ਬਿਦਿਆ ਸੋਧੈ ਤਤੁ ਲਹੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ
बिदिआ सोधै ततु लहै राम नाम लिव लाइ ॥
Biḏi▫ā soḏẖai ṯaṯ lahai rām nām liv lā▫e.
Considering his knowledge, he finds the essence of reality, and lovingly focuses his attention on the Name of the Lord.

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਕ੍ਰਦਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਟੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ
मनमुखु बिदिआ बिक्रदा बिखु खटे बिखु खाइ ॥
Manmukẖ biḏi▫ā bikarḏā bikẖ kẖate bikẖ kẖā▫e.
The self-willed manmukh sells his knowledge; he earns poison, and eats poison.

ਮੂਰਖੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨਈ ਸੂਝ ਬੂਝ ਨਹ ਕਾਇ ॥੫੩॥
मूरखु सबदु न चीनई सूझ बूझ नह काइ ॥५३॥
Mūrakẖ sabaḏ na cẖīn▫ī sūjẖ būjẖ nah kā▫e. ||53||
The fool does not think of the Word of the Shabad. He has no understanding, no comprehension. ||53||

ਪਾਧਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਖੀਐ ਚਾਟੜਿਆ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਇ
पाधा गुरमुखि आखीऐ चाटड़िआ मति देइ ॥
Pāḏẖā gurmukẖ ākẖī▫ai cẖātṛi▫ā maṯ ḏe▫e.
That Pandit is called Gurmukh, who imparts understanding to his students.

ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਹੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਗਰਹੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਲੇਇ
नामु समालहु नामु संगरहु लाहा जग महि लेइ ॥
Nām samālahu nām sangrahu lāhā jag mėh le▫e.
Contemplate the Naam, the Name of the Lord; gather in the Naam, and earn the true profit in this world.

ਸਚੀ ਪਟੀ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਪੜੀਐ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁ ਸਾਰੁ
सची पटी सचु मनि पड़ीऐ सबदु सु सारु ॥
Sacẖī patī sacẖ man paṛī▫ai sabaḏ so sār.
With the true notebook of the true mind, study the most sublime Word of the Shabad.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪੜਿਆ ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਬੀਨਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਗਲਿ ਹਾਰੁ ॥੫੪॥੧॥
नानक सो पड़िआ सो पंडितु बीना जिसु राम नामु गलि हारु ॥५४॥१॥
Nānak so paṛi▫ā so pandiṯ bīnā jis rām nām gal hār. ||54||1||
O Nanak, he alone is learned, and he alone is a wise Pandit, who wears the necklace of the Lord's Name. ||54||1||

Raamkalee, First Mehl, Sidh Gosht ~ Conversations With The Siddhas:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸਿਧ ਸਭਾ ਕਰਿ ਆਸਣਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਜੈਕਾਰੋ
सिध सभा करि आसणि बैठे संत सभा जैकारो ॥
Siḏẖ sabẖā kar āsaṇ baiṯẖe sanṯ sabẖā jaikāro.
The Siddhas formed an assembly; sitting in their Yogic postures, they shouted, "Salute this gathering of Saints".

ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਅਪਰ ਅਪਾਰੋ
तिसु आगै रहरासि हमारी साचा अपर अपारो ॥
Ŧis āgai rahrās hamārī sācẖā apar apāro.
I offer my salutation to the One who is true, infinite and incomparably beautiful.

ਮਸਤਕੁ ਕਾਟਿ ਧਰੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਆਗੈ ਦੇਉ
मसतकु काटि धरी तिसु आगै तनु मनु आगै देउ ॥
Masṯak kāt ḏẖarī ṯis āgai ṯan man āgai ḏe▫o.
I cut off my head, and offer it to Him; I dedicate my body and mind to Him".

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਹਜ ਭਾਇ ਜਸੁ ਲੇਉ ॥੧॥
नानक संतु मिलै सचु पाईऐ सहज भाइ जसु लेउ ॥१॥
Nānak sanṯ milai sacẖ pā▫ī▫ai sahj bẖā▫e jas le▫o. ||1||
O Nanak, meeting with the Saints, Truth is obtained, and one is spontaneously blessed with distinction. ||1||

ਕਿਆ ਭਵੀਐ ਸਚਿ ਸੂਚਾ ਹੋਇ
किआ भवीऐ सचि सूचा होइ ॥
Ki▫ā bẖavī▫ai sacẖ sūcẖā ho▫e.
What is the use of wandering around? Purity comes only through Truth.

ਸਾਚ ਸਬਦ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
साच सबद बिनु मुकति न कोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sācẖ sabaḏ bin mukaṯ na ko▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Without the True Word of the Shabad, no one finds liberation. ||1||Pause||

ਕਵਨ ਤੁਮੇ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਉ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ਕਉਨੁ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਕਉਨੁ ਸੁਆਓ
कवन तुमे किआ नाउ तुमारा कउनु मारगु कउनु सुआओ ॥
Kavan ṯume ki▫ā nā▫o ṯumārā ka▫un mārag ka▫un su▫ā▫o.
Who are you? What is your name? What is your way? What is your goal?

ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹਉ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਹਉ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਓ
साचु कहउ अरदासि हमारी हउ संत जना बलि जाओ ॥
Sācẖ kaha▫o arḏās hamārī ha▫o sanṯ janā bal jā▫o.
We pray that you will answer us truthfully; we are a sacrifice to the humble Saints.

ਕਹ ਬੈਸਹੁ ਕਹ ਰਹੀਐ ਬਾਲੇ ਕਹ ਆਵਹੁ ਕਹ ਜਾਹੋ
कह बैसहु कह रहीऐ बाले कह आवहु कह जाहो ॥
Kah baishu kah rahī▫ai bāle kah āvhu kah jāho.
Where is your seat? Where do you live, boy? Where did you come from, and where are you going?

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਸੁਣਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਕਿਆ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ਰਾਹੋ ॥੨॥
नानकु बोलै सुणि बैरागी किआ तुमारा राहो ॥२॥
Nānak bolai suṇ bairāgī ki▫ā ṯumārā rāho. ||2||
Tell us, Nanak - the detached Siddhas wait to hear your reply. What is your path?" ||2||

ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬੈਸਿ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਰਹੀਐ ਚਾਲਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਏ
घटि घटि बैसि निरंतरि रहीऐ चालहि सतिगुर भाए ॥
Gẖat gẖat bais niranṯar rahī▫ai cẖālėh saṯgur bẖā▫e.
He dwells deep within the nucleus of each and every heart. This is my seat and my home. I walk in harmony with the Will of the True Guru.

ਸਹਜੇ ਆਏ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਿਧਾਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਰਜਾਏ
सहजे आए हुकमि सिधाए नानक सदा रजाए ॥
Sėhje ā▫e hukam siḏẖā▫e Nānak saḏā rajā▫e.
I came from the Celestial Lord God; I go wherever He orders me to go. I am Nanak, forever under the Command of His Will.

ਆਸਣਿ ਬੈਸਣਿ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਐਸੀ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਾਏ
आसणि बैसणि थिरु नाराइणु ऐसी गुरमति पाए ॥
Āsaṇ baisaṇ thir nārā▫iṇ aisī gurmaṯ pā▫e.
I sit in the posture of the eternal, imperishable Lord. These are the Teachings I have received from the Guru.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੩॥
गुरमुखि बूझै आपु पछाणै सचे सचि समाए ॥३॥
Gurmukẖ būjẖai āp pacẖẖāṇai sacẖe sacẖ samā▫e. ||3||
As Gurmukh, I have come to understand and realize myself; I merge in the Truest of the True". ||3||

ਦੁਨੀਆ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਾਰੋ
दुनीआ सागरु दुतरु कहीऐ किउ करि पाईऐ पारो ॥
Ḏunī▫ā sāgar ḏuṯar kahī▫ai ki▫o kar pā▫ī▫ai pāro.
The world-ocean is treacherous and impassable; how can one cross over?

ਚਰਪਟੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਅਉਧੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਹੁ ਸਚਾ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ
चरपटु बोलै अउधू नानक देहु सचा बीचारो ॥
Cẖarpat bolai a▫oḏẖū Nānak ḏeh sacẖā bīcẖāro.
O Nanak, think it over, and give us your true reply." Charpat the Yogi asks.

ਆਪੇ ਆਖੈ ਆਪੇ ਸਮਝੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਆ ਉਤਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ
आपे आखै आपे समझै तिसु किआ उतरु दीजै ॥
Āpe ākẖai āpe samjẖai ṯis ki▫ā uṯar ḏījai.
What answer can I give to someone, who claims to understand himself?

ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਪਾਰਗਰਾਮੀ ਤੁਝੁ ਕਿਆ ਬੈਸਣੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੪॥
साचु कहहु तुम पारगरामी तुझु किआ बैसणु दीजै ॥४॥
Sācẖ kahhu ṯum pārgarāmī ṯujẖ ki▫ā baisaṇ ḏījai. ||4||
I speak the Truth; if you have already crossed over, how can I argue with you?" ||4||

ਜੈਸੇ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਮੁਰਗਾਈ ਨੈ ਸਾਣੇ
जैसे जल महि कमलु निरालमु मुरगाई नै साणे ॥
Jaise jal mėh kamal nirālam murgā▫ī nai sāṇe.
The lotus flower floats untouched upon the surface of the water, and the duck swims through the stream;

ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੇ
सुरति सबदि भव सागरु तरीऐ नानक नामु वखाणे ॥
Suraṯ sabaḏ bẖav sāgar ṯarī▫ai Nānak nām vakẖāṇe.
with one's consciousness focused on the Word of the Shabad, one crosses over the terrifying world-ocean. O Nanak, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਰਹਹਿ ਇਕਾਂਤਿ ਏਕੋ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਆਸਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਸੋ
रहहि इकांति एको मनि वसिआ आसा माहि निरासो ॥
Rahėh ikāʼnṯ eko man vasi▫ā āsā māhi nirāso.
One who lives alone, as a hermit, enshrining the One Lord in his mind, remaining unaffected by hope in the midst of hope,

ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਿਖਾਏ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੋ ॥੫॥
अगमु अगोचरु देखि दिखाए नानकु ता का दासो ॥५॥
Agam agocẖar ḏekẖ ḏikẖā▫e Nānak ṯā kā ḏāso. ||5||
sees and inspires others to see the inaccessible, unfathomable Lord. Nanak is his slave". ||5||

ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਪੂਛਉ ਸਾਚੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ
सुणि सुआमी अरदासि हमारी पूछउ साचु बीचारो ॥
Suṇ su▫āmī arḏās hamārī pūcẖẖa▫o sācẖ bīcẖāro.
Listen, Lord, to our prayer. We seek your true opinion.

ਰੋਸੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਉਤਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਦੁਆਰੋ
रोसु न कीजै उतरु दीजै किउ पाईऐ गुर दुआरो ॥
Ros na kījai uṯar ḏījai ki▫o pā▫ī▫ai gur ḏu▫āro.
Don't be angry with us - please tell us: How can we find the Guru's Door?

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਚਲਤਉ ਸਚ ਘਰਿ ਬੈਸੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੋ
इहु मनु चलतउ सच घरि बैसै नानक नामु अधारो ॥
Ih man cẖalṯa▫o sacẖ gẖar baisai Nānak nām aḏẖāro.
This fickle mind sits in its true home, O Nanak, through the Support of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਕਰਤਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਾਚਿ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥੬॥
आपे मेलि मिलाए करता लागै साचि पिआरो ॥६॥
Āpe mel milā▫e karṯā lāgai sācẖ pi▫āro. ||6||
The Creator Himself unites us in Union, and inspires us to love the Truth". ||6||

ਹਾਟੀ ਬਾਟੀ ਰਹਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਲੇ ਰੂਖਿ ਬਿਰਖਿ ਉਦਿਆਨੇ
हाटी बाटी रहहि निराले रूखि बिरखि उदिआने ॥
Hātī bātī rahėh nirāle rūkẖ birakẖ uḏi▫āne.
Away from stores and highways, we live in the woods, among plants and trees.

ਕੰਦ ਮੂਲੁ ਅਹਾਰੋ ਖਾਈਐ ਅਉਧੂ ਬੋਲੈ ਗਿਆਨੇ
कंद मूलु अहारो खाईऐ अउधू बोलै गिआने ॥
Kanḏ mūl ahāro kẖā▫ī▫ai a▫oḏẖū bolai gi▫āne.
For food, we take fruits and roots. This is the spiritual wisdom spoken by the renunciates.
