ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
मनमुख मुगधु हरि नामु न चेतै बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ ॥
Manmukẖ mugaḏẖ har nām na cẖeṯai birthā janam gavā▫i▫ā.
The way-ward fool remembers not the God's Name and wastes his life in vain.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਤਾ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਏ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
सतिगुरु भेटे ता नाउ पाए हउमै मोहु चुकाइआ ॥३॥
Saṯgur bẖete ṯā nā▫o pā▫e ha▫umai moh cẖukā▫i▫ā. ||3||
When he meets with the True Guru, then obtains he the Name and shakes off his pride and worldly attachment.

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
हरि जन साचे साचु कमावहि गुर कै सबदि वीचारी ॥
Har jan sācẖe sācẖ kamāvėh gur kai sabaḏ vīcẖārī.
True are the God's slaves. They practice truth and reflects over the Guru's hymns.

ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
आपे मेलि लए प्रभि साचै साचु रखिआ उर धारी ॥
Āpe mel la▫e parabẖ sācẖai sācẖ rakẖi▫ā ur ḏẖārī.
The True Lord unites them with Himself and they keep the True Lord enshrined in their heart.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਗਤਿ ਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਏਹਾ ਰਾਸਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੧॥
नानक नावहु गति मति पाई एहा रासि हमारी ॥४॥१॥
Nānak nāvhu gaṯ maṯ pā▫ī ehā rās hamārī. ||4||1||
Through the Name, Nanak is blessed with salvation and understanding. This Name alone is my stock-in-trade.

ਭਗਤਿ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਭਗਤਨ ਕਉ ਦੀਆ ਨਾਉ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
भगति खजाना भगतन कउ दीआ नाउ हरि धनु सचु सोइ ॥
Bẖagaṯ kẖajānā bẖagṯan ka▫o ḏī▫ā nā▫o har ḏẖan sacẖ so▫e.
He, the True Lord, has blessed His devotees with the treasure of His devotion and the wealth of God's Name.

ਅਖੁਟੁ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਕਦੇ ਨਿਖੁਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
अखुटु नाम धनु कदे निखुटै नाही किनै न कीमति होइ ॥
Akẖut nām ḏẖan kaḏe nikẖutai nāhī kinai na kīmaṯ ho▫e.
The inexhaustible Name wealth never runs short and none can appraise its worth.

ਨਾਮ ਧਨਿ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
नाम धनि मुख उजले होए हरि पाइआ सचु सोइ ॥१॥
Nām ḏẖan mukẖ ujle ho▫e har pā▫i▫ā sacẖ so▫e. ||1||
With the Name's wealth, effulgent becomes the countenances and the True Lord is attained to.

ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
मन मेरे गुर सबदी हरि पाइआ जाइ ॥
Man mere gur sabḏī har pā▫i▫ā jā▫e.
O my soul, it is by Guru's instruction that man attains to his God.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਜਗੁ ਭੁਲਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
बिनु सबदै जगु भुलदा फिरदा दरगह मिलै सजाइ ॥ रहाउ ॥
Bin sabḏai jag bẖulḏā firḏā ḏargėh milai sajā▫e. Rahā▫o.
Without the Name, the world goes astray and suffers punishment in the Lord's court. Pause.

ਇਸੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪੰਚ ਚੋਰ ਵਸਹਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
इसु देही अंदरि पंच चोर वसहि कामु क्रोधु लोभु मोहु अहंकारा ॥
Is ḏehī anḏar pancẖ cẖor vasėh kām kroḏẖ lobẖ moh ahaʼnkārā.
Within this body dwell the five thieves, lust, wrath, avarice, attachment and pride.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਲੂਟਹਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸੁਣੈ ਪੂਕਾਰਾ ॥
अम्रितु लूटहि मनमुख नही बूझहि कोइ न सुणै पूकारा ॥
Amriṯ lūtėh manmukẖ nahī būjẖėh ko▫e na suṇai pūkārā.
They plunder Nectar. The apostate knows it not and none heart the complaint.

ਅੰਧਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ਬਾਝੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
अंधा जगतु अंधु वरतारा बाझु गुरू गुबारा ॥२॥
Anḏẖā jagaṯ anḏẖ varṯārā bājẖ gurū gubārā. ||2||
Blind is the world and blind its dealing without the Guru there is pitch darkness.
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵਿਗੁਤੇ ਕਿਹੁ ਚਲੈ ਨ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
हउमै मेरा करि करि विगुते किहु चलै न चलदिआ नालि ॥
Ha▫umai merā kar kar viguṯe kihu cẖalai na cẖalḏi▫ā nāl.
Indulging in egotism and egoism, the mortals are ruined and when departing nothing goes with them.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
गुरमुखि होवै सु नामु धिआवै सदा हरि नामु समालि ॥
Gurmukẖ hovai so nām ḏẖi▫āvai saḏā har nām samāl.
One, who gets resigned to the Name and ever thinks of nothing but the Lord's Name.

ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਦਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥੩॥
सची बाणी हरि गुण गावै नदरी नदरि निहालि ॥३॥
Sacẖī baṇī har guṇ gāvai naḏrī naḏar nihāl. ||3||
Through the True Gurbani, he sings God's praises and becomes happy with the graceful glance of the kind Lord.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਅਮਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹਾ ॥
सतिगुर गिआनु सदा घटि चानणु अमरु सिरि बादिसाहा ॥
Saṯgur gi▫ān saḏā gẖat cẖānaṇ amar sir bāḏisāhā.
the wisdom of the True Guru, ever illuminates his heart; the Lord's writ is over the head of the kings even.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਲਾਹਾ ॥
अनदिनु भगति करहि दिनु राती राम नामु सचु लाहा ॥
An▫ḏin bẖagaṯ karahi ḏin rāṯī rām nām sacẖ lāhā.
Night and day, the saints ever perform the Lord's devotional service and reap the True profit of His Name.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਹਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
नानक राम नामि निसतारा सबदि रते हरि पाहा ॥४॥२॥
Nānak rām nām nisṯārā sabaḏ raṯe har pāhā. ||4||2||
Nanak, through the Lord's Name, the mortal is emancipated and being imbued with the Name, he attains to the Lord.

सोरठि मः ३ ॥

ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
दासनि दासु होवै ता हरि पाए विचहु आपु गवाई ॥
Ḏāsan ḏās hovai ṯā har pā▫e vicẖahu āp gavā▫ī.
If man becomes the serf of Lord's serfs, then obtains he the Lord and sheds his ego from within.

ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥
भगता का कारजु हरि अनंदु है अनदिनु हरि गुण गाई ॥
Bẖagṯā kā kāraj har anand hai an▫ḏin har guṇ gā▫ī.
The Lord of bliss is the pursuit of the saints and, night and day, they sings God's praise.

ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ ਰੰਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥
सबदि रते सदा इक रंगी हरि सिउ रहे समाई ॥१॥
Sabaḏ raṯe saḏā ik rangī har si▫o rahe samā▫ī. ||1||
Imbued with the Name, they ever abide alike and remain absorbed in the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਾਚੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
हरि जीउ साची नदरि तुमारी ॥
Har jī▫o sācẖī naḏar ṯumārī.
O my reverend Lord, true is Thine glance of grace.

ਆਪਣਿਆ ਦਾਸਾ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪੈਜ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
आपणिआ दासा नो क्रिपा करि पिआरे राखहु पैज हमारी ॥ रहाउ ॥
Āpṇi▫ā ḏāsā no kirpā kar pi▫āre rākẖo paij hamārī. Rahā▫o.
O Loved Lord, show mercy unto Thine slaves and preserve their honour. Pause.

ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥
सबदि सलाही सदा हउ जीवा गुरमती भउ भागा ॥
Sabaḏ salāhī saḏā ha▫o jīvā gurmaṯī bẖa▫o bẖāgā.
I live by ever praising the Lord and by the Guru's instruction, my dread is dispelled.

ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਅਤਿ ਸੁਆਲਿਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
मेरा प्रभु साचा अति सुआलिउ गुरु सेविआ चितु लागा ॥
Merā parabẖ sācẖā aṯ su▫āli▫o gur sevi▫ā cẖiṯ lāgā.
My True Lord is exceedingly8 beauteous and serving the Guru, my soul is attuned to Him.

ਸਾਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੀ ਸਚੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਾ ॥੨॥
साचा सबदु सची सचु बाणी सो जनु अनदिनु जागा ॥२॥
Sācẖā sabaḏ sacẖī sacẖ baṇī so jan an▫ḏin jāgā. ||2||
The man, who utters the True Name and the very true Gurbani, ever remains wakeful.

ਮਹਾ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
महा ग्मभीरु सदा सुखदाता तिस का अंतु न पाइआ ॥
Mahā gambẖīr saḏā sukẖ▫ḏāṯa ṯis kā anṯ na pā▫i▫ā.
The Lord is very deep and ever peace-giver. His limit no one can find.

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਨੀ ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
पूरे गुर की सेवा कीनी अचिंतु हरि मंनि वसाइआ ॥
Pūre gur kī sevā kīnī acẖinṯ har man vasā▫i▫ā.
Serving the Perfect Guru, one enshrines in one's mind the carefree Lord.

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
मनु तनु निरमलु सदा सुखु अंतरि विचहु भरमु चुकाइआ ॥३॥
Man ṯan nirmal saḏā sukẖ anṯar vicẖahu bẖaram cẖukā▫i▫ā. ||3||
Eradicating doubt from within, man's mind and body become pure and, within his heart, abides the eternal peace.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸਦਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਵਿਖੜਾ ਕੋ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
हरि का मारगु सदा पंथु विखड़ा को पाए गुर वीचारा ॥
Har kā mārag saḏā panth vikẖ▫ṛā ko pā▫e gur vīcẖārā.
God's way is ever a difficult path and only a few find it by meditating on God, through the Guru.

ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਬਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਜੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
हरि कै रंगि राता सबदे माता हउमै तजे विकारा ॥
Har kai rang rāṯā sabḏe māṯā ha▫umai ṯaje vikārā.
Imbued with God's love and inebriated with His Name, the mortal gives up his ego and evil.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤਾ ਇਕ ਰੰਗੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੩॥
नानक नामि रता इक रंगी सबदि सवारणहारा ॥४॥३॥
Nānak nām raṯā ik rangī sabaḏ savāraṇhārā. ||4||3||
Nanak, the Lord beautifies him, who uniformly remains imbued with His Name.
