ਤਿਨਾ ਪਿਛੈ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜੋ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥੨॥
तिना पिछै छुटीऐ पिआरे जो साची सरणाइ ॥२॥
Ŧinā picẖẖai cẖẖutī▫ai pi▫āre jo sācẖī sarṇā▫e. ||2||
We are saved by following those, O Beloved, who seek the Sanctuary of the True Lord. ||2||

ਮਿਠਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਖਾਇਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਕੀਤਾ ਰੋਗੁ ॥
मिठा करि कै खाइआ पिआरे तिनि तनि कीता रोगु ॥
Miṯẖā kar kai kẖā▫i▫ā pi▫āre ṯin ṯan kīṯā rog.
He thinks that his food is so sweet, O Beloved, but it makes his body ill.

ਕਉੜਾ ਹੋਇ ਪਤਿਸਟਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
कउड़ा होइ पतिसटिआ पिआरे तिस ते उपजिआ सोगु ॥
Ka▫uṛā ho▫e paṯisati▫ā pi▫āre ṯis ṯe upji▫ā sog.
It turns out to be bitter, O Beloved, and it produces only sadness.

ਭੋਗ ਭੁੰਚਾਇ ਭੁਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਉਤਰੈ ਨਹੀ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ॥
भोग भुंचाइ भुलाइअनु पिआरे उतरै नही विजोगु ॥
Bẖog bẖuncẖā▫e bẖulā▫i▫an pi▫āre uṯrai nahī vijog.
The Lord leads him astray in the enjoyment of pleasures, O Beloved, and so his sense of separation does not depart.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਮੇਲਿ ਉਧਾਰਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਧੁਰੇ ਪਇਆ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ॥੩॥
जो गुर मेलि उधारिआ पिआरे तिन धुरे पइआ संजोगु ॥३॥
Jo gur mel uḏẖāri▫ā pi▫āre ṯin ḏẖure pa▫i▫ā sanjog. ||3||
Those who meet the Guru are saved, O Beloved; this is their pre-ordained destiny. ||3||

ਮਾਇਆ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਅਟਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਹਿ ਮੂਲਿ ॥
माइआ लालचि अटिआ पिआरे चिति न आवहि मूलि ॥
Mā▫i▫ā lālacẖ ati▫ā pi▫āre cẖiṯ na āvahi mūl.
He is filled with longing for Maya, O Beloved, and so the Lord does not ever come into his mind.

ਜਿਨ ਤੂ ਵਿਸਰਹਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੇ ਤਨ ਹੋਏ ਧੂੜਿ ॥
जिन तू विसरहि पारब्रहम सुआमी से तन होए धूड़ि ॥
Jin ṯū visrahi pārbarahm su▫āmī se ṯan ho▫e ḏẖūṛ.
Those who forget You, O Supreme Lord Master, their bodies turn to dust.

ਬਿਲਲਾਟ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਉਤਰੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੂਲੁ ॥
बिललाट करहि बहुतेरिआ पिआरे उतरै नाही सूलु ॥
Billāt karahi bahuṯeri▫ā pi▫āre uṯrai nāhī sūl.
They cry out and scream horribly, O Beloved, but their torment does not end.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਮੇਲਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਰਹਿਆ ਮੂਲੁ ॥੪॥
जो गुर मेलि सवारिआ पिआरे तिन का रहिआ मूलु ॥४॥
Jo gur mel savāri▫ā pi▫āre ṯin kā rahi▫ā mūl. ||4||
Those who meet the Guru, and reform themselves, O Beloved, their capital remains intact. ||4||

ਸਾਕਤ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਕੀਜਈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜੇ ਕਾ ਪਾਰਿ ਵਸਾਇ ॥
साकत संगु न कीजई पिआरे जे का पारि वसाइ ॥
Sākaṯ sang na kīj▫ī pi▫āre je kā pār vasā▫e.
As far as possible, do not associate with the faithless cynics, O Beloved.

ਜਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੋੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
जिसु मिलिऐ हरि विसरै पिआरे सो मुहि कालै उठि जाइ ॥
Jis mili▫ai har visrai pi▫āre so muhi kālai uṯẖ jā▫e.
Meeting with them, the Lord is forgotten, O Beloved, and you rise and depart with a blackened face.

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਢੋਈ ਨਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
मनमुखि ढोई नह मिलै पिआरे दरगह मिलै सजाइ ॥
Manmukẖ dẖo▫ī nah milai pi▫āre ḏargėh milai sajā▫e.
The self-willed manmukh finds no rest or shelter, O Beloved; in the Court of the Lord, they are punished.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਮੇਲਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤਿਨਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੫॥
जो गुर मेलि सवारिआ पिआरे तिना पूरी पाइ ॥५॥
Jo gur mel savāri▫ā pi▫āre ṯinā pūrī pā▫e. ||5||
Those who meet with the Guru, and reform themselves, O Beloved, their affairs are resolved. ||5||

ਸੰਜਮ ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਇਕ ਨ ਚਲੀ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
संजम सहस सिआणपा पिआरे इक न चली नालि ॥
Sanjam sahas si▫āṇpā pi▫āre ik na cẖalī nāl.
One may have thousands of clever tricks and techniques of austere self-discipline, O Beloved, but not even one of them will go with him.

ਜੋ ਬੇਮੁਖ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੁਲਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਗਾਲਿ ॥
जो बेमुख गोबिंद ते पिआरे तिन कुलि लागै गालि ॥
Jo bemukẖ gobinḏ ṯe pi▫āre ṯin kul lāgai gāl.
Those who turn their backs on the Lord of the Universe, O Beloved, their families are stained with disgrace.

ਹੋਦੀ ਵਸਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਤੀਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕੂੜੁ ਨ ਚਲੀ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
होदी वसतु न जातीआ पिआरे कूड़ु न चली नालि ॥
Hoḏī vasaṯ na jāṯī▫ā pi▫āre kūṛ na cẖalī nāl.
They do not realize that they do have Him, O Beloved; falsehood will not go with them.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਿਲਾਇਓਨੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੬॥
सतिगुरु जिना मिलाइओनु पिआरे साचा नामु समालि ॥६॥
Saṯgur jinā milā▫i▫on pi▫āre sācẖā nām samāl. ||6||
Those who meet with the True Guru, O Beloved, dwell upon the True Name. ||6||

ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ॥
सतु संतोखु गिआनु धिआनु पिआरे जिस नो नदरि करे ॥
Saṯ sanṯokẖ gi▫ān ḏẖi▫ān pi▫āre jis no naḏar kare.
When the Lord casts His Glance of Grace, O Beloved, one is blessed with Truth, contentment, wisdom and meditation.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਰਵੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪੂਰ ਭਰੇ ॥
अनदिनु कीरतनु गुण रवै पिआरे अम्रिति पूर भरे ॥
An▫ḏin kīrṯan guṇ ravai pi▫āre amriṯ pūr bẖare.
Night and day, he sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, O Beloved, totally filled with Ambrosial Nectar.

ਦੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਿਨ ਲੰਘਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰੇ ॥
दुख सागरु तिन लंघिआ पिआरे भवजलु पारि परे ॥
Ḏukẖ sāgar ṯin langẖi▫ā pi▫āre bẖavjal pār pare.
He crosses over the sea of pain, O Beloved, and swims across the terrifying world-ocean.

ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੇਈ ਸਦਾ ਖਰੇ ॥੭॥
जिसु भावै तिसु मेलि लैहि पिआरे सेई सदा खरे ॥७॥
Jis bẖāvai ṯis mel laihi pi▫āre se▫ī saḏā kẖare. ||7||
One who is pleasing to His Will, He unites with Himself, O Beloved; he is forever true. ||7||

ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਦੇਉ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਭਗਤਾ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥
सम्रथ पुरखु दइआल देउ पिआरे भगता तिस का ताणु ॥
Samrath purakẖ ḏa▫i▫āl ḏe▫o pi▫āre bẖagṯā ṯis kā ṯāṇ.
The all-powerful Divine Lord is compassionate, O Beloved; He is the Support of His devotees.

ਤਿਸੁ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਢਹਿ ਪਏ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਾਣੁ ॥
तिसु सरणाई ढहि पए पिआरे जि अंतरजामी जाणु ॥
Ŧis sarṇā▫ī dẖėh pa▫e pi▫āre jė anṯarjāmī jāṇ.
I seek His Sanctuary, O Beloved; He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.

ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਸਚੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥
हलतु पलतु सवारिआ पिआरे मसतकि सचु नीसाणु ॥
Halaṯ palaṯ savāri▫ā pi▫āre masṯak sacẖ nīsāṇ.
He has adorned me in this world and the next, O Beloved; He has placed the Emblem of Truth upon my forehead.

ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੮॥੨॥
सो प्रभु कदे न वीसरै पिआरे नानक सद कुरबाणु ॥८॥२॥
So parabẖ kaḏe na vīsrai pi▫āre Nānak saḏ kurbāṇ. ||8||2||
I shall never forget that God, O Beloved; Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||8||2||

सोरठि महला ५ घरु २ असटपदीआ
Soraṯẖ mėhlā 5 gẖar 2 asatpaḏī▫ā
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehl, Second House, Ashtapadees:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਪਾਠੁ ਪੜਿਓ ਅਰੁ ਬੇਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਨਿਵਲਿ ਭੁਅੰਗਮ ਸਾਧੇ ॥
पाठु पड़िओ अरु बेदु बीचारिओ निवलि भुअंगम साधे ॥
Pāṯẖ paṛi▫o ar beḏ bīcẖāri▫o nival bẖu▫angam sāḏẖe.
They read scriptures, and contemplate the Vedas; they practice the inner cleansing techniques of Yoga, and control of the breath.

ਪੰਚ ਜਨਾ ਸਿਉ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਛੁਟਕਿਓ ਅਧਿਕ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਬਾਧੇ ॥੧॥
पंच जना सिउ संगु न छुटकिओ अधिक अह्मबुधि बाधे ॥१॥
Pancẖ janā si▫o sang na cẖẖutki▫o aḏẖik ahaʼn▫buḏẖ bāḏẖe. ||1||
But they cannot escape from the company of the five passions; they are increasingly bound to egotism. ||1||

ਪਿਆਰੇ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਮੈ ਕੀਏ ਕਰਮ ਅਨੇਕਾ ॥
पिआरे इन बिधि मिलणु न जाई मै कीए करम अनेका ॥
Pi▫āre in biḏẖ milaṇ na jā▫ī mai kī▫e karam anekā.
O Beloved, this is not the way to meet the Lord; I have performed these rituals so many times.

ਹਾਰਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੈ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਦੀਜੈ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਬੇਕਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हारि परिओ सुआमी कै दुआरै दीजै बुधि बिबेका ॥ रहाउ ॥
Hār pari▫o su▫āmī kai ḏu▫ārai ḏījai buḏẖ bibekā. Rahā▫o.
I have collapsed, exhausted, at the Door of my Lord Master; I pray that He may grant me a discerning intellect. ||Pause||

ਮੋਨਿ ਭਇਓ ਕਰਪਾਤੀ ਰਹਿਓ ਨਗਨ ਫਿਰਿਓ ਬਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
मोनि भइओ करपाती रहिओ नगन फिरिओ बन माही ॥
Mon bẖa▫i▫o karpāṯī rahi▫o nagan firi▫o ban māhī.
One may remain silent and use his hands as begging bowls, and wander naked in the forest.

ਤਟ ਤੀਰਥ ਸਭ ਧਰਤੀ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਓ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਛੁਟਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
तट तीरथ सभ धरती भ्रमिओ दुबिधा छुटकै नाही ॥२॥
Ŧat ṯirath sabẖ ḏẖarṯī bẖarmi▫o ḏubiḏẖā cẖẖutkai nāhī. ||2||
He may make pilgrimages to river banks and sacred shrines all over the world, but his sense of duality will not leave him. ||2||
