ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਲੇਖੈ ਲਾਇ ॥
Saṯgur seve āpṇā so sir lekẖai lā▫e.
Those who serve their True Guru are certified and accepted.

ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਕੈ ਰਹਨਿ ਸਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
vicẖahu āp gavā▫e kai rahan sacẖ liv lā▫e.
They eradicate selfishness and conceit from within; they remain lovingly absorbed in the True One.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਤਿਨਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
Saṯgur jinī na sevi▫o ṯinā birthā janam gavā▫e.
Those who do not serve the True Guru waste away their lives in vain.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
Nānak jo ṯis bẖāvai so kare kahṇā kicẖẖū na jā▫e. ||1||
O Nanak, the Lord does just as He pleases. No one has any say in this. ||1||

Third Mehl:

ਮਨੁ ਵੇਕਾਰੀ ਵੇੜਿਆ ਵੇਕਾਰਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
Man vekārī veṛi▫ā vekārā karam kamā▫e.
With the mind encircled by wickedness and evil, people do evil deeds.
|
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਪੂਜਦੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
Ḏūjai bẖā▫e agi▫ānī pūjḏe ḏargėh milai sajā▫e.
The ignorant worship the love of duality; in the Lord's Court they shall be punished.

ਆਤਮ ਦੇਉ ਪੂਜੀਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
Āṯam ḏe▫o pūjī▫ai bin saṯgur būjẖ na pā▫e.
So worship the Lord, the Light of the soul; without the True Guru, understanding is not obtained.

ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
Jap ṯap sanjam bẖāṇā saṯgurū kā karmī palai pā▫e.
Meditation, penance and austere self-discipline are found by surrendering to the True Guru's Will. By His Grace this is received.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
Nānak sevā suraṯ kamāvṇī jo har bẖāvai so thā▫e pā▫e. ||2||
O Nanak, serve with this intuitive awareness; only that which is pleasing to the Lord is approved. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ॥
Har har nām japahu man mere jiṯ saḏā sukẖ hovai ḏin rāṯī.
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my mind; it will bring you eternal peace, day and night.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਾਤੀ ॥
Har har nām japahu man mere jiṯ simraṯ sabẖ kilvikẖ pāp lahāṯī.
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my mind; meditating on it, all sins and misdeeds shall be erased.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਿਤੁ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਦੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਸਭ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਤੀ ॥
Har har nām japahu man mere jiṯ ḏālaḏ ḏukẖ bẖukẖ sabẖ lėh jāṯī.
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my mind; through it, all poverty, pain and hunger shall be removed.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਤੀ ॥
Har har nām japahu man mere mukẖ gurmukẖ parīṯ lagāṯī.
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my mind; as Gurmukh, declare your love.

ਜਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਤੀ ॥੧੩॥
Jiṯ mukẖ bẖāg likẖi▫ā ḏẖur sācẖai har ṯiṯ mukẖ nām japāṯī. ||13||
One who has such pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon his forehead by the True Lord, chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||13||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਕੀਤੋ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
Saṯgur jinī na sevi▫o sabaḏ na kīṯo vīcẖār.
Those who do not serve the True Guru, and who do not contemplate the Word of the Shabad -

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਮਿਰਤਕੁ ਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
Anṯar gi▫ān na ā▫i▫o mirṯak hai sansār.
spiritual wisdom does not enter into their hearts; they are like dead bodies in the world.

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਫੇਰੁ ਪਇਆ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
Lakẖ cẖa▫orāsīh fer pa▫i▫ā mar jammai ho▫e kẖu▫ār.
They go through the cycle of 8.4 million reincarnations, and they are ruined through death and rebirth.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਸੋਇ ॥
Saṯgur kī sevā so kare jis no āp karā▫e so▫e.
He alone serves the True Guru, whom the Lord Himself inspires to do so.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
Saṯgur vicẖ nām niḏẖān hai karam parāpaṯ ho▫e.
The Treasure of the Naam is within the True Guru; by His Grace, it is obtained.

ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਸਿਉ ਤਿਨ ਸਚੀ ਸਦਾ ਲਿਵ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sacẖ raṯe gur sabaḏ si▫o ṯin sacẖī saḏā liv ho▫e.
Those who are truly attuned to the Word of the Guru's Shabad-their love is forever True.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਮੇਲੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
Nānak jis no mele na vicẖẖuṛai sahj samāvai so▫e. ||1||
O Nanak, those who are united with Him shall not be separated again. They merge imperceptibly into God. ||1||

ਸੋ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਜੋੁ ਭਗਵੰਤੈ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
So bẖag▫uṯī jo bẖagvanṯai jāṇai.
One who knows the Benevolent Lord God is the true devotee of Bhagaautee.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
Gur parsādī āp pacẖẖāṇai.
By Guru's Grace, he is self-realized.
|
ਧਾਵਤੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਣੈ ॥
Ḏẖāvaṯ rākẖai ikaṯ gẖar āṇai.
He restrains his wandering mind, and brings it back to its own home within the self.
|
ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
Jīvaṯ marai har nām vakẖāṇai.
He remains dead while yet alive, and he chants the Name of the Lord.
|
ਐਸਾ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਉਤਮੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Aisā bẖag▫uṯī uṯam ho▫e.
Such a Bhagaautee is most exalted.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
Nānak sacẖ samāvai so▫e. ||2||
O Nanak, he merges into the True One. ||2||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਕਹਾਏ ॥
Anṯar kapat bẖag▫uṯī kahā▫e.
He is full of deceit, and yet he calls himself a devotee of Bhagaautee.
|
ਪਾਖੰਡਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
Pakẖand pārbarahm kaḏe na pā▫e.
Through hypocrisy, he shall never attain the Supreme Lord God.
|
ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੇ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਲੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
Par ninḏā kare anṯar mal lā▫e.
He slanders others, and pollutes himself with his own filth.
|
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਵੈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਜੂਠਿ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥
Bāhar mal ḏẖovai man kī jūṯẖ na jā▫e.
Outwardly, he washes off the filth, but the impurity of his mind does not go away.

ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਬਾਦੁ ਰਚਾਏ ॥
Saṯsangaṯ si▫o bāḏ racẖā▫e.
He argues with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਰਚਾਏ ॥
An▫ḏin ḏukẖī▫ā ḏūjai bẖā▫e racẖā▫e.
Night and day, he suffers, engrossed in the love of duality.
|
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
Har nām na cẖeṯai baho karam kamā▫e.
He does not remember the Name of the Lord, but still, he performs all sorts of empty rituals.
|
ਪੂਰਬ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੁ ਮੇਟਣਾ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥
Pūrab likẖi▫ā so metṇā na jā▫e.
That which is pre-ordained cannot be erased.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਮੋਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥੩॥
Nānak bin saṯgur seve mokẖ na pā▫e. ||3||
O Nanak, without serving the True Guru, liberation is not obtained. ||3||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਸੇ ਕੜਿ ਨ ਸਵਾਹੀ ॥
Saṯgur jinī ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā se kaṛ na savāhī.
Those who meditate on the True Guru shall not be burnt to ashes.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਸੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਹੀ ॥
Saṯgur jinī ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā se ṯaripaṯ agẖāhī.
Those who meditate on the True Guru are satisfied and fulfilled.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਡਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Saṯgur jinī ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā ṯin jam dar nāhī.
Those who meditate on the True Guru are not afraid of the Messenger of Death.
