ਜਿਹ ਜਨ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇ ਸੁਖੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣੇ ॥
जिह जन ओट गही प्रभ तेरी से सुखीए प्रभ सरणे ॥
Jih jan ot gahī parabẖ ṯerī se sukẖī▫e parabẖ sarṇe.
The persons, who hold fast to thy protection, O Lord Master, they are happy in Thine sanctuary.

ਜਿਹ ਨਰ ਬਿਸਰਿਆ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਤੇ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਮਹਿ ਗਨਣੇ ॥੨॥
जिह नर बिसरिआ पुरखु बिधाता ते दुखीआ महि गनणे ॥२॥
Jih nar bisri▫ā purakẖ biḏẖāṯā ṯe ḏukẖī▫ā mėh ganṇe. ||2||
The men, who forget Lord, the Creator, they are counted amongst the miserable ones.

ਜਿਹ ਗੁਰ ਮਾਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਤਿਹ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਰਸੁ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
जिह गुर मानि प्रभू लिव लाई तिह महा अनंद रसु करिआ ॥
Jih gur mān parabẖū liv lā▫ī ṯih mahā anand ras kari▫ā.
He, who having faith in the Guru, bears love to the Lord, he enjoys the relish of supreme bliss.

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਬੇਮੁਖਾਈ ਤੇ ਨਰਕ ਘੋਰ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਿਆ ॥੩॥
जिह प्रभू बिसारि गुर ते बेमुखाई ते नरक घोर महि परिआ ॥३॥
Jih parabẖū bisār gur ṯe bemukẖā▫ī ṯe narak gẖor mėh pari▫ā. ||3||
He who having forgotten the Lord forsakes the Guru, he falls in the terrible hell.

ਜਿਤੁ ਕੋ ਲਾਇਆ ਤਿਤ ਹੀ ਲਾਗਾ ਤੈਸੋ ਹੀ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ॥
जितु को लाइआ तित ही लागा तैसो ही वरतारा ॥
Jiṯ ko lā▫i▫ā ṯiṯ hī lāgā ṯaiso hī varṯārā.
As the Lord engages any man, so is he engaged and then is he cast accordingly.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹ ਪਕਰੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਰਿਦੈ ਭਏ ਮਗਨ ਚਰਨਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੫॥
नानक सह पकरी संतन की रिदै भए मगन चरनारा ॥४॥४॥१५॥
Nānak sah pakrī sanṯan kī riḏai bẖa▫e magan cẖarnārā. ||4||4||15||
Nanak has grasped the refuge of the saints, and his heart is absorbed in the Lord's feet.

ਰਾਜਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਉਰਝਾਇਓ ਮਾਨਨ ਮਹਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ॥
राजन महि राजा उरझाइओ मानन महि अभिमानी ॥
Rājan mėh rājā urjẖā▫i▫o mānan mėh abẖimānī.
As the King is entangled in the state's affairs, an egotist is engaged in his ego,

ਲੋਭਨ ਮਹਿ ਲੋਭੀ ਲੋਭਾਇਓ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਚੇ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥੧॥
लोभन महि लोभी लोभाइओ तिउ हरि रंगि रचे गिआनी ॥१॥
Lobẖan mėh lobẖī lobẖā▫i▫o ṯi▫o har rang racẖe gi▫ānī. ||1||
and the greedy man in lured into avarice, so is the enlightened absorbed in the Lord's love.

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਇਹੀ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ॥
हरि जन कउ इही सुहावै ॥
Har jan ka▫o ihī suhāvai.
This is what becomes the Lord's slave.
|
ਪੇਖਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨਿ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵੈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
पेखि निकटि करि सेवा सतिगुर हरि कीरतनि ही त्रिपतावै ॥ रहाउ ॥
Pekẖ nikat kar sevā saṯgur har kīrṯan hī ṯaripṯāvai. Rahā▫o.
Seeing the Lord near, he serves the True Guru, and with the Lord's praise, is He sated. Pause.

ਅਮਲਨ ਸਿਉ ਅਮਲੀ ਲਪਟਾਇਓ ਭੂਮਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
अमलन सिउ अमली लपटाइओ भूमन भूमि पिआरी ॥
Amlan si▫o amlī laptā▫i▫o bẖūman bẖūm pi▫ārī.
An addict is attached to the intoxicants and to a landlord, the land is dear.

ਖੀਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਾਰਿਕੁ ਹੈ ਲੀਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਤ ਐਸੇ ਹਿਤਕਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
खीर संगि बारिकु है लीना प्रभ संत ऐसे हितकारी ॥२॥
Kẖīr sang bārik hai līnā parabẖ sanṯ aise hiṯkārī. ||2||
As with the milk, the baby is attached, so is the saint, the lover of the Lord.

ਬਿਦਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਦੁਅੰਸੀ ਰਚਿਆ ਨੈਨ ਦੇਖਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
बिदिआ महि बिदुअंसी रचिआ नैन देखि सुखु पावहि ॥
Biḏi▫ā mėh biḏu▫ansī racẖi▫ā nain ḏekẖ sukẖ pāvahi.
In learning the man of learning is absorbed and the eyes are rejoiced to see.

ਜੈਸੇ ਰਸਨਾ ਸਾਦਿ ਲੁਭਾਨੀ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ॥੩॥
जैसे रसना सादि लुभानी तिउ हरि जन हरि गुण गावहि ॥३॥
Jaise rasnā sāḏ lubẖānī ṯi▫o har jan har guṇ gāvahi. ||3||
As the tongue relishes the taste, so does the man of God sing the Lord's praise.

ਜੈਸੀ ਭੂਖ ਤੈਸੀ ਕਾ ਪੂਰਕੁ ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
जैसी भूख तैसी का पूरकु सगल घटा का सुआमी ॥
Jaisī bẖūkẖ ṯaisī kā pūrak sagal gẖatā kā su▫āmī.
As is the hunger, so is He the fulfiller. he is the master of all the hearts.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਆਸ ਲਗੀ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੬॥
नानक पिआस लगी दरसन की प्रभु मिलिआ अंतरजामी ॥४॥५॥१६॥
Nānak pi▫ās lagī ḏarsan kī parabẖ mili▫ā anṯarjāmī. ||4||5||16||
Nanak, thirsts for the glimpse of the Lord, and him has met the master, the Inner-Knower.

ਹਮ ਮੈਲੇ ਤੁਮ ਊਜਲ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਮ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਤੂ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
हम मैले तुम ऊजल करते हम निरगुन तू दाता ॥
Ham maile ṯum ūjal karṯe ham nirgun ṯū ḏāṯā.
We are soiled, Thou O Creator art Immaculate, we are virtueless and thou art our Donor.

ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਤੁਮ ਚਤੁਰ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਤੂ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਕਾ ਗਿਆਤਾ ॥੧॥
हम मूरख तुम चतुर सिआणे तू सरब कला का गिआता ॥१॥
Ham mūrakẖ ṯum cẖaṯur si▫āṇe ṯū sarab kalā kā gi▫āṯā. ||1||
We are ignorant and thou art intelligent and wise, Thou art the knower of all the arts.
|
ਮਾਧੋ ਹਮ ਐਸੇ ਤੂ ਐਸਾ ॥
माधो हम ऐसे तू ऐसा ॥
Māḏẖo ham aise ṯū aisā.
O Lord of wealth, such are we and such art Thou.
|
ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਤੁਮ ਪਾਪ ਖੰਡਨ ਨੀਕੋ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਦੇਸਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हम पापी तुम पाप खंडन नीको ठाकुर देसा ॥ रहाउ ॥
Ham pāpī ṯum pāp kẖandan nīko ṯẖākur ḏesā. Rahā▫o.
We are sinners and Thou the Destroyer of sins, Beauteous is Thine abode, O Lord. Pause.

ਤੁਮ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੇ ਸਾਜਿ ਨਿਵਾਜੇ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਾ ॥
तुम सभ साजे साजि निवाजे जीउ पिंडु दे प्राना ॥
Ŧum sabẖ sāje sāj nivāje jī▫o pind ḏe parānā.
Thou createst all and having created blessest them. Thou givest soul, body and life.
|
ਨਿਰਗੁਨੀਆਰੇ ਗੁਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਤੁਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
निरगुनीआरे गुनु नही कोई तुम दानु देहु मिहरवाना ॥२॥
Nirgunī▫āre gun nahī ko▫ī ṯum ḏān ḏeh miharvānā. ||2||
We are meritless, with no merit What-so-ever; Bless us with the gift of merits, O the Merciful Master.

ਤੁਮ ਕਰਹੁ ਭਲਾ ਹਮ ਭਲੋ ਨ ਜਾਨਹ ਤੁਮ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
तुम करहु भला हम भलो न जानह तुम सदा सदा दइआला ॥
Ŧum karahu bẖalā ham bẖalo na jānah ṯum saḏā saḏā ḏa▫i▫ālā.
Thou doest good to us, but we deem it not good. Ever and ever, Thou art compassionate.

ਤੁਮ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਬਾਲਾ ॥੩॥
तुम सुखदाई पुरख बिधाते तुम राखहु अपुने बाला ॥३॥
Ŧum sukẖ▫ḏā▫ī purakẖ biḏẖāṯe ṯum rākẖo apune bālā. ||3||
Thou, O creator Lord, art the Giver of peace, save Thou, Thine children.

ਤੁਮ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਅਟਲ ਸੁਲਿਤਾਨ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਜਾਚੈ ॥
तुम निधान अटल सुलितान जीअ जंत सभि जाचै ॥
Ŧum niḏẖān atal suliṯān jī▫a janṯ sabẖ jācẖai.
Thou, O Eternal Monarch, art our treasure. All the mortals and other beings beg of Thee.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮ ਇਹੈ ਹਵਾਲਾ ਰਾਖੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਪਾਛੈ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੭॥
कहु नानक हम इहै हवाला राखु संतन कै पाछै ॥४॥६॥१७॥
Kaho Nānak ham ihai havālā rākẖ sanṯan kai pācẖẖai. ||4||6||17||
Says Nanak, "Such indeed is our state, pray, O Lord, keeps us on the Path of the Saints".

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੨ ॥
सोरठि महला ५ घरु २ ॥

ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਨ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਦੇ ਤਹ ਤੁਮ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
मात गरभ महि आपन सिमरनु दे तह तुम राखनहारे ॥
Māṯ garabẖ mėh āpan simran ḏe ṯah ṯum rākẖanhāre.
Blessing with Thine meditation in the mother's womb, Thou O saviour, didst save the mortal there.
|
ਪਾਵਕ ਸਾਗਰ ਅਥਾਹ ਲਹਰਿ ਮਹਿ ਤਾਰਹੁ ਤਾਰਨਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
पावक सागर अथाह लहरि महि तारहु तारनहारे ॥१॥
Pāvak sāgar athāh lahar mėh ṯārahu ṯāranhāre. ||1||
Thou, O saviour now ferry me across the ocean of fire, with countless waves.
|
ਮਾਧੌ ਤੂ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਮੋਰਾ ॥
माधौ तू ठाकुरु सिरि मोरा ॥
Māḏẖou ṯū ṯẖākur sir morā.
O Lord, Thou art the Master over my head.
|
ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ਧੋਰਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ईहा ऊहा तुहारो धोरा ॥ रहाउ ॥
Īhā ūhā ṯuhāro ḏẖorā. Rahā▫o.
Here and hereafter, Thou alone art my support. Pause.

ਕੀਤੇ ਕਉ ਮੇਰੈ ਸੰਮਾਨੈ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
कीते कउ मेरै समानै करणहारु त्रिणु जानै ॥
Kīṯe ka▫o merai sammānai karanhār ṯariṇ jānai.
The created things, the deems like the mountain of Gold and the Creator like a grass blade.
|
ਤੂ ਦਾਤਾ ਮਾਗਨ ਕਉ ਸਗਲੀ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਨੈ ॥੨॥
तू दाता मागन कउ सगली दानु देहि प्रभ भानै ॥२॥
Ŧū ḏāṯā māgan ka▫o saglī ḏān ḏėh parabẖ bẖānai. ||2||
Thou art the munificent Master and all of us are beggars at Thine door and Thou betowest gifts in Thy will.
|
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਖਿਨੈ ਮਹਿ ਅਵਰਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਚਲਤ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥
खिन महि अवरु खिनै महि अवरा अचरज चलत तुमारे ॥
Kẖin mėh avar kẖinai mėh avrā acẖraj cẖalaṯ ṯumāre.
In a moment Thou art one thing and in a moment quite another. Wondrous are Thine ways.

ਰੂੜੋ ਗੂੜੋ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੋ ਊਚੌ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
रूड़ो गूड़ो गहिर ग्मभीरो ऊचौ अगम अपारे ॥३॥
Rūṛo gūṛo gahir gambẖīro ūcẖou agam apāre. ||3||
Beauteous, mysterious, profound, unfathomable, lofty, inaccessible and infinite are Thou, O Lord.
