Sorath 3rd Guru.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹੈ ਸਾਸਾ ॥
हरि जीउ तुधु नो सदा सालाही पिआरे जिचरु घट अंतरि है सासा ॥
Har jī▫o ṯuḏẖ no saḏā sālāhī pi▫āre jicẖar gẖat anṯar hai sāsā.
My loved Lord, I praise Thee, ever, as long as I have breath in my body.

ਇਕੁ ਪਲੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਵਿਸਰਹਿ ਤੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਾਣਉ ਬਰਸ ਪਚਾਸਾ ॥
इकु पलु खिनु विसरहि तू सुआमी जाणउ बरस पचासा ॥
Ik pal kẖin visrahi ṯū su▫āmī jāṇa▫o baras pacẖāsā.
If I forget Thee even for a moment and trice, I deem it to be equal to fifty years, O Lord.

ਹਮ ਮੂੜ ਮੁਗਧ ਸਦਾ ਸੇ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ॥੧॥
हम मूड़ मुगध सदा से भाई गुर कै सबदि प्रगासा ॥१॥
Ham mūṛ mugaḏẖ saḏā se bẖā▫ī gur kai sabaḏ pargāsā. ||1||
I was ever a fool and am idiot, O brother but with Guru's instruction my mind is illumined now.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੁਮ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਹੁ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
हरि जीउ तुम आपे देहु बुझाई ॥
Har jī▫o ṯum āpe ḏeh bujẖā▫ī.
My Reverend Lord, Thou Thyself givest instruction.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हरि जीउ तुधु विटहु वारिआ सद ही तेरे नाम विटहु बलि जाई ॥ रहाउ ॥
Har jī▫o ṯuḏẖ vitahu vāri▫ā saḏ hī ṯere nām vitahu bal jā▫ī. Rahā▫o.
My God, I am ever a sacrifice unto Thee and am devoted unto Thy Name. Pause.

ਹਮ ਸਬਦਿ ਮੁਏ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲੇ ਭਾਈ ਸਬਦੇ ਹੀ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
हम सबदि मुए सबदि मारि जीवाले भाई सबदे ही मुकति पाई ॥
Ham sabaḏ mu▫e sabaḏ mār jīvāle bẖā▫ī sabḏe hī mukaṯ pā▫ī.
O brother, through the Name, I have died and being dead, I am reborn through the Name, and through the Name, I am emancipated.

ਸਬਦੇ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
सबदे मनु तनु निरमलु होआ हरि वसिआ मनि आई ॥
Sabḏe man ṯan nirmal ho▫ā har vasi▫ā man ā▫ī.
With the Name, my soul and body are rendered pure and God has come to abide in my mind.

ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰ ਦਾਤਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੨॥
सबदु गुर दाता जितु मनु राता हरि सिउ रहिआ समाई ॥२॥
Sabaḏ gur ḏāṯā jiṯ man rāṯā har si▫o rahi▫ā samā▫ī. ||2||
The Guru is the giver of the Name, wherewith my mind is imbued, and I remain absorbed in the Lord.

ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸੇ ਅੰਨੇ ਬੋਲੇ ਸੇ ਕਿਤੁ ਆਏ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
सबदु न जाणहि से अंने बोले से कितु आए संसारा ॥
Sabaḏ na jāṇėh se anne bole se kiṯ ā▫e sansārā.
Blind and deaf are they, who know not the Name What for did they come in the world?
|
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰਾ ॥
हरि रसु न पाइआ बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ जमहि वारो वारा ॥
Har ras na pā▫i▫ā birthā janam gavā▫i▫ā jamėh vāro vārā.
They attain not God's elixir, waste their life in vain and are born again and over again.
|
ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕੇ ਕੀੜੇ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
बिसटा के कीड़े बिसटा माहि समाणे मनमुख मुगध गुबारा ॥३॥
Bistā ke kīṛe bistā māhi samāṇe manmukẖ mugaḏẖ gubārā. ||3||
The foolish and idiotic infidels are the worms of ordure and in ordure putrefy they.
|
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਲਾਏ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
आपे करि वेखै मारगि लाए भाई तिसु बिनु अवरु न कोई ॥
Āpe kar vekẖai mārag lā▫e bẖā▫ī ṯis bin avar na ko▫ī.
The Lord Himself creates, watches and puts on the right path. Without Him there in not another, O brother.

ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਭਾਈ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
जो धुरि लिखिआ सु कोइ न मेटै भाई करता करे सु होई ॥
Jo ḏẖur likẖi▫ā so ko▫e na metai bẖā▫ī karṯā kare so ho▫ī.
None can obliterate that which is pre-ordained, O brother. What the Creator ordains that comes to pass.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭਾਈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ॥੪॥੪॥
नानक नामु वसिआ मन अंतरि भाई अवरु न दूजा कोई ॥४॥४॥
Nānak nām vasi▫ā man anṯar bẖā▫ī avar na ḏūjā ko▫ī. ||4||4||
Nanak, when the Name abides within man's mind, he beholds not any other.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੇ ॥
गुरमुखि भगति करहि प्रभ भावहि अनदिनु नामु वखाणे ॥
Gurmukẖ bẖagaṯ karahi parabẖ bẖāvėh an▫ḏin nām vakẖāṇe.
The pious persons embrace meditation and become pleasing to the Lord. Night and day they repeat the Name.
|
ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਕਰਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ॥
भगता की सार करहि आपि राखहि जो तेरै मनि भाणे ॥
Bẖagṯā kī sār karahi āp rākẖahi jo ṯerai man bẖāṇe.
Thy Thyself, O Lord protectest and takest care of Thine saints, who are pleasing to Thy mind.
|
ਤੂ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਿ ਗੁਣੀ ਸਮਾਣੇ ॥੧॥
तू गुणदाता सबदि पछाता गुण कहि गुणी समाणे ॥१॥
Ŧū guṇḏāṯā sabaḏ pacẖẖāṯā guṇ kahi guṇī samāṇe. ||1||
Thou art the Giver of merits and art recognised through the Name. Uttering Thy praise the mortals merge in Thee, O Virtuous Lord.
|
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
मन मेरे हरि जीउ सदा समालि ॥
Man mere har jī▫o saḏā samāl.
My soul, ever remember, thou, the praise worthy God.
|
ਅੰਤ ਕਾਲਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਬੇਲੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अंत कालि तेरा बेली होवै सदा निबहै तेरै नालि ॥ रहाउ ॥
Anṯ kāl ṯerā belī hovai saḏā nibhai ṯerai nāl. Rahā▫o.
At the last moment, He shall be thy Friend and shall ever stand by thee. Pause.
|
ਦੁਸਟ ਚਉਕੜੀ ਸਦਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਨਾ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
दुसट चउकड़ी सदा कूड़ु कमावहि ना बूझहि वीचारे ॥
Ḏusat cẖa▫ukaṛī saḏā kūṛ kamāvėh nā būjẖėh vīcẖāre.
The assemblage of the wicked ever practises falsehood and thinks not of the Lord's meditation.
|
ਨਿੰਦਾ ਦੁਸਟੀ ਤੇ ਕਿਨਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਣਾਖਸ ਨਖਹਿ ਬਿਦਾਰੇ ॥
निंदा दुसटी ते किनि फलु पाइआ हरणाखस नखहि बिदारे ॥
Ninḏā ḏustī ṯe kin fal pā▫i▫ā harṇākẖas nakẖėh biḏāre.
From evil slander, who has ever obtained the fruit? Harnakhsh was torn with the nails.
|
ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦੁ ਜਨੁ ਸਦ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਲਏ ਉਬਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
प्रहिलादु जनु सद हरि गुण गावै हरि जीउ लए उबारे ॥२॥
Par▫hilāḏ jan saḏ har guṇ gāvai har jī▫o la▫e ubāre. ||2||
The Lord's slave Prahlad ever sang God's praise and him the Praiseworthy Lord did deliver.
|
ਆਪਸ ਕਉ ਬਹੁ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮਤਿ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥
आपस कउ बहु भला करि जाणहि मनमुखि मति न काई ॥
Āpas ka▫o baho bẖalā kar jāṇėh manmukẖ maṯ na kā▫ī.
The egocentrics deem themselves as very virtuous. They have no understanding what-so-ever.
|
ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਜਾਸਨਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
साधू जन की निंदा विआपे जासनि जनमु गवाई ॥
Sāḏẖū jan kī ninḏā vi▫āpe jāsan janam gavā▫ī.
They indulge in the slander of the saintly persons and, wasting their life, they shall depart.
|
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਦੇ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਏ ਪਛੁਤਾਈ ॥੩॥
राम नामु कदे चेतहि नाही अंति गए पछुताई ॥३॥
Rām nām kaḏe cẖīṯėh nāhī anṯ ga▫e pacẖẖuṯā▫ī. ||3||
They never reflect over the Lord's Name and, in the end, depart repenting.
|
ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਆਪਿ ਲਾਏ ॥
सफलु जनमु भगता का कीता गुर सेवा आपि लाए ॥
Safal janam bẖagṯā kā kīṯā gur sevā āp lā▫e.
The Life of His saints, the Lord makes profitable, and Himself engages them in the Guru's service.
|
ਸਬਦੇ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥
सबदे राते सहजे माते अनदिनु हरि गुण गाए ॥
Sabḏe rāṯe sėhje māṯe an▫ḏin har guṇ gā▫e.
Slave Nanak makes this supplication, "Let me, O Lord, fall at their feet".

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਕਹੈ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਹਉ ਲਾਗਾ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੫॥
नानक दासु कहै बेनंती हउ लागा तिन कै पाए ॥४॥५॥
Nānak ḏās kahai benanṯī ha▫o lāgā ṯin kai pā▫e. ||4||5||

Soraṯẖ mėhlā 3.
Imbued with the name and inebriated with supreme bliss night and day, they sing God's praise.
|
ਸੋ ਸਿਖੁ ਸਖਾ ਬੰਧਪੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
सो सिखु सखा बंधपु है भाई जि गुर के भाणे विचि आवै ॥
So sikẖ sakẖā banḏẖap hai bẖā▫ī jė gur ke bẖāṇe vicẖ āvai.
He alone is the True disciple, friend, kinsman and brother, who walks in the Guru's will.
|
ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਜੋ ਚਲੈ ਭਾਈ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਵੈ ॥
आपणै भाणै जो चलै भाई विछुड़ि चोटा खावै ॥
Āpṇai bẖāṇai jo cẖalai bẖā▫ī vicẖẖuṛ cẖotā kẖāvai.
He who walks according to his own will, O brother is separated from the Lord and bears blows.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੁਖੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਭਾਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੋਤਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
बिनु सतिगुर सुखु कदे न पावै भाई फिरि फिरि पछोतावै ॥१॥
Bin saṯgur sukẖ kaḏe na pāvai bẖā▫ī fir fir pacẖẖoṯāvai. ||1||
Without the True Guru, he never obtains peace, O brother and repents over and over again.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
हरि के दास सुहेले भाई ॥
Har ke ḏās suhele bẖā▫ī.
Happy are the servants of God, O brother.
|
