ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਪੈ ॥
चरन कमल जा का मनु रापै ॥
Cẖaran kamal jā kā man rāpai.
One whose mind is imbued with the Lord's lotus feet
|
ਸੋਗ ਅਗਨਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥੨॥
सोग अगनि तिसु जन न बिआपै ॥२॥
Sog agan ṯis jan na bi▫āpai. ||2||
is not afflicted by the fire of sorrow. ||2||
|
ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰਿਆ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੇ ॥
सागरु तरिआ साधू संगे ॥
Sāgar ṯari▫ā sāḏẖū sange.
He crosses over the world-ocean in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੇ ॥੩॥
निरभउ नामु जपहु हरि रंगे ॥३॥
Nirbẖa▫o nām japahu har range. ||3||
He chants the Name of the Fearless Lord, and is imbued with the Lord's Love. ||3||
|
ਪਰ ਧਨ ਦੋਖ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਪ ਨ ਫੇੜੇ ॥
पर धन दोख किछु पाप न फेड़े ॥
Par ḏẖan ḏokẖ kicẖẖ pāp na feṛe.
One who does not steal the wealth of others, who does not commit evil deeds or sinful acts -

ਜਮ ਜੰਦਾਰੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨੇੜੇ ॥੪॥
जम जंदारु न आवै नेड़े ॥४॥
Jam janḏār na āvai neṛe. ||4||
the Messenger of Death does not even approach him. ||4||
|
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
त्रिसना अगनि प्रभि आपि बुझाई ॥
Ŧarisnā agan parabẖ āp bujẖā▫ī.
God Himself quenches the fires of desire.

ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੫॥੧॥੫੫॥
नानक उधरे प्रभ सरणाई ॥५॥१॥५५॥
Nānak uḏẖre parabẖ sarṇā▫ī. ||5||1||55||
O Nanak, in God's Sanctuary, one is saved. ||5||1||55||

ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਭਈ ਸਚੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਖਾਇਆ ॥
त्रिपति भई सचु भोजनु खाइआ ॥
Ŧaripaṯ bẖa▫ī sacẖ bẖojan kẖā▫i▫ā.
I am satisfied and satiated, eating the food of Truth.

ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
मनि तनि रसना नामु धिआइआ ॥१॥
Man ṯan rasnā nām ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā. ||1||
With my mind, body and tongue, I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
|
ਜੀਵਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਵਨਾ ॥
जीवना हरि जीवना ॥
Jīvnā har jīvnā.
Life, spiritual life, is in the Lord.
|
ਜੀਵਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जीवनु हरि जपि साधसंगि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jīvan har jap sāḏẖsang. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Spiritual life consists of chanting the Lord's Name in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||

ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੀ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਓਢਾਏ ॥
अनिक प्रकारी बसत्र ओढाए ॥
Anik parkārī basṯar odẖā▫e.
He is dressed in robes of all sorts,
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥੨॥
अनदिनु कीरतनु हरि गुन गाए ॥२॥
An▫ḏin kīrṯan har gun gā▫e. ||2||
if he sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Glorious Praises, day and night. ||2||
|
ਹਸਤੀ ਰਥ ਅਸੁ ਅਸਵਾਰੀ ॥
हसती रथ असु असवारी ॥
Hasṯī rath as asvārī.
He rides upon elephants, chariots and horses,
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
हरि का मारगु रिदै निहारी ॥३॥
Har kā mārag riḏai nihārī. ||3||
if he sees the Lord's Path within his own heart. ||3||
|
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
मन तन अंतरि चरन धिआइआ ॥
Man ṯan anṯar cẖaran ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā.
Meditating on the Lord's Feet, deep within his mind and body,
|
ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੬॥
हरि सुख निधान नानक दासि पाइआ ॥४॥२॥५६॥
Har sukẖ niḏẖān Nānak ḏās pā▫i▫ā. ||4||2||56||
slave Nanak has found the Lord, the treasure of peace. ||4||2||56||

ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥
गुर के चरन जीअ का निसतारा ॥
Gur ke cẖaran jī▫a kā nisṯārā.
The Guru's feet emancipate the soul.

ਸਮੁੰਦੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਤਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
समुंदु सागरु जिनि खिन महि तारा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Samunḏ sāgar jin kẖin mėh ṯārā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
They carry it across the world-ocean in an instant. ||1||Pause||
|
ਕੋਈ ਹੋਆ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਰਤੁ ਕੋਈ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਇਆ ॥
कोई होआ क्रम रतु कोई तीरथ नाइआ ॥
Ko▫ī ho▫ā karam raṯ ko▫ī ṯirath nā▫i▫ā.
Some love rituals, and some bathe at sacred shrines of pilgrimage.

ਦਾਸੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
दासीं हरि का नामु धिआइआ ॥१॥
Ḏāsīʼn har kā nām ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā. ||1||
The Lord's slaves meditate on His Name. ||1||
|
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਨਹਾਰੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
बंधन काटनहारु सुआमी ॥
Banḏẖan kātanhār su▫āmī.
The Lord Master is the Breaker of bonds.
|
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੨॥੩॥੫੭॥
जन नानकु सिमरै अंतरजामी ॥२॥३॥५७॥
Jan Nānak simrai anṯarjāmī. ||2||3||57||
Servant Nanak meditates in remembrance on the Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||2||3||57||

कितै प्रकारि न तूटउ प्रीति ॥
Kiṯai parkār na ṯūta▫o parīṯ.
Nothing can break his love for You,

ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
दास तेरे की निरमल रीति ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḏās ṯere kī nirmal rīṯ. ||1|| rahā▫o.
the lifestyle of Your slave is so pure. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮਨ ਧਨ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
जीअ प्रान मन धन ते पिआरा ॥
Jī▫a parān man ḏẖan ṯe pi▫ārā.
He is more dear to me than my soul, my breath of life, my mind and my wealth.

ਹਉਮੈ ਬੰਧੁ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
हउमै बंधु हरि देवणहारा ॥१॥
Ha▫umai banḏẖ har ḏevaṇhārā. ||1||
The Lord is the Giver, the Restrainer of the ego. ||1||
|
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਉ ਨੇਹੁ ॥
चरन कमल सिउ लागउ नेहु ॥
Cẖaran kamal si▫o lāga▫o nehu.
I am in love with the Lord's lotus feet.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਏਹ ॥੨॥੪॥੫੮॥
नानक की बेनंती एह ॥२॥४॥५८॥
Nānak kī benanṯī eh. ||2||4||58||
This alone is Nanak's prayer. ||2||4||58||

ਕਾਹੇ ਰੇ ਬਨ ਖੋਜਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
काहे रे बन खोजन जाई ॥
Kāhe re ban kẖojan jā▫ī.
Why do you go looking for Him in the forest?
|
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਸਦਾ ਅਲੇਪਾ ਤੋਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सरब निवासी सदा अलेपा तोही संगि समाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sarab nivāsī saḏā alepā ṯohī sang samā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Although he is unattached, he dwells everywhere. He is always with you as your companion. ||1||Pause||
|
ਪੁਹਪ ਮਧਿ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਸੁ ਬਸਤੁ ਹੈ ਮੁਕਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਛਾਈ ॥
पुहप मधि जिउ बासु बसतु है मुकर माहि जैसे छाई ॥
Puhap maḏẖ ji▫o bās basaṯ hai mukar māhi jaise cẖẖā▫ī.
Like the fragrance which remains in the flower, and like the reflection in the mirror,
|
ਤੈਸੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਬਸੇ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਘਟ ਹੀ ਖੋਜਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥
तैसे ही हरि बसे निरंतरि घट ही खोजहु भाई ॥१॥
Ŧaise hī har base niranṯar gẖat hī kẖojahu bẖā▫ī. ||1||
the Lord dwells deep within; search for Him within your own heart, O Siblings of Destiny. ||1||

ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਇਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬਤਾਈ ॥
बाहरि भीतरि एको जानहु इहु गुर गिआनु बताई ॥
Bāhar bẖīṯar eko jānhu ih gur gi▫ān baṯā▫ī.
Outside and inside, know that there is only the One Lord; the Guru has imparted this wisdom to me.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਆਪਾ ਚੀਨੈ ਮਿਟੈ ਨ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕੀ ਕਾਈ ॥੨॥੧॥
जन नानक बिनु आपा चीनै मिटै न भ्रम की काई ॥२॥१॥
Jan Nānak bin āpā cẖīnai mitai na bẖaram kī kā▫ī. ||2||1||
O servant Nanak, without knowing one's own self, the moss of doubt is not removed. ||2||1||

ਸਾਧੋ ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਭਰਮ ਭੁਲਾਨਾ ॥
साधो इहु जगु भरम भुलाना ॥
Sāḏẖo ih jag bẖaram bẖulānā.
O Holy people, this world is deluded by doubt.
|
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਹਾਥਿ ਬਿਕਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
राम नाम का सिमरनु छोडिआ माइआ हाथि बिकाना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Rām nām kā simran cẖẖodi▫ā mā▫i▫ā hāth bikānā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
It has forsaken the meditative remembrance of the Lord's Name, and sold itself out to Maya. ||1||Pause||

ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਰਸਿ ਲਪਟਾਨਾ ॥
मात पिता भाई सुत बनिता ता कै रसि लपटाना ॥
Māṯ piṯā bẖā▫ī suṯ baniṯā ṯā kai ras laptānā.
Mother, father, siblings, children and spouse - he is entangled in their love.
