ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਰਾਤੇ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਪਰਭਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰੇ ॥੨॥
तुझ ही मन राते अहिनिसि परभाते हरि रसना जपि मन रे ॥२॥
Ŧujẖ hī man rāṯe ahinis parbẖāṯe har rasnā jap man re. ||2||
Day, night and morn my Soul remains imbued with Thee. O God, and my tongue heartily utters thy Name.

ਤੁਮ ਸਾਚੇ ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਰਾਚੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਭੇਦਿ ਫੁਨਿ ਸਾਚੇ ॥
तुम साचे हम तुम ही राचे सबदि भेदि फुनि साचे ॥
Ŧum sācẖe ham ṯum hī rācẖe sabaḏ bẖeḏ fun sācẖe.
Thou art true and I am absorbed in Thee, and having realised the Name's mystery, I have ultimately become true.

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਸੂਚੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੇ ਸੇ ਕਾਚੇ ॥੩॥
अहिनिसि नामि रते से सूचे मरि जनमे से काचे ॥३॥
Ahinis nām raṯe se sūcẖe mar janme se kācẖe. ||3||
They, who day and night, remain imbued with the Name are pure but they who come and go are false.
|
ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਕਿਸੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਸਰੀਕੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
अवरु न दीसै किसु सालाही तिसहि सरीकु न कोई ॥
Avar na ḏīsai kis sālāhī ṯisėh sarīk na ko▫ī.
I see not another like my Lord. Whom else should I eulogise? No one equals Him.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਸੋਈ ॥੪॥੫॥
प्रणवति नानकु दासनि दासा गुरमति जानिआ सोई ॥४॥५॥
Paraṇvaṯ Nānak ḏāsan ḏāsā gurmaṯ jāni▫ā so▫ī. ||4||5||
Prays Nanak "I am the slave of the Lord's slave and by Guru's instruction, I have known Him".

ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਗੰਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਕਰਮਾ ॥
अलख अपार अगम अगोचर ना तिसु कालु न करमा ॥
Alakẖ apār agamm agocẖar nā ṯis kāl na karmā.
Unknowable, Infinite, Unapproachable and Imperceptible is my Lord. He is not subject to death and destiny.

ਜਾਤਿ ਅਜਾਤਿ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਸੰਭਉ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਭਰਮਾ ॥੧॥
जाति अजाति अजोनी स्मभउ ना तिसु भाउ न भरमा ॥१॥
Jāṯ ajāṯ ajonī sambẖa▫o nā ṯis bẖā▫o na bẖarmā. ||1||
His caste is castelessness. He is unborn, self-illumined and without desire and doubt.

ਸਾਚੇ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
साचे सचिआर विटहु कुरबाणु ॥
Sācẖe sacẖiār vitahu kurbāṇ.
I am a sacrifice unto the Truest of the true.
|
ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਰੂਪ ਵਰਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ना तिसु रूप वरनु नही रेखिआ साचै सबदि नीसाणु ॥ रहाउ ॥
Nā ṯis rūp varan nahī rekẖ▫i▫ā sācẖai sabaḏ nīsāṇ. Rahā▫o.
He has no form, no colour and no features. Through His True Name, He becomes manifest. Pause.

ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧਪ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਮੁ ਨ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
ना तिसु मात पिता सुत बंधप ना तिसु कामु न नारी ॥
Nā ṯis māṯ piṯā suṯ banḏẖap nā ṯis kām na nārī.
He has no mother, father, son and kinsmen. He is free from lust and has no wife.

ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਅਪਰ ਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਸਗਲੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
अकुल निरंजन अपर पर्मपरु सगली जोति तुमारी ॥२॥
Akul niranjan apar parampar saglī joṯ ṯumārī. ||2||
Thou, O Lord art without ancestry unsoiled by mammon's love, endless and infinite. Thy light is pervading all.
|
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਲੁਕਾਇਆ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ॥
घट घट अंतरि ब्रहमु लुकाइआ घटि घटि जोति सबाई ॥
Gẖat gẖat anṯar barahm lukā▫i▫ā gẖat gẖat joṯ sabā▫ī.
within every heart is hid the Lord and in all the hearts and bodies is His light.

ਬਜਰ ਕਪਾਟ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈ ॥੩॥
बजर कपाट मुकते गुरमती निरभै ताड़ी लाई ॥३॥
Bajar kapāt mukṯe gurmaṯī nirbẖai ṯāṛī lā▫ī. ||3||
By Guru's instruction, the adamantine doors are opened and the man assumes trance in the fear-free Lord.

ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਇ ਕਾਲੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਜੰਤਾ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ॥
जंत उपाइ कालु सिरि जंता वसगति जुगति सबाई ॥
Janṯ upā▫e kāl sir janṯā vasgaṯ jugaṯ sabā▫ī.
Creating the beings the Lord has stationed death over the head of the beings and all their working the Lord has kept under His away.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਛੂਟਹਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਈ ॥੪॥
सतिगुरु सेवि पदारथु पावहि छूटहि सबदु कमाई ॥४॥
Saṯgur sev paḏārath pāvahi cẖẖūtėh sabaḏ kamā▫ī. ||4||
He who serves the True Guru, receive the Name wealth and is emancipated by living the Name.
|
ਸੂਚੈ ਭਾਡੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਸੂਚਾਚਾਰੀ ॥
सूचै भाडै साचु समावै विरले सूचाचारी ॥
Sūcẖai bẖādai sācẖ samāvai virle sūcẖācẖārī.
In the pure vessel is contained the True Name. A few indeed are blessed with pure conduct.

ਤੰਤੈ ਕਉ ਪਰਮ ਤੰਤੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੫॥੬॥
तंतै कउ परम तंतु मिलाइआ नानक सरणि तुमारी ॥५॥६॥
Ŧanṯai ka▫o param ṯanṯ milā▫i▫ā Nānak saraṇ ṯumārī. ||5||6||
Seeing Thy protection, O Lord, man's soul, unites with the supreme soul, says Nana.

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
सोरठि महला १ ॥

Sorath 1st Guru.
|
ਜਿਉ ਮੀਨਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਾਣੀਐ ਤਿਉ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਪਿਆਸ ॥
जिउ मीना बिनु पाणीऐ तिउ साकतु मरै पिआस ॥
Ji▫o mīnā bin pāṇī▫ai ṯi▫o sākaṯ marai pi▫ās.
As is a fish without water, so is an apostate, who dies of thirst.
|
ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਰੀਐ ਰੇ ਮਨਾ ਜੋ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਵੈ ਸਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
तिउ हरि बिनु मरीऐ रे मना जो बिरथा जावै सासु ॥१॥
Ŧi▫o har bin marī▫ai re manā jo birthā jāvai sās. ||1||
So doest thou die O man, without God, if thy breath goes in vain.
|
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜਸੁ ਲੇਇ ॥
मन रे राम नाम जसु लेइ ॥
Man re rām nām jas le▫e.
O man utter thou the Lord's Name and praise.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਇਹੁ ਰਸੁ ਕਿਉ ਲਹਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
बिनु गुर इहु रसु किउ लहउ गुरु मेलै हरि देइ ॥ रहाउ ॥
Bin gur ih ras ki▫o laha▫o gur melai har ḏe▫e. Rahā▫o.
Without the Guru, how shalt thou obtain this Nectar? The Guru unites man with the Lord. Pause.
|
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲੁ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
संत जना मिलु संगती गुरमुखि तीरथु होइ ॥
Sanṯ janā mil sangṯī gurmukẖ ṯirath ho▫e.
For the Guru-wards, meeting the society of the pious persons is like visiting a place of pilgrimage.
|
ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਮਜਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
अठसठि तीरथ मजना गुर दरसु परापति होइ ॥२॥
Aṯẖsaṯẖ ṯirath majnā gur ḏaras parāpaṯ ho▫e. ||2||
The merit of ablution at the sixty eight places of pilgrimage is obtained by beholding the Guru.
|
ਜਿਉ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਤ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਤਪੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ॥
जिउ जोगी जत बाहरा तपु नाही सतु संतोखु ॥
Ji▫o jogī jaṯ bāhrā ṯap nāhī saṯ sanṯokẖ.
As is the Yogi without continence and as is penance without truth and contentment,
|
ਤਿਉ ਨਾਮੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੇਹੁਰੀ ਜਮੁ ਮਾਰੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਦੋਖੁ ॥੩॥
तिउ नामै बिनु देहुरी जमु मारै अंतरि दोखु ॥३॥
Ŧi▫o nāmai bin ḏehurī jam mārai anṯar ḏokẖ. ||3||
so is the body without the Lord's Name. Death punishes it, as within it, is sin.
|
ਸਾਕਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥
साकत प्रेमु न पाईऐ हरि पाईऐ सतिगुर भाइ ॥
Sākaṯ parem na pā▫ī▫ai har pā▫ī▫ai saṯgur bẖā▫e.
The mammon-worshipper obtains not Lord's love. Through the True Guru, the Lord's love is attained.

ਸੁਖ ਦੁਖ ਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੭॥
सुख दुख दाता गुरु मिलै कहु नानक सिफति समाइ ॥४॥७॥
Sukẖ ḏukẖ ḏāṯā gur milai kaho Nānak sifaṯ samā▫e. ||4||7||
Says Nanak, he whom meets Guru, the giver of weal and woe, gets absorbed in the Lord's praise.

ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਨਿ ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਹਮ ਥਾਰੇ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
तू प्रभ दाता दानि मति पूरा हम थारे भेखारी जीउ ॥
Ŧū parabẖ ḏāṯā ḏān maṯ pūrā ham thāre bẖekẖārī jī▫o.
Thou, O my reverend, Beneficent Lord of perfect understanding and munificence, I am but a beggar of Thine.

ਮੈ ਕਿਆ ਮਾਗਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
मै किआ मागउ किछु थिरु न रहाई हरि दीजै नामु पिआरी जीउ ॥१॥
Mai ki▫ā māga▫o kicẖẖ thir na rahā▫ī har ḏījai nām pi▫ārī jī▫o. ||1||
what should I ask for? Nothing remain permanent. O Lord, bless me with Thy Beloved Name.

ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
घटि घटि रवि रहिआ बनवारी ॥
Gẖat gẖat rav rahi▫ā banvārī.
The flower girt Lord is contained in every heart.
|
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਗੁਪਤੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जलि थलि महीअलि गुपतो वरतै गुर सबदी देखि निहारी जीउ ॥ रहाउ ॥
Jal thal mahī▫al gupṯo varṯai gur sabḏī ḏekẖ nihārī jī▫o. Rahā▫o.
In ocean, earth and sky, He is unmanifestly contained and by Guru's instruction, His sight is seen. Pause.

ਮਰਤ ਪਇਆਲ ਅਕਾਸੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
मरत पइआल अकासु दिखाइओ गुरि सतिगुरि किरपा धारी जीउ ॥
Maraṯ pa▫i▫āl akās ḏikẖā▫i▫o gur saṯgur kirpā ḏẖārī jī▫o.
Showering his benediction, the great True Guru has shown me the Lord, in the mortal world, nether world and the firmament.

ਸੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਨੀ ਘਟ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
सो ब्रहमु अजोनी है भी होनी घट भीतरि देखु मुरारी जीउ ॥२॥
So barahm ajonī hai bẖī honī gẖat bẖīṯar ḏekẖ murārī jī▫o. ||2||
He, the unborn Lord is and shall also ever be. In thy heart behold thou Him, the Enemy of pride.
