ਗੁਰੁ ਅੰਕਸੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਚੂਕਾ ਭੇਖੁ ॥੭॥
गुरु अंकसु जिनि नामु द्रिड़ाइआ भाई मनि वसिआ चूका भेखु ॥७॥
Gur ankas jin nām driṛ▫ā▫i▫ā bẖā▫ī man vasi▫ā cẖūkā bẖekẖ. ||7||
He, who by Guru's goad fixes the name within him, is freed from hypocrisy and God abides in his mind.

ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਾਟੁ ਸਰਾਫ ਕੋ ਭਾਈ ਵਖਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
इहु तनु हाटु सराफ को भाई वखरु नामु अपारु ॥
Ih ṯan hāt sarāf ko bẖā▫ī vakẖar nām apār.
This body is the jeweler's shop and the unrivalled Name is the Stock therein, O brother.

ਇਹੁ ਵਖਰੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਸੋ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੈ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
इहु वखरु वापारी सो द्रिड़ै भाई गुर सबदि करे वीचारु ॥
Ih vakẖar vāpārī so ḏariṛai bẖā▫ī gur sabaḏ kare vīcẖār.
The merchant who deliberates over the Guru's instruction, O brother, he securely secures this merchandise.

ਧਨੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭਾਈ ਮੇਲਿ ਕਰੇ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ॥੮॥੨॥
धनु वापारी नानका भाई मेलि करे वापारु ॥८॥२॥
Ḏẖan vāpārī nānkā bẖā▫ī mel kare vāpār. ||8||2||
Nanak, blessed is the trader, who on meeting the Guru, engages in this trade.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਤਰੇ ॥
जिन्ही सतिगुरु सेविआ पिआरे तिन्ह के साथ तरे ॥
Jinĥī saṯgur sevi▫ā pi▫āre ṯinĥ ke sāth ṯare.
They, who serve the True Guru, O my dear, their associates too are saved. as well.

ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸਨ ਹਰੇ ॥
तिन्हा ठाक न पाईऐ पिआरे अम्रित रसन हरे ॥
Ŧinĥā ṯẖāk na pā▫ī▫ai pi▫āre amriṯ rasan hare.
None obstructs their entry in the Lord's court, as the God's Nectar Name is on their tongue.

ਬੂਡੇ ਭਾਰੇ ਭੈ ਬਿਨਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤਾਰੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ॥੧॥
बूडे भारे भै बिना पिआरे तारे नदरि करे ॥१॥
Būde bẖāre bẖai binā pi▫āre ṯāre naḏar kare. ||1||
They, who are heavy, without Lord's fear, are drowned but by His grace, He ferries them across O dear.
|
ਭੀ ਤੂਹੈ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਾਲਾਹ ॥
भी तूहै सालाहणा पिआरे भी तेरी सालाह ॥
Bẖī ṯūhai salāhṇā pi▫āre bẖī ṯerī sālāh.
My Beloved, I praise Thee ever, and in every case sing I Thine eulogies.

ਵਿਣੁ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਭੈ ਡੁਬੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕੰਧੀ ਪਾਇ ਕਹਾਹ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
विणु बोहिथ भै डुबीऐ पिआरे कंधी पाइ कहाह ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
viṇ bohith bẖai dubī▫ai pi▫āre kanḏẖī pā▫e kahāh. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Without the ship, the man is drowned in the sea of fear, O Beloved, How can he get at the yonder shore? Pause.
|
ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
सालाही सालाहणा पिआरे दूजा अवरु न कोइ ॥
Sālāhī salāhṇā pi▫āre ḏūjā avar na ko▫e.
I praise the praise-worthy Lord, O dear and there is not any other worthy of praise.

ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਲਾਹਨਿ ਸੇ ਭਲੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਰੰਗੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
मेरे प्रभ सालाहनि से भले पिआरे सबदि रते रंगु होइ ॥
Mere parabẖ sālāhan se bẖale pi▫āre sabaḏ raṯe rang ho▫e.
Sublime are they, who eulogise my Lord, O dear, They are imbued with the Name and blessed with the Lord's love.

ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਸੁ ਲੈ ਤਤੁ ਵਿਲੋਇ ॥੨॥
तिस की संगति जे मिलै पिआरे रसु लै ततु विलोइ ॥२॥
Ŧis kī sangaṯ je milai pi▫āre ras lai ṯaṯ vilo▫e. ||2||
If I meet with their society, O dear, I would gather bliss by (pondering over) or (churning) the reality.
|
ਪਤਿ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ਸਾਚ ਕਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥
पति परवाना साच का पिआरे नामु सचा नीसाणु ॥
Paṯ parvānā sācẖ kā pi▫āre nām sacẖā nīsāṇ.
The gate-pass to honour is of Truth and on it is the stamp of the True Name, O dear.

ਆਇਆ ਲਿਖਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਵਣਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥
आइआ लिखि लै जावणा पिआरे हुकमी हुकमु पछाणु ॥
Ā▫i▫ā likẖ lai jāvṇā pi▫āre hukmī hukam pacẖẖāṇ.
Coming into this world, one should depart with such written gate pass O dear. Realise thou, O man, the command of the Commanding Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਬੂਝੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
गुर बिनु हुकमु न बूझीऐ पिआरे साचे साचा ताणु ॥३॥
Gur bin hukam na būjẖī▫ai pi▫āre sācẖe sācẖā ṯāṇ. ||3||
Without the Guru, Lord's order is not understood, O dear, True is the might of the True Lord.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਿੰਮਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਉਦਰ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥
हुकमै अंदरि निमिआ पिआरे हुकमै उदर मझारि ॥
Hukmai anḏar nimmi▫ā pi▫āre hukmai uḏar majẖār.
In Lord's will, the mortal is conceived, O dear and in Lord's will, he thrives in the womb.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਊਧਉ ਸਿਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਰਿ ॥
हुकमै अंदरि जमिआ पिआरे ऊधउ सिर कै भारि ॥
Hukmai anḏar jammi▫ā pi▫āre ūḏẖa▫o sir kai bẖār.
In Lord's will is he born, O dear, upturned with head down wards.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਚਲੈ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰਿ ॥੪॥
गुरमुखि दरगह जाणीऐ पिआरे चलै कारज सारि ॥४॥
Gurmukẖ ḏargėh jāṇī▫ai pi▫āre cẖalai kāraj sār. ||4||
The Guru-ward is honoured in the Lord's court and he departs after arranging his affair.
|
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਆਇਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਜਾਦੋ ਜਾਇ ॥
हुकमै अंदरि आइआ पिआरे हुकमे जादो जाइ ॥
Hukmai anḏar ā▫i▫ā pi▫āre hukme jāḏo jā▫e.
Under Lord's flat, man comes into the world, and under his flat he goes to the next place.
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਚਲਾਈਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਲਹੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
हुकमे बंन्हि चलाईऐ पिआरे मनमुखि लहै सजाइ ॥
Hukme banėh cẖalā▫ī▫ai pi▫āre manmukẖ lahai sajā▫e.
By Lord's will, is he bound down and despatched, O dear, The perverse person suffers punishment.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੫॥
हुकमे सबदि पछाणीऐ पिआरे दरगह पैधा जाइ ॥५॥
Hukme sabaḏ pacẖẖāṇī▫ai pi▫āre ḏargėh paiḏẖā jā▫e. ||5||
By Lord's will the Name is realised, O dear, and man goes to His court adorned in the robe of honour.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਗਣਤ ਗਣਾਈਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੋਇ ॥
हुकमे गणत गणाईऐ पिआरे हुकमे हउमै दोइ ॥
Hukme gaṇaṯ gaṇā▫ī▫ai pi▫āre hukme ha▫umai ḏo▫e.
In His will, one enters into accounts, O dear, and in His will, he is infested with ego and duality.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਭਵੈ ਭਵਾਈਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਅਵਗਣਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਰੋਇ ॥
हुकमे भवै भवाईऐ पिआरे अवगणि मुठी रोइ ॥
Hukme bẖavai bẖavā▫ī▫ai pi▫āre avgaṇ muṯẖī ro▫e.
Goaded by Lord's will, the mortal wanders about and beguiled by demerits, he bewails, O dear.

ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸਿਞਾਪੈ ਸਾਹ ਕਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੋਇ ॥੬॥
हुकमु सिञापै साह का पिआरे सचु मिलै वडिआई होइ ॥६॥
Hukam siñāpai sāh kā pi▫āre sacẖ milai vadi▫ā▫ī ho▫e. ||6||
If man realises the wealthy Lord's will, he is blessed with truth, and receives honour, O dear.
|
ਆਖਣਿ ਅਉਖਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਉ ॥
आखणि अउखा आखीऐ पिआरे किउ सुणीऐ सचु नाउ ॥
Ākẖaṇ a▫ukẖā ākẖī▫ai pi▫āre ki▫o suṇī▫ai sacẖ nā▫o.
Difficult it is to utter the Name. How can we, then utter and hear the True Name?

ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਸੋ ਸਾਲਾਹਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
जिन्ही सो सालाहिआ पिआरे हउ तिन्ह बलिहारै जाउ ॥
Jinĥī so salāhi▫ā pi▫āre ha▫o ṯinĥ balihārai jā▫o.
They who praise that Lord, O dear, unto them I am a sacrifice.

ਨਾਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆਂ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਦਰੀ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਉ ॥੭॥
नाउ मिलै संतोखीआं पिआरे नदरी मेलि मिलाउ ॥७॥
Nā▫o milai sanṯokẖī▫āʼn pi▫āre naḏrī mel milā▫o. ||7||
Obtaining the Lord's Name I am satiated, O dear, and by God's grace, I am united in His union.

ਕਾਇਆ ਕਾਗਦੁ ਜੇ ਥੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਨੁ ਮਸਵਾਣੀ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
काइआ कागदु जे थीऐ पिआरे मनु मसवाणी धारि ॥
Kā▫i▫ā kāgaḏ je thī▫ai pi▫āre man masvāṇī ḏẖār.
My dear, if my body becomes the paper and if my mind be an inkpot,
|
ਲਲਤਾ ਲੇਖਣਿ ਸਚ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਲਿਖਹੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
ललता लेखणि सच की पिआरे हरि गुण लिखहु वीचारि ॥
Lalṯā lekẖaṇ sacẖ kī pi▫āre har guṇ likẖahu vīcẖār.
and if my tongue be the pen, then I would thoughtfully write the excellences of the True God.

ਧਨੁ ਲੇਖਾਰੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਾਚੁ ਲਿਖੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੮॥੩॥
धनु लेखारी नानका पिआरे साचु लिखै उरि धारि ॥८॥३॥
Ḏẖan lekẖārī nānkā pi▫āre sācẖ likẖai ur ḏẖār. ||8||3||
Blessed is the scribe, O Nanak, who inscribes and enshrines the True Name in his mind.

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਦੁਤੁਕੀ ॥
सोरठि महला १ पहिला दुतुकी ॥
Soraṯẖ mėhlā 1 pahilā ḏuṯukī.
Sorath 1st Guru Dutuki.

ਤੂ ਗੁਣਦਾਤੌ ਨਿਰਮਲੋ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
तू गुणदातौ निरमलो भाई निरमलु ना मनु होइ ॥
Ŧū guṇḏāṯou nirmalo bẖā▫ī nirmal nā man ho▫e.
My immaculate Lord, Thou art the Giver of virtues, but my soul becomes not immaculate O brother.

ਹਮ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਨਿਰਗੁਣੇ ਭਾਈ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਗੁਣੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
हम अपराधी निरगुणे भाई तुझ ही ते गुणु सोइ ॥१॥
Ham aprāḏẖī nirguṇe bẖā▫ī ṯujẖ hī ṯe guṇ so▫e. ||1||
I am a sinner and meritless and from Thee alone can those merits be obtained, O Lord.
|
ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾ ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੁ ॥
मेरे प्रीतमा तू करता करि वेखु ॥
Mere parīṯamā ṯū karṯā kar vekẖ.
My Beloved Creator, having created Thine creation, Thou beholdest it.

ਹਉ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਾਖੰਡੀਆ ਭਾਈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਸੇਖੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हउ पापी पाखंडीआ भाई मनि तनि नाम विसेखु ॥ रहाउ ॥
Ha▫o pāpī pākẖandī▫ā bẖā▫ī man ṯan nām visekẖ. Rahā▫o.
I am a sinner and an hypocrite. Install within my mind and body Thine sublime Name, O Lord. Pause.
