ਮਨ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਤੀਰਥ ਜਾਇ ਬਸਿਓ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰਵਤ ਧਰਾਏ
मन कामना तीरथ जाइ बसिओ सिरि करवत धराए ॥
Man kāmnā ṯirath jā▫e basi▫o sir karvaṯ ḏẖarā▫e.
His mind's desires may lead him to go and dwell at sacred places of pilgrimage, and offer his head to be sawn off;

ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਜੇ ਲਖ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਾਏ ॥੩॥
मन की मैलु न उतरै इह बिधि जे लख जतन कराए ॥३॥
Man kī mail na uṯrai ih biḏẖ je lakẖ jaṯan karā▫e. ||3||
but this will not cause the filth of his mind to depart, even though he may make thousands of efforts. ||3||

ਕਨਿਕ ਕਾਮਿਨੀ ਹੈਵਰ ਗੈਵਰ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਦਾਤਾਰਾ
कनिक कामिनी हैवर गैवर बहु बिधि दानु दातारा ॥
Kanik kāminī haivar gaivar baho biḏẖ ḏān ḏāṯārā.
He may give gifts of all sorts - gold, women, horses and elephants.

ਅੰਨ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਭੂਮਿ ਬਹੁ ਅਰਪੇ ਨਹ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥੪॥
अंन बसत्र भूमि बहु अरपे नह मिलीऐ हरि दुआरा ॥४॥
Ann basṯar bẖūm baho arpe nah milī▫ai har ḏu▫ārā. ||4||
He may make offerings of corn, clothes and land in abundance, but this will not lead him to the Lord's Door. ||4||

ਪੂਜਾ ਅਰਚਾ ਬੰਦਨ ਡੰਡਉਤ ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਰਤੁ ਰਹਤਾ
पूजा अरचा बंदन डंडउत खटु करमा रतु रहता ॥
Pūjā arcẖā banḏan dand▫uṯ kẖat karmā raṯ rahṯā.
He may remain devoted to worship and adoration, bowing his forehead to the floor, practicing the six religious rituals.

ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤ ਬੰਧਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਿਆ ਨਹ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਇਹ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥੫॥
हउ हउ करत बंधन महि परिआ नह मिलीऐ इह जुगता ॥५॥
Ha▫o ha▫o karaṯ banḏẖan mėh pari▫ā nah milī▫ai ih jugṯā. ||5||
He indulges in egotism and pride, and falls into entanglements, but he does not meet the Lord by these devices. ||5||

ਜੋਗ ਸਿਧ ਆਸਣ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਭੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ
जोग सिध आसण चउरासीह ए भी करि करि रहिआ ॥
Jog siḏẖ āsaṇ cẖa▫orāsīh e bẖī kar kar rahi▫ā.
He practices the eighty-four postures of Yoga, and acquires the supernatural powers of the Siddhas, but he gets tired of practicing these.

ਵਡੀ ਆਰਜਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਸੰਗੁ ਗਹਿਆ ॥੬॥
वडी आरजा फिरि फिरि जनमै हरि सिउ संगु न गहिआ ॥६॥
vadī ārjā fir fir janmai har si▫o sang na gahi▫ā. ||6||
He lives a long life, but is reincarnated again and again; he has not met with the Lord. ||6||

ਰਾਜ ਲੀਲਾ ਰਾਜਨ ਕੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਅਫਾਰਾ
राज लीला राजन की रचना करिआ हुकमु अफारा ॥
Rāj līlā rājan kī racẖnā kari▫ā hukam afārā.
He may enjoy princely pleasures, and regal pomp and ceremony, and issue unchallenged commands.

ਸੇਜ ਸੋਹਨੀ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਚੋਆ ਨਰਕ ਘੋਰ ਕਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥੭॥
सेज सोहनी चंदनु चोआ नरक घोर का दुआरा ॥७॥
Sej sohnī cẖanḏan cẖo▫ā narak gẖor kā ḏu▫ārā. ||7||
He may lie on beautiful beds, perfumed with sandalwood oil, but this will led him only to the gates of the most horrible hell. ||7||

ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰਮਨ ਕੈ ਕਰਮਾ
हरि कीरति साधसंगति है सिरि करमन कै करमा ॥
Har kīraṯ sāḏẖsangaṯ hai sir karman kai karmā.
Singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, is the highest of all actions.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਇਓ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਪੁਰਬ ਲਿਖੇ ਕਾ ਲਹਨਾ ॥੮॥
कहु नानक तिसु भइओ परापति जिसु पुरब लिखे का लहना ॥८॥
Kaho Nānak ṯis bẖa▫i▫o parāpaṯ jis purab likẖe kā lahnā. ||8||
Says Nanak, he alone obtains it, who is pre-destined to receive it. ||8||

ਤੇਰੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਇਹ ਰੰਗਿ ਮਾਤਾ
तेरो सेवकु इह रंगि माता ॥
Ŧero sevak ih rang māṯā.
Your slave is intoxicated with this Love of Yours.

ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥੩॥
भइओ क्रिपालु दीन दुख भंजनु हरि हरि कीरतनि इहु मनु राता ॥ रहाउ दूजा ॥१॥३॥
Bẖa▫i▫o kirpāl ḏīn ḏukẖ bẖanjan har har kīrṯan ih man rāṯā. Rahā▫o ḏūjā. ||1||3||
The Destroyer of the pains of the poor has become merciful to me, and this mind is imbued with the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||Second. Pause||1||3||

ਰਾਗੁ ਸੋਰਠਿ ਵਾਰ ਮਹਲੇ ਕੀ

Vaar Of Raag Sorat'h, Fourth Mehl:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ
सलोकु मः १ ॥
Salok mėhlā 1.
Shalok, First Mehl:

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਜੇ ਸਚਾ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ
सोरठि सदा सुहावणी जे सचा मनि होइ ॥
Soraṯẖ saḏā suhāvaṇī je sacẖā man ho▫e.
Sorat'h is always beautiful, if it brings the True Lord to dwell in the mind of the soul-bride.

ਦੰਦੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਕਤੁ ਮਨਿ ਜੀਭੈ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ
दंदी मैलु न कतु मनि जीभै सचा सोइ ॥
Ḏanḏī mail na kaṯ man jībẖai sacẖā so▫e.
Her teeth are clean and her mind is not split by duality; the Name of the True Lord is on her tongue.

ਸਸੁਰੈ ਪੇਈਐ ਭੈ ਵਸੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਨਿਸੰਗ
ससुरै पेईऐ भै वसी सतिगुरु सेवि निसंग ॥
Sasurai pe▫ī▫ai bẖai vasī saṯgur sev nisang.
Here and hereafter, she abides in the Fear of God, and serves the True Guru without hesitation.

ਪਰਹਰਿ ਕਪੜੁ ਜੇ ਪਿਰ ਮਿਲੈ ਖੁਸੀ ਰਾਵੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਸੰਗਿ
परहरि कपड़ु जे पिर मिलै खुसी रावै पिरु संगि ॥
Parhar kapaṛ je pir milai kẖusī rāvai pir sang.
Discarding worldly adornments, she meets her Husband Lord, and she celebrates joyfully with Him.

ਸਦਾ ਸੀਗਾਰੀ ਨਾਉ ਮਨਿ ਕਦੇ ਮੈਲੁ ਪਤੰਗੁ
सदा सीगारी नाउ मनि कदे न मैलु पतंगु ॥
Saḏā sīgārī nā▫o man kaḏe na mail paṯang.
She is adorned forever with the Name in her mind, and she does not have even an iota of filth.

ਦੇਵਰ ਜੇਠ ਮੁਏ ਦੁਖਿ ਸਸੂ ਕਾ ਡਰੁ ਕਿਸੁ
देवर जेठ मुए दुखि ससू का डरु किसु ॥
Ḏevar jeṯẖ mu▫e ḏukẖ sasū kā dar kis.
Her husband's younger and elder brothers, the corrupt desires, have died, suffering in pain; and now, who fears Maya, the mother-in-law?

ਜੇ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਕਰਮ ਮਣੀ ਸਭੁ ਸਚੁ ॥੧॥
जे पिर भावै नानका करम मणी सभु सचु ॥१॥
Je pir bẖāvai nānkā karam maṇī sabẖ sacẖ. ||1||
If she becomes pleasing to her Husband Lord, O Nanak, she bears the jewel of good karma upon her forehead, and everything is Truth to her. ||1||

मः ४ ॥
Mėhlā 4.
Fourth Mehl:

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਤਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਢੰਢੋਲੇ
सोरठि तामि सुहावणी जा हरि नामु ढंढोले ॥
Soraṯẖ ṯām suhāvaṇī jā har nām dẖandẖole.
Sorat'h is beautiful only when it leads the soul-bride to seek the Lord's Name.

ਗੁਰ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਨਾਵੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲੇ
गुर पुरखु मनावै आपणा गुरमती हरि हरि बोले ॥
Gur purakẖ manāvai āpṇā gurmaṯī har har bole.
She pleases her Guru and God; under Guru's Instruction, she speaks the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਕਸਾਈ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਚੋਲੇ
हरि प्रेमि कसाई दिनसु राति हरि रती हरि रंगि चोले ॥
Har parem kasā▫ī ḏinas rāṯ har raṯī har rang cẖole.
She is attracted to the Lord's Name, day and night, and her body is drenched in the color of the Love of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਹਰਿ ਜੈਸਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਲਭਈ ਸਭੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਗਤੁ ਮੈ ਟੋਲੇ
हरि जैसा पुरखु न लभई सभु देखिआ जगतु मै टोले ॥
Har jaisā purakẖ na labẖ▫ī sabẖ ḏekẖi▫ā jagaṯ mai tole.
No other being like the Lord God can be found; I have looked and searched over the whole world.

ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਅਨਤ ਕਾਹੂ ਡੋਲੇ
गुरि सतिगुरि नामु द्रिड़ाइआ मनु अनत न काहू डोले ॥
Gur saṯgur nām driṛ▫ā▫i▫ā man anaṯ na kāhū dole.
The Guru, the True Guru, has implanted the Naam within me; my mind does not waver any more.

ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਗੋਲ ਗੋਲੇ ॥੨॥
जनु नानकु हरि का दासु है गुर सतिगुर के गोल गोले ॥२॥
Jan Nānak har kā ḏās hai gur saṯgur ke gol gole. ||2||
Servant Nanak is the Lord's slave, the slave of the slaves of the Guru, the True Guru. ||2||

Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਿਆ
तू आपे सिसटि करता सिरजणहारिआ ॥
Ŧū āpe sisat karṯā sirjaṇhāri▫ā.
You Yourself are the Creator, the Fashioner of the world.

ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਖੇਲੁ ਰਚਾਇ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ
तुधु आपे खेलु रचाइ तुधु आपि सवारिआ ॥
Ŧuḏẖ āpe kẖel racẖā▫e ṯuḏẖ āp savāri▫ā.
You Yourself have arranged the play, and You Yourself arrange it.

ਦਾਤਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਭੋਗਣਹਾਰਿਆ
दाता करता आपि आपि भोगणहारिआ ॥
Ḏāṯā karṯā āp āp bẖogaṇhāri▫ā.
You Yourself are the Giver and the Creator; You Yourself are the Enjoyer.

ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਉਪਾਵਣਹਾਰਿਆ
सभु तेरा सबदु वरतै उपावणहारिआ ॥
Sabẖ ṯerā sabaḏ varṯai upāvaṇhāri▫ā.
The Word of Your Shabad is pervading everywhere, O Creator Lord.

ਹਉ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
हउ गुरमुखि सदा सलाही गुर कउ वारिआ ॥१॥
Ha▫o gurmukẖ saḏā salāhī gur ka▫o vāri▫ā. ||1||
As Gurmukh, I ever praise the Lord; I am a sacrifice to the Guru. ||1||
