ਆਈ ਪੂਤਾ ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਸਾਰਾ ॥
आई पूता इहु जगु सारा ॥
Aa▫ee pooṫaa ih jag saaraa.
This whole world is the child of Maya.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਦੇਸੁ ਆਦਿ ਰਖਵਾਰਾ ॥
प्रभ आदेसु आदि रखवारा ॥
Parabʰ aaḋés aaḋ rakʰvaaraa.
I bow in submission to God, my Protector from the very beginning of time.

ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦੀ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਗੁ ॥
आदि जुगादी है भी होगु ॥
Aaḋ jugaaḋee hæ bʰee hog.
He was in the beginning, He has been throughout the ages, He is now, and He shall always be.

ਓਹੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਕਰਣੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੧੧॥
ओहु अपर्मपरु करणै जोगु ॥११॥
Oh aprampar karṇæ jog. ||11||
He is unlimited, and capable of doing everything. ||11||
|
ਦਸਮੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
दसमी नामु दानु इसनानु ॥
Ḋasmee naam ḋaan isnaan.
The Tenth Day: Meditate on the Naam, give to charity, and purify yourself.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਮਜਨੁ ਸਚਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
अनदिनु मजनु सचा गुण गिआनु ॥
An▫ḋin majan sachaa guṇ gi▫aan.
Night and day, bathe in spiritual wisdom and the Glorious Virtues of the True Lord.
|
ਸਚਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
सचि मैलु न लागै भ्रमु भउ भागै ॥
Sach mæl na laagæ bʰaram bʰa▫o bʰaagæ.
Truth cannot be polluted; doubt and fear run away from it.
|
ਬਿਲਮੁ ਨ ਤੂਟਸਿ ਕਾਚੈ ਤਾਗੈ ॥
बिलमु न तूटसि काचै तागै ॥
Bilam na ṫootas kaachæ ṫaagæ.
The flimsy thread breaks in an instant.
|
ਜਿਉ ਤਾਗਾ ਜਗੁ ਏਵੈ ਜਾਣਹੁ ॥
जिउ तागा जगु एवै जाणहु ॥
Ji▫o ṫaagaa jag évæ jaaṇhu.
Know that the world is just like this thread.
|
ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਚੀਤੁ ਸਾਚਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣਹੁ ॥੧੨॥
असथिरु चीतु साचि रंगु माणहु ॥१२॥
Asṫʰir cheeṫ saach rang maaṇhu. ||12||
Your consciousness shall become steady and stable, enjoying the Love of the True Lord. ||12||
|
ਏਕਾਦਸੀ ਇਕੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਾਵੈ ॥
एकादसी इकु रिदै वसावै ॥
Ékaaḋasee ik riḋæ vasaavæ.
The Eleventh Day: Enshrine the One Lord within your heart.
|
ਹਿੰਸਾ ਮਮਤਾ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਵੈ ॥
हिंसा ममता मोहु चुकावै ॥
Hinsaa mamṫaa moh chukʰaavæ.
Eradicate cruelty, egotism and emotional attachment.
|
ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਬ੍ਰਤੁ ਆਤਮ ਚੀਨੈ ॥
फलु पावै ब्रतु आतम चीनै ॥
Fal paavæ baraṫ aaṫam cheenæ.
Earn the fruitful rewards by observing the fast of knowing your own self.
|
ਪਾਖੰਡਿ ਰਾਚਿ ਤਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਬੀਨੈ ॥
पाखंडि राचि ततु नही बीनै ॥
Pakʰand raach ṫaṫ nahee beenæ.
One who is engrossed in hypocrisy, does not see the true essence.
|
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਿਰਾਹਾਰੁ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲੁ ॥
निरमलु निराहारु निहकेवलु ॥
Nirmal niraahaar nihkéval.
The Lord is immaculate, self-sustaining and unattached.
|
ਸੂਚੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਮਲੁ ॥੧੩॥
सूचै साचे ना लागै मलु ॥१३॥
Soochæ saaché naa laagæ mal. ||13||
The Pure, True Lord cannot be polluted. ||13||
|
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਹ ਏਕੋ ਏਕਾ ॥
जह देखउ तह एको एका ॥
Jah ḋékʰ▫a▫u ṫah éko ékaa.
Wherever I look, I see the One Lord there.
|
ਹੋਰਿ ਜੀਅ ਉਪਾਏ ਵੇਕੋ ਵੇਕਾ ॥
होरि जीअ उपाए वेको वेका ॥
Hor jee▫a upaa▫é véko vékaa.
He created other beings of many and various kinds.
|
ਫਲੋਹਾਰ ਕੀਏ ਫਲੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
फलोहार कीए फलु जाइ ॥
Falohaar kee▫é fal jaa▫é.
Eating only fruits, one loses the fruits of life.
|
ਰਸ ਕਸ ਖਾਏ ਸਾਦੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
रस कस खाए सादु गवाइ ॥
Ras kas kʰaa▫é saaḋ gavaa▫é.
Eating only delicacies of various sorts, one loses the true taste.
|
ਕੂੜੈ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਲਪਟੈ ਲਪਟਾਇ ॥
कूड़ै लालचि लपटै लपटाइ ॥
Kooṛæ laalach laptæ laptaa▫é.
In fraud and greed, people are engrossed and entangled.
|
ਛੂਟੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੧੪॥
छूटै गुरमुखि साचु कमाइ ॥१४॥
Chʰootæ gurmukʰ saach kamaa▫é. ||14||
The Gurmukh is emancipated, practicing Truth. ||14||
|
ਦੁਆਦਸਿ ਮੁਦ੍ਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਅਉਧੂਤਾ ॥
दुआदसि मुद्रा मनु अउधूता ॥
Ḋu▫aaḋas muḋraa man a▫uḋʰooṫaa.
The Twelfth Day: One whose mind is not attached to the twelve signs,
|
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਜਾਗਹਿ ਕਬਹਿ ਨ ਸੂਤਾ ॥
अहिनिसि जागहि कबहि न सूता ॥
Ahinis jaagėh kabėh na sooṫaa.
remains awake day and night, and never sleeps.
|
ਜਾਗਤੁ ਜਾਗਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
जागतु जागि रहै लिव लाइ ॥
Jaagaṫ jaag rahæ liv laa▫é.
He remains awake and aware, lovingly centered on the Lord.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਚੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਖਾਇ ॥
गुर परचै तिसु कालु न खाइ ॥
Gur parchæ ṫis kaal na kʰaa▫é.
With faith in the Guru, he is not consumed by death.
|
ਅਤੀਤ ਭਏ ਮਾਰੇ ਬੈਰਾਈ ॥
अतीत भए मारे बैराई ॥
Aṫeeṫ bʰa▫é maaré bæraa▫ee.
Those who become detached, and conquer the five enemies -
|
ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਹ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੧੫॥
प्रणवति नानक तह लिव लाई ॥१५॥
Paraṇvaṫ Naanak ṫah liv laa▫ee. ||15||
prays Nanak, they are lovingly absorbed in the Lord. ||15||
|
ਦੁਆਦਸੀ ਦਇਆ ਦਾਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
दुआदसी दइआ दानु करि जाणै ॥
Ḋu▫aaḋasee ḋa▫i▫aa ḋaan kar jaaṇæ.
The Twelfth Day: Know, and practice, compassion and charity.
|
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਤੋ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਆਣੈ ॥
बाहरि जातो भीतरि आणै ॥
Baahar jaaṫo bʰeeṫar aaṇæ.
Bring your out-going mind back home.
|
ਬਰਤੀ ਬਰਤ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਹਕਾਮ ॥
बरती बरत रहै निहकाम ॥
Barṫee baraṫ rahæ nihkaam.
Observe the fast of remaining free of desire.
|
ਅਜਪਾ ਜਾਪੁ ਜਪੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮ ॥
अजपा जापु जपै मुखि नाम ॥
Ajpaa jaap japæ mukʰ naam.
Chant the un-chanted Chant of the Naam with your mouth.
|
ਤੀਨਿ ਭਵਣ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
तीनि भवण महि एको जाणै ॥
Ṫeen bʰavaṇ mėh éko jaaṇæ.
Know that the One Lord is contained in the three worlds.
|
ਸਭਿ ਸੁਚਿ ਸੰਜਮ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੧੬॥
सभि सुचि संजम साचु पछाणै ॥१६॥
Sabʰ such sanjam saach pachʰaaṇæ. ||16||
Purity and self-discipline are all contained in knowing the Truth. ||16||
|
ਤੇਰਸਿ ਤਰਵਰ ਸਮੁਦ ਕਨਾਰੈ ॥
तेरसि तरवर समुद कनारै ॥
Ṫéras ṫarvar samuḋ kanaaræ.
The Thirteenth Day: He is like a tree on the sea-shore.
|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮੂਲੁ ਸਿਖਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਤਾਰੈ ॥
अमृतु मूलु सिखरि लिव तारै ॥
Amriṫ mool sikʰar liv ṫaaræ.
But his roots can become immortal, if his mind is attuned to the Lord’s Love.
|
ਡਰ ਡਰਿ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਬੂਡੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
डर डरि मरै न बूडै कोइ ॥
Dar dar maræ na boodæ ko▫é.
Then, he will not die of fear or anxiety, and he will never drown.
|
ਨਿਡਰੁ ਬੂਡਿ ਮਰੈ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥
निडरु बूडि मरै पति खोइ ॥
Nidar bood maræ paṫ kʰo▫é.
Without the Fear of God, he drowns and dies, and loses his honor.
|
ਡਰ ਮਹਿ ਘਰੁ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਡਰੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
डर महि घरु घर महि डरु जाणै ॥
Dar mėh gʰar gʰar mėh dar jaaṇæ.
With the Fear of God in his heart, and his heart in the Fear of God, he knows God.
|
ਤਖਤਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੈ ॥੧੭॥
तखति निवासु सचु मनि भाणै ॥१७॥
Ṫakʰaṫ nivaas sach man bʰaaṇæ. ||17||
He sits on the throne, and becomes pleasing to the Mind of the True Lord. ||17||
|
ਚਉਦਸਿ ਚਉਥੇ ਥਾਵਹਿ ਲਹਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
चउदसि चउथे थावहि लहि पावै ॥
Cha▫uḋas cha▫uṫʰé ṫʰaavėh lėh paavæ.
The Fourteenth Day: One who enters into the fourth state,
|
ਰਾਜਸ ਤਾਮਸ ਸਤ ਕਾਲ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
राजस तामस सत काल समावै ॥
Raajas ṫaamas saṫ kaal samaavæ.
overcomes time, and the three qualities of Raajas, Taamas and Satva.
|
ਸਸੀਅਰ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਸੂਰੁ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
ससीअर कै घरि सूरु समावै ॥
Sasee▫ar kæ gʰar soor samaavæ.
Then the sun enters into the house of the moon,
|
ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
जोग जुगति की कीमति पावै ॥
Jog jugaṫ kee keemaṫ paavæ.
and one knows the value of the technology of Yoga.
|
ਚਉਦਸਿ ਭਵਨ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
चउदसि भवन पाताल समाए ॥
Cha▫uḋas bʰavan paaṫaal samaa▫é.
Who is permeating the fourteen worlds, the nether regions of the underworld,
|
ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਰਹਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥੧੮॥
खंड ब्रहमंड रहिआ लिव लाए ॥१८॥
Kʰand barahmand rahi▫aa liv laa▫é. ||18||
the galaxies and solar systems; he remains lovingly focused on that God. ||18||
|
ਅਮਾਵਸਿਆ ਚੰਦੁ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਗੈਣਾਰਿ ॥
अमावसिआ चंदु गुपतु गैणारि ॥
Amaavasi▫aa chanḋ gupaṫ gæṇaar.
Amaavas - The Night of the New Moon: The moon is hidden in the sky.
|
ਬੂਝਹੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
बूझहु गिआनी सबदु बीचारि ॥
Boojʰhu gi▫aanee sabaḋ beechaar.
O wise one, understand and contemplate the Word of the Shabad.
|
ਸਸੀਅਰੁ ਗਗਨਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਈ ॥
ससीअरु गगनि जोति तिहु लोई ॥
Sasee▫ar gagan joṫ ṫihu lo▫ee.
The moon in the sky illuminates the three worlds.
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
करि करि वेखै करता सोई ॥
Kar kar vékʰæ karṫaa so▫ee.
Creating the creation, the Creator beholds it.
|
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
गुर ते दीसै सो तिस ही माहि ॥
Gur ṫé ḋeesæ so ṫis hee maahi.
One who sees, through the Guru, merges into Him.
|
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧੯॥
मनमुखि भूले आवहि जाहि ॥१९॥
Manmukʰ bʰoolé aavahi jaahi. ||19||
The self-willed Manmukhs are deluded, coming and going in reincarnation. ||19||
|
ਘਰੁ ਦਰੁ ਥਾਪਿ ਥਿਰੁ ਥਾਨਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ॥
घरु दरु थापि थिरु थानि सुहावै ॥
Gʰar ḋar ṫʰaap ṫʰir ṫʰaan suhaavæ.
One who establishes his home within his own heart, obtains the most beautiful, permanent place.
|
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
आपु पछाणै जा सतिगुरु पावै ॥
Aap pachʰaaṇæ jaa saṫgur paavæ.
One comes to understand his own self, when he finds the True Guru.
|
ਜਹ ਆਸਾ ਤਹ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਬਿਨਾਸਾ ॥
जह आसा तह बिनसि बिनासा ॥
Jah aasaa ṫah binas binaasaa.
Wherever there is hope, there is destruction and desolation.
|
ਫੂਟੈ ਖਪਰੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਨਸਾ ॥
फूटै खपरु दुबिधा मनसा ॥
Footæ kʰapar ḋubiḋʰaa mansaa.
The bowl of duality and selfishness breaks.
|
ਮਮਤਾ ਜਾਲ ਤੇ ਰਹੈ ਉਦਾਸਾ ॥
ममता जाल ते रहै उदासा ॥
Mamṫaa jaal ṫé rahæ uḋaasaa.
He who remains detached amidst the traps of attachment,
|
ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੨੦॥੧॥
प्रणवति नानक हम ता के दासा ॥२०॥१॥
Paraṇvaṫ Naanak ham ṫaa ké ḋaasaa. ||20||1||
Prays Nanak, I am the slave of that one. ||20||1||
