ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
सतिगुर पूछउ जाइ नामु धिआइसा जीउ ॥
Saṫgur poochʰa▫o jaa▫é naam ḋʰi▫aa▫isaa jee▫o.
I shall go and consult the true Guru and shall deliberate over the Lord’s Name.

ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਸਾਚੁ ਚਵਾਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਛਾਣਾ ॥
सचु नामु धिआई साचु चवाई गुरमुखि साचु पछाणा ॥
Sach naam ḋʰi▫aa▫ee saach chavaa▫ee gurmukʰ saach pachʰaaṇaa.
I remember the True Name, utter the True Name and, through the Guru, know the True Name.

ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣਾ ॥
दीना नाथु दइआलु निरंजनु अनदिनु नामु वखाणा ॥
Ḋeenaa naaṫʰ ḋa▫i▫aal niranjan an▫ḋin naam vakʰaaṇaa.
Night and day, I utter the Name of the Beneficent, Immaculate Lord, the Master of the meek.

ਕਰਣੀ ਕਾਰ ਧੁਰਹੁ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ ਆਪਿ ਮੁਆ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
करणी कार धुरहु फुरमाई आपि मुआ मनु मारी ॥
Karṇee kaar ḋʰarahu furmaa▫ee aap mu▫aa man maaree.
This task, the Primal Being has enjoined man to do, In this way the ego is stilled and the mind is subdued.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥੫॥੨॥
नानक नामु महा रसु मीठा त्रिसना नामि निवारी ॥५॥२॥
Naanak naam mahaa ras meetʰaa ṫarisnaa naam nivaaree. ||5||2||
Nanak, supremely sweet is the Name-Nectar and it is through the Name, that the desire is stilled.

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਛੰਤ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
धनासरी छंत महला १ ॥
Ḋʰanaasree chʰanṫ mėhlaa 1.

ਪਿਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੂਠੜੀਏ ਖਬਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
पिर संगि मूठड़ीए खबरि न पाईआ जीउ ॥
Pir sang mootʰ▫ṛee▫é kʰabar na paa▫ee▫aa jee▫o.
O beguiled bride, thy Beloved is with thee, but thou hast no knowledge of it.

ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਅੜਾ ਲੇਖੁ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
मसतकि लिखिअड़ा लेखु पुरबि कमाइआ जीउ ॥
Masṫak likʰi▫aṛaa lékʰ purab kamaa▫i▫aa jee▫o.
According to thine past deeds, the destiny is writ on thy forehead.

ਲੇਖੁ ਨ ਮਿਟਈ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਸੀ ॥
लेखु न मिटई पुरबि कमाइआ किआ जाणा किआ होसी ॥
Lékʰ na mit▫ee purab kamaa▫i▫aa ki▫aa jaaṇaa ki▫aa hosee.
The writ of the past deeds cannot be erased. What do I know as to what shall befall me?

ਗੁਣੀ ਅਚਾਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਬਹਿ ਬਹਿ ਰੋਸੀ ॥
गुणी अचारि नही रंगि राती अवगुण बहि बहि रोसी ॥
Guṇee achaar nahee rang raaṫee avguṇ bahi bahi rosee.
Thou hast not adopted the virtuous way of life, nor art thou imbued with thy Lord’s love, thou shalt ever sit and bewail over thine misdeeds.

ਧਨੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਆਕ ਕੀ ਛਾਇਆ ਬਿਰਧਿ ਭਏ ਦਿਨ ਪੁੰਨਿਆ ॥
धनु जोबनु आक की छाइआ बिरधि भए दिन पुंनिआ ॥
Ḋʰan joban aak kee chʰaa▫i▫aa biraḋʰ bʰa▫é ḋin punni▫aa.
Thine riches and youth are like shade of swallowort. Growing old, thine days shall come to an end.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਛੂਟੀ ਝੂਠਿ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ॥੧॥
नानक नाम बिना दोहागणि छूटी झूठि विछुंनिआ ॥१॥
Naanak naam binaa ḋohaagaṇ chʰootee jʰootʰ vichʰunni▫aa. ||1||
Without the Name, thou shalt be a discarded, divorced bride. Thy falsehood shall separate thee from the Lord.

ਬੂਡੀ ਘਰੁ ਘਾਲਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਚਲੋ ॥
बूडी घरु घालिओ गुर कै भाइ चलो ॥
Boodee gʰar gʰaali▫o gur kæ bʰaa▫é chalo.
O bride Thou, art drowned. Thy home is ruined. Walk thou in Guru’s will.

ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਮਹਲੋ ॥
साचा नामु धिआइ पावहि सुखि महलो ॥
Saachaa naam ḋʰi▫aa▫é paavahi sukʰ mahlo.
Meditate thou on the True Name and thou shalt obtain peace in the Lord’s mansion.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਤਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰੇ ॥
हरि नामु धिआए ता सुखु पाए पेईअड़ै दिन चारे ॥
Har naam ḋʰi▫aa▫é ṫaa sukʰ paa▫é pé▫ee▫aṛæ ḋin chaaré.
If thou rememberest the Lord’s Name, then shalt thou attain bliss. Thy stay in this world is but for four days.

ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਬਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਏ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
निज घरि जाइ बहै सचु पाए अनदिनु नालि पिआरे ॥
Nij gʰar jaa▫é bahæ sach paa▫é an▫ḋin naal pi▫aaré.
She, who night and day, abides with her Beloved, obtains truth and goes and sits in her own Home.

ਵਿਣੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਸੁਣਿਅਹੁ ਲੋਕ ਸਬਾਏ ॥
विणु भगती घरि वासु न होवी सुणिअहु लोक सबाए ॥
viṇ bʰagṫee gʰar vaas na hovee suṇi▫ahu lok sabaa▫é.
Without the love-worship, one abides not in one’s Home. Hearken O ye all men.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਸੀ ਤਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਪਾਏ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਏ ॥੨॥
नानक सरसी ता पिरु पाए राती साचै नाए ॥२॥
Naanak sarsee ṫaa pir paa▫é raaṫee saachæ naa▫é. ||2||
Nanak, if she is imbued with the True Name, then is she rendered happy and obtains her Spouse.

ਪਿਰੁ ਧਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਵੈ ਨਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
पिरु धन भावै ता पिर भावै नारी जीउ ॥
Pir ḋʰan bʰaavæ ṫaa pir bʰaavæ naaree jee▫o.
If the bride become pleasing to her groom, then alone the groom love her bride.

ਰੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
रंगि प्रीतम राती गुर कै सबदि वीचारी जीउ ॥
Rang pareeṫam raaṫee gur kæ sabaḋ veechaaree jee▫o.
Imbued with her beloved’s love, she reflects over the Guru’s hymns.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇਈ ॥
गुर सबदि वीचारी नाह पिआरी निवि निवि भगति करेई ॥
Gur sabaḋ veechaaree naah pi▫aaree niv niv bʰagaṫ karé▫ee.
Reflects she on the Gurbani and her Spouse loves her and in all humility she embrace His devotional service.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਜਲਾਏ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਰਸ ਮਹਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਰੇਈ ॥
माइआ मोहु जलाए प्रीतमु रस महि रंगु करेई ॥
Maa▫i▫aa moh jalaa▫é pareeṫam ras mėh rang karé▫ee.
She burns her worldly love and in love enjoys her Beloved.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਚੇ ਸੇਤੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰੰਗੇਤੀ ਲਾਲ ਭਈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
प्रभ साचे सेती रंगि रंगेती लाल भई मनु मारी ॥
Parabʰ saaché séṫee rang rangéṫee laal bʰa▫ee man maaree.
She is imbued with the love of the True Lord, conquers her mind and becomes beauteous.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਿ ਵਸੀ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਪਿਰ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੩॥
नानक साचि वसी सोहागणि पिर सिउ प्रीति पिआरी ॥३॥
Naanak saach vasee sohagaṇ pir si▫o pareeṫ pi▫aaree. ||3||
Nanak, the happy bride abides in truth and bears sweet love to her Beloved.

ਪਿਰ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਨਾਰਿ ਜੇ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਵਏ ਜੀਉ ॥
पिर घरि सोहै नारि जे पिर भावए जीउ ॥
Pir gʰar sohæ naar jé pir bʰaav▫é jee▫o.
The bride looks beauteous in her Groom’s Home if she becomes pleasing to her Groom.

ਝੂਠੇ ਵੈਣ ਚਵੇ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਏ ਜੀਉ ॥
झूठे वैण चवे कामि न आवए जीउ ॥
Jʰootʰé væṇ chavé kaam na aav▫é jee▫o.
The utterance of false words is of no avail.

ਝੂਠੁ ਅਲਾਵੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਨੈਣੀ ॥
झूठु अलावै कामि न आवै ना पिरु देखै नैणी ॥
Jʰootʰ alaavæ kaam na aavæ naa pir ḋékʰæ næṇee.
If she utters falsehood, it is of no avail to her and she sees not her Spouse with her eyes.

ਅਵਗੁਣਿਆਰੀ ਕੰਤਿ ਵਿਸਾਰੀ ਛੂਟੀ ਵਿਧਣ ਰੈਣੀ ॥
अवगुणिआरी कंति विसारी छूटी विधण रैणी ॥
Avguṇi▫aaree kanṫ visaaree chʰootee viḋʰaṇ ræṇee.
Meritless, forgotten and divorced by her Spouse, she passes the night of her life without her Master.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਮਾਨੈ ਫਾਹੀ ਫਾਥੀ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
गुर सबदु न मानै फाही फाथी सा धन महलु न पाए ॥
Gur sabaḋ na maanæ faahee faaṫʰee saa ḋʰan mahal na paa▫é.
Such a wife believes not in the Guru’s word, is caught in the worldly net and obtains not her Lord’s mansion.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੪॥
नानक आपे आपु पछाणै गुरमुखि सहजि समाए ॥४॥
Naanak aapé aap pachʰaaṇæ gurmukʰ sahj samaa▫é. ||4||
Nanak, if she understands her ownself, then, by the Guru’s grace, she merges in the celestial peace.

ਧਨ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
धन सोहागणि नारि जिनि पिरु जाणिआ जीउ ॥
Ḋʰan sohagaṇ naar jin pir jaaṇi▫aa jee▫o.
Blessed is the fortunate bride who recognises her dear Spouse.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਣਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
नाम बिना कूड़िआरि कूड़ु कमाणिआ जीउ ॥
Naam binaa kooṛi▫aar kooṛ kamaaṇi▫aa jee▫o.
Without the Name, she is false and does false deeds.

ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਾਵੀ ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਤੀ ॥
हरि भगति सुहावी साचे भावी भाइ भगति प्रभ राती ॥
Har bʰagaṫ suhaavee saaché bʰaavee bʰaa▫é bʰagaṫ parabʰ raaṫee.
Beauteous is the God’s love, which the True Lord loves, so one should get absorbed in the Lord’s love adoration.

ਪਿਰੁ ਰਲੀਆਲਾ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਬਾਲਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਰਾਵੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ॥
पिरु रलीआला जोबनि बाला तिसु रावे रंगि राती ॥
Pir ralee▫aalaa joban baalaa ṫis raavé rang raaṫee.
Playful and youthful is my Beloved Imbued with His love, the bride enjoys Him.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਿਗਾਸੀ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵਾਸੀ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਣਕਾਰੀ ॥
गुर सबदि विगासी सहु रावासी फलु पाइआ गुणकारी ॥
Gur sabaḋ vigaasee saho raavaasee fal paa▫i▫aa guṇkaaree.
She flowers through the Guru’s hymns, enjoys her Spouse and obtains the merited Fruit.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਿਰ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਨਾਰੀ ॥੫॥੩॥
नानक साचु मिलै वडिआई पिर घरि सोहै नारी ॥५॥३॥
Naanak saach milæ vadi▫aa▫ee pir gʰar sohæ naaree. ||5||3||
Nanak, through truth, the bride attains, glory and looks beautiful in her Husband’s Home.
