ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਟੇ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जनम जनम के किलबिख दुख काटे आपे मेलि मिलाई ॥ रहाउ ॥
Janam janam ke kilbikẖ ḏukẖ kāte āpe mel milā▫ī. Rahā▫o.
Their sins and sorrows of myriads of births, the Lord eradicates and unites them in His union. Pause.

ਇਹੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਸਭੁ ਜੀਅ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਭਾਈ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾ ਸੈਂਸਾਰਾ ॥
इहु कुट्मबु सभु जीअ के बंधन भाई भरमि भुला सैंसारा ॥
Ih kutamb sabẖ jī▫a ke banḏẖan bẖā▫ī bẖaram bẖulā saiʼnsārā.
All these kinsmen are like bonds for the soul, O brother, Thee world is gone astray in doubt.

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੂਟਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥
बिनु गुर बंधन टूटहि नाही गुरमुखि मोख दुआरा ॥
Bin gur banḏẖan tūtėh nāhī gurmukẖ mokẖ ḏu▫ārā.
Without the Guru, the bonds are broken not. Through the Guru, the door of emancipation is obtained.

ਕਰਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
करम करहि गुर सबदु न पछाणहि मरि जनमहि वारो वारा ॥२॥
Karam karahi gur sabaḏ na pacẖẖāṇėh mar janmėh vāro vārā. ||2||
He, who performs rituals and knows not Guru's world, dies and is born again and again.

ਹਉ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਗੁ ਪਲਚਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਕੇਰਾ ॥
हउ मेरा जगु पलचि रहिआ भाई कोइ न किस ही केरा ॥
Ha▫o merā jag palacẖ rahi▫ā bẖā▫ī ko▫e na kis hī kerā.
In egotism and egoism the world is entangled but no one belongs to another, O brother.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥
गुरमुखि महलु पाइनि गुण गावनि निज घरि होइ बसेरा ॥
Gurmukẖ mahal pā▫in guṇ gāvan nij gẖar ho▫e baserā.
The holy sing God's praise, attain His presence and secure an abode in their himself here.

ਐਥੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੁ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੇਰਾ ॥੩॥
ऐथै बूझै सु आपु पछाणै हरि प्रभु है तिसु केरा ॥३॥
Aithai būjẖai so āp pacẖẖāṇai har parabẖ hai ṯis kerā. ||3||
Realises his ownself and to him, belongs the Lord Master.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਵਿਣੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਕਿਆ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
सतिगुरू सदा दइआलु है भाई विणु भागा किआ पाईऐ ॥
Saṯgurū saḏā ḏa▫i▫āl hai bẖā▫ī viṇ bẖāgā ki▫ā pā▫ī▫ai.
The True Guru is ever merciful, O brother, but without destiny what can one attain?

ਏਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਜੇਹਾ ਭਾਉ ਤੇਹਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
एक नदरि करि वेखै सभ ऊपरि जेहा भाउ तेहा फलु पाईऐ ॥
Ėk naḏar kar vekẖai sabẖ ūpar jehā bẖā▫o ṯehā fal pā▫ī▫ai.
He looks with his eye of grace on all alike, but as is one's love for Him, so is the fruit he obtains.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥੪॥੬॥
नानक नामु वसै मन अंतरि विचहु आपु गवाईऐ ॥४॥६॥
Nānak nām vasai man anṯar vicẖahu āp gavā▫ī▫ai. ||4||6||
Nanak, when the name takes and abode in man's mind, from within him, his self-conceit is eradicated.

ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਚੀ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
सची भगति सतिगुर ते होवै सची हिरदै बाणी ॥
Sacẖī bẖagaṯ saṯgur ṯe hovai sacẖī hirḏai baṇī.
True worship is obtained through the True Guru and then, the True Gurbani abides in man's mind.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवे सदा सुखु पाए हउमै सबदि समाणी ॥
Saṯgur seve saḏā sukẖ pā▫e ha▫umai sabaḏ samāṇī.
He who serves the True Guru gathers eternal peace and his ego is obliterated through the Name.

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਹੋਰ ਭੂਲੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਇਆਣੀ ॥
बिनु गुर साचे भगति न होवी होर भूली फिरै इआणी ॥
Bin gur sācẖe bẖagaṯ na hovī hor bẖūlī firai i▫āṇī.
Without the True Guru, there can be no devotional service and without it the world is gone astray in ignorance.

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਡੂਬਿ ਮੁਏ ਵਿਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ॥੧॥
मनमुखि फिरहि सदा दुखु पावहि डूबि मुए विणु पाणी ॥१॥
Manmukẖ firėh saḏā ḏukẖ pāvahi dūb mu▫e viṇ pāṇī. ||1||
The self-willed roam about aimlessly. They ever suffer pain and are drowned to death without water.

ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਹੁ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
भाई रे सदा रहहु सरणाई ॥
Bẖā▫ī re saḏā rahhu sarṇā▫ī.
O brother, ever remain thou under the Lord's protection.

ਆਪਣੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਪਤਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
आपणी नदरि करे पति राखै हरि नामो दे वडिआई ॥ रहाउ ॥
Āpṇī naḏar kare paṯ rākẖai har nāmo ḏe vadi▫ā▫ī. Rahā▫o.
Showering His benediction, the Lord saves the mortal's honour and blesses him with the glory of His Name. Pause.

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
पूरे गुर ते आपु पछाता सबदि सचै वीचारा ॥
Pūre gur ṯe āp pacẖẖāṯā sabaḏ sacẖai vīcẖārā.
By pondering over the True Name, through the Perfect Guru, man comes to understand his-own-self.

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਸਦ ਵਸਿਆ ਤਜਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
हिरदै जगजीवनु सद वसिआ तजि कामु क्रोधु अहंकारा ॥
Hirḏai jagjīvan saḏ vasi▫ā ṯaj kām kroḏẖ ahaʼnkārā.
He forsakes lust, wrath and pride and God, the Life of the world, ever abides in his mind.

ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
सदा हजूरि रविआ सभ ठाई हिरदै नामु अपारा ॥
Saḏā hajūr ravi▫ā sabẖ ṯẖā▫ī hirḏai nām apārā.
Within him mind, he enshrine the Name of the Infinite Lord, who is ever present and is contained in all the places.

ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੀ ਨਾਉ ਮੀਠਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥੨॥
जुगि जुगि बाणी सबदि पछाणी नाउ मीठा मनहि पिआरा ॥२॥
Jug jug baṇī sabaḏ pacẖẖāṇī nā▫o mīṯẖā manėh pi▫ārā. ||2||
In all the ages, it is through the Divine word, that the Lord is recognised and the Name becomes sweet and dear unto the mind.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਜਗਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवि जिनि नामु पछाता सफल जनमु जगि आइआ ॥
Saṯgur sev jin nām pacẖẖāṯā safal janam jag ā▫i▫ā.
Fruitful is the birth and advent in this world of him, who by serving the True Guru, realises the Name.

ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਣੀ ਅਘਾਇਆ ॥
हरि रसु चाखि सदा मनु त्रिपतिआ गुण गावै गुणी अघाइआ ॥
Har ras cẖākẖ saḏā man ṯaripṯi▫ā guṇ gāvai guṇī agẖā▫i▫ā.
Tasting God's elixir, his soul is sated for aye, and singing the praise of the praise-worthy Lord, he remains content.

ਕਮਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਿ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਜਾਇਆ ॥
कमलु प्रगासि सदा रंगि राता अनहद सबदु वजाइआ ॥
Kamal pargās saḏā rang rāṯā anhaḏ sabaḏ vajā▫i▫ā.
His heart lotus blossoms, with Lord's love, he is ever imbued with joy and within him resounds the celestial strain.

ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
तनु मनु निरमलु निरमल बाणी सचे सचि समाइआ ॥३॥
Ŧan man nirmal nirmal baṇī sacẖe sacẖ samā▫i▫ā. ||3||
Immaculate become his body and mind and immaculate his speech and he merges in the Truest of the true.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
राम नाम की गति कोइ न बूझै गुरमति रिदै समाई ॥
Rām nām kī gaṯ ko▫e na būjẖai gurmaṯ riḏai samā▫ī.
None knows the essence of the Lord's Name. By Guru's instruction it is revealed to one's mind.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਮਗੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਈ ॥
गुरमुखि होवै सु मगु पछाणै हरि रसि रसन रसाई ॥
Gurmukẖ hovai so mag pacẖẖāṇai har ras rasan rasā▫ī.
He, who gets resigned to Guru's will, knows the way and his tongue tastes the Lord's Nectar.

ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
जपु तपु संजमु सभु गुर ते होवै हिरदै नामु वसाई ॥
Jap ṯap sanjam sabẖ gur ṯe hovai hirḏai nām vasā▫ī.
Meditation, austerity and self-restraint are all obtained from the Guru and the Guru enshrines the Name in the mind.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਨਿ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥੭॥
नानक नामु समालहि से जन सोहनि दरि साचै पति पाई ॥४॥७॥
Nānak nām samālėh se jan sohan ḏar sācẖai paṯ pā▫ī. ||4||7||
Nanak, the persons, who remember the Name look beauteous and obtain honour in the True court.

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਃ ੩ ਦੁਤੁਕੇ ॥
सोरठि मः ३ दुतुके ॥

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਉਲਟੀ ਭਈ ਭਾਈ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਬੂਝ ਪਾਇ ॥
सतिगुर मिलिऐ उलटी भई भाई जीवत मरै ता बूझ पाइ ॥
Saṯgur mili▫ai ultī bẖa▫ī bẖā▫ī jīvaṯ marai ṯā būjẖ pā▫e.
Meeting the True Guru, man turns, away from the world. O brother, when he remains dead in life, then does he obtain understanding.

ਸੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੋ ਸਿਖੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਸੁ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
सो गुरू सो सिखु है भाई जिसु जोती जोति मिलाइ ॥१॥
So gurū so sikẖ hai bẖā▫ī jis joṯī joṯ milā▫e. ||1||
He alone is the Guru and he alone the disciple, whose light the Lord merges in His supreme light, O brother.

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
मन रे हरि हरि सेती लिव लाइ ॥
Man re har har seṯī liv lā▫e.
O my soul, embrace thou love with the Lord God.

ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਥਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
मन हरि जपि मीठा लागै भाई गुरमुखि पाए हरि थाइ ॥ रहाउ ॥
Man har jap mīṯẖā lāgai bẖā▫ī gurmukẖ pā▫e har thā▫e. Rahā▫o.
By meditation, God seems sweet to the mind, O brother. the Guru-wards, obtain place in the Lord's court. Pause.
