Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਅਉਖੀ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਦੇਖਣ ਦੇਈ ਅਪਨਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥
A▫ukẖī gẖaṛī na ḏekẖaṇ ḏe▫ī apnā biraḏ samāle.
He does not let His devotees see the difficult times; this is His innate nature.

ਹਾਥ ਦੇਇ ਰਾਖੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੇ ॥੧॥
Hāth ḏe▫e rākẖai apne ka▫o sās sās parṯipāle. ||1||
Giving His hand, He protects His devotee; with each and every breath, He cherishes him. ||1||
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਮੇਰਾ ਚੀਤੁ ॥
Parabẖ si▫o lāg rahi▫o merā cẖīṯ.
My consciousness remains attached to God.

ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਈ ਧੰਨੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਮੀਤੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Āḏ anṯ parabẖ saḏā sahā▫ī ḏẖan hamārā mīṯ. Rahā▫o.
In the beginning, and in the end, God is always my helper and companion; blessed is my friend. ||Pause||
|
ਮਨਿ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਭਏ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੇ ਅਚਰਜ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਡਾਈ ॥
Man bilās bẖa▫e sāhib ke acẖraj ḏekẖ badā▫ī.
My mind is delighted, gazing upon the marvelous, glorious greatness of the Lord and Master.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਆਨਦ ਕਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈ ॥੨॥੧੫॥੪੬॥
Har simar simar ānaḏ kar Nānak parabẖ pūran paij rakẖā▫ī. ||2||15||46||
Remembering, remembering the Lord in meditation, Nanak is in ecstasy; God, in His perfection, has protected and preserved his honor. ||2||15||46||

ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੋਈ ਗਨਹੁ ਅਭਾਗਾ ॥
Jis ka▫o bisrai parānpaṯ ḏāṯā so▫ī ganhu abẖāgā.
One who forgets the Lord of life, the Great Giver - know that he is most unfortunate.

ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਗਿਓ ਅਮਿਅ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਪਾਗਾ ॥੧॥
Cẖaran kamal jā kā man rāgi▫o ami▫a sarovar pāgā. ||1||
One whose mind is in love with the Lord's lotus feet, obtains the pool of ambrosial nectar. ||1||
|
ਤੇਰਾ ਜਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਜਾਗਾ ॥
Ŧerā jan rām nām rang jāgā.
Your humble servant awakes in the Love of the Lord's Name.
|
ਆਲਸੁ ਛੀਜਿ ਗਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Ālas cẖẖīj ga▫i▫ā sabẖ ṯan ṯe parīṯam si▫o man lāgā. Rahā▫o.
All laziness has departed from his body, and his mind is attached to the Beloved Lord. ||Pause||
|
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਪੇਖਉ ਤਹ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਮਹਿ ਤਾਗਾ ॥
Jah jah pekẖa▫o ṯah nārā▫iṇ sagal gẖatā mėh ṯāgā.
Wherever I look, the Lord is there; He is the string, upon which all hearts are strung.

ਨਾਮ ਉਦਕੁ ਪੀਵਤ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਆਗੇ ਸਭਿ ਅਨੁਰਾਗਾ ॥੨॥੧੬॥੪੭॥
Nām uḏak pīvaṯ jan Nānak ṯi▫āge sabẖ anurāgā. ||2||16||47||
Drinking in the water of the Naam, servant Nanak has renounced all other loves. ||2||16||47||

ਜਨ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮ ॥
Jan ke pūran ho▫e kām.
All the affairs of the Lord's humble servant are perfectly resolved.

ਕਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਲਜਾ ਰਾਖੀ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Kalī kāl mahā bikẖi▫ā mėh lajā rākẖī rām. ||1|| rahā▫o.
In the utterly poisonous Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Lord preserves and protects his honor. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਮ ॥
Simar simar su▫āmī parabẖ apunā nikat na āvai jām.
Remembering, remembering God, his Lord and Master in meditation, the Messenger of Death does not approach him.

ਮੁਕਤਿ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਧਾਮ ॥੧॥
Mukaṯ baikunṯẖ sāḏẖ kī sangaṯ jan pā▫i▫o har kā ḏẖām. ||1||
Liberation and heaven are found in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; his humble servant finds the home of the Lord. ||1||
|
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਥਾਤੀ ਕੋਟਿ ਸੂਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥
Cẖaran kamal har jan kī thāṯī kot sūkẖ bisrām.
The Lord's lotus feet are the treasure of His humble servant; in them, he finds millions of pleasures and comforts.

ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਦਮੋਦਰ ਸਿਮਰਉ ਦਿਨ ਰੈਨਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੨॥੧੭॥੪੮॥
Gobinḏ ḏamoḏar simra▫o ḏin rain Nānak saḏ kurbān. ||2||17||48||
He remembers the Lord God in meditation, day and night; Nanak is forever a sacrifice to him. ||2||17||48||
|
ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਮਾਂਗਉ ਰਾਮ ਤੇ ਇਕੁ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
Māʼnga▫o rām ṯe ik ḏān.
I beg for one gift only from the Lord.
|
ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਸਿਮਰਉ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sagal manorath pūran hovėh simra▫o ṯumrā nām. ||1|| rahā▫o.
May all my desires be fulfilled, meditating on, and remembering Your Name, O Lord. ||1||Pause||
|
ਚਰਨ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਾਸਹਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਵਉ ॥
Cẖaran ṯumĥāre hirḏai vāsėh sanṯan kā sang pāva▫o.
May Your feet abide within my heart, and may I find the Society of the Saints.

ਸੋਗ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਉ ॥੧॥
Sog agan mėh man na vi▫āpai āṯẖ pahar guṇ gāva▫o. ||1||
May my mind not be afflicted by the fire of sorrow; may I sing Your Glorious Praises, twenty-four hours a day. ||1||
|
ਸ੍ਵਸਤਿ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਮਧ੍ਯ੍ਯੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਾਪਣ ॥
Savasṯ bivasthā har kī sevā maḏẖ▫yaʼnṯ parabẖ jāpaṇ.
May I serve the Lord in my childhood and youth, and meditate on God in my middle and old age.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਗਾ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਜਨਮ ਨ ਛਾਪਣ ॥੨॥੧੮॥੪੯॥
Nānak rang lagā parmesar bāhuṛ janam na cẖẖāpaṇ. ||2||18||49||
O Nanak, one who is imbued with the Love of the Transcendent Lord, is not reincarnated again to die. ||2||18||49||
|
ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:

ਮਾਂਗਉ ਰਾਮ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਥੋਕ ॥
Māʼnga▫o rām ṯe sabẖ thok.
I beg only from the Lord for all things.
|
ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕਉ ਜਾਚਤ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਮੋਖ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Mānukẖ ka▫o jācẖaṯ saram pā▫ī▫ai parabẖ kai simran mokẖ. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I would hesitate to beg from other people. Remembering God in meditation, liberation is obtained. ||1||Pause||
|
ਘੋਖੇ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪੁਰਾਨਾਂ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਕਾਰਹਿ ਘੋਖ ॥
Gẖokẖe mun jan simriṯ purānāʼn beḏ pukārėh gẖokẖ.
I have studied with the silent sages, and carefully read the Simritees, the Puraanas and the Vedas; they all proclaim that,

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਦੋਵੈ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਲੋਕ ॥੧॥
Kirpā sinḏẖ sev sacẖ pā▫ī▫ai ḏovai suhele lok. ||1||
by serving the Lord, the ocean of mercy, Truth is obtained, and both this world and the next are embellished. ||1||
|
ਆਨ ਅਚਾਰ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ਹੈ ਜੇਤੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਫੋਕ ॥
Ān acẖār bi▫uhār hai jeṯe bin har simran fok.
All other rituals and customs are useless, without remembering the Lord in meditation.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭੈ ਕਾਟੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੋਕ ॥੨॥੧੯॥੫੦॥
Nānak janam maraṇ bẖai kāte mil sāḏẖū binse sok. ||2||19||50||
O Nanak, the fear of birth and death has been removed; meeting the Holy Saint, sorrow is dispelled. ||2||19||50||

ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ॥
Ŧarisnā bujẖai har kai nām.
Desire is quenched, through the Lord's Name.
|
ਮਹਾ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Mahā sanṯokẖ hovai gur bacẖnī parabẖ si▫o lāgai pūran ḏẖi▫ān. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Great peace and contentment come through the Guru's Word, and one's meditation is perfectly focused upon God. ||1||Pause||
