सलोक मः ३ ॥
Salok mėhlā 3.
Shalok, Third Mehl:
|
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬਿੰਦਹਿ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾ ਜੇ ਚਲਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥
ब्रहमु बिंदहि ते ब्राहमणा जे चलहि सतिगुर भाइ ॥
Barahm binḏėh ṯe barahmaṇā je cẖalėh saṯgur bẖā▫e.
He alone knows God, and he alone is a Brahmin, who walks in harmony with the Will of the True Guru.

ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
जिन कै हिरदै हरि वसै हउमै रोगु गवाइ ॥
Jin kai hirḏai har vasai ha▫umai rog gavā▫e.
One whose heart is filled with the Lord, is freed of egotism and disease.

ਗੁਣ ਰਵਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਹਿ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
गुण रवहि गुण संग्रहहि जोती जोति मिलाइ ॥
Guṇ ravėh guṇ sangar▫hahi joṯī joṯ milā▫e.
He chants the Lord's Praises, gathers virtue, and his light merges into the Light.

ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬਿੰਦਹਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
इसु जुग महि विरले ब्राहमण ब्रहमु बिंदहि चितु लाइ ॥
Is jug mėh virle barāhmaṇ barahm binḏėh cẖiṯ lā▫e.
How rare are those Brahmins who, in this age, come to know God, by lovingly focusing their consciousness on Him.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਸੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
नानक जिन्ह कउ नदरि करे हरि सचा से नामि रहे लिव लाइ ॥१॥
Nānak jinĥ ka▫o naḏar kare har sacẖā se nām rahe liv lā▫e. ||1||
O Nanak, those who are blessed by the Lord's Glance of Grace, remain lovingly attuned to the Name of the True Lord. ||1||

Third Mehl:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਕੀਤੀਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਲਗੋ ਭਾਉ ॥
सतिगुर की सेव न कीतीआ सबदि न लगो भाउ ॥
Saṯgur kī sev na kīṯī▫ā sabaḏ na lago bẖā▫o.
One who does not serve the True Guru, and who does not love the Word of the Shabad,
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਅਤਿ ਦੀਰਘੁ ਬਹੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
हउमै रोगु कमावणा अति दीरघु बहु सुआउ ॥
Ha▫umai rog kamāvaṇā aṯ ḏīragẖ baho su▫ā▫o.
earns the very painful disease of egotism; he is so very selfish.

ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਣੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
मनहठि करम कमावणे फिरि फिरि जोनी पाइ ॥
Manhaṯẖ karam kamāvṇe fir fir jonī pā▫e.
Acting stubborn-mindedly, he is reincarnated over and over again.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
गुरमुखि जनमु सफलु है जिस नो आपे लए मिलाइ ॥
Gurmukẖ janam safal hai jis no āpe la▫e milā▫e.
The birth of the Gurmukh is fruitful and auspicious. The Lord unites him with Himself.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
नानक नदरी नदरि करे ता नाम धनु पलै पाइ ॥२॥
Nānak naḏrī naḏar kare ṯā nām ḏẖan palai pā▫e. ||2||
O Nanak, when the Merciful Lord grants His Mercy, one obtains the wealth of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||

ਸਭ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
सभ वडिआईआ हरि नाम विचि हरि गुरमुखि धिआईऐ ॥
Sabẖ vaḏi▫ā▫ī▫ā har nām vicẖ har gurmukẖ ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai.
All glorious greatness is in the Name of the Lord; as Gurmukh, meditate on the Lord.

ਜਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਸਾਈ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥
जि वसतु मंगीऐ साई पाईऐ जे नामि चितु लाईऐ ॥
Jė vasaṯ mangī▫ai sā▫ī pā▫ī▫ai je nām cẖiṯ lā▫ī▫ai.
One obtains all that he asks for, if he keeps his consciousness focused on the Lord.

ਗੁਹਜ ਗਲ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਕੀਚੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸਿ ਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
गुहज गल जीअ की कीचै सतिगुरू पासि ता सरब सुखु पाईऐ ॥
Guhaj gal jī▫a kī kīcẖai saṯgurū pās ṯā sarab sukẖ pā▫ī▫ai.
If he tells the secrets of his soul to the True Guru, then he finds absolute peace.

ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਦੇਇ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
गुरु पूरा हरि उपदेसु देइ सभ भुख लहि जाईऐ ॥
Gur pūrā har upḏes ḏe▫e sabẖ bẖukẖ lėh jā▫ī▫ai.
When the Perfect Guru bestows the Lord's Teachings, then all hunger departs.

ਜਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
जिसु पूरबि होवै लिखिआ सो हरि गुण गाईऐ ॥३॥
Jis pūrab hovai likẖi▫ā so har guṇ gā▫ī▫ai. ||3||
One who is blessed with such pre-ordained destiny, sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਖਾਲੀ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
सतिगुर ते खाली को नही मेरै प्रभि मेलि मिलाए ॥
Saṯgur ṯe kẖālī ko nahī merai parabẖ mel milā▫e.
No one goes away empty-handed from the True Guru; He unites me in Union with my God.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਹੈ ਜੇਹਾ ਕੋ ਇਛੇ ਤੇਹਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
सतिगुर का दरसनु सफलु है जेहा को इछे तेहा फलु पाए ॥
Saṯgur kā ḏarsan safal hai jehā ko icẖẖe ṯehā fal pā▫e.
Fruitful is the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of the True Guru; through it, one obtains whatever fruitful rewards he desires.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
गुर का सबदु अम्रितु है सभ त्रिसना भुख गवाए ॥
Gur kā sabaḏ amriṯ hai sabẖ ṯarisnā bẖukẖ gavā▫e.
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is Ambrosial Nectar. It banishes all hunger and thirst.

ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਚੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥
हरि रसु पी संतोखु होआ सचु वसिआ मनि आए ॥
Har ras pī sanṯokẖ ho▫ā sacẖ vasi▫ā man ā▫e.
Drinking in the sublime essence of the Lord brings contentment; the True Lord comes to dwell in the mind.

ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ ਵਜਾਏ ॥
सचु धिआइ अमरा पदु पाइआ अनहद सबद वजाए ॥
Sacẖ ḏẖi▫ā▫e amrā paḏ pā▫i▫ā anhaḏ sabaḏ vajā▫e.
Meditating on the True Lord, the status of immortality is obtained; the Unstruck Word of the Shabad vibrates and resounds.

ਸਚੋ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
सचो दह दिसि पसरिआ गुर कै सहजि सुभाए ॥
Sacẖo ḏah ḏis pasri▫ā gur kai sahj subẖā▫e.
The True Lord is pervading in the ten directions; through the Guru, this is intuitively known.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਛਪਹਿ ਨ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੇ ਛਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
नानक जिन अंदरि सचु है से जन छपहि न किसै दे छपाए ॥१॥
Nānak jin anḏar sacẖ hai se jan cẖẖapėh na kisai ḏe cẖẖapā▫e. ||1||
O Nanak, those humble beings who have the Truth deep within, are never hidden, even if others try to hide them. ||1||

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
गुर सेवा ते हरि पाईऐ जा कउ नदरि करेइ ॥
Gur sevā ṯe har pā▫ī▫ai jā ka▫o naḏar kare▫i.
Serving the Guru, one finds the Lord, when the Lord blesses him with His Glance of Grace.

ਮਾਨਸ ਤੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਭਏ ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
मानस ते देवते भए सची भगति जिसु देइ ॥
Mānas ṯe ḏevṯe bẖa▫e sacẖī bẖagaṯ jis ḏe▫e.
Human beings become angels, when the Lord blesses them with true devotional worship.
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਚੇਇ ॥
हउमै मारि मिलाइअनु गुर कै सबदि सुचेइ ॥
Ha▫umai mār milā▫i▫an gur kai sabaḏ sucẖe▫e.
Conquering egotism, they are blended with the Lord; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they are purified.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਇ ॥੨॥
नानक सहजे मिलि रहे नामु वडिआई देइ ॥२॥
Nānak sėhje mil rahe nām vadi▫ā▫ī ḏe▫e. ||2||
O Nanak, they remain merged with the Lord; they are blessed with the glorious greatness of the Naam. ||2||

ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੀ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਵਧਾਈ ॥
गुर सतिगुर विचि नावै की वडी वडिआई हरि करतै आपि वधाई ॥
Gur saṯgur vicẖ nāvai kī vadī vadi▫ā▫ī har karṯai āp vaḏẖā▫ī.
Within the Guru, the True Guru, is the glorious greatness of the Name. The Creator Lord Himself has magnified it.

ਸੇਵਕ ਸਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਵੇਖਿ ਵੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਓਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਭਾਈ ॥
सेवक सिख सभि वेखि वेखि जीवन्हि ओन्हा अंदरि हिरदै भाई ॥
Sevak sikẖ sabẖ vekẖ vekẖ jīvniĥ onĥā anḏar hirḏai bẖā▫ī.
All His servants and Sikhs live by gazing, gazing upon it. It is pleasing to their hearts deep within.

ਨਿੰਦਕ ਦੁਸਟ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੇਖਿ ਨ ਸਕਨਿ ਓਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਭਲਾ ਨ ਸੁਖਾਈ ॥
निंदक दुसट वडिआई वेखि न सकनि ओन्हा पराइआ भला न सुखाई ॥
Ninḏak ḏusat vadi▫ā▫ī vekẖ na sakan onĥā parā▫i▫ā bẖalā na sukẖā▫ī.
The slanderers and evil-doers cannot see this glorious greatness; they do not appreciate the goodness of others.

ਕਿਆ ਹੋਵੈ ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਝਖ ਮਾਰੀ ਜਾ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਬਣਿ ਆਈ ॥
किआ होवै किस ही की झख मारी जा सचे सिउ बणि आई ॥
Ki▫ā hovai kis hī kī jẖakẖ mārī jā sacẖe si▫o baṇ ā▫ī.
What can be achieved by anyone babbling? The Guru is in love with the True Lord.

ਜਿ ਗਲ ਕਰਤੇ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਾ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਈ ਸਭ ਝਖਿ ਝਖਿ ਮਰੈ ਲੋਕਾਈ ॥੪॥
जि गल करते भावै सा नित नित चड़ै सवाई सभ झखि झखि मरै लोकाई ॥४॥
Jė gal karṯe bẖāvai sā niṯ niṯ cẖaṛai savā▫ī sabẖ jẖakẖ jẖakẖ marai lokā▫ī. ||4||
That which is pleasing to the Creator Lord, increases day by day, while all the people babble uselessly. ||4||

ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਏਹ ਆਸਾ ਦੂਜੇ ਭਾਵ ਕੀ ਜੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
ध्रिगु एह आसा दूजे भाव की जो मोहि माइआ चितु लाए ॥
Ḏẖarig eh āsā ḏūje bẖāv kī jo mohi mā▫i▫ā cẖiṯ lā▫e.
Cursed are the hopes in the love of duality; they tie the consciousness to love and attachment to Maya.

ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਰਿ ਤਿਆਗਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
हरि सुखु पल्हरि तिआगिआ नामु विसारि दुखु पाए ॥
Har sukẖ palĥar ṯi▫āgi▫ā nām visār ḏukẖ pā▫e.
One who forsakes the peace of the Lord in exchange for straw, and forgets the Naam, suffers in pain.
