ਜੋ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
जो अंतरि सो बाहरि देखहु अवरु न दूजा कोई जीउ ॥
Jo anṯar so bāhar ḏekẖhu avar na ḏūjā ko▫ī jī▫o.
He, who is within, see him without as well, as without Him there is not another's second.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
गुरमुखि एक द्रिसटि करि देखहु घटि घटि जोति समोई जीउ ॥२॥
Gurmukẖ ek ḏarisat kar ḏekẖhu gẖat gẖat joṯ samo▫ī jī▫o. ||2||
By Guru's grace, see thou all with the same one eye, as in every heart, the Lord's light is contained.

ਚਲਤੌ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਖਹੁ ਘਰਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
चलतौ ठाकि रखहु घरि अपनै गुर मिलिऐ इह मति होई जीउ ॥
Cẖalṯou ṯẖāk rakẖahu gẖar apnai gur mili▫ai ih maṯ ho▫ī jī▫o.
Restrain and keep in its home the mercurial mind. Meeting the Guru, this understanding is attained.

ਦੇਖਿ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੁ ਰਹਉ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
देखि अद्रिसटु रहउ बिसमादी दुखु बिसरै सुखु होई जीउ ॥३॥
Ḏekẖ aḏrist raha▫o bismāḏī ḏukẖ bisrai sukẖ ho▫ī jī▫o. ||3||
Seeing the unseeable Lord, thou shalt be wonder-struck and then forgetting thy misery, thou shalt gather peace.

ਪੀਵਹੁ ਅਪਿਉ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
पीवहु अपिउ परम सुखु पाईऐ निज घरि वासा होई जीउ ॥
Pīvhu api▫o param sukẖ pā▫ī▫ai nij gẖar vāsā ho▫ī jī▫o.
Quaffing ambrosia, thou shalt attain supreme bliss and abide in thy own home (self).

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਵ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
जनम मरण भव भंजनु गाईऐ पुनरपि जनमु न होई जीउ ॥४॥
Janam maraṇ bẖav bẖanjan gā▫ī▫ai punrap janam na ho▫ī jī▫o. ||4||
Sing thou the praise of the Destroyer of the dread of birth and death and thou shalt not be born again.

ਤਤੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਸੋਹੰ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
ततु निरंजनु जोति सबाई सोहं भेदु न कोई जीउ ॥
Ŧaṯ niranjan joṯ sabā▫ī sohaʼn bẖeḏ na ko▫ī jī▫o.
The light of the Immaculate Lord, the essence of everything, is pervading all. I am He and there is no difference.

ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੧੧॥
अपर्मपर पारब्रहमु परमेसरु नानक गुरु मिलिआ सोई जीउ ॥५॥११॥
Aprampar pārbarahm parmesar Nānak gur mili▫ā so▫ī jī▫o. ||5||11||
He is the Infinite, Transcendent Lord, the Supreme God and Him, Nanak has obtained as His Guru.

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਘਰੁ ੩
सोरठि महला १ घरु ३
Soraṯẖ mėhlā 1 gẖar 3
Sorath 1st Guru.
|
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
There is but One God. By True Guru's grace He is obtained.
|
ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵਾ ਤਦ ਹੀ ਗਾਵਾ ॥
जा तिसु भावा तद ही गावा ॥
Jā ṯis bẖāvā ṯaḏ hī gāvā.
When I become pleasing to Him, then alone sing I His praise.
|
ਤਾ ਗਾਵੇ ਕਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਾ ॥
ता गावे का फलु पावा ॥
Ŧā gāve kā fal pāvā.
Thus do I receive the fruit of singing His praise.
|
ਗਾਵੇ ਕਾ ਫਲੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
गावे का फलु होई ॥
Gāve kā fal ho▫ī.
The fruit of hymning His praise is gathered,
|
ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥
जा आपे देवै सोई ॥१॥
Jā āpe ḏevai so▫ī. ||1||
when He, the Lord Himself bestows it.
|
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
मन मेरे गुर बचनी निधि पाई ॥
Man mere gur bacẖnī niḏẖ pā▫ī.
My soul, by Guru's instruction I have gathered the Name treasure.
|
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਸਚ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ता ते सच महि रहिआ समाई ॥ रहाउ ॥
Ŧā ṯe sacẖ mėh rahi▫ā samā▫ī. Rahā▫o.
Therefore, now I remain absorbed in the True Name. Pause.
|
ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜਾਗੀ ॥
गुर साखी अंतरि जागी ॥
Gur sākẖī anṯar jāgī.
When Guru's instruction become manifest within me,
|
ਤਾ ਚੰਚਲ ਮਤਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥
ता चंचल मति तिआगी ॥
Ŧā cẖancẖal maṯ ṯi▫āgī.
then did I forsake my mercurial temperament.
|
ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਕਾ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ॥
गुर साखी का उजीआरा ॥
Gur sākẖī kā ujī▫ārā.
With the light of the Guru's instruction,
|
ਤਾ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਅੰਧ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
ता मिटिआ सगल अंध्यारा ॥२॥
Ŧā miti▫ā sagal anḏẖ▫yārā. ||2||
the entire darkness is dispelled.
|
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
गुर चरनी मनु लागा ॥
Gur cẖarnī man lāgā.
When man's mind is attached with the Guru's feet,
|
ਤਾ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਭਾਗਾ ॥
ता जम का मारगु भागा ॥
Ŧā jam kā mārag bẖāgā.
then death's path recedes away from him.
|
ਭੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
भै विचि निरभउ पाइआ ॥
Bẖai vicẖ nirbẖa▫o pā▫i▫ā.
In the Lord's fear, the man attains to the Fearless Lord.
|
ਤਾ ਸਹਜੈ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੩॥
ता सहजै कै घरि आइआ ॥३॥
Ŧā sahjai kai gẖar ā▫i▫ā. ||3||
Then he enters the home of celestial bliss.
|
ਭਣਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
भणति नानकु बूझै को बीचारी ॥
Bẖaṇaṯ Nānak būjẖai ko bīcẖārī.
Says Nanak, some rare thoughtful person knows,
|
ਇਸੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
इसु जग महि करणी सारी ॥
Is jag mėh karṇī sārī.
as to what is the most pious action in this world.
|
ਕਰਣੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
करणी कीरति होई ॥
Karṇī kīraṯ ho▫ī.
The noblest deed is the Lord's praise,
|
ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੋਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨॥
जा आपे मिलिआ सोई ॥४॥१॥१२॥
Jā āpe mili▫ā so▫ī. ||4||1||12||
whereby the Lord Himself meets the mortal.
|
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਘਰੁ ੧
सोरठि महला ३ घरु १
Soraṯẖ mėhlā 3 gẖar 1
Sorath 3rd Guru.
|
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
There is but One God. By True Guru's grace, He is obtained.
|
ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਿਨ ਸਬਦੈ ਸਾਦੁ ਆਇਆ ॥
सेवक सेव करहि सभि तेरी जिन सबदै सादु आइआ ॥
Sevak sev karahi sabẖ ṯerī jin sabḏai sāḏ ā▫i▫ā.
O Lord, all Thine servants, who relish the Name, perform Thy service.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
गुर किरपा ते निरमलु होआ जिनि विचहु आपु गवाइआ ॥
Gur kirpā ṯe nirmal ho▫ā jin vicẖahu āp gavā▫i▫ā.
He, who effaces his self-conceit from within himself, becomes pure by Guru's grace.
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
अनदिनु गुण गावहि नित साचे गुर कै सबदि सुहाइआ ॥१॥
An▫ḏin guṇ gāvahi niṯ sācẖe gur kai sabaḏ suhā▫i▫ā. ||1||
He, who night and day, ever sings the True Lord's praise, is adorned with the Guru's word.
|
ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
मेरे ठाकुर हम बारिक सरणि तुमारी ॥
Mere ṯẖākur ham bārik saraṇ ṯumārī.
O my Master, I am Thy child and I seek Thy protection.
|
ਏਕੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਤੂ ਕੇਵਲੁ ਆਪਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
एको सचा सचु तू केवलु आपि मुरारी ॥ रहाउ ॥
Ėko sacẖā sacẖ ṯū keval āp murārī. Rahā▫o.
My unique Lord, Thou alone art the Truest of the true. O Enemy of ego, Thou art all by Thyself. Pause.

ਜਾਗਤ ਰਹੇ ਤਿਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਬਦੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
जागत रहे तिनी प्रभु पाइआ सबदे हउमै मारी ॥
Jāgaṯ rahe ṯinī parabẖ pā▫i▫ā sabḏe ha▫umai mārī.
They, who remain wakeful, obtain the Lord and through the Name efface their ego.
|
ਗਿਰਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਤਤ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
गिरही महि सदा हरि जन उदासी गिआन तत बीचारी ॥
Girhī mėh saḏā har jan uḏāsī gi▫ān ṯaṯ bīcẖārī.
In family life, Lord's slave ever remains in dispassion and reflects over the quintessence of gnosis.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
सतिगुरु सेवि सदा सुखु पाइआ हरि राखिआ उर धारी ॥२॥
Saṯgur sev saḏā sukẖ pā▫i▫ā har rākẖi▫ā ur ḏẖārī. ||2||
Serving the True Guru, he over attain peace and keeps God enshrined in his heart.
|
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵਦਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਇਆ ॥
इहु मनूआ दह दिसि धावदा दूजै भाइ खुआइआ ॥
Ih manū▫ā ḏah ḏis ḏẖāvḏā ḏūjai bẖā▫e kẖu▫ā▫i▫ā.
This mind wanders in ten directions and duality consumes it.
