ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਫੇਰੁ ਨ ਪਵੈ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
सतिगुरि मिलिऐ फेरु न पवै जनम मरण दुखु जाइ ॥
Saṯgur mili▫ai fer na pavai janam maraṇ ḏukẖ jā▫e.
Meeting with the True Guru, you shall not have to go through the cycle of reincarnation again; the pains of birth and death will be taken away.

ਪੂਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
पूरै सबदि सभ सोझी होई हरि नामै रहै समाइ ॥१॥
Pūrai sabaḏ sabẖ sojẖī ho▫ī har nāmai rahai samā▫e. ||1||
Through the Perfect Word of the Shabad, all understanding is obtained; remain absorbed in the Name of the Lord. ||1||
|
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
मन मेरे सतिगुर सिउ चितु लाइ ॥
Man mere saṯgur si▫o cẖiṯ lā▫e.
O my mind, focus your consciousness on the True Guru.

ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦ ਨਵਤਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
निरमलु नामु सद नवतनो आपि वसै मनि आइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Nirmal nām saḏ navṯano āp vasai man ā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The Immaculate Naam itself, ever-fresh, comes to abide within the mind. ||1||Pause||
|
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਰਹਣਾ ॥
हरि जीउ राखहु अपुनी सरणाई जिउ राखहि तिउ रहणा ॥
Har jī▫o rākẖo apunī sarṇā▫ī ji▫o rākẖahi ṯi▫o rahṇā.
O Dear Lord, please protect and preserve me in Your Sanctuary. As You keep me, so do I remain.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰਣਾ ॥੨॥
गुर कै सबदि जीवतु मरै गुरमुखि भवजलु तरणा ॥२॥
Gur kai sabaḏ jīvaṯ marai gurmukẖ bẖavjal ṯarṇā. ||2||
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Gurmukh remains dead while yet alive, and swims across the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
|
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥
वडै भागि नाउ पाईऐ गुरमति सबदि सुहाई ॥
vadai bẖāg nā▫o pā▫ī▫ai gurmaṯ sabaḏ suhā▫ī.
By great good fortune, the Name is obtained. Following the Guru's Teachings, through the Shabad, you shall be exalted.

ਆਪੇ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੩॥
आपे मनि वसिआ प्रभु करता सहजे रहिआ समाई ॥३॥
Āpe man vasi▫ā parabẖ karṯā sėhje rahi▫ā samā▫ī. ||3||
God, the Creator Himself, dwells within the mind; remain absorbed in the state of intuitive balance. ||3||
|
ਇਕਨਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਬੰਧਨਿ ਬੰਧਿ ਭਵਾਇਆ ॥
इकना मनमुखि सबदु न भावै बंधनि बंधि भवाइआ ॥
Iknā manmukẖ sabaḏ na bẖāvai banḏẖan banḏẖ bẖavā▫i▫ā.
Some are self-willed manmukhs; they do not love the Word of the Shabad. Bound in chains, they wander lost in reincarnation.

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
लख चउरासीह फिरि फिरि आवै बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ ॥४॥
Lakẖ cẖa▫orāsīh fir fir āvai birthā janam gavā▫i▫ā. ||4||
Through 8.4 million lifetimes, they wander over and over again; they waste away their lives in vain. ||4||
|
ਭਗਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
भगता मनि आनंदु है सचै सबदि रंगि राते ॥
Bẖagṯā man ānanḏ hai sacẖai sabaḏ rang rāṯe.
In the minds of the devotees there is bliss; they are attuned to the Love of the True Word of the Shabad.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਦ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਹਜੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਤੇ ॥੫॥
अनदिनु गुण गावहि सद निरमल सहजे नामि समाते ॥५॥
An▫ḏin guṇ gāvahi saḏ nirmal sėhje nām samāṯe. ||5||
Night and day, they constantly sing the Glories of the Immaculate Lord; with intuitive ease, they are absorbed into the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||5||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਸਭ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੀ ॥
गुरमुखि अम्रित बाणी बोलहि सभ आतम रामु पछाणी ॥
Gurmukẖ amriṯ baṇī bolėh sabẖ āṯam rām pacẖẖāṇī.
The Gurmukhs speak the Ambrosial Bani; they recognize the Lord, the Supreme Soul in all.

ਏਕੋ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਏਕੁ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥੬॥
एको सेवनि एकु अराधहि गुरमुखि अकथ कहाणी ॥६॥
Ėko sevan ek arāḏẖėh gurmukẖ akath kahāṇī. ||6||
They serve the One; they worship and adore the One. The Gurmukhs speak the Unspoken Speech. ||6||
|
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
सचा साहिबु सेवीऐ गुरमुखि वसै मनि आइ ॥
Sacẖā sāhib sevī▫ai gurmukẖ vasai man ā▫e.
The Gurmukhs serve their True Lord and Master, who comes to dwell in the mind.

ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਚ ਸਿਉ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੭॥
सदा रंगि राते सच सिउ अपुनी किरपा करे मिलाइ ॥७॥
Saḏā rang rāṯe sacẖ si▫o apunī kirpā kare milā▫e. ||7||
They are forever attuned to the Love of the True One, who bestows His Mercy and unites them with Himself. ||7||
|
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਇਕਨਾ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਦੇਇ ਜਗਾਇ ॥
आपे करे कराए आपे इकना सुतिआ देइ जगाइ ॥
Āpe kare karā▫e āpe iknā suṯi▫ā ḏe▫e jagā▫e.
He Himself does, and He Himself causes others to do; He wakes some from their sleep.

ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੮॥੭॥੨੪॥
आपे मेलि मिलाइदा नानक सबदि समाइ ॥८॥७॥२४॥
Āpe mel milā▫iḏā Nānak sabaḏ samā▫e. ||8||7||24||
He Himself unites us in Union; Nanak is absorbed in the Shabad. ||8||7||24||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਭਏ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਸਰੀਰ ॥
सतिगुरि सेविऐ मनु निरमला भए पवितु सरीर ॥
Saṯgur sevi▫ai man nirmalā bẖa▫e paviṯ sarīr.
Serving the True Guru, the mind becomes immaculate, and the body becomes pure.
|
ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ॥
मनि आनंदु सदा सुखु पाइआ भेटिआ गहिर ग्मभीरु ॥
Man ānanḏ saḏā sukẖ pā▫i▫ā bẖeti▫ā gahir gambẖīr.
The mind obtains bliss and eternal peace, meeting with the Deep and Profound Lord.

ਸਚੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬੈਸਣਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰ ॥੧॥
सची संगति बैसणा सचि नामि मनु धीर ॥१॥
Sacẖī sangaṯ baisṇā sacẖ nām man ḏẖīr. ||1||
Sitting in the Sangat, the True Congregation, the mind is comforted and consoled by the True Name. ||1||
|
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਨਿਸੰਗੁ ॥
मन रे सतिगुरु सेवि निसंगु ॥
Man re saṯgur sev nisang.
O mind, serve the True Guru without hesitation.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਮੈਲੁ ਪਤੰਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सतिगुरु सेविऐ हरि मनि वसै लगै न मैलु पतंगु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Saṯgur sevi▫ai har man vasai lagai na mail paṯang. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Serving the True Guru, the Lord abides within the mind, and no trace of filth shall attach itself to you. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਤਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
सचै सबदि पति ऊपजै सचे सचा नाउ ॥
Sacẖai sabaḏ paṯ ūpjai sacẖe sacẖā nā▫o.
From the True Word of the Shabad comes honor. True is the Name of the True One.

ਜਿਨੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
जिनी हउमै मारि पछाणिआ हउ तिन बलिहारै जाउ ॥
Jinī ha▫umai mār pacẖẖāṇi▫ā ha▫o ṯin balihārai jā▫o.
I am a sacrifice to those who conquer their ego and recognize the Lord.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸਚੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਥਾਉ ॥੨॥
मनमुख सचु न जाणनी तिन ठउर न कतहू थाउ ॥२॥
Manmukẖ sacẖ na jāṇnī ṯin ṯẖa▫ur na kaṯhū thā▫o. ||2||
The self-willed manmukhs do not know the True One; they find no shelter, and no place of rest anywhere. ||2||
|
ਸਚੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਪੈਨਣਾ ਸਚੇ ਹੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਾਸੁ ॥
सचु खाणा सचु पैनणा सचे ही विचि वासु ॥
Sacẖ kẖāṇā sacẖ painṇā sacẖe hī vicẖ vās.
Those who take the Truth as their food and the Truth as their clothing, have their home in the True One.
|
ਸਦਾ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
सदा सचा सालाहणा सचै सबदि निवासु ॥
Saḏā sacẖā salāhṇā sacẖai sabaḏ nivās.
They constantly praise the True One, and in the True Word of the Shabad they have their dwelling.
|
ਸਭੁ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸੁ ॥੩॥
सभु आतम रामु पछाणिआ गुरमती निज घरि वासु ॥३॥
Sabẖ āṯam rām pacẖẖāṇi▫ā gurmaṯī nij gẖar vās. ||3||
They recognize the Lord, the Supreme Soul in all, and through the Guru's Teachings they dwell in the home of their own inner self. ||3||
|
ਸਚੁ ਵੇਖਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਚਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
सचु वेखणु सचु बोलणा तनु मनु सचा होइ ॥
Sacẖ vekẖaṇ sacẖ bolṇā ṯan man sacẖā ho▫e.
They see the Truth, and they speak the Truth; their bodies and minds are True.
|
ਸਚੀ ਸਾਖੀ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੇ ਸਚੀ ਸੋਇ ॥
सची साखी उपदेसु सचु सचे सची सोइ ॥
Sacẖī sākẖī upḏes sacẖ sacẖe sacẖī so▫e.
True are their teachings, and True are their instructions; True are the reputations of the true ones.

ਜਿੰਨੀ ਸਚੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਦੁਖੀਏ ਚਲੇ ਰੋਇ ॥੪॥
जिंनी सचु विसारिआ से दुखीए चले रोइ ॥४॥
Jinnī sacẖ visāri▫ā se ḏukẖī▫e cẖale ro▫e. ||4||
Those who have forgotten the True One are miserable-they depart weeping and wailing. ||4||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਸੇ ਕਿਤੁ ਆਏ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
सतिगुरु जिनी न सेविओ से कितु आए संसारि ॥
Saṯgur jinī na sevi▫o se kiṯ ā▫e sansār.
Those who have not served the True Guru-why did they even bother to come into the world?

ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਕੂਕ ਨ ਸੁਣੈ ਪੂਕਾਰ ॥
जम दरि बधे मारीअहि कूक न सुणै पूकार ॥
Jam ḏar baḏẖe mārī▫ah kūk na suṇai pūkār.
They are bound and gagged and beaten at Death's door, but no one hears their shrieks and cries.

ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥੫॥
बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ मरि जमहि वारो वार ॥५॥
Birthā janam gavā▫i▫ā mar jamėh vāro vār. ||5||
They waste their lives uselessly; they die and are reincarnated over and over again. ||5||
