ਜਿਨਿ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਅਗਨੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
जिनि मनु राखिआ अगनी पाइ ॥
Jin man rākẖi▫ā agnī pā▫e.
He preserved the mind in the fire of the womb;
|
ਵਾਜੈ ਪਵਣੁ ਆਖੈ ਸਭ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
वाजै पवणु आखै सभ जाइ ॥२॥
vājai pavaṇ ākẖai sabẖ jā▫e. ||2||
at His Command, the wind blows everywhere. ||2||
|
ਜੇਤਾ ਮੋਹੁ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਸੁਆਦ ॥
जेता मोहु परीति सुआद ॥
Jeṯā moh parīṯ su▫āḏ.
These worldly attachments, loves and pleasurable tastes,
|
ਸਭਾ ਕਾਲਖ ਦਾਗਾ ਦਾਗ ॥
सभा कालख दागा दाग ॥
Sabẖā kālakẖ ḏāgā ḏāg.
all are just black stains.
|
ਦਾਗ ਦੋਸ ਮੁਹਿ ਚਲਿਆ ਲਾਇ ॥
दाग दोस मुहि चलिआ लाइ ॥
Ḏāg ḏos muhi cẖali▫ā lā▫e.
One who departs, with these black stains of sin on his face
|
ਦਰਗਹ ਬੈਸਣ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
दरगह बैसण नाही जाइ ॥३॥
Ḏargėh baisaṇ nāhī jā▫e. ||3||
shall find no place to sit in the Court of the Lord. ||3||
|
ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਆਖਣੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
करमि मिलै आखणु तेरा नाउ ॥
Karam milai ākẖaṇ ṯerā nā▫o.
By Your Grace, we chant Your Name.
|
ਜਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਤਰਣਾ ਹੋਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਥਾਉ ॥
जितु लगि तरणा होरु नही थाउ ॥
Jiṯ lag ṯarṇā hor nahī thā▫o.
Becoming attached to it, one is saved; there is no other way.
|
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਡੂਬੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਾਰ ॥
जे को डूबै फिरि होवै सार ॥
Je ko dūbai fir hovai sār.
Even if one is drowning, still, he may be saved.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਰਬ ਦਾਤਾਰ ॥੪॥੩॥੫॥
नानक साचा सरब दातार ॥४॥३॥५॥
Nānak sācẖā sarab ḏāṯār. ||4||3||5||
O Nanak, the True Lord is the Giver of all. ||4||3||5||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
धनासरी महला १ ॥
Ḏẖanāsrī mėhlā 1.
Dhanaasaree, First Mehl:
|
ਚੋਰੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਚੀਤੁ ਨ ਭੀਜੈ ॥
चोरु सलाहे चीतु न भीजै ॥
Cẖor salāhe cẖīṯ na bẖījai.
If a thief praises someone, his mind is not pleased.
|
ਜੇ ਬਦੀ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਤਸੂ ਨ ਛੀਜੈ ॥
जे बदी करे ता तसू न छीजै ॥
Je baḏī kare ṯā ṯasū na cẖẖījai.
If a thief curses him, no damage is done.
|
ਚੋਰ ਕੀ ਹਾਮਾ ਭਰੇ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
चोर की हामा भरे न कोइ ॥
Cẖor kī hāmā bẖare na ko▫e.
No one will take responsibility for a thief.
|
ਚੋਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਚੰਗਾ ਕਿਉ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
चोरु कीआ चंगा किउ होइ ॥१॥
Cẖor kī▫ā cẖanga ki▫o ho▫e. ||1||
How can a thief's actions be good? ||1||
|
ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਅੰਧੇ ਕੁਤੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ॥
सुणि मन अंधे कुते कूड़िआर ॥
Suṇ man anḏẖe kuṯe kūṛi▫ār.
Listen, O mind, you blind, false dog!
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੋਲੇ ਬੂਝੀਐ ਸਚਿਆਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
बिनु बोले बूझीऐ सचिआर ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Bin bole būjẖī▫ai sacẖiār. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Even without your speaking, the Lord knows and understands. ||1||Pause||
|
ਚੋਰੁ ਸੁਆਲਿਉ ਚੋਰੁ ਸਿਆਣਾ ॥
चोरु सुआलिउ चोरु सिआणा ॥
Cẖor su▫āli▫o cẖor si▫āṇā.
A thief may be handsome, and a thief may be wise,
|
ਖੋਟੇ ਕਾ ਮੁਲੁ ਏਕੁ ਦੁਗਾਣਾ ॥
खोटे का मुलु एकु दुगाणा ॥
Kẖote kā mul ek ḏugāṇā.
but he is still just a counterfeit coin, worth only a shell.
|
ਜੇ ਸਾਥਿ ਰਖੀਐ ਦੀਜੈ ਰਲਾਇ ॥
जे साथि रखीऐ दीजै रलाइ ॥
Je sāth rakẖī▫ai ḏījai ralā▫e.
If it is kept and mixed with other coins,
|
ਜਾ ਪਰਖੀਐ ਖੋਟਾ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
जा परखीऐ खोटा होइ जाइ ॥२॥
Jā parkẖī▫ai kẖotā ho▫e jā▫e. ||2||
it will be found to be false, when the coins are inspected. ||2||
|
ਜੈਸਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
जैसा करे सु तैसा पावै ॥
Jaisā kare so ṯaisā pāvai.
As one acts, so does he receive.
|
ਆਪਿ ਬੀਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਖਾਵੈ ॥
आपि बीजि आपे ही खावै ॥
Āp bīj āpe hī kẖāvai.
As he plants, so does he eat.
|
ਜੇ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਆਪੇ ਖਾਇ ॥
जे वडिआईआ आपे खाइ ॥
Je vaḏi▫ā▫ī▫ā āpe kẖā▫e.
He may praise himself gloriously,
|
ਜੇਹੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਤੇਹੈ ਰਾਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
जेही सुरति तेहै राहि जाइ ॥३॥
Jehī suraṯ ṯehai rāhi jā▫e. ||3||
but still, according to his understanding, so is the path he must follow. ||3||
|
ਜੇ ਸਉ ਕੂੜੀਆ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਬਾੜੁ ॥
जे सउ कूड़ीआ कूड़ु कबाड़ु ॥
Je sa▫o kūṛī▫ā kūṛ kabāṛ.
He may tell hundreds of lies to conceal his falsehood,
|
ਭਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਆਖਉ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
भावै सभु आखउ संसारु ॥
Bẖāvai sabẖ ākẖa▫o sansār.
and all the world may call him good.
|
ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਅਧੀ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
तुधु भावै अधी परवाणु ॥
Ŧuḏẖ bẖāvai aḏẖī parvāṇ.
If it pleases You, Lord, even the foolish are approved.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਣੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੬॥
नानक जाणै जाणु सुजाणु ॥४॥४॥६॥
Nānak jāṇai jāṇ sujāṇ. ||4||4||6||
O Nanak, the Lord is wise, knowing, all-knowing. ||4||4||6||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
धनासरी महला १ ॥
Ḏẖanāsrī mėhlā 1.
Dhanaasaree, First Mehl:
|
ਕਾਇਆ ਕਾਗਦੁ ਮਨੁ ਪਰਵਾਣਾ ॥
काइआ कागदु मनु परवाणा ॥
Kā▫i▫ā kāgaḏ man parvāṇā.
The body is the paper, and the mind is the inscription written upon it.
|
ਸਿਰ ਕੇ ਲੇਖ ਨ ਪੜੈ ਇਆਣਾ ॥
सिर के लेख न पड़ै इआणा ॥
Sir ke lekẖ na paṛai i▫āṇā.
The ignorant fool does not read what is written on his forehead.
|
ਦਰਗਹ ਘੜੀਅਹਿ ਤੀਨੇ ਲੇਖ ॥
दरगह घड़ीअहि तीने लेख ॥
Ḏargėh gẖaṛī▫ahi ṯīne lekẖ.
In the Court of the Lord, three inscriptions are recorded.
|
ਖੋਟਾ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਵੇਖੁ ॥੧॥
खोटा कामि न आवै वेखु ॥१॥
Kẖotā kām na āvai vekẖ. ||1||
Behold, the counterfeit coin is worthless there. ||1||
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਰੁਪਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
नानक जे विचि रुपा होइ ॥
Nānak je vicẖ rupā ho▫e.
O Nanak, if there is silver in it,
|
ਖਰਾ ਖਰਾ ਆਖੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
खरा खरा आखै सभु कोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Kẖarā kẖarā ākẖai sabẖ ko▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
then everyone proclaims, "It is genuine, it is genuine". ||1||Pause||
|
ਕਾਦੀ ਕੂੜੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਮਲੁ ਖਾਇ ॥
कादी कूड़ु बोलि मलु खाइ ॥
Kāḏī kūṛ bol mal kẖā▫e.
The Qazi tells lies and eats filth;
|
ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜੀਆ ਘਾਇ ॥
ब्राहमणु नावै जीआ घाइ ॥
Barāhmaṇ nāvai jī▫ā gẖā▫e.
the Brahmin kills and then takes cleansing baths.
|
ਜੋਗੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਅੰਧੁ ॥
जोगी जुगति न जाणै अंधु ॥
Jogī jugaṯ na jāṇai anḏẖ.
The Yogi is blind, and does not know the Way.
|
ਤੀਨੇ ਓਜਾੜੇ ਕਾ ਬੰਧੁ ॥੨॥
तीने ओजाड़े का बंधु ॥२॥
Ŧīne ojāṛe kā banḏẖ. ||2||
The three of them devise their own destruction. ||2||
|
ਸੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਜੋ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
सो जोगी जो जुगति पछाणै ॥
So jogī jo jugaṯ pacẖẖāṇai.
He alone is a Yogi, who understands the Way.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
गुर परसादी एको जाणै ॥
Gur parsādī eko jāṇai.
By Guru's Grace, he knows the One Lord.
|
ਕਾਜੀ ਸੋ ਜੋ ਉਲਟੀ ਕਰੈ ॥
काजी सो जो उलटी करै ॥
Kājī so jo ultī karai.
He alone is a Qazi, who turns away from the world,
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ॥
गुर परसादी जीवतु मरै ॥
Gur parsādī jīvaṯ marai.
and who, by Guru's Grace, remains dead while yet alive.
|
ਸੋ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਜੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥
सो ब्राहमणु जो ब्रहमु बीचारै ॥
So barāhmaṇ jo barahm bīcẖārai.
He alone is a Brahmin, who contemplates God.
|
ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੈ ॥੩॥
आपि तरै सगले कुल तारै ॥३॥
Āp ṯarai sagle kul ṯārai. ||3||
He saves himself, and saves all his generations as well. ||3||
|
ਦਾਨਸਬੰਦੁ ਸੋਈ ਦਿਲਿ ਧੋਵੈ ॥
दानसबंदु सोई दिलि धोवै ॥
Ḏānasbanḏ so▫ī ḏil ḏẖovai.
One who cleanses his own mind is wise.
|
ਮੁਸਲਮਾਣੁ ਸੋਈ ਮਲੁ ਖੋਵੈ ॥
मुसलमाणु सोई मलु खोवै ॥
Musalmāṇ so▫ī mal kẖovai.
One who cleanses himself of impurity is a Muslim.
|
ਪੜਿਆ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
पड़िआ बूझै सो परवाणु ॥
Paṛi▫ā būjẖai so parvāṇ.
One who reads and understands is acceptable.
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਕਾ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੫॥੭॥
जिसु सिरि दरगह का नीसाणु ॥४॥५॥७॥
Jis sir ḏargėh kā nīsāṇ. ||4||5||7||
Upon his forehead is the Insignia of the Court of the Lord. ||4||5||7||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਕਾਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੋਗੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਤ ਕਾ ਢਬੁ ॥
कालु नाही जोगु नाही नाही सत का ढबु ॥
Kāl nāhī jog nāhī nāhī saṯ kā dẖab.
No, no, this is not the time, when people know the way to Yoga and Truth.

ਥਾਨਸਟ ਜਗ ਭਰਿਸਟ ਹੋਏ ਡੂਬਤਾ ਇਵ ਜਗੁ ॥੧॥
थानसट जग भरिसट होए डूबता इव जगु ॥१॥
Thānsat jag bẖarisat ho▫e dūbṯā iv jag. ||1||
The holy places of worship in the world are polluted, and so the world is drowning. ||1||
|
ਕਲ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
कल महि राम नामु सारु ॥
Kal mėh rām nām sār.
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Lord's Name is the most sublime.
|
ਅਖੀ ਤ ਮੀਟਹਿ ਨਾਕ ਪਕੜਹਿ ਠਗਣ ਕਉ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अखी त मीटहि नाक पकड़हि ठगण कउ संसारु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Akẖī ṯa mītėh nāk pakṛėh ṯẖagaṇ ka▫o sansār. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Some people try to deceive the world by closing their eyes and holding their nostrils closed. ||1||Pause||
|
ਆਂਟ ਸੇਤੀ ਨਾਕੁ ਪਕੜਹਿ ਸੂਝਤੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਲੋਅ ॥
आंट सेती नाकु पकड़हि सूझते तिनि लोअ ॥
Āʼnt seṯī nāk pakṛėh sūjẖ▫ṯe ṯin lo▫a.
They close off their nostrils with their fingers, and claim to see the three worlds.
