ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ
सलोकु मः ३ ॥
Salok mėhlā 3.
Shalok, Third Mehl:

ਹਉਮੈ ਜਲਤੇ ਜਲਿ ਮੁਏ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਆਏ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ
हउमै जलते जलि मुए भ्रमि आए दूजै भाइ ॥
Ha▫umai jalṯe jal mu▫e bẖaram ā▫e ḏūjai bẖā▫e.
In the flames of egotism, he is burnt to death; he wanders in doubt and the love of duality.

ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਆਪਣੈ ਪੰਨੈ ਪਾਇ
पूरै सतिगुरि राखि लीए आपणै पंनै पाइ ॥
Pūrai saṯgur rākẖ lī▫e āpṇai pannai pā▫e.
The Perfect True Guru saves him, making him His own.

ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਜਲਤਾ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ
इहु जगु जलता नदरी आइआ गुर कै सबदि सुभाइ ॥
Ih jag jalṯā naḏrī ā▫i▫ā gur kai sabaḏ subẖā▫e.
This world is burning; through the Sublime Word of the Guru's Shabad, this comes to be seen.

ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਸੀਤਲ ਭਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
सबदि रते से सीतल भए नानक सचु कमाइ ॥१॥
Sabaḏ raṯe se sīṯal bẖa▫e Nānak sacẖ kamā▫e. ||1||
Those who are attuned to the Shabad are cooled and soothed; O Nanak, they practice Truth. ||1||

Mėhlā 3.
Third Mehl:

ਸਫਲਿਓ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ
सफलिओ सतिगुरु सेविआ धंनु जनमु परवाणु ॥
Safli▫o saṯgur sevi▫ā ḏẖan janam parvāṇ.
Service to the True Guru is fruitful and rewarding; blessed and acceptable is such a life.

ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜੀਵਦਿਆ ਮੁਇਆ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਸੇਈ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੁਜਾਣ
जिना सतिगुरु जीवदिआ मुइआ न विसरै सेई पुरख सुजाण ॥
Jinā saṯgur jīvḏi▫ā mu▫i▫ā na visrai se▫ī purakẖ sujāṇ.
Those who do not forget the True Guru, in life and in death, are truly wise people.

ਕੁਲੁ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ
कुलु उधारे आपणा सो जनु होवै परवाणु ॥
Kul uḏẖāre āpṇā so jan hovai parvāṇ.
Their families are saved, and they are approved by the Lord.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੁਏ ਜੀਵਦੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹਹਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰਾਹਿ
गुरमुखि मुए जीवदे परवाणु हहि मनमुख जनमि मराहि ॥
Gurmukẖ mu▫e jīvḏe parvāṇ hėh manmukẖ janam marāhi.
The Gurmukhs are approved in death as in life, while the self-willed manmukhs continue the cycle of birth and death.

ਨਾਨਕ ਮੁਏ ਆਖੀਅਹਿ ਜਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
नानक मुए न आखीअहि जि गुर कै सबदि समाहि ॥२॥
Nānak mu▫e na ākẖī▫ahi jė gur kai sabaḏ samāhi. ||2||
O Nanak, they are not described as dead, who are absorbed in the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ
हरि पुरखु निरंजनु सेवि हरि नामु धिआईऐ ॥
Har purakẖ niranjan sev har nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai.
Serve the Immaculate Lord God, and meditate on the Lord's Name.

ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਲਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ
सतसंगति साधू लगि हरि नामि समाईऐ ॥
Saṯsangaṯ sāḏẖū lag har nām samā▫ī▫ai.
Join the Society of the Holy Saints, and be absorbed in the Lord's Name.

ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡੀ ਕਾਰ ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਲਾਈਐ
हरि तेरी वडी कार मै मूरख लाईऐ ॥
Har ṯerī vadī kār mai mūrakẖ lā▫ī▫ai.
O Lord, glorious and great is service to You; I am so foolish -

ਹਉ ਗੋਲਾ ਲਾਲਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਮੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਫੁਰਮਾਈਐ
हउ गोला लाला तुधु मै हुकमु फुरमाईऐ ॥
Ha▫o golā lālā ṯuḏẖ mai hukam furmā▫ī▫ai.
please, commit me to it. I am Your servant and slave; command me, according to Your Will.

ਹਉ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਾ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਮਝਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
हउ गुरमुखि कार कमावा जि गुरि समझाईऐ ॥२॥
Ha▫o gurmukẖ kār kamāvā jė gur samjā▫ī▫ai. ||2||
As Gurmukh, I shall serve You, as Guru has instructed me. ||2||

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ

ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਜਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਲਿਖਿਆਸੁ
पूरबि लिखिआ कमावणा जि करतै आपि लिखिआसु ॥
Pūrab likẖi▫ā kamāvaṇā jė karṯai āp likẖi▫ās.
He acts according to pre-ordained destiny, written by the Creator Himself.

ਮੋਹ ਠਗਉਲੀ ਪਾਈਅਨੁ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ
मोह ठगउली पाईअनु विसरिआ गुणतासु ॥
Moh ṯẖag▫ulī pā▫ī▫an visri▫ā guṇṯās.
Emotional attachment has drugged him, and he has forgotten the Lord, the treasure of virtue.

ਮਤੁ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਵਦਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਮੁਇਆਸੁ
मतु जाणहु जगु जीवदा दूजै भाइ मुइआसु ॥
Maṯ jāṇhu jag jīvḏā ḏūjai bẖā▫e mu▫i▫ās.
Don't think that he is alive in the world - he is dead, through the love of duality.

ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਸੇ ਬਹਣਿ ਮਿਲਨੀ ਪਾਸਿ
जिनी गुरमुखि नामु न चेतिओ से बहणि न मिलनी पासि ॥
Jinī gurmukẖ nām na cẖeṯi▫o se bahaṇ na milnī pās.
Those who do not meditate on the Lord, as Gurmukh, are not permitted to sit near the Lord.

ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਬਹੁ ਅਤਿ ਘਣਾ ਪੁਤੁ ਕਲਤੁ ਸਾਥਿ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਸਿ
दुखु लागा बहु अति घणा पुतु कलतु न साथि कोई जासि ॥
Ḏukẖ lāgā baho aṯ gẖaṇā puṯ kalaṯ na sāth ko▫ī jās.
They suffer the most horrible pain and suffering, and neither their sons nor their wives go along with them.

ਲੋਕਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਮੁਹੁ ਕਾਲਾ ਹੋਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਉਭੇ ਸਾਸ
लोका विचि मुहु काला होआ अंदरि उभे सास ॥
Lokā vicẖ muhu kālā ho▫ā anḏar ubẖe sās.
Their faces are blackened among men, and they sigh in deep regret.

ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਕੋ ਵਿਸਹੀ ਚੁਕਿ ਗਇਆ ਵੇਸਾਸੁ
मनमुखा नो को न विसही चुकि गइआ वेसासु ॥
Manmukẖā no ko na vishī cẖuk ga▫i▫ā vesās.
No one places any reliance in the self-willed manmukhs; trust in them is lost.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
नानक गुरमुखा नो सुखु अगला जिना अंतरि नाम निवासु ॥१॥
Nānak gurmukẖā no sukẖ aglā jinā anṯar nām nivās. ||1||
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs live in absolute peace; the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides within them. ||1||

ਮਃ
मः ३ ॥
Mėhlā 3.
Third Mehl:

ਸੇ ਸੈਣ ਸੇ ਸਜਣਾ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ
से सैण से सजणा जि गुरमुखि मिलहि सुभाइ ॥
Se saiṇ se sajṇā jė gurmukẖ milėh subẖā▫e.
They alone are relatives, and they alone are friends, who, as Gurmukh, join together in love.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਇ
सतिगुर का भाणा अनदिनु करहि से सचि रहे समाइ ॥
Saṯgur kā bẖāṇā an▫ḏin karahi se sacẖ rahe samā▫e.
Night and day, they act according to the True Guru's Will; they remain absorbed in the True Name.

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਲਗੇ ਸਜਣ ਆਖੀਅਹਿ ਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਵੇਕਾਰ
दूजै भाइ लगे सजण न आखीअहि जि अभिमानु करहि वेकार ॥
Ḏūjai bẖā▫e lage sajaṇ na ākẖī▫ahi jė abẖimān karahi vekār.
Those who are attached to the love of duality are not called friends; they practice egotism and corruption.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਆਪ ਸੁਆਰਥੀ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਕਹਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ
मनमुख आप सुआरथी कारजु न सकहि सवारि ॥
Manmukẖ āp su▫ārthī kāraj na sakahi savār.
The self-willed manmukhs are selfish; they cannot resolve anyone's affairs.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਕੋਇ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
नानक पूरबि लिखिआ कमावणा कोइ न मेटणहारु ॥२॥
Nānak pūrab likẖi▫ā kamāvaṇā ko▫e na metaṇhār. ||2||
O Nanak, they act according to their pre-ordained destiny; no one can erase it. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਆਪਿ ਖੇਲੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ
तुधु आपे जगतु उपाइ कै आपि खेलु रचाइआ ॥
Ŧuḏẖ āpe jagaṯ upā▫e kai āp kẖel racẖā▫i▫ā.
You Yourself created the world, and You Yourself arranged the play of it.

ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਆਪਿ ਸਿਰਜਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਧਾਇਆ
त्रै गुण आपि सिरजिआ माइआ मोहु वधाइआ ॥
Ŧarai guṇ āp sirji▫ā mā▫i▫ā moh vaḏẖā▫i▫ā.
You Yourself created the three qualities, and fostered emotional attachment to Maya.

ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇਆ
विचि हउमै लेखा मंगीऐ फिरि आवै जाइआ ॥
vicẖ ha▫umai lekẖā mangī▫ai fir āvai jā▫i▫ā.
He is called to account for his deeds done in egotism; he continues coming and going in reincarnation.

ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ
जिना हरि आपि क्रिपा करे से गुरि समझाइआ ॥
Jinā har āp kirpā kare se gur samjẖā▫i▫ā.
The Guru instructs those whom the Lord Himself blesses with Grace.

ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਘੁਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
बलिहारी गुर आपणे सदा सदा घुमाइआ ॥३॥
Balihārī gur āpṇe saḏā saḏā gẖumā▫i▫ā. ||3||
I am a sacrifice to my Guru; forever and ever, I am a sacrifice to Him. ||3||

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ

ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਿਣੁ ਦੰਤਾ ਜਗੁ ਖਾਇਆ
माइआ ममता मोहणी जिनि विणु दंता जगु खाइआ ॥
Mā▫i▫ā mamṯā mohṇī jin viṇ ḏanṯā jag kẖā▫i▫ā.
The love of Maya is enticing; without teeth, it has eaten up the world.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਖਾਧੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ
मनमुख खाधे गुरमुखि उबरे जिनी सचि नामि चितु लाइआ ॥
Manmukẖ kẖāḏẖe gurmukẖ ubre jinī sacẖ nām cẖiṯ lā▫i▫ā.
The self-willed manmukhs are eaten away, while the Gurmukhs are saved; they focus their consciousness on the True Name.

ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜਗੁ ਕਮਲਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ
बिनु नावै जगु कमला फिरै गुरमुखि नदरी आइआ ॥
Bin nāvai jag kamlā firai gurmukẖ naḏrī ā▫i▫ā.
Without the Name, the world wanders around insane; the Gurmukhs come to see this.
