ਆਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਰਿ ॥੪੭॥
आपु गइआ दुखु कटिआ हरि वरु पाइआ नारि ॥४७॥
Āp ga▫i▫ā ḏukẖ kati▫ā har var pā▫i▫ā nār. ||47||
Self-conceit is eliminated, and pain is eradicated; the soul bride obtains her Husband Lord. ||47||

ਸੁਇਨਾ ਰੁਪਾ ਸੰਚੀਐ ਧਨੁ ਕਾਚਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਛਾਰੁ ॥
सुइना रुपा संचीऐ धनु काचा बिखु छारु ॥
Su▫inā rupā sancẖī▫ai ḏẖan kācẖā bikẖ cẖẖār.
He hoards gold and silver, but this wealth is false and poisonous, nothing more than ashes.

ਸਾਹੁ ਸਦਾਏ ਸੰਚਿ ਧਨੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
साहु सदाए संचि धनु दुबिधा होइ खुआरु ॥
Sāhu saḏā▫e sancẖ ḏẖan ḏubiḏẖā ho▫e kẖu▫ār.
He calls himself a banker, gathering wealth, but he is ruined by his dual-mindedness.

ਸਚਿਆਰੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਸਾਚਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲੁ ॥
सचिआरी सचु संचिआ साचउ नामु अमोलु ॥
Sacẖi▫ārī sacẖ sancẖi▫ā sācẖa▫o nām amol.
The truthful ones gather Truth; the True Name is priceless.

ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਾਇਲੁ ਊਜਲੋ ਪਤਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਚੁ ਬੋਲੁ ॥
हरि निरमाइलु ऊजलो पति साची सचु बोलु ॥
Har nirmā▫il ūjlo paṯ sācẖī sacẖ bol.
The Lord is immaculate and pure; through Him, their honor is true, and their speech is true.

ਸਾਜਨੁ ਮੀਤੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਤੂ ਤੂ ਸਰਵਰੁ ਤੂ ਹੰਸੁ ॥
साजनु मीतु सुजाणु तू तू सरवरु तू हंसु ॥
Sājan mīṯ sujāṇ ṯū ṯū sarvar ṯū hans.
You are my friend and companion, all-knowing Lord; You are the lake, and You are the swan.

ਸਾਚਉ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿਸੁ ॥
साचउ ठाकुरु मनि वसै हउ बलिहारी तिसु ॥
Sācẖa▫o ṯẖākur man vasai ha▫o balihārī ṯis.
I am a sacrifice to that being, whose mind is filled with the True Lord and Master.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੋ ਜਾਣੁ ॥
माइआ ममता मोहणी जिनि कीती सो जाणु ॥
Mā▫i▫ā mamṯā mohṇī jin kīṯī so jāṇ.
Know the One who created love and attachment to Maya, the Enticer.

ਬਿਖਿਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥੪੮॥
बिखिआ अम्रितु एकु है बूझै पुरखु सुजाणु ॥४८॥
Bikẖi▫ā amriṯ ek hai būjẖai purakẖ sujāṇ. ||48||
One who realizes the all-knowing Primal Lord, looks alike upon poison and nectar. ||48||

ਖਿਮਾ ਵਿਹੂਣੇ ਖਪਿ ਗਏ ਖੂਹਣਿ ਲਖ ਅਸੰਖ ॥
खिमा विहूणे खपि गए खूहणि लख असंख ॥
Kẖimā vihūṇe kẖap ga▫e kẖūhaṇ lakẖ asaʼnkẖ.
Without patience and forgiveness, countless hundreds of thousands have perished.
|
ਗਣਤ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕਿਉ ਗਣੀ ਖਪਿ ਖਪਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਸੰਖ ॥
गणत न आवै किउ गणी खपि खपि मुए बिसंख ॥
Gaṇaṯ na āvai ki▫o gaṇī kẖap kẖap mu▫e bisankẖ.
Their numbers cannot be counted; how could I count them? Bothered and bewildered, uncounted numbers have died.

ਖਸਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਖੂਲੈ ਬੰਧੁ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
खसमु पछाणै आपणा खूलै बंधु न पाइ ॥
Kẖasam pacẖẖāṇai āpṇā kẖūlai banḏẖ na pā▫e.
One who realizes his Lord and Master is set free, and not bound by chains.
|
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਹਲੀ ਖਰਾ ਤੂ ਖਿਮਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਖ ਭਾਇ ॥
सबदि महली खरा तू खिमा सचु सुख भाइ ॥
Sabaḏ mahlī kẖarā ṯū kẖimā sacẖ sukẖ bẖā▫e.
Through the Word of the Shabad, enter the Mansion of the Lord's Presence; you shall be blessed with patience, forgiveness, truth and peace.

ਖਰਚੁ ਖਰਾ ਧਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਵਸਹਿ ਸਰੀਰਿ ॥
खरचु खरा धनु धिआनु तू आपे वसहि सरीरि ॥
Kẖaracẖ kẖarā ḏẖan ḏẖi▫ān ṯū āpe vasėh sarīr.
Partake of the true wealth of meditation, and the Lord Himself shall abide within your body.

ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਧੀਰ ॥
मनि तनि मुखि जापै सदा गुण अंतरि मनि धीर ॥
Man ṯan mukẖ jāpai saḏā guṇ anṯar man ḏẖīr.
With mind, body and mouth, chant His Glorious Virtues forever; courage and composure shall enter deep within your mind.

ਹਉਮੈ ਖਪੈ ਖਪਾਇਸੀ ਬੀਜਉ ਵਥੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥
हउमै खपै खपाइसी बीजउ वथु विकारु ॥
Ha▫umai kẖapai kẖapā▫isī bīja▫o vath vikār.
Through egotism, one is distracted and ruined; other than the Lord, all things are corrupt.

ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਇ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਇਅਨੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਅਲਗੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੪੯॥
जंत उपाइ विचि पाइअनु करता अलगु अपारु ॥४९॥
Janṯ upā▫e vicẖ pā▫i▫an karṯā alag apār. ||49||
Forming His creatures, He placed Himself within them; the Creator is unattached and infinite. ||49||

ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟੇ ਭੇਉ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
स्रिसटे भेउ न जाणै कोइ ॥
Sariste bẖe▫o na jāṇai ko▫e.
No one knows the mystery of the Creator of the World.
|
ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਾ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਨਿਹਚਉ ਹੋਇ ॥
स्रिसटा करै सु निहचउ होइ ॥
Saristā karai so nihcẖa▫o ho▫e.
Whatever the Creator of the World does, is certain to occur.

ਸੰਪੈ ਕਉ ਈਸਰੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
स्मपै कउ ईसरु धिआईऐ ॥
Sampai ka▫o īsar ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai.
For wealth, some meditate on the Lord.
|
ਸੰਪੈ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਕੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
स्मपै पुरबि लिखे की पाईऐ ॥
Sampai purab likẖe kī pā▫ī▫ai.
By pre-ordained destiny, wealth is obtained.
|
ਸੰਪੈ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਚਾਕਰ ਚੋਰ ॥
स्मपै कारणि चाकर चोर ॥
Sampai kāraṇ cẖākar cẖor.
For the sake of wealth, some become servants or thieves.
|
ਸੰਪੈ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਚਾਲੈ ਹੋਰ ॥
स्मपै साथि न चालै होर ॥
Sampai sāth na cẖālai hor.
Wealth does not go along with them when they die; it passes into the hands of others.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਹੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
बिनु साचे नही दरगह मानु ॥
Bin sācẖe nahī ḏargėh mān.
Without Truth, honor is not obtained in the Court of the Lord.
|
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਛੁਟੈ ਨਿਦਾਨਿ ॥੫੦॥
हरि रसु पीवै छुटै निदानि ॥५०॥
Har ras pīvai cẖẖutai niḏān. ||50||
Drinking in the subtle essence of the Lord, one is emancipated in the end. ||50||

ਹੇਰਤ ਹੇਰਤ ਹੇ ਸਖੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੀ ਹੈਰਾਨੁ ॥
हेरत हेरत हे सखी होइ रही हैरानु ॥
Heraṯ heraṯ he sakẖī ho▫e rahī hairān.
Seeing and perceiving, O my companions, I am wonder-struck and amazed.
|
ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤੀ ਮੈ ਮੁਈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
हउ हउ करती मै मुई सबदि रवै मनि गिआनु ॥
Ha▫o ha▫o karṯī mai mu▫ī sabaḏ ravai man gi▫ān.
My egotism, which proclaimed itself in possessiveness and self-conceit, is dead. My mind chants the Word of the Shabad, and attains spiritual wisdom.

ਹਾਰ ਡੋਰ ਕੰਕਨ ਘਣੇ ਕਰਿ ਥਾਕੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
हार डोर कंकन घणे करि थाकी सीगारु ॥
Hār dor kankan gẖaṇe kar thākī sīgār.
I am so tired of wearing all these necklaces, hair-ties and bracelets, and decorating myself.
|
ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਗਲ ਗੁਣਾ ਗਲਿ ਹਾਰੁ ॥
मिलि प्रीतम सुखु पाइआ सगल गुणा गलि हारु ॥
Mil parīṯam sukẖ pā▫i▫ā sagal guṇā gal hār.
Meeting with my Beloved, I have found peace; now, I wear the necklace of total virtue.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
नानक गुरमुखि पाईऐ हरि सिउ प्रीति पिआरु ॥
Nānak gurmukẖ pā▫ī▫ai har si▫o parīṯ pi▫ār.
O Nanak, the Gurmukh attains the Lord, with love and affection.
|
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
हरि बिनु किनि सुखु पाइआ देखहु मनि बीचारि ॥
Har bin kin sukẖ pā▫i▫ā ḏekẖhu man bīcẖār.
Without the Lord, who has found peace? Reflect upon this in your mind, and see.
|
ਹਰਿ ਪੜਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਬੁਝਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਖਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
हरि पड़णा हरि बुझणा हरि सिउ रखहु पिआरु ॥
Har paṛ▫ṇā har bujẖ▫ṇā har si▫o rakẖahu pi▫ār.
Read about the Lord, understand the Lord, and enshrine love for the Lord.
|
ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੫੧॥
हरि जपीऐ हरि धिआईऐ हरि का नामु अधारु ॥५१॥
Har japī▫ai har ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai har kā nām aḏẖār. ||51||
Chant the Lord's Name, and meditate on the Lord; hold tight to the Support of the Name of the Lord. ||51||

ਲੇਖੁ ਨ ਮਿਟਈ ਹੇ ਸਖੀ ਜੋ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥
लेखु न मिटई हे सखी जो लिखिआ करतारि ॥
Lekẖ na mit▫ī he sakẖī jo likẖi▫ā karṯār.
The inscription inscribed by the Creator Lord cannot be erased, O my companions.
|
ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਗੁ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
आपे कारणु जिनि कीआ करि किरपा पगु धारि ॥
Āpe kāraṇ jin kī▫ā kar kirpā pag ḏẖār.
He who created the universe, in His Mercy, installs His Feet within us.
|
ਕਰਤੇ ਹਥਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
करते हथि वडिआईआ बूझहु गुर बीचारि ॥
Karṯe hath vaḏi▫ā▫ī▫ā būjẖhu gur bīcẖār.
Glorious greatness rests in the Hands of the Creator; reflect upon the Guru, and understand this.

ਲਿਖਿਆ ਫੇਰਿ ਨ ਸਕੀਐ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੀ ਤਿਉ ਸਾਰਿ ॥
लिखिआ फेरि न सकीऐ जिउ भावी तिउ सारि ॥
Likẖi▫ā fer na sakī▫ai ji▫o bẖāvī ṯi▫o sār.
This inscription cannot be challenged. As it pleases You, You care for me.

ਨਦਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
नदरि तेरी सुखु पाइआ नानक सबदु वीचारि ॥
Naḏar ṯerī sukẖ pā▫i▫ā Nānak sabaḏ vīcẖār.
By Your Glance of Grace, I have found peace; O Nanak, reflect upon the Shabad.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂਲੇ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਉਬਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
मनमुख भूले पचि मुए उबरे गुर बीचारि ॥
Manmukẖ bẖūle pacẖ mu▫e ubre gur bīcẖār.
The self-willed manmukhs are confused; they rot away and die. Only by reflecting upon the Guru can they be saved.

ਜਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
जि पुरखु नदरि न आवई तिस का किआ करि कहिआ जाइ ॥
Jė purakẖ naḏar na āvī ṯis kā ki▫ā kar kahi▫ā jā▫e.
What can anyone say, about that Primal Lord, who cannot be seen?

ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਦਿਤਾ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥੫੨॥
बलिहारी गुर आपणे जिनि हिरदै दिता दिखाइ ॥५२॥
Balihārī gur āpṇe jin hirḏai ḏiṯā ḏikẖā▫e. ||52||
I am a sacrifice to my Guru, who has revealed Him to me, within my own heart. ||52||

ਪਾਧਾ ਪੜਿਆ ਆਖੀਐ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਚਰੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
पाधा पड़िआ आखीऐ बिदिआ बिचरै सहजि सुभाइ ॥
Pāḏẖā paṛi▫ā ākẖī▫ai biḏi▫ā bicẖrai sahj subẖā▫e.
That Pandit, that religious scholar, is said to be well-educated, if he contemplates knowledge with intuitive ease.
