ਇਉ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੀਐ ਸਭੁ ਰਾਜੁ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਾ ਲੇਇ
इउ गुरमुखि आपु निवारीऐ सभु राजु स्रिसटि का लेइ ॥
I▫o gurmukẖ āp nivārī▫ai sabẖ rāj sarisat kā le▫e.
This is how the Gurmukhs eliminate their self-conceit, and come to rule the whole world.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੧॥
नानक गुरमुखि बुझीऐ जा आपे नदरि करेइ ॥१॥
Nānak gurmukẖ bujẖī▫ai jā āpe naḏar kare▫i. ||1||
O Nanak, the Gurmukh understands, when the Lord casts His Glance of Grace. ||1||

Mėhlā 3.
Third Mehl:

ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਆਏ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ
जिन गुरमुखि नामु धिआइआ आए ते परवाणु ॥
Jin gurmukẖ nām ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā ā▫e ṯe parvāṇ.
Blessed and approved is the coming into the world, of those Gurmukhs who meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਾਰਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਣੁ ॥੨॥
नानक कुल उधारहि आपणा दरगह पावहि माणु ॥२॥
Nānak kul uḏẖārėh āpṇā ḏargėh pāvahi māṇ. ||2||
O Nanak, they save their families, and they are honored in the Court of the Lord. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥

Pauree:

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਖੀਆ ਸਿਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਲਾਈਆ
गुरमुखि सखीआ सिख गुरू मेलाईआ ॥
Gurmukẖ sakẖī▫ā sikẖ gurū melā▫ī▫ā.
The Guru unites His Sikhs, the Gurmukhs, with the Lord.

ਇਕਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ਇਕਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਈਆ
इकि सेवक गुर पासि इकि गुरि कारै लाईआ ॥
Ik sevak gur pās ik gur kārai lā▫ī▫ā.
The Guru keeps some of them with Himself, and engages others in His Service.

ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਤਿਨਾ ਭਾਉ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇਵਾਈਆ
जिना गुरु पिआरा मनि चिति तिना भाउ गुरू देवाईआ ॥
Jinā gur pi▫ārā man cẖiṯ ṯinā bẖā▫o gurū ḏevā▫ī▫ā.
Those who cherish their Beloved in their conscious minds, the Guru blesses them with His Love.

ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖਾ ਇਕੋ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਤਾ ਪੁਤਾ ਭਾਈਆ
गुर सिखा इको पिआरु गुर मिता पुता भाईआ ॥
Gur sikẖā iko pi▫ār gur miṯā puṯā bẖā▫ī▫ā.
The Guru loves all of His GurSikhs equally well, like friends, children and siblings.

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਸਭਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਖਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀਵਾਈਆ ॥੧੪॥
गुरु सतिगुरु बोलहु सभि गुरु आखि गुरू जीवाईआ ॥१४॥
Gur saṯgur bolhu sabẖ gur ākẖ gurū jīvā▫ī▫ā. ||14||
So chant the Name of the Guru, the True Guru, everyone! Chanting the Name of the Guru, Guru, you shall be rejuvenated. ||14||

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ
सलोकु मः ३ ॥
Salok mėhlā 3.
Shalok, Third Mehl:

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੇਤਨੀ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਅਵਰੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਹਿ
नानक नामु न चेतनी अगिआनी अंधुले अवरे करम कमाहि ॥
Nānak nām na cẖeṯnī agi▫ānī anḏẖule avre karam kamāhi.
O Nanak, the blind, ignorant fools do not remember the Naam, the Name of the Lord; they involve themselves in other activities.

ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਪਚਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
जम दरि बधे मारीअहि फिरि विसटा माहि पचाहि ॥१॥
Jam ḏar baḏẖe mārī▫ah fir vistā māhi pacẖāhi. ||1||
They are bound and gagged at the door of the Messenger of Death; they are punished, and in the end, they rot away in manure. ||1||

ਮਃ

Third Mehl:

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਚੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ
नानक सतिगुरु सेवहि आपणा से जन सचे परवाणु ॥
Nānak saṯgur sevėh āpṇā se jan sacẖe parvāṇ.
O Nanak, those humble beings are true and approved, who serve their True Guru.

ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ ਸਮਾਇ ਰਹੇ ਚੂਕਾ ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣੁ ॥੨॥
हरि कै नाइ समाइ रहे चूका आवणु जाणु ॥२॥
Har kai nā▫e samā▫e rahe cẖūkā āvaṇ jāṇ. ||2||
They remain absorbed in the Name of the Lord, and their comings and goings cease. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਧਨੁ ਸੰਪੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਚੀਐ ਅੰਤੇ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ
धनु स्मपै माइआ संचीऐ अंते दुखदाई ॥
Ḏẖan sampai mā▫i▫ā sancẖī▫ai anṯe ḏukẖ▫ḏā▫ī.
Gathering the wealth and property of Maya, brings only pain in the end.

ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਲ ਸਵਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਥਿ ਜਾਈ
घर मंदर महल सवारीअहि किछु साथि न जाई ॥
Gẖar manḏar mahal savārī▫ah kicẖẖ sāth na jā▫ī.
Homes, mansions and adorned palaces will not go with anyone.

ਹਰ ਰੰਗੀ ਤੁਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਪਾਲੀਅਹਿ ਕਿਤੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਆਈ
हर रंगी तुरे नित पालीअहि कितै कामि न आई ॥
Har rangī ṯure niṯ pālī▫ah kiṯai kām na ā▫ī.
He may breed horses of various colors, but these will not be of any use to him.

ਜਨ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਚਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਅੰਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ
जन लावहु चितु हरि नाम सिउ अंति होइ सखाई ॥
Jan lāvhu cẖiṯ har nām si▫o anṯ ho▫e sakẖā▫ī.
O human, link your consciousness to the Lord's Name, and in the end, it shall be your companion and helper.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੧੫॥
जन नानक नामु धिआइआ गुरमुखि सुखु पाई ॥१५॥
Jan Nānak nām ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā gurmukẖ sukẖ pā▫ī. ||15||
Servant Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the Gurmukh is blessed with peace. ||15||

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ
सलोकु मः ३ ॥
Salok mėhlā 3.
Shalok, Third Mehl:

ਬਿਨੁ ਕਰਮੈ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ
बिनु करमै नाउ न पाईऐ पूरै करमि पाइआ जाइ ॥
Bin karmai nā▫o na pā▫ī▫ai pūrai karam pā▫i▫ā jā▫e.
Without the karma of good actions, the Name is not obtained; it can be obtained only by perfect good karma.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
नानक नदरि करे जे आपणी ता गुरमति मेलि मिलाइ ॥१॥
Nānak naḏar kare je āpṇī ṯā gurmaṯ mel milā▫e. ||1||
O Nanak, if the Lord casts His Glance of Grace, then under Guru's Instruction, one is united in His Union. ||1||

ਮਃ
मः १ ॥
Mėhlā 1.
First Mehl:

ਇਕ ਦਝਹਿ ਇਕ ਦਬੀਅਹਿ ਇਕਨਾ ਕੁਤੇ ਖਾਹਿ
इक दझहि इक दबीअहि इकना कुते खाहि ॥
Ik ḏajẖėh ik ḏabī▫ah iknā kuṯe kẖāhi.
Some are cremated, and some are buried; some are eaten by dogs.

ਇਕਿ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਉਸਟੀਅਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਭੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਹਸਣਿ ਪਾਹਿ
इकि पाणी विचि उसटीअहि इकि भी फिरि हसणि पाहि ॥
Ik pāṇī vicẖ ustī▫ah ik bẖī fir hasaṇ pāhi.
Some are thrown into water, while others are thrown into wells.

ਨਾਨਕ ਏਵ ਜਾਪਈ ਕਿਥੈ ਜਾਇ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
नानक एव न जापई किथै जाइ समाहि ॥२॥
Nānak ev na jāp▫ī kithai jā▫e samāhi. ||2||
O Nanak, it is not known, where they go and into what they merge. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥

Pauree:

ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਖਾਧਾ ਪੈਧਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਮਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਤੇ
तिन का खाधा पैधा माइआ सभु पवितु है जो नामि हरि राते ॥
Ŧin kā kẖāḏẖā paiḏẖā mā▫i▫ā sabẖ paviṯ hai jo nām har rāṯe.
The food and clothes, and all the worldly possessions of those who are attuned to the Lord's Name are sacred.

ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਲ ਸਰਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹਹਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਿਖ ਅਭਿਆਗਤ ਜਾਇ ਵਰਸਾਤੇ
तिन के घर मंदर महल सराई सभि पवितु हहि जिनी गुरमुखि सेवक सिख अभिआगत जाइ वरसाते ॥
Ŧin ke gẖar manḏar mahal sarā▫ī sabẖ paviṯ hėh jinī gurmukẖ sevak sikẖ abẖi▫āgaṯ jā▫e varsāṯe.
All the homes, temples, palaces and way-stations are sacred, where the Gurmukhs, the selfless servants, the Sikhs and the renouncers of the world, go and take their rest.

ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਤੁਰੇ ਜੀਨ ਖੁਰਗੀਰ ਸਭਿ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹਹਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਿਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਤ ਚੜਿ ਜਾਤੇ
तिन के तुरे जीन खुरगीर सभि पवितु हहि जिनी गुरमुखि सिख साध संत चड़ि जाते ॥
Ŧin ke ṯure jīn kẖurgīr sabẖ paviṯ hėh jinī gurmukẖ sikẖ sāḏẖ sanṯ cẖaṛ jāṯe.
All the horses, saddles and horse blankets are sacred, upon which the Gurmukhs, the Sikhs, the Holy and the Saints, mount and ride.

ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਭਿ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹਹਿ ਜੋ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਤੇ
तिन के करम धरम कारज सभि पवितु हहि जो बोलहि हरि हरि राम नामु हरि साते ॥
Ŧin ke karam ḏẖaram kāraj sabẖ paviṯ hėh jo bolėh har har rām nām har sāṯe.
All the rituals and Dharmic practices and deeds are sacred, for those who utter the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, the True Name of the Lord.

ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਪੋਤੈ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਸੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਿਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਤੇ ॥੧੬॥
जिन कै पोतै पुंनु है से गुरमुखि सिख गुरू पहि जाते ॥१६॥
Jin kai poṯai punn hai se gurmukẖ sikẖ gurū pėh jāṯe. ||16||
Those Gurmukhs, those Sikhs, who have purity as their treasure, go to their Guru. ||16||

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ
सलोकु मः ३ ॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਘੁਥਿਆ ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਜਾਇ
नानक नावहु घुथिआ हलतु पलतु सभु जाइ ॥
Nānak nāvhu gẖuthi▫ā halaṯ palaṯ sabẖ jā▫e.
O Nanak, forsaking the Name, he loses everything, in this world and the next.

ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਿਰਿ ਲਇਆ ਮੁਠੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ
जपु तपु संजमु सभु हिरि लइआ मुठी दूजै भाइ ॥
Jap ṯap sanjam sabẖ hir la▫i▫ā muṯẖī ḏūjai bẖā▫e.
Chanting, deep meditation and austere self-disciplined practices are all wasted; he is deceived by the love of duality.

ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
जम दरि बधे मारीअहि बहुती मिलै सजाइ ॥१॥
Jam ḏar baḏẖe mārī▫ah bahuṯī milai sajā▫e. ||1||
He is bound and gagged at the door of the Messenger of Death. He is beaten, and receives terrible punishment. ||1||
