ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਮੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਖਣ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥
सतिगुरु सागरु गुण नाम का मै तिसु देखण का चाउ ॥
Saṯgur sāgar guṇ nām kā mai ṯis ḏekẖaṇ kā cẖā▫o.
The True Guru is the ocean of virtue and the Lord's Name to see him, I have great yearning.

ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਜੀਵਊ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੇਖੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੬॥
हउ तिसु बिनु घड़ी न जीवऊ बिनु देखे मरि जाउ ॥६॥
Ha▫o ṯis bin gẖaṛī na jīv▫ū bin ḏekẖe mar jā▫o. ||6||
Without him, I can live not even for an instant. I die if I see him not.

ਜਿਉ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਵਿਣੁ ਪਾਣੀਐ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਕਿਤੈ ਉਪਾਇ ॥
जिउ मछुली विणु पाणीऐ रहै न कितै उपाइ ॥
Ji▫o macẖẖulī viṇ pāṇī▫ai rahai na kiṯai upā▫e.
As the fish, by no means, can live without water,
|
ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੰਤੁ ਨ ਜੀਵਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
तिउ हरि बिनु संतु न जीवई बिनु हरि नामै मरि जाइ ॥७॥
Ŧi▫o har bin sanṯ na jīv▫ī bin har nāmai mar jā▫e. ||7||
so the saint can live not without his Lord's Name, dies he.

ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਕਿਉ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਮਾਉ ॥
मै सतिगुर सेती पिरहड़ी किउ गुर बिनु जीवा माउ ॥
Mai saṯgur seṯī pirhaṛī ki▫o gur bin jīvā mā▫o.
I am in love with my True Guru. How can I remain alive without the Guru, O my mother?

ਮੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹਾਉ ॥੮॥
मै गुरबाणी आधारु है गुरबाणी लागि रहाउ ॥८॥
Mai gurbāṇī āḏẖār hai gurbāṇī lāg rahā▫o. ||8||
I have the support of the Guru's hymns. Attached to Gurbani do I abide.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਦੇਵੈ ਮਾਇ ॥
हरि हरि नामु रतंनु है गुरु तुठा देवै माइ ॥
Har har nām raṯann hai gur ṯuṯẖā ḏevai mā▫e.
The Lord Master's Name is the jewel. By his pleasure, the Guru has blessed me with it, O my mother.

ਮੈ ਧਰ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੯॥
मै धर सचे नाम की हरि नामि रहा लिव लाइ ॥९॥
Mai ḏẖar sacẖe nām kī har nām rahā liv lā▫e. ||9||
My only prop is the True Name. In the Love of the Lord's Name remain I absorbed.

ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਦੇਇ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇ ॥
गुर गिआनु पदारथु नामु है हरि नामो देइ द्रिड़ाइ ॥
Gur gi▫ān paḏārath nām hai har nāmo ḏe▫e driṛ▫ā▫e.
In the Guru-given gnosis is contained the wealth of Lord's Name and the Lord's Name, the Guru imprints in the man's mind.

ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਸੋ ਲਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਇ ॥੧੦॥
जिसु परापति सो लहै गुर चरणी लागै आइ ॥१०॥
Jis parāpaṯ so lahai gur cẖarṇī lāgai ā▫e. ||10||
He alone obtains the Name who is destined to receive it and who comes and falls at the Guru's feet.

ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਆਖੈ ਆਇ ॥
अकथ कहाणी प्रेम की को प्रीतमु आखै आइ ॥
Akath kahāṇī parem kī ko parīṯam ākẖai ā▫e.
Ineffable is the story of Divine Love Let some friend of mine come and narrate it.

ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਮਨੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਇ ॥੧੧॥
तिसु देवा मनु आपणा निवि निवि लागा पाइ ॥११॥
Ŧis ḏevā man āpṇā niv niv lāgā pā▫e. ||11||
Unto him I surrender my soul and bowing low I repair to his feet.
|
ਸਜਣੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਏਕੁ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥
सजणु मेरा एकु तूं करता पुरखु सुजाणु ॥
Sajaṇ merā ek ṯūʼn karṯā purakẖ sujāṇ.
Thou alone art my Friend, O my Omnipotent and Omniscient Creator.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੀਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਮੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥੧੨॥
सतिगुरि मीति मिलाइआ मै सदा सदा तेरा ताणु ॥१२॥
Saṯgur mīṯ milā▫i▫ā mai saḏā saḏā ṯerā ṯāṇ. ||12||
Thou hast united me with the True hast united me with the True Guru, my intimate. ever, ever Thou art my support.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਾ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
सतिगुरु मेरा सदा सदा ना आवै ना जाइ ॥
Saṯgur merā saḏā saḏā nā āvai na jā▫e.
Eternal and immortal is my True Guru He comes not, nor goes he.

ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧੩॥
ओहु अबिनासी पुरखु है सभ महि रहिआ समाइ ॥१३॥
Oh abẖināsī purakẖ hai sabẖ mėh rahi▫ā samā▫e. ||13||
He Himself is the imperishable Lord, who is contained amongst all.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਸਾਬਤੁ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
राम नाम धनु संचिआ साबतु पूंजी रासि ॥
Rām nām ḏẖan sancẖi▫ā sābaṯ pūnjī rās.
I have amassed the wealth of the Lord's Name and intact is my capital and merchandise.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੧੪॥੧॥੨॥੧੧॥
नानक दरगह मंनिआ गुर पूरे साबासि ॥१४॥१॥२॥११॥
Nānak ḏargėh mani▫ā gur pūre sābās. ||14||1||2||11||
O Nanak, the Perfect Guru has blessed me and I am approved at the Lord's court.

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
There is but One God. By the True Guru's grace. He is obtained.
|
ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
उरझि रहिओ बिखिआ कै संगा ॥
Urajẖ rahi▫o bikẖi▫ā kai sangā.
Man is entangled in the company of sin.
|
ਮਨਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥੧॥
मनहि बिआपत अनिक तरंगा ॥१॥
Manėh bi▫āpaṯ anik ṯarangā. ||1||
The various waves perturb the mind.
|
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ॥
मेरे मन अगम अगोचर ॥
Mere man agam agocẖar.
O my soul, how shalt the Unapproachable, Uncomprehensible
|
ਕਤ ਪਾਈਐ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
कत पाईऐ पूरन परमेसर ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Kaṯ pā▫ī▫ai pūran parmesar. ||1|| rahā▫o.
and Perfect Lord be obtained by thee? Pause.
|
ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਿਆਪੇ ॥
मोह मगन महि रहिआ बिआपे ॥
Moh magan mėh rahi▫ā bi▫āpe.
Man is engrossed in the intoxication of worldly love,
|
ਅਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਕਬਹੂ ਨਹੀ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ॥੨॥
अति त्रिसना कबहू नही ध्रापे ॥२॥
Aṯ ṯarisnā kabhū nahī ḏẖarāpe. ||2||
and his excessive desire is sated not ever.
|
ਬਸਇ ਕਰੋਧੁ ਸਰੀਰਿ ਚੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
बसइ करोधु सरीरि चंडारा ॥
Bas▫i karoḏẖ sarīr cẖandārā.
Wrath, the pariah, abides within the body.
|
ਅਗਿਆਨਿ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਮਹਾ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
अगिआनि न सूझै महा गुबारा ॥३॥
Agi▫ān na sūjẖai mahā gubārā. ||3||
In the pitch darkness of spiritual ignorance the mortal sees nothing.
|
ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਜਰੇ ਕਿਵਾਰਾ ॥
भ्रमत बिआपत जरे किवारा ॥
Bẖarmaṯ bi▫āpaṯ jare kivārā.
The shutters of engrossment in doubt are fixed.
|
ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
जाणु न पाईऐ प्रभ दरबारा ॥४॥
Jāṇ na pā▫ī▫ai parabẖ ḏarbārā. ||4||
So the mortal can go not in the Lord's Court.
|
ਆਸਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਬੰਧਿ ਪਰਾਨਾ ॥
आसा अंदेसा बंधि पराना ॥
Āsā anḏesā banḏẖ parānā.
Hope and fear have bound the mortal,
|
ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਫਿਰਤ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥੫॥
महलु न पावै फिरत बिगाना ॥५॥
Mahal na pāvai firaṯ bigānā. ||5||
wherefore he finds not stability and wanders like a stranger.
|
ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
सगल बिआधि कै वसि करि दीना ॥
Sagal bi▫āḏẖ kai vas kar ḏīnā.
He is under the sway of all the maladies.
|
ਫਿਰਤ ਪਿਆਸ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨਾ ॥੬॥
फिरत पिआस जिउ जल बिनु मीना ॥६॥
Firaṯ pi▫ās ji▫o jal bin mīnā. ||6||
He wanders about thirsty like the fish out of water.
|
ਕਛੂ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਉਕਤਿ ਨ ਮੋਰੀ ॥
कछू सिआनप उकति न मोरी ॥
Kacẖẖū si▫ānap ukaṯ na morī.
I possess not any wisdom or argument.
|
ਏਕ ਆਸ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੋਰੀ ॥੭॥
एक आस ठाकुर प्रभ तोरी ॥७॥
Ėk ās ṯẖākur parabẖ ṯorī. ||7||
O my Lord Master, Thou art the Only hope of mine.

ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਾਸੇ ॥
करउ बेनती संतन पासे ॥
Kara▫o benṯī sanṯan pāse.
A request is made to the saints,
|
ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਰਦਾਸੇ ॥੮॥
मेलि लैहु नानक अरदासे ॥८॥
Mel laihu Nānak arḏāse. ||8||
by Nanak and he prays "O Lord, unite Thou me with Thyself".

ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
भइओ क्रिपालु साधसंगु पाइआ ॥
Bẖa▫i▫o kirpāl sāḏẖsang pā▫i▫ā.
The Lord has become merciful to me and I have obtained the saints' society.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥
नानक त्रिपते पूरा पाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ दूजा ॥१॥
Nānak ṯaripṯai pūrā pā▫i▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o ḏūjā. ||1||
Attaining to the Perfect Lord, Nanak is propitiated. Pause 2nd.
