Garihi sobẖā jā kai re nāhi.
When someone's household has no glory,

Āvaṯ pahī▫ā kẖūḏẖe jāhi.
the guests who come there depart still hungry.

vā kai anṯar nahī sanṯokẖ.
Deep within, there is no contentment.

Bin sohāgan lāgai ḏokẖ. ||1||
Without his bride, the wealth of Maya, he suffers in pain. ||1||

Ḏẖan sohāgan mahā pavīṯ.
So praise this bride the chaste of all,

Ŧape ṯapīsar dolai cẖīṯ. ||1|| rahā▫o.
who can shake the consciousness of even the most dedicated ascetics and sages. ||1||Pause||

Sohāgan kirpan kī pūṯī.
This bride is the daughter of a wretched miser.

Sevak ṯaj jagaṯ si▫o sūṯī.
Abandoning the Lord's servant, she sleeps with the world.

Sāḏẖū kai ṯẖādẖī ḏarbār.
Standing at the door of the holy man,

Saran ṯerī mo ka▫o nisṯār. ||2||
she says, "I have come to your sanctuary; now save me!"||2||

Sohāgan hai aṯ sunḏrī.
This bride is so beautiful.

Pag nevar cẖẖanak cẖẖanharī.
The bells on her ankles make soft music.

Ja▫o lag parān ṯa▫ū lag sange.
As long as there is the breath of life in the man, she remains attached to him.

Nāhi ṯa cẖalī beg uṯẖ nange. ||3||
But when it is no more, she quickly gets up and departs, bare-footed. ||3||

Sohāgan bẖavan ṯarai lī▫ā.
This bride has conquered the three worlds.

Ḏas aṯẖ purāṇ ṯirath ras kī▫ā.
The eighteen Puraanas and the sacred shrines of pilgrimage love her as well.

Barahmā bisan mahesar beḏẖe.
She pierced the hearts of Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu.

Bade bẖūpaṯ rāje hai cẖẖeḏẖe. ||4||
She destroyed the great emperors and kings of the world. ||4||

Sohāgan urvār na pār.
This bride has no restraint or limits.

Pāʼncẖ nāraḏ kai sang biḏẖvār.
She is in collusion with the five thieving passions.

Pāʼncẖ nāraḏ ke mitve fūte.
When the clay pot of these five passions bursts,

Kaho Kabīr gur kirpā cẖẖūte. ||5||5||8||
then, says Kabeer, by Guru's Mercy, one is released. ||5||5||8||

Gond:

Jaise manḏar mėh balhar nā ṯẖāhrai.
As the house will not stand when the supporting beams are removed from within it,

Nām binā kaise pār uṯrai.
just so, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, how can anyone be carried across?

Kumbẖ binā jal nā tīkāvai.
Without the pitcher, the water is not contained;

Sāḏẖū bin aise abgaṯ jāvai. ||1||
just so, without the Holy Saint, the mortal departs in misery. ||1||

Jāra▫o ṯisai jo rām na cẖeṯai.
One who does not remember the Lord - let him burn;

Ŧan man ramaṯ rahai mėh kẖeṯai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
his body and mind have remained absorbed in this field of the world. ||1||Pause||

Jaise halhar binā jimī nahī bo▫ī▫ai.
Without a farmer, the land is not planted;

Sūṯ binā kaise maṇī paroī▫ai.
without a thread, how can the beads be strung?

Gẖundī bin ki▫ā ganṯẖ cẖaṛĥā▫ī▫ai.
Without a loop, how can the knot be tied?

Sāḏẖū bin ṯaise abgaṯ jā▫ī▫ai. ||2||
Just so, without the Holy Saint, the mortal departs in misery. ||2||

Jaise māṯ piṯā bin bāl na ho▫ī.
Without a mother or father there is no child;

Bimb binā kaise kapre ḏẖo▫ī.
just so, without water, how can the clothes be washed?

Gẖor binā kaise asvār.
Without a horse, how can there be a rider?

Sāḏẖū bin nāhī ḏarvār. ||3||
Without the Holy Saint, one cannot reach the Court of the Lord. ||3||

Jaise bāje bin nahī lījai ferī.
Just as without music, there is no dancing,

Kẖasam ḏuhāgan ṯaj a▫uherī.
the bride rejected by her husband is dishonored.

Kahai Kabīr ekai kar karnā.
Says Kabeer, do this one thing:

Gurmukẖ ho▫e bahur nahī marnā. ||4||6||9||
become Gurmukh, and you shall never die again. ||4||6||9||

Kūtan so▫e jo man ka▫o kūtai.
He alone is a pimp, who pounds down his mind.

Man kūtai ṯa▫o jam ṯe cẖẖūtai.
Pounding down his mind, he escapes from the Messenger of Death.

Kut kut man kasvatī lāvai.
Pounding and beating his mind, he puts it to the test;

So kūtan mukaṯ baho pāvai. ||1||
such a pimp attains total liberation. ||1||

Kūtan kisai kahhu sansār.
Who is called a pimp in this world?

Sagal bolan ke māhi bīcẖār. ||1|| rahā▫o.
In all speech, one must carefully consider. ||1||Pause||

Nācẖan so▫e jo man si▫o nācẖai.
He alone is a dancer, who dances with his mind.

Jẖūṯẖ na paṯī▫ai parcẖai sācẖai.
The Lord is not satisfied with falsehood; He is pleased only with Truth.

Is man āge pūrai ṯāl.
So play the beat of the drum in the mind.

Is nācẖan ke man rakẖvāl. ||2||
The Lord is the Protector of the dancer with such a mind. ||2||

Bajārī so jo bajārahi soḏẖai.
She alone is a street-dancer, who cleanses her body-street,

Pāʼncẖ palīṯėh ka▫o parboḏẖai.
and educates the five passions.

Na▫o nā▫ik kī bẖagaṯ pacẖẖānai.
She who embraces devotional worship for the Lord -

So bājārī ham gur māne. ||3||
I accept such a street-dancer as my Guru. ||3||

Ŧaskar so▫e jė ṯāṯ na karai.
He alone is a thief, who is above envy,

Inḏrī kai jaṯan nām ucẖrai.
and who uses his sense organs to chant the Lord's Name.

Kaho Kabīr ham aise lakẖan.
Says Kabeer, these are the qualities of the one

Ḏẖan gurḏev aṯ rūp bicẖkẖan. ||4||7||10||
I know as my Blessed Divine Guru, who is the most beautiful and wise. ||4||7||10||
