ਪੂਰਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈ
पूरा पुरखु पाइआ वडभागी सचि नामि लिव लावै ॥
Pūrā purakẖ pā▫i▫ā vadbẖāgī sacẖ nām liv lāvai.
One obtains the Perfect Primal Lord, by great good fortune, lovingly focusing on the True Name.

ਮਤਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਭਈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ
मति परगासु भई मनु मानिआ राम नामि वडिआई ॥
Maṯ pargās bẖa▫ī man māni▫ā rām nām vadi▫ā▫ī.
The intellect is enlightened, and the mind is satisfied, through the glory of the Lord's Name.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥
नानक प्रभु पाइआ सबदि मिलाइआ जोती जोति मिलाई ॥४॥१॥४॥
Nānak parabẖ pā▫i▫ā sabaḏ milā▫i▫ā joṯī joṯ milā▫ī. ||4||1||4||
O Nanak, God is found, merging in the Shabad, and one's light blends into the Light. ||4||1||4||

Soohee, Fourth Mehl, Fifth House:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਗੁਰੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮੈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝਿ ਗਈਆਸੇ
गुरु संत जनो पिआरा मै मिलिआ मेरी त्रिसना बुझि गईआसे ॥
Gur sanṯ jano pi▫ārā mai mili▫ā merī ṯarisnā bujẖ ga▫ī▫āse.
O humble Saints, I have met my Beloved Guru; the fire of my desire is quenched, and my yearning is gone.

ਹਉ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੈ ਮੈ ਮੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੇ
हउ मनु तनु देवा सतिगुरै मै मेले प्रभ गुणतासे ॥
Ha▫o man ṯan ḏevā saṯigurai mai mele parabẖ guṇṯāse.
I dedicate my mind and body to the True Guru; I pray that may He unite me with God, the treasure of virtue.

ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਮੈ ਦਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਬਾਸੇ
धनु धंनु गुरू वड पुरखु है मै दसे हरि साबासे ॥
Ḏẖan ḏẖan gurū vad purakẖ hai mai ḏase har sābāse.
Blessed, blessed is the Guru, the Supreme Being, who tells me of the most blessed Lord.

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਿਗਾਸੇ ॥੧॥
वडभागी हरि पाइआ जन नानक नामि विगासे ॥१॥
vadbẖāgī har pā▫i▫ā jan Nānak nām vigāse. ||1||
By great good fortune, servant Nanak has found the Lord; he blossoms forth in the Naam. ||1||

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮੈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪੰਥੁ ਦਸਾਹਾ
गुरु सजणु पिआरा मै मिलिआ हरि मारगु पंथु दसाहा ॥
Gur sajaṇ pi▫ārā mai mili▫ā har mārag panth ḏasāhā.
I have met my Beloved Friend, the Guru, who has shown me the Path to the Lord.

ਘਰਿ ਆਵਹੁ ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ਮਿਲੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਹਾ
घरि आवहु चिरी विछुंनिआ मिलु सबदि गुरू प्रभ नाहा ॥
Gẖar āvhu cẖirī vicẖẖunni▫ā mil sabaḏ gurū parabẖ nāhā.
Come home - I have been separated from You for so long! Please, let me merge with You, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, O my Lord God.

ਹਉ ਤੁਝੁ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਖਰੀ ਉਡੀਣੀਆ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨੁ ਮਰਾਹਾ
हउ तुझु बाझहु खरी उडीणीआ जिउ जल बिनु मीनु मराहा ॥
Ha▫o ṯujẖ bājẖahu kẖarī udīṇī▫ā ji▫o jal bin mīn marāhā.
Without You, I am so sad; like a fish out of water, I shall die.

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ॥੨॥
वडभागी हरि धिआइआ जन नानक नामि समाहा ॥२॥
vadbẖāgī har ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā jan Nānak nām samāhā. ||2||
The very fortunate ones meditate on the Lord; servant Nanak merges into the Naam. ||2||

ਮਨੁ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਚਲਿ ਚਲਿ ਭਰਮਿਆ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ
मनु दह दिसि चलि चलि भरमिआ मनमुखु भरमि भुलाइआ ॥
Man ḏah ḏis cẖal cẖal bẖarmi▫ā manmukẖ bẖaram bẖulā▫i▫ā.
The mind runs around in the ten directions; the self-willed manmukh wanders around, deluded by doubt.

ਨਿਤ ਆਸਾ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਮਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਲਗਾਇਆ
नित आसा मनि चितवै मन त्रिसना भुख लगाइआ ॥
Niṯ āsā man cẖiṯvai man ṯarisnā bẖukẖ lagā▫i▫ā.
In his mind, he continually conjures up hopes; his mind is gripped by hunger and thirst.

ਅਨਤਾ ਧਨੁ ਧਰਿ ਦਬਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਭਾਲਣ ਗਇਆ
अनता धनु धरि दबिआ फिरि बिखु भालण गइआ ॥
Anṯā ḏẖan ḏẖar ḏabi▫ā fir bikẖ bẖālaṇ ga▫i▫ā.
There is an infinite treasure buried within the mind, but still, he goes out, searching for poison.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਤੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਪਚਿ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਇਆ ॥੩॥
जन नानक नामु सलाहि तू बिनु नावै पचि पचि मुइआ ॥३॥
Jan Nānak nām salāhi ṯū bin nāvai pacẖ pacẖ mu▫i▫ā. ||3||
O servant Nanak, praise the Naam, the Name of the Lord; without the Name, he rots away, and wastes away to death. ||3||

ਗੁਰੁ ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਮੋਹਨੁ ਪਾਇ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ
गुरु सुंदरु मोहनु पाइ करे हरि प्रेम बाणी मनु मारिआ ॥
Gur sunḏar mohan pā▫e kare har parem baṇī man māri▫ā.
Finding the beautiful and fascinating Guru, I have conquered my mind, through the Bani, the Word of my Beloved Lord.

ਮੇਰੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸੁਧਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਗਈ ਮਨ ਆਸਾ ਚਿੰਤ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ
मेरै हिरदै सुधि बुधि विसरि गई मन आसा चिंत विसारिआ ॥
Merai hirḏai suḏẖ buḏẖ visar ga▫ī man āsā cẖinṯ visāri▫ā.
My heart has forgotten its common sense and wisdom; my mind has forgotten its hopes and cares.

ਮੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵੇਦਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀ ਗੁਰ ਦੇਖਤ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਧਾਰਿਆ
मै अंतरि वेदन प्रेम की गुर देखत मनु साधारिआ ॥
Mai anṯar veḏan parem kī gur ḏekẖaṯ man sāḏẖāri▫ā.
Deep within my self, I feel the pains of divine love. Beholding the Guru, my mind is comforted and consoled.

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੪॥੧॥੫॥
वडभागी प्रभ आइ मिलु जनु नानकु खिनु खिनु वारिआ ॥४॥१॥५॥
vadbẖāgī parabẖ ā▫e mil jan Nānak kẖin kẖin vāri▫ā. ||4||1||5||
Awaken my good destiny, O God - please, come and meet me! Each and every instant, servant Nanak is a sacrifice to You. ||4||1||5||

ਸੂਹੀ ਛੰਤ ਮਹਲਾ
सूही छंत महला ४ ॥
Sūhī cẖẖanṯ mėhlā 4.
Soohee, Chhant, Fourth Mehl:

ਮਾਰੇਹਿਸੁ ਵੇ ਜਨ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਣ ਦਿਤੀਆ
मारेहिसु वे जन हउमै बिखिआ जिनि हरि प्रभ मिलण न दितीआ ॥
Mārehis ve jan ha▫umai bikẖi▫ā jin har parabẖ milaṇ na ḏiṯī▫ā.
Eradicate the poison of egotism, O human being; it is holding you back from meeting your Lord God.

ਦੇਹ ਕੰਚਨ ਵੇ ਵੰਨੀਆ ਇਨਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਵਿਗੁਤੀਆ
देह कंचन वे वंनीआ इनि हउमै मारि विगुतीआ ॥
Ḏeh kancẖan ve vannī▫ā in ha▫umai mār viguṯī▫ā.
This golden-colored body has been disfigured and ruined by egotism.

ਮੋਹੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਵੇ ਸਭ ਕਾਲਖਾ ਇਨਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮੂੜਿ ਸਜੁਤੀਆ
मोहु माइआ वे सभ कालखा इनि मनमुखि मूड़ि सजुतीआ ॥
Moh mā▫i▫ā ve sabẖ kālkẖā in manmukẖ mūṛ sajuṯī▫ā.
Attachment to Maya is total darkness; this foolish, self-willed manmukh is attached to it.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਛੁਟੀਆ ॥੧॥
जन नानक गुरमुखि उबरे गुर सबदी हउमै छुटीआ ॥१॥
Jan Nānak gurmukẖ ubre gur sabḏī ha▫umai cẖẖutī▫ā. ||1||
O servant Nanak, the Gurmukh is saved; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he is released from egotism. ||1||

ਵਸਿ ਆਣਿਹੁ ਵੇ ਜਨ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਮਨੁ ਬਾਸੇ ਜਿਉ ਨਿਤ ਭਉਦਿਆ
वसि आणिहु वे जन इसु मन कउ मनु बासे जिउ नित भउदिआ ॥
vas āṇihu ve jan is man ka▫o man bāse ji▫o niṯ bẖa▫uḏi▫ā.
Overcome and subdue this mind; your mind wanders around continually, like a falcon.

ਦੁਖਿ ਰੈਣਿ ਵੇ ਵਿਹਾਣੀਆ ਨਿਤ ਆਸਾ ਆਸ ਕਰੇਦਿਆ
दुखि रैणि वे विहाणीआ नित आसा आस करेदिआ ॥
Ḏukẖ raiṇ ve vihāṇī▫ā niṯ āsā ās kareḏi▫ā.
The mortal's life-night passes painfully, in constant hope and desire.

ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਵੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਚਉਦਿਆ
गुरु पाइआ वे संत जनो मनि आस पूरी हरि चउदिआ ॥
Gur pā▫i▫ā ve sanṯ jano man ās pūrī har cẖa▫uḏi▫ā.
I have found the Guru, O humble Saints; my mind's hopes are fulfilled, chanting the Lord's Name.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਤੀ ਛਡਿ ਆਸਾ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਉਦਿਆ ॥੨॥
जन नानक प्रभ देहु मती छडि आसा नित सुखि सउदिआ ॥२॥
Jan Nānak parabẖ ḏeh maṯī cẖẖad āsā niṯ sukẖ sa▫uḏi▫ā. ||2||
Please bless servant Nanak, O God, with such understanding, that abandoning false hopes, he may always sleep in peace. ||2||

ਸਾ ਧਨ ਆਸਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੇਜੜੀਐ ਆਈ
सा धन आसा चिति करे राम राजिआ हरि प्रभ सेजड़ीऐ आई ॥
Sā ḏẖan āsā cẖiṯ kare rām rāji▫ā har parabẖ sejṛī▫ai ā▫ī.
The bride hopes in her mind, that her Sovereign Lord God will come to her bed.

ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਅਗਮ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੇਹੁ ਮਿਲਾਈ
मेरा ठाकुरु अगम दइआलु है राम राजिआ करि किरपा लेहु मिलाई ॥
Merā ṯẖākur agam ḏa▫i▫āl hai rām rāji▫ā kar kirpā leho milā▫ī.
My Lord and Master is infinitely compassionate; O Sovereign Lord, be merciful, and merge me into Yourself.
