ਮਨੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥
Man kīno ḏah ḏis bisrām.
but your mind wanders in the ten directions.

ਤਿਲਕੁ ਚਰਾਵੈ ਪਾਈ ਪਾਇ ॥
Ŧilak cẖarāvai pā▫ī pā▫e.
You apply a ceremonial tilak mark to its forehead, and fall at its feet.
|
ਲੋਕ ਪਚਾਰਾ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
Lok pacẖārā anḏẖ kamā▫e. ||2||
You try to appease the people, and act blindly. ||2||
|
ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਅਰੁ ਆਸਣੁ ਧੋਤੀ ॥
Kẖat karmā ar āsaṇ ḏẖoṯī.
You perform the six religious rituals, and sit wearing your loin-cloth.
|
ਭਾਗਠਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਪੜੈ ਨਿਤ ਪੋਥੀ ॥
Bẖāgaṯẖ garihi paṛai niṯ pothī.
In the homes of the wealthy, you read the prayer book.
|
ਮਾਲਾ ਫੇਰੈ ਮੰਗੈ ਬਿਭੂਤ ॥
Mālā ferai mangai bibẖūṯ.
You chant on your mala, and beg for money.
|
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਤਰਿਓ ਮੀਤ ॥੩॥
Ih biḏẖ ko▫e na ṯari▫o mīṯ. ||3||
No one has ever been saved in this way, friend. ||3||
|
ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
So pandiṯ gur sabaḏ kamā▫e.
He alone is a Pandit, who lives the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
|
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਕੀ ਓਸੁ ਉਤਰੀ ਮਾਇ ॥
Ŧarai guṇ kī os uṯrī mā▫e.
Maya, of the three qualities, leaves him.
|
ਚਤੁਰ ਬੇਦ ਪੂਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥
Cẖaṯur beḏ pūran har nā▫e.
The four Vedas are completely contained within the Lord's Name.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸਰਣੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੭॥
Nānak ṯis kī sarṇī pā▫e. ||4||6||17||
Nanak seeks His Sanctuary. ||4||6||17||

ਕੋਟਿ ਬਿਘਨ ਨਹੀ ਆਵਹਿ ਨੇਰਿ ॥
Kot bigẖan nahī āvahi ner.
Millions of troubles do not come near him;
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਚੇਰਿ ॥
Anik mā▫i▫ā hai ṯā kī cẖer.
the many manifestations of Maya are his hand-maidens;
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਪਾਪ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪਾਨੀਹਾਰ ॥
Anik pāp ṯā ke pānīhār.
countless sins are his water-carriers;
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਮਇਆ ਭਈ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥੧॥
Jā ka▫o ma▫i▫ā bẖa▫ī karṯār. ||1||
he is blessed with the Grace of the Creator Lord. ||1||
|
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਹੋਇ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥
Jisahi sahā▫ī ho▫e bẖagvān.
One who has the Lord God as his help and support -
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਜਤਨ ਉਆ ਕੈ ਸਰੰਜਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Anik jaṯan u▫ā kai saraʼnjām. ||1|| rahā▫o.
all his efforts are fulfilled. ||1||Pause||
|
ਕਰਤਾ ਰਾਖੈ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਉਨੁ ॥
Karṯā rākẖai kīṯā ka▫un.
He is protected by the Creator Lord; what harm can anyone do to him?
|
ਕੀਰੀ ਜੀਤੋ ਸਗਲਾ ਭਵਨੁ ॥
Kīrī jīṯo saglā bẖavan.
Even an ant can conquer the whole world.
|
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੇਤਕ ਬਰਨ ॥
Be▫anṯ mahimā ṯā kī keṯak baran.
His glory is endless; how can I describe it?
|
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ॥੨॥
Bal bal jā▫ī▫ai ṯā ke cẖaran. ||2||
I am a sacrifice, a devoted sacrifice, to His feet. ||2||
|
ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਕੀਆ ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
Ŧin hī kī▫ā jap ṯap ḏẖi▫ān.
He alone performs worship, austerities and meditation;
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
Anik parkār kī▫ā ṯin ḏān.
he alone is a giver to various charities;
|
ਭਗਤੁ ਸੋਈ ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
Bẖagaṯ so▫ī kal mėh parvān.
he alone is approved in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga,
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
Jā ka▫o ṯẖākur ḏī▫ā mān. ||3||
whom the Lord Master blesses with honor. ||3||
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਭਏ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥
Sāḏẖsang mil bẖa▫e pargās.
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I am enlightened.
|
ਸਹਜ ਸੂਖ ਆਸ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥
Sahj sūkẖ ās nivās.
I have found celestial peace, and my hopes are fulfilled.
|
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਬਿਸਾਸ ॥
Pūrai saṯgur ḏī▫ā bisās.
The Perfect True Guru has blessed me with faith.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਏ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੮॥
Nānak ho▫e ḏāsan ḏās. ||4||7||18||
Nanak is the slave of His slaves. ||4||7||18||

ਦੋਸੁ ਨ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਾਹੂ ਲੋਗ ॥
Ḏos na ḏījai kāhū log.
Don't blame others, O people;
|
ਜੋ ਕਮਾਵਨੁ ਸੋਈ ਭੋਗ ॥
Jo kamāvan so▫ī bẖog.
as you plant, so shall you harvest.
|
ਆਪਨ ਕਰਮ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਬੰਧ ॥
Āpan karam āpe hī banḏẖ.
By your actions, you have bound yourself.
|
ਆਵਨੁ ਜਾਵਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਧੰਧ ॥੧॥
Āvan jāvan mā▫i▫ā ḏẖanḏẖ. ||1||
You come and go, entangled in Maya. ||1||
|
ਐਸੀ ਜਾਨੀ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੀ ॥
Aisī jānī sanṯ janī.
Such is the understanding of the Saintly people.
|
ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਭਇਆ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Pargās bẖa▫i▫ā pūre gur bacẖnī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
You shall be enlightened, through the Word of the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause||
|
ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਕਲਤੁ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥
Ŧan ḏẖan kalaṯ mithi▫ā bisthār.
Body, wealth, spouse and ostentatious displays are false.
|
ਹੈਵਰ ਗੈਵਰ ਚਾਲਨਹਾਰ ॥
Haivar gaivar cẖālanhār.
Horses and elephants will pass away.
|
ਰਾਜ ਰੰਗ ਰੂਪ ਸਭਿ ਕੂਰ ॥
Rāj rang rūp sabẖ kūr.
Power, pleasures and beauty are all false.
|
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਸੀ ਧੂਰ ॥੨॥
Nām binā ho▫e jāsī ḏẖūr. ||2||
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, everything is reduced to dust. ||2||
|
ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਬਾਦਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥
Bẖaram bẖūle bāḏ ahaʼnkārī.
The egotistical people are deluded by useless doubt.
|
ਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਪਸਾਰੀ ॥
Sang nāhī re sagal pasārī.
Of all this expanse, nothing shall go along with you.
|
ਸੋਗ ਹਰਖ ਮਹਿ ਦੇਹ ਬਿਰਧਾਨੀ ॥
Sog harakẖ mėh ḏeh birḏẖānī.
Through pleasure and pain, the body is growing old.
|
ਸਾਕਤ ਇਵ ਹੀ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਹਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
Sākaṯ iv hī karaṯ bihānī. ||3||
Doing these things, the faithless cynics are passing their lives. ||3||
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕਲਿ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Har kā nām amriṯ kal māhi.
The Name of the Lord is Ambrosial Nectar in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga.

ਏਹੁ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ਸਾਧੂ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
Ėhu niḏẖānā sāḏẖū pāhi.
This treasure is obtained from the Holy.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿਦੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂਠਾ ॥
Nānak gur goviḏ jis ṯūṯẖā.
O Nanak, whoever pleases the Guru,
|
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਮਈਆ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੯॥
Gẖat gẖat rama▫ī▫ā ṯin hī dīṯẖā. ||4||8||19||
the Lord of the Universe, beholds the Lord in each and every heart. ||4||8||19||

Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:

ਪੰਚ ਸਬਦ ਤਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਨਾਦ ॥
Pancẖ sabaḏ ṯah pūran nāḏ.
The Panch Shabad, the five primal sounds, echo the perfect sound current of the Naad.
|
ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਜੇ ਅਚਰਜ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥
Anhaḏ bāje acẖraj bismāḏ.
The wondrous, amazing unstruck melody vibrates.
|
ਕੇਲ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਲੋਗ ॥
Kel karahi sanṯ har log.
The Saintly people play there with the Lord.
|
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਨਿਰਜੋਗ ॥੧॥
Pārbarahm pūran nirjog. ||1||
They remain totally detached, absorbed in the Supreme Lord God. ||1||
|
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਭਵਨ ॥
Sūkẖ sahj ānanḏ bẖavan.
It is the realm of celestial peace and bliss.
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬੈਸਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਤਹ ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਨਹੀ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sāḏẖsang bais guṇ gāvahi ṯah rog sog nahī janam maran. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, sits and sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. There is no disease or sorrow there, no birth or death. ||1||Pause||
|
ਊਹਾ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
Ūhā simrahi keval nām.
There, they meditate only on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
|
ਬਿਰਲੇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਓਹੁ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥
Birle pāvahi oh bisrām.
How rare are those who find this place of rest.
|
ਭੋਜਨੁ ਭਾਉ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
Bẖojan bẖā▫o kīrṯan āḏẖār.
The love of God is their food, and the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise is their support.
