Rāg sūhī mėhlā 3 gẖar 10
Suhi Measure 3rd Guru.

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
There is but One God. By the True Guru's grace, He is obtained.
|
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਜੋ ਮਰਿ ਵੰਞਸੀ ॥
दुनीआ न सालाहि जो मरि वंञसी ॥
Ḏunī▫ā na sālāhi jo mar vañsī.
Praise thou not the world, which shall pass away.
|
ਲੋਕਾ ਨ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਜੋ ਮਰਿ ਖਾਕੁ ਥੀਈ ॥੧॥
लोका न सालाहि जो मरि खाकु थीई ॥१॥
Lokā na sālāhi jo mar kẖāk thī▫ī. ||1||
Praise thou not the people, who shall die and become dust.
|
ਵਾਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਵਾਹੁ ॥
वाहु मेरे साहिबा वाहु ॥
vāhu mere sāhibā vāhu.
Hail unto Thee, my Lord, hail.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਸਚਾ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुरमुखि सदा सलाहीऐ सचा वेपरवाहु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gurmukẖ saḏā salāhī▫ai sacẖā veparvāhu. ||1|| rahā▫o.
By the Guru's grace, ever praise thou the Lord, who is True and Independent. Pause.
|
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕੇਰੀ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦਝਿ ਮਰੰਨਿ ॥
दुनीआ केरी दोसती मनमुख दझि मरंनि ॥
Ḏunī▫ā kerī ḏosṯī manmukẖ ḏajẖ marann.
In the friendship of the world, the way-ward burn themselves to death.
|
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਵੇਲਾ ਨ ਲਾਹੰਨਿ ॥੨॥
जम पुरि बधे मारीअहि वेला न लाहंनि ॥२॥
Jam pur baḏẖe mārī▫ah velā na lahann. ||2||
They are bound and beaten in the city of death, and obtain not this opportunity again.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਕਾਰਥਾ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਗੰਨਿ ॥
गुरमुखि जनमु सकारथा सचै सबदि लगंनि ॥
Gurmukẖ janam sakārthā sacẖai sabaḏ lagann.
Fruitful is the life of the pious persons. They remain attached to the True Name.

ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੁਖਿ ਰਹੰਨਿ ॥੩॥
आतम रामु प्रगासिआ सहजे सुखि रहंनि ॥३॥
Āṯam rām pargāsi▫ā sėhje sukẖ rahann. ||3||
They are illumined by the Omnipresent Lord and they abide in peace and pleasure.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਰਚੰਨਿ ॥
गुर का सबदु विसारिआ दूजै भाइ रचंनि ॥
Gur kā sabaḏ visāri▫ā ḏūjai bẖā▫e racẖann.
They, who forget the Guru's instruction are engrossed in duality,
|
ਤਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਲਤ ਫਿਰੰਨਿ ॥੪॥
तिसना भुख न उतरै अनदिनु जलत फिरंनि ॥४॥
Ŧisnā bẖukẖ na uṯrai an▫ḏin jalaṯ firann. ||4||
their thirst and hunger depart not and night and day they wander about burning.
|
ਦੁਸਟਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਨਾਲਿ ਸੰਤਾ ਵੈਰੁ ਕਰੰਨਿ ॥
दुसटा नालि दोसती नालि संता वैरु करंनि ॥
Ḏustā nāl ḏosṯī nāl sanṯā vair karann.
Who cherish friendship with the wicked and enmity with the saints;
|
ਆਪਿ ਡੁਬੇ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਿਉ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਡੋਬੰਨਿ ॥੫॥
आपि डुबे कुट्मब सिउ सगले कुल डोबंनि ॥५॥
Āp dube kutamb si▫o sagle kul dobann. ||5||
they are drowned with their families and cause their entire lineage to perish.
|
ਨਿੰਦਾ ਭਲੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਕੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਕਰੰਨਿ ॥
निंदा भली किसै की नाही मनमुख मुगध करंनि ॥
Ninḏā bẖalī kisai kī nāhī manmukẖ mugaḏẖ karann.
It is not good to slander any one. The foolish apostates alone do it.
|
ਮੁਹ ਕਾਲੇ ਤਿਨ ਨਿੰਦਕਾ ਨਰਕੇ ਘੋਰਿ ਪਵੰਨਿ ॥੬॥
मुह काले तिन निंदका नरके घोरि पवंनि ॥६॥
Muh kāle ṯin ninḏkā narke gẖor pavann. ||6||
The faces of those slanderers are blackened and they fall into the horrible hell.
|
ਏ ਮਨ ਜੈਸਾ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੈਸਾ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤੇਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
ए मन जैसा सेवहि तैसा होवहि तेहे करम कमाइ ॥
Ė man jaisā sevėh ṯaisā hovėh ṯehe karam kamā▫e.
O man, as thou servest, so becomest thou and so are the deeds, which thou performest.
|
ਆਪਿ ਬੀਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਖਾਵਣਾ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
आपि बीजि आपे ही खावणा कहणा किछू न जाइ ॥७॥
Āp bīj āpe hī kẖāvṇā kahṇā kicẖẖū na jā▫e. ||7||
What Thou Thyself sowest, that Thou Thyself shalt eat. Nothing else can be said about this.
|
ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਕਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਪਰਥਾਇ ॥
महा पुरखा का बोलणा होवै कितै परथाइ ॥
Mahā purkẖā kā bolṇā hovai kiṯai parthā▫e.
The pious persons speak for some spiritual motive.
|
ਓਇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਭਰੇ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹਹਿ ਓਨਾ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥੮॥
ओइ अम्रित भरे भरपूर हहि ओना तिलु न तमाइ ॥८॥
O▫e amriṯ bẖare bẖarpūr hėh onā ṯil na ṯamā▫e. ||8||
They are filled to the brim with ambrosia and have not even a particle of avarice.
|
ਗੁਣਕਾਰੀ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਘਰੈ ਅਵਰਾ ਉਪਦੇਸੇਨਿ ॥
गुणकारी गुण संघरै अवरा उपदेसेनि ॥
Guṇkārī guṇ sangẖrai avrā upḏesen.
The men of merits amass merits and instruct others.
|
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿ ਓਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਏਨਿ ॥੯॥
से वडभागी जि ओना मिलि रहे अनदिनु नामु लएनि ॥९॥
Se vadbẖāgī jė onā mil rahe an▫ḏin nām la▫en. ||9||
Very fortunate are they who keep their company. Night and day, utter they the Lord's Name.
|
ਦੇਸੀ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਮੇਦਨੀ ॥
देसी रिजकु स्मबाहि जिनि उपाई मेदनी ॥
Ḏesī rijak sambāhi jin upā▫ī meḏnī.
He, who has created the world, reaches sustenance to it.
|
ਏਕੋ ਹੈ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਧਣੀ ॥੧੦॥
एको है दातारु सचा आपि धणी ॥१०॥
Ėko hai ḏāṯār sacẖā āp ḏẖaṇī. ||10||
He alone is the Giver and He Himself the True Master.
|
ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥
सो सचु तेरै नालि है गुरमुखि नदरि निहालि ॥
So sacẖ ṯerai nāl hai gurmukẖ naḏar nihāl.
He, The True Lord is with thee. By the Guru's grace see Thou Him with thine eyes.
|
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੧੧॥
आपे बखसे मेलि लए सो प्रभु सदा समालि ॥११॥
Āpe bakẖse mel la▫e so parabẖ saḏā samāl. ||11||
Ever meditate thou on that Lord and He shall pardon thee and blend thee with Himself.
|
ਮਨੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
मनु मैला सचु निरमला किउ करि मिलिआ जाइ ॥
Man mailā sacẖ nirmalā ki▫o kar mili▫ā jā▫e.
Impure is this soul and pure is He, the True Lord. How can it blend with Him.
|
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਤਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੧੨॥
प्रभु मेले ता मिलि रहै हउमै सबदि जलाइ ॥१२॥
Parabẖ mele ṯā mil rahai ha▫umai sabaḏ jalā▫e. ||12||
When through the Name, ego is burnt off the Lord unites it with Himself and then it remains united.
|
ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਸਚਾ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
सो सहु सचा वीसरै ध्रिगु जीवणु संसारि ॥
So saho sacẖā vīsrai ḏẖarig jīvaṇ sansār.
Accursed is the mortal's life, in this world, if he forgets the True Spouse.
|
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਨਾ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧੩॥
नदरि करे ना वीसरै गुरमती वीचारि ॥१३॥
Naḏar kare nā vīsrai gurmaṯī vīcẖār. ||13||
If man meditates on the Guru's instruction, the Lord takes pity on him and he forgets not the Lord.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਤਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਾ ਸਾਚੁ ਰਖਾ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
सतिगुरु मेले ता मिलि रहा साचु रखा उर धारि ॥
Saṯgur mele ṯā mil rahā sācẖ rakẖā ur ḏẖār.
If the True Guru unites, then remain I united with the Lord and keep clasped the True one to my heart.
|
ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਵੀਛੁੜੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੧੪॥
मिलिआ होइ न वीछुड़ै गुर कै हेति पिआरि ॥१४॥
Mili▫ā ho▫e na vīcẖẖuṛai gur kai heṯ pi▫ār. ||14||
United thus, through the love and affection, separates not again.
|
ਪਿਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
पिरु सालाही आपणा गुर कै सबदि वीचारि ॥
Pir sālāhī āpṇā gur kai sabaḏ vīcẖār.
I praise my Beloved by reflecting over the Guru's word.
|
ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥੧੫॥
मिलि प्रीतम सुखु पाइआ सोभावंती नारि ॥१५॥
Mil parīṯam sukẖ pā▫i▫ā sobẖāvanṯī nār. ||15||
Meeting with my love, I have attained peace and have become an illustrious bride.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਭਿਜਈ ਅਤਿ ਮੈਲੇ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਠੋਰ ॥
मनमुख मनु न भिजई अति मैले चिति कठोर ॥
Manmukẖ man na bẖij▫ī aṯ maile cẖiṯ kaṯẖor.
The soul of the self-willed person is softened not. Very filthy and stone-hearted is his mind.
|
ਸਪੈ ਦੁਧੁ ਪੀਆਈਐ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਿਸੁ ਨਿਕੋਰ ॥੧੬॥
सपै दुधु पीआईऐ अंदरि विसु निकोर ॥१६॥
Sapai ḏuḏẖ pī▫ā▫ī▫ai anḏar vis nikor. ||16||
If the serpent be fed on milk, it shall have but pure poison within.
|
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
आपि करे किसु आखीऐ आपे बखसणहारु ॥
Āp kare kis ākẖī▫ai āpe bakẖsaṇhār.
The Lord Himself does everything and Himself is the Pardoner. Whom else should I go to ask?
|
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਬਣਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥੧੭॥
गुर सबदी मैलु उतरै ता सचु बणिआ सीगारु ॥१७॥
Gur sabḏī mail uṯrai ṯā sacẖ baṇi▫ā sīgār. ||17||
If by Guru's instruction, the mortal's filth is washed off, then comes he to possess the True ornamentation.
