ਵਿਣੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੀਰੈ ਕੋ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਈ
विणु गुर पीरै को थाइ न पाई ॥
viṇ gur pīrai ko thā▫e na pā▫ī.
Without the Guru or a spiritual teacher, no one is accepted.

ਰਾਹੁ ਦਸਾਇ ਓਥੈ ਕੋ ਜਾਇ
राहु दसाइ ओथै को जाइ ॥
Rāhu ḏasā▫e othai ko jā▫e.
They may be shown the way, but only a few go there.

ਕਰਣੀ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਭਿਸਤਿ ਪਾਇ
करणी बाझहु भिसति न पाइ ॥
Karṇī bājẖahu bẖisaṯ na pā▫e.
Without the karma of good actions, heaven is not attained.

ਜੋਗੀ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਦਸਾਈ
जोगी कै घरि जुगति दसाई ॥
Jogī kai gẖar jugaṯ ḏasā▫ī.
The Way of Yoga is demonstrated in the Yogi's monastery.

ਤਿਤੁ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਕਨਿ ਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਪਾਈ
तितु कारणि कनि मुंद्रा पाई ॥
Ŧiṯ kāraṇ kan munḏrā pā▫ī.
They wear ear-rings to show the way.

ਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਪਾਇ ਫਿਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ
मुंद्रा पाइ फिरै संसारि ॥
Munḏrā pā▫e firai sansār.
Wearing ear-rings, they wander around the world.

ਜਿਥੈ ਕਿਥੈ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ
जिथै किथै सिरजणहारु ॥
Jithai kithai sirjaṇhār.
The Creator Lord is everywhere.

ਜੇਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਤੇ ਵਾਟਾਊ
जेते जीअ तेते वाटाऊ ॥
Jeṯe jī▫a ṯeṯe vātā▫ū.
There are as many travelers as there are beings.

ਚੀਰੀ ਆਈ ਢਿਲ ਕਾਊ
चीरी आई ढिल न काऊ ॥
Cẖīrī ā▫ī dẖil na kā▫ū.
When one's death warrant is issued, there is no delay.

ਏਥੈ ਜਾਣੈ ਸੁ ਜਾਇ ਸਿਞਾਣੈ
एथै जाणै सु जाइ सिञाणै ॥
Ėthai jāṇai so jā▫e siñāṇai.
One who knows the Lord here, realizes Him there as well.

ਹੋਰੁ ਫਕੜੁ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਣੈ
होरु फकड़ु हिंदू मुसलमाणै ॥
Hor fakaṛ hinḏū musalmāṇai.
Others, whether Hindu or Muslim, are just babbling.

ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਦਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਹੋਇ
सभना का दरि लेखा होइ ॥
Sabẖnā kā ḏar lekẖā ho▫e.
Everyone's account is read in the Court of the Lord;

ਕਰਣੀ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਤਰੈ ਕੋਇ
करणी बाझहु तरै न कोइ ॥
Karṇī bājẖahu ṯarai na ko▫e.
without the karma of good actions, no one crosses over.

ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ
सचो सचु वखाणै कोइ ॥
Sacẖo sacẖ vakẖāṇai ko▫e.
One who speaks the True Name of the True Lord,

ਨਾਨਕ ਅਗੈ ਪੁਛ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
नानक अगै पुछ न होइ ॥२॥
Nānak agai pucẖẖ na ho▫e. ||2||
O Nanak, is not called to account hereafter. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਕਾਇਆ ਕੋਟੁ ਗੜੁ
हरि का मंदरु आखीऐ काइआ कोटु गड़ु ॥
Har kā manḏar ākẖī▫ai kā▫i▫ā kot gaṛ.
The fortress of the body is called the Mansion of the Lord.

ਅੰਦਰਿ ਲਾਲ ਜਵੇਹਰੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੜੁ
अंदरि लाल जवेहरी गुरमुखि हरि नामु पड़ु ॥
Anḏar lāl javeharī gurmukẖ har nām paṛ.
The rubies and gems are found within it; the Gurmukh chants the Name of the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਅਤਿ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿੜੁ
हरि का मंदरु सरीरु अति सोहणा हरि हरि नामु दिड़ु ॥
Har kā manḏar sarīr aṯ sohṇā har har nām ḏiṛ.
The body, the Mansion of the Lord, is very beautiful, when the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is implanted deep within.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਇਅਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਨਿਤ ਕੜੁ
मनमुख आपि खुआइअनु माइआ मोह नित कड़ु ॥
Manmukẖ āp kẖu▫ā▫i▫an mā▫i▫ā moh niṯ kaṛ.
The self-willed manmukhs ruin themselves; they boil continuously in attachment to Maya.

ਸਭਨਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੧॥
सभना साहिबु एकु है पूरै भागि पाइआ जाई ॥११॥
Sabẖnā sāhib ek hai pūrai bẖāg pā▫i▫ā jā▫ī. ||11||
The One Lord is the Master of all. He is found only by perfect destiny. ||11||

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ
सलोक मः १ ॥
Salok mėhlā 1.
Shalok, First Mehl:

ਨਾ ਸਤਿ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਨਾ ਸਤਿ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਨਾ ਸਤਿ ਪਾਣੀ ਜੰਤ ਫਿਰਹਿ
ना सति दुखीआ ना सति सुखीआ ना सति पाणी जंत फिरहि ॥
Nā saṯ ḏukẖī▫ā nā saṯ sukẖī▫ā nā saṯ pāṇī janṯ firėh.
There is no Truth in suffering, there is no Truth in comfort. There is no Truth in wandering like animals through the water.

ਨਾ ਸਤਿ ਮੂੰਡ ਮੁਡਾਈ ਕੇਸੀ ਨਾ ਸਤਿ ਪੜਿਆ ਦੇਸ ਫਿਰਹਿ
ना सति मूंड मुडाई केसी ना सति पड़िआ देस फिरहि ॥
Nā saṯ mūnd mudā▫ī kesī nā saṯ paṛi▫ā ḏes firėh.
There is no Truth in shaving one's head; there is no Truth is studying the scriptures or wandering in foreign lands.

ਨਾ ਸਤਿ ਰੁਖੀ ਬਿਰਖੀ ਪਥਰ ਆਪੁ ਤਛਾਵਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਹਿ
ना सति रुखी बिरखी पथर आपु तछावहि दुख सहहि ॥
Nā saṯ rukẖī birkẖī pathar āp ṯacẖẖāvėh ḏukẖ sahėh.
There is no Truth in trees, plants or stones, in mutilating oneself or suffering in pain.

ਨਾ ਸਤਿ ਹਸਤੀ ਬਧੇ ਸੰਗਲ ਨਾ ਸਤਿ ਗਾਈ ਘਾਹੁ ਚਰਹਿ
ना सति हसती बधे संगल ना सति गाई घाहु चरहि ॥
Nā saṯ hasṯī baḏẖe sangal nā saṯ gā▫ī gẖāhu cẖarėh.
There is no Truth in binding elephants in chains; there is no Truth in grazing cows.

ਜਿਸੁ ਹਥਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਜੇ ਸੋਈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਇ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੈ
जिसु हथि सिधि देवै जे सोई जिस नो देइ तिसु आइ मिलै ॥
Jis hath siḏẖ ḏevai je so▫ī jis no ḏe▫e ṯis ā▫e milai.
He alone grants it, whose hands hold spiritual perfection; he alone receives it, unto whom it is given.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਾਈ ਜਿਸੁ ਘਟ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਵੈ
नानक ता कउ मिलै वडाई जिसु घट भीतरि सबदु रवै ॥
Nānak ṯā ka▫o milai vadā▫ī jis gẖat bẖīṯar sabaḏ ravai.
O Nanak, he alone is blessed with glorious greatness, whose heart is filled with the Word of the Shabad.

ਸਭਿ ਘਟ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਉ ਸਭਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਖੁਆਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਕਹੈ
सभि घट मेरे हउ सभना अंदरि जिसहि खुआई तिसु कउणु कहै ॥
Sabẖ gẖat mere ha▫o sabẖnā anḏar jisahi kẖu▫ā▫ī ṯis ka▫uṇ kahai.
God says, all hearts are mine, and I am in all hearts. Who can explain this to one who is confused?

ਜਿਸਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਲਾ ਵਾਟੜੀ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਭੁਲਾਵੈ ਕਉਣੁ
जिसहि दिखाला वाटड़ी तिसहि भुलावै कउणु ॥
Jisahi ḏikẖālā vātṛī ṯisėh bẖulāvai ka▫uṇ.
Who can confuse that being, unto whom I have shown the Way?

ਜਿਸਹਿ ਭੁਲਾਈ ਪੰਧ ਸਿਰਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ਕਉਣੁ ॥੧॥
जिसहि भुलाई पंध सिरि तिसहि दिखावै कउणु ॥१॥
Jisahi bẖulā▫ī panḏẖ sir ṯisėh ḏikẖāvai ka▫uṇ. ||1||
And who can show the Path to that being whom I have confused since the beginning of time? ||1||

ਮਃ
मः १ ॥
Mėhlā 1.
First Mehl:

ਸੋ ਗਿਰਹੀ ਜੋ ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਕਰੈ
सो गिरही जो निग्रहु करै ॥
So girhī jo nigarahu karai.
He alone is a householder, who restrains his passions

ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਕਰੈ
जपु तपु संजमु भीखिआ करै ॥
Jap ṯap sanjam bẖīkẖi▫ā karai.
and begs for meditation, austerity and self-discipline.

ਪੁੰਨ ਦਾਨ ਕਾ ਕਰੇ ਸਰੀਰੁ
पुंन दान का करे सरीरु ॥
Punn ḏān kā kare sarīr.
He gives donations to charity with his body;

ਸੋ ਗਿਰਹੀ ਗੰਗਾ ਕਾ ਨੀਰੁ
सो गिरही गंगा का नीरु ॥
So girhī gangā kā nīr.
such a householder is as pure as the water of the Ganges.

ਬੋਲੈ ਈਸਰੁ ਸਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ
बोलै ईसरु सति सरूपु ॥
Bolai īsar saṯ sarūp.
Says Eeshar, the Lord is the embodiment of Truth.

ਪਰਮ ਤੰਤ ਮਹਿ ਰੇਖ ਰੂਪੁ ॥੨॥
परम तंत महि रेख न रूपु ॥२॥
Param ṯanṯ mėh rekẖ na rūp. ||2||
The supreme essence of reality has no shape or form. ||2||

ਮਃ
मः १ ॥
Mėhlā 1.
First Mehl:

ਸੋ ਅਉਧੂਤੀ ਜੋ ਧੂਪੈ ਆਪੁ
सो अउधूती जो धूपै आपु ॥
So a▫uḏẖūṯī jo ḏẖūpai āp.
He alone is a detached hermit, who burns away his self-conceit.

ਭਿਖਿਆ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ
भिखिआ भोजनु करै संतापु ॥
Bẖikẖi▫ā bẖojan karai sanṯāp.
He begs for suffering as his food.

ਅਉਹਠ ਪਟਣ ਮਹਿ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਕਰੈ
अउहठ पटण महि भीखिआ करै ॥
A▫uhaṯẖ pataṇ mėh bẖīkẖi▫ā karai.
In the city of the heart, he begs for charity.

ਸੋ ਅਉਧੂਤੀ ਸਿਵ ਪੁਰਿ ਚੜੈ
सो अउधूती सिव पुरि चड़ै ॥
So a▫uḏẖūṯī siv pur cẖaṛai.
Such a renunciate ascends to the City of God.

ਬੋਲੈ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਸਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ
बोलै गोरखु सति सरूपु ॥
Bolai gorakẖ saṯ sarūp.
Says Gorakh, God is the embodiment of Truth;

ਪਰਮ ਤੰਤ ਮਹਿ ਰੇਖ ਰੂਪੁ ॥੩॥
परम तंत महि रेख न रूपु ॥३॥
Param ṯanṯ mėh rekẖ na rūp. ||3||
the supreme essence of reality has no shape or form. ||3||

ਮਃ
मः १ ॥
Mėhlā 1.
First Mehl:

ਸੋ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਜਿ ਪਾਲੇ ਉਦਾਸੁ
सो उदासी जि पाले उदासु ॥
So uḏāsī jė pāle uḏās.
He alone is an Udasi, a shaven-headed renunciate, who embraces renunciation.

ਅਰਧ ਉਰਧ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਵਾਸੁ
अरध उरध करे निरंजन वासु ॥
Araḏẖ uraḏẖ kare niranjan vās.
He sees the Immaculate Lord dwelling in both the upper and lower regions.

ਚੰਦ ਸੂਰਜ ਕੀ ਪਾਏ ਗੰਢਿ
चंद सूरज की पाए गंढि ॥
Cẖanḏ sūraj kī pā▫e gandẖ.
He balances the sun and the moon energies.

ਤਿਸੁ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਕਾ ਪੜੈ ਕੰਧੁ
तिसु उदासी का पड़ै न कंधु ॥
Ŧis uḏāsī kā paṛai na kanḏẖ.
The body-wall of such an Udasi does not collapse.

ਬੋਲੈ ਗੋਪੀ ਚੰਦੁ ਸਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ
बोलै गोपी चंदु सति सरूपु ॥
Bolai gopī cẖanḏ saṯ sarūp.
Says Gopi Chand, God is the embodiment of Truth;

ਪਰਮ ਤੰਤ ਮਹਿ ਰੇਖ ਰੂਪੁ ॥੪॥
परम तंत महि रेख न रूपु ॥४॥
Param ṯanṯ mėh rekẖ na rūp. ||4||
the supreme essence of reality has no shape or form. ||4||

ਮਃ
मः १ ॥
Mėhlā 1.
First Mehl:

ਸੋ ਪਾਖੰਡੀ ਜਿ ਕਾਇਆ ਪਖਾਲੇ
सो पाखंडी जि काइआ पखाले ॥
So pākẖandī jė kā▫i▫ā pakẖāle.
He alone is a Paakhandi, who cleanses his body of filth.

ਕਾਇਆ ਕੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਜਾਲੇ
काइआ की अगनि ब्रहमु परजाले ॥
Kā▫i▫ā kī agan barahm parjāle.
The fire of his body illuminates God within.

ਸੁਪਨੈ ਬਿੰਦੁ ਦੇਈ ਝਰਣਾ
सुपनै बिंदु न देई झरणा ॥
Supnai binḏ na ḏe▫ī jẖarṇā.
He does not waste his energy in wet dreams.
