ਆਖਹਿ ਗੋਪੀ ਤੈ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ॥
आखहि गोपी तै गोविंद ॥
Aakʰahi gopee ṫæ govinḋ.
The milk-maids and Krishna speak of Thee.

ਆਖਹਿ ਈਸਰ ਆਖਹਿ ਸਿਧ ॥
आखहि ईसर आखहि सिध ॥
Aakʰahi eesar aakʰahi siḋʰ.
The Shiva speak of Thee and the miracle-mongers speak of Thee as well.
|
ਆਖਹਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਬੁਧ ॥
आखहि केते कीते बुध ॥
Aakʰahi kéṫé keeṫé buḋʰ.
All the Buddhas, created by Thee, proclaim Thee.
|
ਆਖਹਿ ਦਾਨਵ ਆਖਹਿ ਦੇਵ ॥
आखहि दानव आखहि देव ॥
Aakʰahi ḋaanav aakʰahi ḋév.
The demons proclaim Thee and the gods proclaim Thee.
|
ਆਖਹਿ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵ ॥
आखहि सुरि नर मुनि जन सेव ॥
Aakʰahi sur nar mun jan sév.
The demi-gods the men, the silent persons and the servants speak of Thee.

ਕੇਤੇ ਆਖਹਿ ਆਖਣਿ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
केते आखहि आखणि पाहि ॥
Kéṫé aakʰahi aakʰaṇ paahi.
Good many describe Thee and attempt to describe Thee.
|
ਕੇਤੇ ਕਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਉਠਿ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
केते कहि कहि उठि उठि जाहि ॥
Kéṫé kahi kahi utʰ utʰ jaahi.
Many have repeatedly described Thee and arising and getting ready have departed.
|
ਏਤੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਰਿ ਕਰੇਹਿ ॥
एते कीते होरि करेहि ॥
Éṫé keeṫé hor karéhi.
Were Thou to create as many more as already created,
|
ਤਾ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਸਕਹਿ ਕੇਈ ਕੇਇ ॥
ता आखि न सकहि केई केइ ॥
Ṫaa aakʰ na sakahi ké▫ee ké▫é.
even then they can not describe a few virtues of Thine.
|
ਜੇਵਡੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੇਵਡੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
जेवडु भावै तेवडु होइ ॥
Jévad bʰaavæ ṫévad ho▫é.
The Lord becomes so great as great He pleases.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
नानक जाणै साचा सोइ ॥
Naanak jaaṇæ saachaa so▫é.
O Nanak! Only the True Lord Himself knows His greatness.
|
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਆਖੈ ਬੋਲੁਵਿਗਾੜੁ ॥
जे को आखै बोलुविगाड़ु ॥
Jé ko aakʰæ boluvigaaṛ.
If some prater says that he can describe God
|
ਤਾ ਲਿਖੀਐ ਸਿਰਿ ਗਾਵਾਰਾ ਗਾਵਾਰੁ ॥੨੬॥
ता लिखीऐ सिरि गावारा गावारु ॥२६॥
Ṫaa likee▫æ sir gaavaaraa gaavaar. ||26||
then write him down as the most foolish of the foolish.

ਸੋ ਦਰੁ ਕੇਹਾ ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਕੇਹਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਬਹਿ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥
सो दरु केहा सो घरु केहा जितु बहि सरब समाले ॥
So ḋar kéhaa so gʰar kéhaa jiṫ bahi sarab samaalé.
Which is that gate and mansion, sitting where-in Thou takest care of all, O Lord!

ਵਾਜੇ ਨਾਦ ਅਨੇਕ ਅਸੰਖਾ ਕੇਤੇ ਵਾਵਣਹਾਰੇ ॥
वाजे नाद अनेक असंखा केते वावणहारे ॥
vaajé naaḋ anék asankʰaa kéṫé vaavaṇhaaré.
Countless musical instruments of various types resound there and too may are the musicians.

ਕੇਤੇ ਰਾਗ ਪਰੀ ਸਿਉ ਕਹੀਅਨਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਗਾਵਣਹਾਰੇ ॥
केते राग परी सिउ कहीअनि केते गावणहारे ॥
Kéṫé raag paree si▫o kahee▫an kéṫé gaavaṇhaaré.
Good many measures with their consorts and good many minstrels hymn Thee.

ਗਾਵਹਿ ਤੁਹਨੋ ਪਉਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਰਾਜਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥
गावहि तुहनो पउणु पाणी बैसंतरु गावै राजा धरमु दुआरे ॥
Gaavahi ṫuhno pa▫uṇ paaṇee bæsanṫar gaavæ raajaa ḋʰaram ḋu▫aaré.
The wind, the water and fire sing Thee and the Righteous Justice sings Thine praises at Thy door.

ਗਾਵਹਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਲਿਖਿ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਧਰਮੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
गावहि चितु गुपतु लिखि जाणहि लिखि लिखि धरमु वीचारे ॥
Gaavahi chiṫ gupaṫ likʰ jaaṇėh likʰ likʰ ḋʰaram veechaaré.
Chitra Gupat (the recording angels) who know how to write and on the basis of whose scribed writ the Righteous Judge adjudicates, sing Thee.

ਗਾਵਹਿ ਈਸਰੁ ਬਰਮਾ ਦੇਵੀ ਸੋਹਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
गावहि ईसरु बरमा देवी सोहनि सदा सवारे ॥
Gaavahi eesar barmaa ḋévee sohan saḋaa savaaré.
Shiva, Brahma and goddess, ever beautiful, as adorned by Thee, sing Thee.

ਗਾਵਹਿ ਇੰਦ ਇਦਾਸਣਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆ ਦਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
गावहि इंद इदासणि बैठे देवतिआ दरि नाले ॥
Gaavahi inḋ iḋaasaṇ bætʰé ḋéviṫi▫aa ḋar naalé.
Indra, seated on his throne with the deities at Thy gate, sings Thee.

ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਸਾਧ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ॥
गावहि सिध समाधी अंदरि गावनि साध विचारे ॥
Gaavahi siḋʰ samaaḋʰee anḋar gaavan saaḋʰ vichaaré.
In their meditative mood the perfect persons sing of Thee and the saints on their contemplation sing as well as.

ਗਾਵਨਿ ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਵੀਰ ਕਰਾਰੇ ॥
गावनि जती सती संतोखी गावहि वीर करारे ॥
Gaavan jaṫee saṫee sanṫokʰee gaavahi veer karaaré.
The celibates, the contented, sing Thine praises and the dauntless warriors admire Thee.

ਗਾਵਨਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪੜਨਿ ਰਖੀਸਰ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਵੇਦਾ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
गावनि पंडित पड़नि रखीसर जुगु जुगु वेदा नाले ॥
Gaavan pandiṫ paṛan rakʰeesar jug jug véḋaa naalé.
The scholars, the readers of the Vedas of all the ages, together with seven supreme sages, exalt Thee.

ਗਾਵਹਿ ਮੋਹਣੀਆ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਨਿ ਸੁਰਗਾ ਮਛ ਪਇਆਲੇ ॥
गावहि मोहणीआ मनु मोहनि सुरगा मछ पइआले ॥
Gaavahi mohṇee▫aa man mohan surgaa machʰ pa▫i▫aalé.
The captivating She-seraphs who beguile the heart in paradise, this world and the nether-regions, sing Thee.

ਗਾਵਨਿ ਰਤਨ ਉਪਾਏ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
गावनि रतन उपाए तेरे अठसठि तीरथ नाले ॥
Gaavan raṫan upaa▫é ṫéré atʰsatʰ ṫiraṫʰ naalé.
The fourteen invaluable objects created by Thee, with sixty-eight places of pilgrimage, hymn Thee.

ਗਾਵਹਿ ਜੋਧ ਮਹਾਬਲ ਸੂਰਾ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਖਾਣੀ ਚਾਰੇ ॥
गावहि जोध महाबल सूरा गावहि खाणी चारे ॥
Gaavahi joḋʰ mahaabal sooraa gaavahi kʰaaṇee chaaré.
The supremely mighty warriors and Divine heroes sing Thee and four sources of creation magnify Thee.

ਗਾਵਹਿ ਖੰਡ ਮੰਡਲ ਵਰਭੰਡਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਖੇ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
गावहि खंड मंडल वरभंडा करि करि रखे धारे ॥
Gaavahi kʰand mandal varbʰandaa kar kar rakʰé ḋʰaaré.
The continents, worlds and solar systems, created and installed by Thy hand, chant Thine glories.

ਸੇਈ ਤੁਧੁਨੋ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਨਿ ਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਰਸਾਲੇ ॥
सेई तुधुनो गावहि जो तुधु भावनि रते तेरे भगत रसाले ॥
Sé▫ee ṫuḋʰuno gaavahi jo ṫuḋʰ bʰaavan raṫé ṫéré bʰagaṫ rasaalé.
Thy saints who are pleasing to Thee and are steeped in Name (the home of Nectar), they alone eulogise Thee.

ਹੋਰਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਸੇ ਮੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਨਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਿਆ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
होरि केते गावनि से मै चिति न आवनि नानकु किआ वीचारे ॥
Hor kéṫé gaavan sé mæ chiṫ na aavan Naanak ki▫aa veechaaré.
Many others, whom I cannot recollect within my mind, sing Thee. How can Nanak think of them?

ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਚੀ ਨਾਈ ॥
सोई सोई सदा सचु साहिबु साचा साची नाई ॥
So▫ee so▫ee saḋaa sach saahib saachaa saachee naa▫ee.
That and that Lord is ever true His is true and true is His Name.

ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਸੀ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਜਾਸੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਚਾਈ ॥
है भी होसी जाइ न जासी रचना जिनि रचाई ॥
Hæ bʰee hosee jaa▫é na jaasee rachnaa jin rachaa▫ee.
He, who created the creation is and shall also be. He shall not depart when the creation shall depart (disappear).

ਰੰਗੀ ਰੰਗੀ ਭਾਤੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਈ ॥
रंगी रंगी भाती करि करि जिनसी माइआ जिनि उपाई ॥
Rangee rangee bʰaaṫee kar kar jinsee maa▫i▫aa jin upaa▫ee.
God, who fashioned the world, has by diverse contrivances created the creation of various colours and Kinds.

ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਕੀਤਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਿਵ ਤਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
करि करि वेखै कीता आपणा जिव तिस दी वडिआई ॥
Kar kar vékʰæ keeṫaa aapṇaa jiv ṫis ḋee vadi▫aa▫ee.
Having created the creation, He as it pleases His Honour, beholds His handiwork.
|
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਸੀ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
जो तिसु भावै सोई करसी हुकमु न करणा जाई ॥
Jo ṫis bʰaavæ so▫ee karsee hukam na karṇaa jaa▫ee.
Whatever pleases Him, He does that. No one can issue an order to Him.
|
ਸੋ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਹਣੁ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੨੭॥
सो पातिसाहु साहा पातिसाहिबु नानक रहणु रजाई ॥२७॥
So paaṫisaahu saahaa paaṫisaahib Naanak rahaṇ rajaa▫ee. ||27||
He is the King, the Emperor of the Kings, Nanak remains subject to His will.

ਮੁੰਦਾ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਸਰਮੁ ਪਤੁ ਝੋਲੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਕੀ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਿਭੂਤਿ ॥
मुंदा संतोखु सरमु पतु झोली धिआन की करहि बिभूति ॥
Munḋa sanṫokʰ saram paṫ jʰolee ḋʰi▫aan kee karahi bibʰooṫ.
Make contentment thy earrings, modesty thy begging bowl and wellect and the Lord’s meditation thy ashes.

ਖਿੰਥਾ ਕਾਲੁ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਕਾਇਆ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਡੰਡਾ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
खिंथा कालु कुआरी काइआ जुगति डंडा परतीति ॥
Kʰinṫʰaa kaal ku▫aaree kaa▫i▫aa jugaṫ dandaa parṫeeṫ.
Let thought of death be thy patched coat, chastity like that of virgin’s body, thy life’s department and faith in God thy staff.

ਆਈ ਪੰਥੀ ਸਗਲ ਜਮਾਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਜੀਤੈ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਤੁ ॥
आई पंथी सगल जमाती मनि जीतै जगु जीतु ॥
Aa▫ee panṫʰee sagal jamaaṫee man jeeṫæ jag jeeṫ.
Make the brother hood with all, the highest sect of yogic order and deem the conquering of self the conquest of the world.

ਆਦੇਸੁ ਤਿਸੈ ਆਦੇਸੁ ॥
आदेसु तिसै आदेसु ॥
Aaḋés ṫisæ aaḋés.
Obeisance, my obeisance is unto that Lord.
|
ਆਦਿ ਅਨੀਲੁ ਅਨਾਦਿ ਅਨਾਹਤਿ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਏਕੋ ਵੇਸੁ ॥੨੮॥
आदि अनीलु अनादि अनाहति जुगु जुगु एको वेसु ॥२८॥
Aaḋ aneel anaaḋ anaahaṫ jug jug éko vés. ||28||
He is primal, pure, sans beginning, indestructible and of the same one vesture all the ages through.

ਭੁਗਤਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਦਇਆ ਭੰਡਾਰਣਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਵਾਜਹਿ ਨਾਦ ॥
भुगति गिआनु दइआ भंडारणि घटि घटि वाजहि नाद ॥
Bʰugaṫ gi▫aan ḋa▫i▫aa bʰandaaraṇ gʰat gʰat vaajėh naaḋ.
Make Divine Knowledge thy food and mercy thy steward and listen to the Divine music that beats in every heart.

ਆਪਿ ਨਾਥੁ ਨਾਥੀ ਸਭ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਅਵਰਾ ਸਾਦ ॥
आपि नाथु नाथी सभ जा की रिधि सिधि अवरा साद ॥
Aap naaṫʰ naaṫʰee sabʰ jaa kee riḋʰ siḋʰ avraa saaḋ.
He Himself is supreme Lord who has snaffled all. Riches and miracles are extraneous relishes not liked by saints.

ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਦੁਇ ਕਾਰ ਚਲਾਵਹਿ ਲੇਖੇ ਆਵਹਿ ਭਾਗ ॥
संजोगु विजोगु दुइ कार चलावहि लेखे आवहि भाग ॥
Sanjog vijog ḋu▫é kaar chalaavėh lékʰé aavahi bʰaag.
Union and separation both regulate the world’s business and by destiny man obtains his share.
