ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਵੀਰ ਕਰਾਰੇ ॥
Gaavan ṫuḋʰno jaṫee saṫee sanṫokʰee gaavan ṫuḋʰno veer karaaré.
The continents, the true and the patients sing Thine praises and the dauntless warriors, admire Thee.

ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪੜਨਿ ਰਖੀਸੁਰ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਵੇਦਾ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
Gaavan ṫuḋʰno pandiṫ paṛan rakʰeesur jug jug véḋaa naalé.
The scholars, the readers of the Vedas of all the ages, together with the seven supreme sages, exalt Thee.

ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਮੋਹਣੀਆ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਨਿ ਸੁਰਗੁ ਮਛੁ ਪਇਆਲੇ ॥
Gaavan ṫuḋʰno mohṇee▫aa man mohan surag machʰ pa▫i▫aalé.
The captivating she-seraphs, who beguile the heat in paradise, this world and the nether regions sing Thee.

ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਰਤਨ ਉਪਾਏ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
Gaavan ṫuḋʰno raṫan upaa▫é ṫéré atʰsatʰ ṫiraṫʰ naalé.
The (fourteen) invaluable objects, created by Thee with sixty-eight places of pilgrimage, hymn (Thee.)

ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਜੋਧ ਮਹਾਬਲ ਸੂਰਾ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਖਾਣੀ ਚਾਰੇ ॥
Gaavan ṫuḋʰno joḋʰ mahaabal sooraa gaavan ṫuḋʰno kʰaaṇee chaaré.
The supremely mighty warriors and Divine heroes sing Thee and the four sources of creation magnify Thee.

ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਖੰਡ ਮੰਡਲ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਖੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
Gaavan ṫuḋʰno kʰand mandal barahmandaa kar kar rakʰé ṫéré ḋʰaaré.
The continents the worlds and solar, system, created Thine glories.

ਸੇਈ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਨਿ ਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਰਸਾਲੇ ॥
Sé▫ee ṫuḋʰno gaavan jo ṫuḋʰ bʰaavan raṫé ṫéré bʰagaṫ rasaalé.
They also eulogise Thee, who are Thy saints and are pleasing to Thee and are steeped (in Name) and thy bliss impairing love.

ਹੋਰਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਸੇ ਮੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਨਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਿਆ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
Hor kéṫé ṫuḋʰno gaavan sé mæ chiṫ na aavan Naanak ki▫aa beechaaré.
Many others whom I cannot recollect within my mind, sing Thee. How can Nanak think of them.

ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਚੀ ਨਾਈ ॥
So▫ee so▫ee saḋaa sach saahib saachaa saachee naa▫ee.
That and that Lord is ever True. He is True, and True is His Name.

ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਸੀ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਜਾਸੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਚਾਈ ॥
Hæ bʰee hosee jaa▫é na jaasee rachnaa jin rachaa▫ee.
He, who created the creation is and shall also be. He shall not depart when the creation shall depart (disappear).

ਰੰਗੀ ਰੰਗੀ ਭਾਤੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਈ ॥
Rangee rangee bʰaaṫee kar kar jinsee maa▫i▫aa jin upaa▫ee.
(God), who fashioned the world, has by divers contrivances created the creation of various colors and kinds.
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਕੀਤਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਿਉ ਤਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Kar kar ḋékʰæ keeṫaa aapṇaa ji▫o ṫis ḋee vadi▫aa▫ee.
Having created the creation, He, as it pleases His Honour, beholds His handiwork.
|
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਸੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
Jo ṫis bʰaavæ so▫ee karsee fir hukam na karṇaa jaa▫ee.
Whatever pleases Him He does that. (To Him) then no one can issue an order.

ਸੋ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਤਿਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਹਣੁ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
So paaṫisaahu saahaa paṫisaahib Naanak rahaṇ rajaa▫ee. ||1||
He is the king the Emperor of the kings Nanak remains subjects to (His) will.
|
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
Aasaa mėhlaa 1.
Asa Measure, First Guru.
|
ਸੁਣਿ ਵਡਾ ਆਖੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
Suṇ vadaa aakʰæ sabʰ ko▫é.
By hearing every one calls Thee great (O Lord!),
|
ਕੇਵਡੁ ਵਡਾ ਡੀਠਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Kévad vadaa deetʰaa ho▫é.
But One, who has seen Thee Knows, how great Thou art.
|
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਇ ਨ ਕਹਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
Keemaṫ paa▫é na kahi▫aa jaa▫é.
None can appraise and narrate (Thee).
|
ਕਹਣੈ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
Kahṇæ vaalé ṫéré rahé samaa▫é. ||1||
Thine describers remain absorbed in Thee.
|
ਵਡੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰਾ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰਾ ॥
vadé méré saahibaa gahir gambʰeeraa guṇee gaheeraa.
O My great Master of unfathomable depth, (Thou art) an ocean of excellences.
|
ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੇਤਾ ਕੇਵਡੁ ਚੀਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Ko▫é na jaaṇæ ṫéraa kéṫaa kévad cheeraa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
None knows, how much and how great, Thy expanse is. Pause.
|
ਸਭਿ ਸੁਰਤੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
Sabʰ surṫee mil suraṫ kamaa▫ee.
All the contemplatives have met and practised contemplation.
|
ਸਭ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
Sabʰ keemaṫ mil keemaṫ paa▫ee.
All the appraisers, having met together, have appraises (Thy) worth.
|
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰਹਾਈ ॥
Gi▫aanee ḋʰi▫aanee gur gur▫haa▫ee.
The theologians, the visualisers and they, who are the preachers of preachers, (have described Thee.)
|
ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਤੇਰੀ ਤਿਲੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
Kahaṇ na jaa▫ee ṫéree ṫil vadi▫aa▫ee. ||2||
They cannot tell even an iota of Thy greatness.
|
ਸਭਿ ਸਤ ਸਭਿ ਤਪ ਸਭਿ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ॥
Sabʰ saṫ sabʰ ṫap sabʰ chang▫aa▫ee▫aa.
All truths, all austerities all goodness
|
ਸਿਧਾ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਕੀਆ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ॥
Siḋʰaa purkʰaa kee▫aa vaḋi▫aa▫ee▫aa.
and the magnificences of the men of occult powers,
|
ਤੁਧੁ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਿਧੀ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈਆ ॥
Ṫuḋʰ viṇ siḋʰee kinæ na paa▫ee▫aa.
without Thee none has ever attained such power.
|
ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਈਆ ॥੩॥
Karam milæ naahee tʰaak rahaa▫ee▫aa. ||3||
With Thy grace they are procured No one can obstruct and stop (their flow).
|
ਆਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕਿਆ ਵੇਚਾਰਾ ॥
Aakʰaṇ vaalaa ki▫aa véchaaraa.
What can the helpless creatures do?
|
ਸਿਫਤੀ ਭਰੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
Sifṫee bʰaré ṫéré bʰandaaraa.
Thine treasure are brimful with Thy praises,
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਦੇਹਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਿਆ ਚਾਰਾ ॥
Jis ṫoo ḋėh ṫisæ ki▫aa chaaraa.
Why should he, whom. Thou givest, think of some other means?
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
Naanak sach savaaraṇhaaraa. ||4||2||
O Nanak! The True one Himself is the decorator.
|
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
Aasaa mėhlaa 1.
Asa Measure, First Guru.
|
ਆਖਾ ਜੀਵਾ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
Aakʰaa jeevaa visræ mar jaa▫o.
By repeating thy Name, I live, by forgetting it I die.
|
ਆਖਣਿ ਅਉਖਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
Aakʰaṇ a▫ukʰaa saachaa naa▫o.
Difficult to utter is the True Name.
|
ਸਾਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਭੂਖ ॥
Saaché naam kee laagæ bʰookʰ.
If man feels hunger for the True Name,
|
ਉਤੁ ਭੂਖੈ ਖਾਇ ਚਲੀਅਹਿ ਦੂਖ ॥੧॥
Uṫ bʰookʰæ kʰaa▫é chalee▫ahi ḋookʰ. ||1||
that hunger shall consume his pains.
|
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇ ॥
So ki▫o visræ méree maa▫é.
How can He be forgotten O my Mother?
|
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Saachaa saahib saachæ naa▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
True is the Lord and true His Name, O my Mother? Pause.
|
ਸਾਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਤਿਲੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Saaché naam kee ṫil vadi▫aa▫ee.
Recounting the greatness of the True name,
|
ਆਖਿ ਥਕੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
Aakʰ ṫʰaké keemaṫ nahee paa▫ee.
Men have grown weary but they have not been able to appraise even a jot of it.
|
ਜੇ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਆਖਣ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
Jé sabʰ mil kæ aakʰaṇ paahi.
If all men meet and glorify Thee,
|
ਵਡਾ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਘਾਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
vadaa na hovæ gʰaat na jaa▫é. ||2||
Thou would neither grow greater nor lesser.
|
ਨਾ ਓਹੁ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
Naa oh maræ na hovæ sog.
That Lord dies not, nor there is any mourning.
|
ਦੇਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ਭੋਗੁ ॥
Ḋéḋaa rahæ na chookæ bʰog.
He continues to give; His provisions never run short.
|
ਗੁਣੁ ਏਹੋ ਹੋਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
Guṇ ého hor naahee ko▫é.
This alone is His merit that none else is like Him.
|
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਹੋਆ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
Naa ko ho▫aa naa ko ho▫é. ||3||
There has been none, nor there shall be any.
|
ਜੇਵਡੁ ਆਪਿ ਤੇਵਡ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
Jévad aap ṫévad ṫéree ḋaaṫ.
As great as Thou art, O; Lord! so, great are Thine gift.
