā▫i▫ā.
True is the True Word of the Guru's Bani. One unites in Union with the True Lord.

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੧੪॥
सभु किछु आपे आपि है आपे देइ वडिआई ॥१४॥
Sabẖ kicẖẖ āpe āp hai āpe ḏe▫e vadi▫ā▫ī. ||14||
He Himself is everything; He Himself grants glorious greatness. ||14||

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ
सलोक मः २ ॥
Salok mėhlā 2.
Shalok, Second Mehl:

ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਧਾ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ ਰਤਨਾ ਪਰਖਣ ਜਾਇ
नानक अंधा होइ कै रतना परखण जाइ ॥
Nānak anḏẖā ho▫e kai raṯnā parkẖaṇ jā▫e.
O Nanak, the blind man may go to appraise the jewels,

ਰਤਨਾ ਸਾਰ ਜਾਣਈ ਆਵੈ ਆਪੁ ਲਖਾਇ ॥੧॥
रतना सार न जाणई आवै आपु लखाइ ॥१॥
Raṯnā sār na jāṇ▫ī āvai āp lakẖā▫e. ||1||
but he will not know their value; he will return home after exposing his ignorance. ||1||

ਮਃ
मः २ ॥
Mėhlā 2.
Second Mehl:

ਰਤਨਾ ਕੇਰੀ ਗੁਥਲੀ ਰਤਨੀ ਖੋਲੀ ਆਇ
रतना केरी गुथली रतनी खोली आइ ॥
Raṯnā kerī guthlī raṯnī kẖolī ā▫e.
The Jeweler has come, and opened up the bag of jewels.

ਵਖਰ ਤੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਦੁਹਾ ਰਹੀ ਸਮਾਇ
वखर तै वणजारिआ दुहा रही समाइ ॥
vakẖar ṯai vaṇjāri▫ā ḏuhā rahī samā▫e.
The merchandise and the merchant are merged together.

ਜਿਨ ਗੁਣੁ ਪਲੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਮਾਣਕ ਵਣਜਹਿ ਸੇਇ
जिन गुणु पलै नानका माणक वणजहि सेइ ॥
Jin guṇ palai nānkā māṇak vaṇjahi se▫e.
They alone purchase the gem, O Nanak, who have virtue in their purse.

ਰਤਨਾ ਸਾਰ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਅੰਧੇ ਵਤਹਿ ਲੋਇ ॥੨॥
रतना सार न जाणनी अंधे वतहि लोइ ॥२॥
Raṯnā sār na jāṇnī anḏẖe vaṯėh lo▫e. ||2||
Those who do not appreciate the value of the jewels, wander like blind men in the world. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਨਉ ਦਰਵਾਜੇ ਕਾਇਆ ਕੋਟੁ ਹੈ ਦਸਵੈ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਰਖੀਜੈ
नउ दरवाजे काइआ कोटु है दसवै गुपतु रखीजै ॥
Na▫o ḏarvāje kā▫i▫ā kot hai ḏasvai gupaṯ rakẖījai.
The fortress of the body has nine gates; the tenth gate is kept hidden.

ਬਜਰ ਕਪਾਟ ਖੁਲਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਖੁਲੀਜੈ
बजर कपाट न खुलनी गुर सबदि खुलीजै ॥
Bajar kapāt na kẖulnī gur sabaḏ kẖulījai.
The rigid door is not open; only through the Word of the Guru's Shabad can it be opened.

ਅਨਹਦ ਵਾਜੇ ਧੁਨਿ ਵਜਦੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਣੀਜੈ
अनहद वाजे धुनि वजदे गुर सबदि सुणीजै ॥
Anhaḏ vāje ḏẖun vajḏe gur sabaḏ suṇījai.
The unstruck sound current resounds and vibrates there. The Word of the Guru's Shabad is heard.

ਤਿਤੁ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਕਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੀਜੈ
तितु घट अंतरि चानणा करि भगति मिलीजै ॥
Ŧiṯ gẖat anṯar cẖānṇā kar bẖagaṯ milījai.
Deep within the nucleus of the heart, the Divine Light shines forth. Through devotional worship, one meets the Lord.

ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਆਪੇ ਰਚਨ ਰਚਾਈ ॥੧੫॥
सभ महि एकु वरतदा जिनि आपे रचन रचाई ॥१५॥
Sabẖ mėh ek varaṯḏā jin āpe racẖan racẖā▫ī. ||15||
The One Lord is pervading and permeating all. He Himself created the creation. ||15||

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ
सलोक मः २ ॥
Salok mėhlā 2.
Shalok, Second Mehl:

ਅੰਧੇ ਕੈ ਰਾਹਿ ਦਸਿਐ ਅੰਧਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਜਾਇ
अंधे कै राहि दसिऐ अंधा होइ सु जाइ ॥
Anḏẖe kai rāhi ḏasi▫ai anḏẖā ho▫e so jā▫e.
He is truly blind, who follows the way shown by the blind man.

ਹੋਇ ਸੁਜਾਖਾ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਉਝੜਿ ਪਾਇ
होइ सुजाखा नानका सो किउ उझड़ि पाइ ॥
Ho▫e sujākẖā nānkā so ki▫o ujẖaṛ pā▫e.
O Nanak, why should the one who can see, get lost?

ਅੰਧੇ ਏਹਿ ਆਖੀਅਨਿ ਜਿਨ ਮੁਖਿ ਲੋਇਣ ਨਾਹਿ
अंधे एहि न आखीअनि जिन मुखि लोइण नाहि ॥
Anḏẖe ehi na ākẖī▫an jin mukẖ lo▫iṇ nāhi.
Do not call them blind, who have no eyes in their face.

ਅੰਧੇ ਸੇਈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਖਸਮਹੁ ਘੁਥੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
अंधे सेई नानका खसमहु घुथे जाहि ॥१॥
Anḏẖe se▫ī nānkā kẖasmahu gẖuthe jāhi. ||1||
They alone are blind, O Nanak, who wander away from their Lord and Master. ||1||

ਮਃ
मः २ ॥
Mėhlā 2.
Second Mehl:

ਸਾਹਿਬਿ ਅੰਧਾ ਜੋ ਕੀਆ ਕਰੇ ਸੁਜਾਖਾ ਹੋਇ
साहिबि अंधा जो कीआ करे सुजाखा होइ ॥
Sāhib anḏẖā jo kī▫ā kare sujākẖā ho▫e.
One whom the Lord has made blind - the Lord can make him see again.

ਜੇਹਾ ਜਾਣੈ ਤੇਹੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਜੇ ਸਉ ਆਖੈ ਕੋਇ
जेहा जाणै तेहो वरतै जे सउ आखै कोइ ॥
Jehā jāṇai ṯeho varṯai je sa▫o ākẖai ko▫e.
He acts only as he knows, although he may be spoken to a hundred times.

ਜਿਥੈ ਸੁ ਵਸਤੁ ਜਾਪਈ ਆਪੇ ਵਰਤਉ ਜਾਣਿ
जिथै सु वसतु न जापई आपे वरतउ जाणि ॥
Jithai so vasaṯ na jāp▫ī āpe varṯa▫o jāṇ.
Where the real thing is not seen, self-conceit prevails there - know this well.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਕਿਉ ਲਏ ਸਕੈ ਵਸਤੁ ਪਛਾਣਿ ॥੨॥
नानक गाहकु किउ लए सकै न वसतु पछाणि ॥२॥
Nānak gāhak ki▫o la▫e sakai na vasaṯ pacẖẖāṇ. ||2||
O Nanak, how can the purchaser purchase the real thing, if he cannot recognize it? ||2||

ਮਃ
मः २ ॥

Second Mehl:

ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਅੰਧਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿ ਹੁਕਮਹੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਹੋਇ
सो किउ अंधा आखीऐ जि हुकमहु अंधा होइ ॥
So ki▫o anḏẖā ākẖī▫ai jė hukmahu anḏẖā ho▫e.
How can someone be called blind, if he was made blind by the Lord's Command?

ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੁਝਈ ਅੰਧਾ ਕਹੀਐ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
नानक हुकमु न बुझई अंधा कहीऐ सोइ ॥३॥
Nānak hukam na bujẖ▫ī anḏẖā kahī▫ai so▫e. ||3||
O Nanak, one who does not understand the Hukam of the Lord's Command should be called blind. ||3||
