ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਬੇਤਾ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਅਮੁਲਿਆ ॥
सुंदरु सुघड़ु सुजाणु बेता गुण गोविंद अमुलिआ ॥
Sunḏar sugẖaṛ sujāṇ beṯā guṇ govinḏ amuli▫ā.
The Lord of the world is Beauteous, Accomplished, Omniscient and All-knowing and invaluable are His virtues.

ਵਡਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਭਈ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸ ਜੀਉ ॥
वडभागि पाइआ दुखु गवाइआ भई पूरन आस जीउ ॥
vadbẖāg pā▫i▫ā ḏukẖ gavā▫i▫ā bẖa▫ī pūran ās jī▫o.
By great good fortune, I have obtained my Lord. Dispelled is my grief and fulfilled are mine hopes.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਟੀ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
बिनवंति नानक सरणि तेरी मिटी जम की त्रास जीउ ॥२॥
Binvanṯ Nānak saraṇ ṯerī mitī jam kī ṯarās jī▫o. ||2||
Prays Nanak, entering Thy sanctuary, O Lord, my fear of death is dispelled.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਮੁਈ ਕਰਤੀ ਕਰਮ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
साधसंगति बिनु भ्रमि मुई करती करम अनेक ॥
Sāḏẖsangaṯ bin bẖaram mu▫ī karṯī karam anek.
Without the society of saints the woman (Sikh) dies wandering and performing various rituals.

ਕੋਮਲ ਬੰਧਨ ਬਾਧੀਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਮਹਿ ਲੇਖ ॥੧॥
कोमल बंधन बाधीआ नानक करमहि लेख ॥१॥
Komal banḏẖan bāḏẖī▫ā Nānak karmėh lekẖ. ||1||
She is bound in the soft bonds of the record of her past deeds, O Nanak.

ਜੋ ਭਾਣੇ ਸੇ ਮੇਲਿਆ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਭੀ ਆਪਿ ॥
जो भाणे से मेलिआ विछोड़े भी आपि ॥
Jo bẖāṇe se meli▫ā vicẖẖoṛe bẖī āp.
They, who art pleasing to God; Them He unites with Himself. He Himself separates man from Him too.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਵਡ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥੨॥
नानक प्रभ सरणागती जा का वड परतापु ॥२॥
Nānak parabẖ sarṇāgaṯī jā kā vad parṯāp. ||2||
Nanak has entered the sanctuary of the Lord, great is whose glory.

ਗ੍ਰੀਖਮ ਰੁਤਿ ਅਤਿ ਗਾਖੜੀ ਜੇਠ ਅਖਾੜੈ ਘਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
ग्रीखम रुति अति गाखड़ी जेठ अखाड़ै घाम जीउ ॥
Garīkẖam ruṯ aṯ gākẖ▫ṛī jeṯẖ akẖāṛai gẖām jī▫o.
In the months of Jeth and Harh of the summer season, the heat is intensely season, the heat is intensely severe.

ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਛੋਹੁ ਦੁਹਾਗਣੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨ ਕਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
प्रेम बिछोहु दुहागणी द्रिसटि न करी राम जीउ ॥
Parem bicẖẖohu ḏuhāgaṇī ḏarisat na karī rām jī▫o.
The discarded bride is separated from the love of her Groom and the Lord sees her not.

ਨਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਆਵੈ ਮਰਤ ਹਾਵੈ ਮਹਾ ਗਾਰਬਿ ਮੁਠੀਆ ॥
नह द्रिसटि आवै मरत हावै महा गारबि मुठीआ ॥
Nah ḏarisat āvai maraṯ hāvai mahā gārab muṯẖī▫ā.
She beholds her Lord Not, dies in agony and is defrauded by great pride.

ਜਲ ਬਾਝੁ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਤੜਫੜਾਵੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੁਠੀਆ ॥
जल बाझु मछुली तड़फड़ावै संगि माइआ रुठीआ ॥
Jal bājẖ macẖẖulī ṯaṛfaṛāvai sang mā▫i▫ā ruṯẖī▫ā.
Attached to riches, she is estranged with her Lord and flutters like a fish out of water.

ਕਰਿ ਪਾਪ ਜੋਨੀ ਭੈ ਭੀਤ ਹੋਈ ਦੇਇ ਸਾਸਨ ਜਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
करि पाप जोनी भै भीत होई देइ सासन जाम जीउ ॥
Kar pāp jonī bẖai bẖīṯ ho▫ī ḏe▫e sāsan jām jī▫o.
She commits sins, and is therefore stricken with the fear of entering into existences and death shall punish her.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਓਟ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਾਖੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
बिनवंति नानक ओट तेरी राखु पूरन काम जीउ ॥३॥
Binvanṯ Nānak ot ṯerī rākẖ pūran kām jī▫o. ||3||
Prays Nanak, preserve me in Thine asylum, O Lord, the Fulfiller of desires.

ਸਰਧਾ ਲਾਗੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੈ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਰਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
सरधा लागी संगि प्रीतमै इकु तिलु रहणु न जाइ ॥
Sarḏẖā lāgī sang parīṯamai ik ṯil rahaṇ na jā▫e.
I am attached in faithful love to my Beloved. Without Him, I can abide not even for an instant.

ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੧॥
मन तन अंतरि रवि रहे नानक सहजि सुभाइ ॥१॥
Man ṯan anṯar rav rahe Nānak sahj subẖā▫e. ||1||
Nanak, the Lord is permeating my soul and body all-too-spontaneously.

ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੀ ਸਾਜਨਹਿ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਮੀਤ ॥
करु गहि लीनी साजनहि जनम जनम के मीत ॥
Kar gėh līnī sājniĥ janam janam ke mīṯ.
He, who has been my Friend birth after birth; That intimate has taken me by my hand.

ਚਰਨਹ ਦਾਸੀ ਕਰਿ ਲਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਿਤ ਚੀਤ ॥੨॥
चरनह दासी करि लई नानक प्रभ हित चीत ॥२॥
Cẖarnah ḏāsī kar la▫ī Nānak parabẖ hiṯ cẖīṯ. ||2||
O Nanak, with hearty Love, the Lord has made me the hand-maiden of His feet.

ਰੁਤਿ ਬਰਸੁ ਸੁਹੇਲੀਆ ਸਾਵਣ ਭਾਦਵੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਜੀਉ ॥
रुति बरसु सुहेलीआ सावण भादवे आनंद जीउ ॥
Ruṯ baras suhelī▫ā sāvaṇ bẖāḏve ānanḏ jī▫o.
The pleasant rainy season of Sawan and Bhadon, bestows bliss.

ਘਣ ਉਨਵਿ ਵੁਠੇ ਜਲ ਥਲ ਪੂਰਿਆ ਮਕਰੰਦ ਜੀਉ ॥
घण उनवि वुठे जल थल पूरिआ मकरंद जीउ ॥
Gẖaṇ unav vuṯẖe jal thal pūri▫ā makranḏ jī▫o.
The low clouds rain and sea and land are filled with the water-honey.

ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬ ਠਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਭਰੇ ॥
प्रभु पूरि रहिआ सरब ठाई हरि नाम नव निधि ग्रिह भरे ॥
Parabẖ pūr rahi▫ā sarab ṯẖā▫ī har nām nav niḏẖ garih bẖare.
The Lord is fully filling all the places and with the nine treasures of God's Name all the heart-homes are fully-filled.

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਕੁਲ ਸਮੂਹਾ ਸਭਿ ਤਰੇ ॥
सिमरि सुआमी अंतरजामी कुल समूहा सभि तरे ॥
Simar su▫āmī anṯarjāmī kul samūhā sabẖ ṯare.
Contemplating the Lord, the Searcher of hearts, all the generations are wholly saved.

ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਰੰਗਿ ਜਾਗੇ ਨਹ ਛਿਦ੍ਰ ਲਾਗੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸਦ ਬਖਸਿੰਦੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
प्रिअ रंगि जागे नह छिद्र लागे क्रिपालु सद बखसिंदु जीउ ॥
Pari▫a rang jāge nah cẖẖiḏar lāge kirpāl saḏ bakẖsinḏ jī▫o.
Those who are awake in the love of their Beloved; To them no sin attaches, Ever Forgiving is my Merciful Master.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੰਦੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
बिनवंति नानक हरि कंतु पाइआ सदा मनि भावंदु जीउ ॥४॥
Binvanṯ Nānak har kanṯ pā▫i▫ā saḏā man bẖāvanḏ jī▫o. ||4||
Prays Nanak, I have obtained God, who is ever pleasing to my mind.

ਆਸ ਪਿਆਸੀ ਮੈ ਫਿਰਉ ਕਬ ਪੇਖਉ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
आस पिआसी मै फिरउ कब पेखउ गोपाल ॥
Ās pi▫āsī mai fira▫o kab pekẖa▫o gopāl.
Thirsty with desire, I wander, thinking when I shall behold my Lord.

ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਲਣਹਾਰ ॥੧॥
है कोई साजनु संत जनु नानक प्रभ मेलणहार ॥१॥
Hai ko▫ī sājan sanṯ jan Nānak parabẖ melaṇhār. ||1||
O Nanak, is there any friendly holyman, who may unite me with my Master?
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਮਿਲਬੇ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਊਪਜੈ ਤਿਲੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
बिनु मिलबे सांति न ऊपजै तिलु पलु रहणु न जाइ ॥
Bin milbe sāʼnṯ na ūpjai ṯil pal rahaṇ na jā▫e.
Without meeting Him, I am comforted not. I can abide not even for a moment and trice.

ਹਰਿ ਸਾਧਹ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਸ ਪੁਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
हरि साधह सरणागती नानक आस पुजाइ ॥२॥
Har sāḏẖah sarṇāgaṯī Nānak ās pujā▫e. ||2||
Entering the sanctuary of God's saints, Nanak's desires are fulfilled.

ਰੁਤਿ ਸਰਦ ਅਡੰਬਰੋ ਅਸੂ ਕਤਕੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਸ ਜੀਉ ॥
रुति सरद अड्मबरो असू कतके हरि पिआस जीउ ॥
Ruṯ saraḏ adambaro asū kaṯke har pi▫ās jī▫o.
In the months of Assu and Katik, preceding the cold season, I thirst for God and make preparation to meet Him.

ਖੋਜੰਤੀ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਫਿਰਤ ਕਬ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ਜੀਉ ॥
खोजंती दरसनु फिरत कब मिलीऐ गुणतास जीउ ॥
Kẖojanṯī ḏarsan firaṯ kab milī▫ai guṇṯās jī▫o.
Searching for His vision, I wander, thinking, when I shall meet my Lord, the Treasure of virtues.

ਬਿਨੁ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਹ ਸੂਖ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਾਰ ਕੰਙਣ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਬਨਾ ॥
बिनु कंत पिआरे नह सूख सारे हार कंङण ध्रिगु बना ॥
Bin kanṯ pi▫āre nah sūkẖ sāre hār kańaṇ ḏẖarig banā.
Without my Beloved Spouse, I obtain not all peace and accursed become my necklaces and bracelets.

ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਸੁਜਾਣਿ ਚਤੁਰਿ ਬੇਤੀ ਸਾਸ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੈਸੇ ਤਨਾ ॥
सुंदरि सुजाणि चतुरि बेती सास बिनु जैसे तना ॥
Sunḏar sujāṇ cẖaṯur beṯī sās bin jaise ṯanā.
However beauteous, wise, accomplished and all-knowing I may be, my body is, as if, it is without breath.

ਈਤ ਉਤ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਅਲੋਕਨ ਮਨਿ ਮਿਲਨ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਿਆਸ ਜੀਉ ॥
ईत उत दह दिस अलोकन मनि मिलन की प्रभ पिआस जीउ ॥
Īṯ uṯ ḏah ḏis alokan man milan kī parabẖ pi▫ās jī▫o.
I Look here, there and in ten directions for Him and my soul thirsts to meet my Lord.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਧਾਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥
बिनवंति नानक धारि किरपा मेलहु प्रभ गुणतास जीउ ॥५॥
Binvanṯ Nānak ḏẖār kirpā melhu parabẖ guṇṯās jī▫o. ||5||
Supplicates Nanak, O my Master, the Treasure of virtues show mercy and unite me with Thyself.

ਜਲਣਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਸੀਤਲ ਭਏ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਉਪਜੀ ਸਾਂਤਿ ॥
जलणि बुझी सीतल भए मनि तनि उपजी सांति ॥
Jalaṇ bujẖī sīṯal bẖa▫e man ṯan upjī sāʼnṯ.
My inner fire is quenched, am pacified and within my soul and body, peace has welled up.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੂਰਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਦੁਤੀਆ ਬਿਨਸੀ ਭ੍ਰਾਂਤਿ ॥੧॥
नानक प्रभ पूरन मिले दुतीआ बिनसी भ्रांति ॥१॥
Nānak parabẖ pūran mile ḏuṯī▫ā binsī bẖarāʼnṯ. ||1||
Nanak, I have met with my All-pervading Lord and my duality and doubt are dispelled.
