ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੪॥
करि किरपा मोहि साधसंगु दीजै ॥४॥
Kar kirpā mohi sāḏẖsang ḏījai. ||4||
Have Mercy upon me, and bless me with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||4||
|
ਤਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਉ ਹੋਈਐ ਰੇਨਾ ॥
तउ किछु पाईऐ जउ होईऐ रेना ॥
Ŧa▫o kicẖẖ pā▫ī▫ai ja▫o ho▫ī▫ai renā.
He alone obtains something, who becomes the dust under the feet of all.

ਜਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥੨॥੮॥
जिसहि बुझाए तिसु नामु लैना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥२॥८॥
Jisahi bujẖā▫e ṯis nām lainā. ||1|| rahā▫o. ||2||8||
And he alone repeats the Naam, whom God causes to understand. ||1||Pause||2||8||

Sūhī mėhlā 5.
Soohee, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
घर महि ठाकुरु नदरि न आवै ॥
Gẖar mėh ṯẖākur naḏar na āvai.
Within the home of his own self, he does not even come to see his Lord and Master.
|
ਗਲ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਹਣੁ ਲੈ ਲਟਕਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
गल महि पाहणु लै लटकावै ॥१॥
Gal mėh pāhaṇ lai latkāvai. ||1||
And yet, around his neck, he hangs a stone god. ||1||
|
ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਫਿਰਤਾ ॥
भरमे भूला साकतु फिरता ॥
Bẖarme bẖūlā sākaṯ firṯā.
The faithless cynic wanders around, deluded by doubt.
|
ਨੀਰੁ ਬਿਰੋਲੈ ਖਪਿ ਖਪਿ ਮਰਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
नीरु बिरोलै खपि खपि मरता ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Nīr birolai kẖap kẖap marṯā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
He churns water, and after wasting his life away, he dies. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਪਾਹਣ ਕਉ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਕਹਤਾ ॥
जिसु पाहण कउ ठाकुरु कहता ॥
Jis pāhaṇ ka▫o ṯẖākur kahṯā.
That stone, which he calls his god,
|
ਓਹੁ ਪਾਹਣੁ ਲੈ ਉਸ ਕਉ ਡੁਬਤਾ ॥੨॥
ओहु पाहणु लै उस कउ डुबता ॥२॥
Oh pāhaṇ lai us ka▫o dubṯā. ||2||
that stone pulls him down and drowns him. ||2||
|
ਗੁਨਹਗਾਰ ਲੂਣ ਹਰਾਮੀ ॥
गुनहगार लूण हरामी ॥
Gunahgār lūṇ harāmī.
O sinner, you are untrue to your own self;
|
ਪਾਹਣ ਨਾਵ ਨ ਪਾਰਗਿਰਾਮੀ ॥੩॥
पाहण नाव न पारगिरामी ॥३॥
Pāhaṇ nāv na pārgiramī. ||3||
a boat of stone will not carry you across. ||3||
|
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
गुर मिलि नानक ठाकुरु जाता ॥
Gur mil Nānak ṯẖākur jāṯā.
Meeting the Guru, O Nanak, I know my Lord and Master.

ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੯॥
जलि थलि महीअलि पूरन बिधाता ॥४॥३॥९॥
Jal thal mahī▫al pūran biḏẖāṯā. ||4||3||9||
The Perfect Architect of Destiny is pervading and permeating the water, the land and the sky. ||4||3||9||

How have you enjoyed your Dear Beloved?

ਸਖੀ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ਮੁਝਹਿ ਮਤੀ ਰੀ ॥੧॥
सखी बतावहु मुझहि मती री ॥१॥
Sakẖī baṯāvhu mujẖėh maṯī rī. ||1||
O sister, please teach me, please show me. ||1||
|
ਸੂਹਬ ਸੂਹਬ ਸੂਹਵੀ ॥
सूहब सूहब सूहवी ॥
Sūhab sūhab sūhvī.
Crimson, crimson, crimson - this is the color of the soul-bride,
|
ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अपने प्रीतम कै रंगि रती ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Apne parīṯam kai rang raṯī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
who is imbued with the Love of her Beloved. ||1||Pause||
|
ਪਾਵ ਮਲੋਵਉ ਸੰਗਿ ਨੈਨ ਭਤੀਰੀ ॥
पाव मलोवउ संगि नैन भतीरी ॥
Pāv malova▫o sang nain bẖaṯīrī.
I wash Your Feet with my eye-lashes.

ਜਹਾ ਪਠਾਵਹੁ ਜਾਂਉ ਤਤੀ ਰੀ ॥੨॥
जहा पठावहु जांउ तती री ॥२॥
Jahā paṯẖāvhu jāʼn▫o ṯaṯī rī. ||2||
Wherever You send me, there I will go. ||2||
|
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਦੇਉ ਜਤੀ ਰੀ ॥
जप तप संजम देउ जती री ॥
Jap ṯap sanjam ḏe▫o jaṯī rī.
I would trade meditation, austerity, self-discipline and celibacy,
|
ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤੀ ਰੀ ॥੩॥
इक निमख मिलावहु मोहि प्रानपती री ॥३॥
Ik nimakẖ milāvhu mohi parānpaṯī rī. ||3||
if I could only meet the Lord of my life, for even an instant. ||3||
|
ਮਾਣੁ ਤਾਣੁ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਹਤੀ ਰੀ ॥
माणु ताणु अह्मबुधि हती री ॥
Māṇ ṯāṇ ahaʼn▫buḏẖ haṯī rī.
She who eradicates her self-conceit, power and arrogant intellect,
|
ਸਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਹਾਗਵਤੀ ਰੀ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੦॥
सा नानक सोहागवती री ॥४॥४॥१०॥
Sā Nānak sohāgvaṯī rī. ||4||4||10||
O Nanak, is the true soul-bride. ||4||4||10||

ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥
तूं जीवनु तूं प्रान अधारा ॥
Ŧūʼn jīvan ṯūʼn parān aḏẖārā.
You are my Life, the very Support of my breath of life.

ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
तुझ ही पेखि पेखि मनु साधारा ॥१॥
Ŧujẖ hī pekẖ pekẖ man sāḏẖārā. ||1||
Gazing upon You, beholding You, my mind is soothed and comforted. ||1||
|
ਤੂੰ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
तूं साजनु तूं प्रीतमु मेरा ॥
Ŧūʼn sājan ṯūʼn parīṯam merā.
You are my Friend, You are my Beloved.

ਚਿਤਹਿ ਨ ਬਿਸਰਹਿ ਕਾਹੂ ਬੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
चितहि न बिसरहि काहू बेरा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Cẖiṯėh na bisrahi kāhū berā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I shall never forget You. ||1||Pause||
|
ਬੈ ਖਰੀਦੁ ਹਉ ਦਾਸਰੋ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
बै खरीदु हउ दासरो तेरा ॥
Bai kẖarīḏ ha▫o ḏāsro ṯerā.
I am Your indentured servant; I am Your slave.

ਤੂੰ ਭਾਰੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੇਰਾ ॥੨॥
तूं भारो ठाकुरु गुणी गहेरा ॥२॥
Ŧūʼn bẖāro ṯẖākur guṇī gaherā. ||2||
You are my Great Lord and Master, the treasure of excellence. ||2||
|
ਕੋਟਿ ਦਾਸ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥
कोटि दास जा कै दरबारे ॥
Kot ḏās jā kai ḏarbāre.
There are millions of servants in Your Court - Your Royal Darbaar.
|
ਨਿਮਖ ਨਿਮਖ ਵਸੈ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਨਾਲੇ ॥੩॥
निमख निमख वसै तिन्ह नाले ॥३॥
Nimakẖ nimakẖ vasai ṯinĥ nāle. ||3||
Each and every instant, You dwell with them. ||3||
|
ਹਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
हउ किछु नाही सभु किछु तेरा ॥
Ha▫o kicẖẖ nāhī sabẖ kicẖẖ ṯerā.
I am nothing; everything is Yours.

ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੧॥
ओति पोति नानक संगि बसेरा ॥४॥५॥११॥
Oṯ poṯ Nānak sang baserā. ||4||5||11||
Through and through, You abide with Nanak. ||4||5||11||

ਸੂਖ ਮਹਲ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਊਚ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥

Sūkẖ mahal jā ke ūcẖ ḏu▫āre.
His Mansions are so comfortable, and His gates are so lofty.
|
ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਵਾਸਹਿ ਭਗਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੧॥
ता महि वासहि भगत पिआरे ॥१॥
Ŧā mėh vāsėh bẖagaṯ pi▫āre. ||1||
Within them, His beloved devotees dwell. ||1||
|
ਸਹਜ ਕਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਅਤਿ ਮੀਠੀ ॥
सहज कथा प्रभ की अति मीठी ॥
Sahj kathā parabẖ kī aṯ mīṯẖī.
The Natural Speech of God is so very sweet.

ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕਾਹੂ ਨੇਤ੍ਰਹੁ ਡੀਠੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
विरलै काहू नेत्रहु डीठी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
virlai kāhū neṯarahu dīṯẖī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
How rare is that person, who sees it with his eyes. ||1||Pause||
|
ਤਹ ਗੀਤ ਨਾਦ ਅਖਾਰੇ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
तह गीत नाद अखारे संगा ॥
Ŧah gīṯ nāḏ akẖāre sangā.
There, in the arena of the congregation, the divine music of the Naad, the sound current, is sung.

ਊਹਾ ਸੰਤ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਾ ॥੨॥
ऊहा संत करहि हरि रंगा ॥२॥
Ūhā sanṯ karahi har rangā. ||2||
There, the Saints celebrate with their Lord. ||2||
|
ਤਹ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸੋਗੁ ਨ ਹਰਖਾ ॥
तह मरणु न जीवणु सोगु न हरखा ॥
Ŧah maraṇ na jīvaṇ sog na harkẖā.
Neither birth nor death is there, neither pain nor pleasure.
|
ਸਾਚ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵਰਖਾ ॥੩॥
साच नाम की अम्रित वरखा ॥३॥
Sācẖ nām kī amriṯ varkẖā. ||3||
The Ambrosial Nectar of the True Name rains down there. ||3||
|
ਗੁਹਜ ਕਥਾ ਇਹ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
गुहज कथा इह गुर ते जाणी ॥
Guhaj kathā ih gur ṯe jāṇī.
From the Guru, I have come to know the mystery of this speech.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੨॥
नानकु बोलै हरि हरि बाणी ॥४॥६॥१२॥
Nānak bolai har har baṇī. ||4||6||12||
Nanak speaks the Bani of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||6||12||

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਿ ਪਾਪ ਕੋਟਿ ਉਤਾਰੇ ॥
जा कै दरसि पाप कोटि उतारे ॥
Jā kai ḏaras pāp kot uṯāre.
By the Blessed Vision of their Darshan, millions of sins are erased.

ਭੇਟਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਇਹੁ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
भेटत संगि इहु भवजलु तारे ॥१॥
Bẖetaṯ sang ih bẖavjal ṯāre. ||1||
Meeting with them, this terrifying world-ocean is crossed over||1||
|
ਓਇ ਸਾਜਨ ਓਇ ਮੀਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
ओइ साजन ओइ मीत पिआरे ॥
O▫e sājan o▫e mīṯ pi▫āre.
They are my companions, and they are my dear friends,
|
ਜੋ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जो हम कउ हरि नामु चितारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jo ham ka▫o har nām cẖiṯāre. ||1|| rahā▫o.
who inspire me to remember the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||

ਜਾ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰੇ ॥
जा का सबदु सुनत सुख सारे ॥
Jā kā sabaḏ sunaṯ sukẖ sāre.
Hearing the Word of His Shabad, I am totally at peace.

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਬਿਦਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
जा की टहल जमदूत बिदारे ॥२॥
Jā kī tahal jamḏūṯ biḏāre. ||2||
When I serve Him, the Messenger of Death is chased away. ||2||
|
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਧੀਰਕ ਇਸੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਸਧਾਰੇ ॥
जा की धीरक इसु मनहि सधारे ॥
Jā kī ḏẖīrak is manėh saḏẖāre.
His comfort and consolation soothes and supports my mind.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਣਿ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
जा कै सिमरणि मुख उजलारे ॥३॥
Jā kai simraṇ mukẖ ujlāre. ||3||
Remembering Him in meditation, my face is radiant and bright. ||3||
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
प्रभ के सेवक प्रभि आपि सवारे ॥
Parabẖ ke sevak parabẖ āp savāre.
God embellishes and supports His servants.

ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੩॥
सरणि नानक तिन्ह सद बलिहारे ॥४॥७॥१३॥
Saraṇ Nānak ṯinĥ saḏ balihāre. ||4||7||13||
Nanak seeks the Protection of their Sanctuary; he is forever a sacrifice to them. ||4||7||13||
