ਸਬਦੈ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਗੋ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Sabḏai sāḏ na ā▫i▫o nām na lago pi▫ār.
One who does not savor the taste of the Shabad, who does not love the Naam, the Name of the Lord,
|
ਰਸਨਾ ਫਿਕਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
Rasnā fikā bolṇā niṯ niṯ ho▫e kẖu▫ār.
and who speaks insipid words with his tongue, is ruined, again and again.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਪਇਐ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
Nānak kiraṯ pa▫i▫ai kamāvaṇā ko▫e na metaṇhār. ||2||
O Nanak, he acts according to the karma of his past actions, which no one can erase. ||2||

Ḏẖan ḏẖan saṯ purakẖ saṯgurū hamārā jiṯ mili▫ai ham ka▫o sāʼnṯ ā▫ī.
Blessed, blessed is the True Being, my True Guru; meeting Him, I have found peace.

Ḏẖan ḏẖan saṯ purakẖ saṯgurū hamārā jiṯ mili▫ai ham har bẖagaṯ pā▫ī.
Blessed, blessed is the True Being, my True Guru; meeting Him, I have attained the Lord's devotional worship.

ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
Ḏẖan ḏẖan har bẖagaṯ saṯgurū hamārā jis kī sevā ṯe ham har nām liv lā▫ī.
Blessed, blessed is the Lord's devotee, my True Guru; serving Him, I have come to enshrine love for the Name of the Lord.

ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਵੈਰੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਸਭ ਸਮ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥
Ḏẖan ḏẖan har gi▫ānī saṯgurū hamārā jin vairī miṯar ham ka▫o sabẖ sam ḏarisat ḏikẖā▫ī.
Blessed, blessed is the Knower of the Lord, my True Guru; He has taught me to look upon friend and foe alike.

Ḏẖan ḏẖan saṯgurū miṯar hamārā jin har nām si▫o hamārī parīṯ baṇā▫ī. ||19||
Blessed, blessed is the True Guru, my best friend; He has led me to embrace love for the Name of the Lord. ||19||

ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮੁੰਧਿ ਵਿਦੇਸਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਨਿਤ ਝੂਰੇ ਸੰਮ੍ਹਾਲੇ ॥
Gẖar hī munḏẖ viḏes pir niṯ jẖūre sammĥāle.
The soul-bride is at home, while the Husband Lord is away; she cherishes His memory, and mourns His absence.

ਮਿਲਦਿਆ ਢਿਲ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੇ ਨੀਅਤਿ ਰਾਸਿ ਕਰੇ ॥੧॥
Milḏi▫āʼn dẖil na hova▫ī je nī▫aṯ rās kare. ||1||
She shall meet Him without delay, if she rids herself of duality. ||1||

ਨਾਨਕ ਗਾਲੀ ਕੂੜੀਆ ਬਾਝੁ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
Nānak gālī kūṛī▫ā bājẖ parīṯ kare▫i.
O Nanak, false is the speech of one who acts without loving the Lord.

ਤਿਚਰੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਲੇਵੈ ਦੇਇ ॥੨॥
Ŧicẖar jāṇai bẖalā kar jicẖar levai ḏe▫e. ||2||
He judges things to be good, only as long as the Lord gives and he receives. ||2||

ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਜੀਅ ਤਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥
Jin upā▫e jī▫a ṯin har rākẖi▫ā.
The Lord, who created the creatures, also protects them.
|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਉ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ॥
Amriṯ sacẖā nā▫o bẖojan cẖākẖi▫ā.
I have tasted the food of Ambrosial Nectar, the True Name.

ਤਿਪਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਆਘਾਇ ਮਿਟੀ ਭਭਾਖਿਆ ॥
Ŧipaṯ rahe āgẖā▫e mitī bẖabẖākẖi▫ā.
I am satisfied and satiated, and my hunger is appeased.

ਸਭ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਲਾਖਿਆ ॥
Sabẖ anḏar ik varṯai kinai virlai lākẖi▫ā.
The One Lord is pervading in all, but rare are those who realize this.
|
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪਾਖਿਆ ॥੨੦॥
Jan Nānak bẖa▫e nihāl parabẖ kī pākẖi▫ā. ||20||
Servant Nanak is enraptured, in the Protection of God. ||20||

Shalok, Third Mehl:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਜੇਤਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
Saṯgur no sabẖ ko vekẖ▫ḏā jeṯā jagaṯ sansār.
All the living beings of the world behold the True Guru.

ਡਿਠੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
Diṯẖai mukaṯ na hova▫ī jicẖar sabaḏ na kare vīcẖār.
One is not liberated by merely seeing Him, unless one contemplates the Word of His Shabad.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Ha▫umai mail na cẖuk▫ī nām na lagai pi▫ār.
The filth of ego is not removed, and he does not enshrine love for the Naam.

ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
Ik āpe bakẖas milā▫i▫an ḏubiḏẖā ṯaj vikār.
The Lord forgives some, and unites them with Himself; they forsake their duality and sinful ways.

ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੧॥
Nānak ik ḏarsan ḏekẖ mar mile saṯgur heṯ pi▫ār. ||1||
O Nanak, some behold the Blessed Vision of the True Guru's Darshan, with love and affection; conquering their ego, they meet with the Lord. ||1||

Third Mehl:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਧ ਗਵਾਰਿ ॥
Saṯgurū na sevi▫o mūrakẖ anḏẖ gavār.
The foolish, blind clown does not serve the True Guru.

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਲਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ॥
Ḏūjai bẖā▫e bahuṯ ḏukẖ lāgā jalṯā kare pukār.
In love with duality, he endures terrible suffering, and burning, he cries out in pain.
|
ਜਿਨ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਨ ਉਪਕਰੇ ਅੰਤੀ ਵਾਰ ॥
Jin kāraṇ gurū visāri▫ā se na upkare anṯī vār.
He forgets the Guru, for the sake of mere objects, but they will not come to his rescue in the end.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਖਸੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
Nānak gurmaṯī sukẖ pā▫i▫ā bakẖse bakẖsaṇhār. ||2||
Through the Guru's Instructions, Nanak has found peace; the Forgiving Lord has forgiven him. ||2||

ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਅਵਰੋ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
Ŧū āpe āp āp sabẖ karṯā ko▫ī ḏūjā ho▫e so avro kahī▫ai.
You Yourself, all by Yourself, are the Creator of all. If there were any other, then I would speak of another.

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੋਲੈ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੀਐ ॥
Har āpe bolai āp bulāvai har āpe jal thal rav rahī▫ai.
The Lord Himself speaks, and causes us to speak; He Himself is pervading the water and the land.

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਛੋਡੈ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣੀ ਪੜਿ ਰਹੀਐ ॥
Har āpe mārai har āpe cẖẖodai man har sarṇī paṛ rahī▫ai.
The Lord Himself destroys, and the Lord Himself saves. O mind, seek and remain in the Lord's Sanctuary.

ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਮਨ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਚਿੰਦ ਨਿਸਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੀਐ ॥
Har bin ko▫ī mār jīvāl na sakai man ho▫e nicẖinḏ nisal ho▫e rahī▫ai.
Other than the Lord, no one can kill or rejuvenate. O mind, do not be anxious - remain fearless.

ਉਠਦਿਆ ਬਹਦਿਆ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੨੧॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ
Uṯẖ▫ḏi▫ā bahḏi▫ā suṯi▫ā saḏā saḏā har nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai jan Nānak gurmukẖ har lahī▫ai. ||21||1|| suḏẖu
While standing, sitting, and sleeping, forever and ever, meditate on the Lord's Name; O servant Nanak, as Gurmukh, you shall attain the Lord. ||21||1||Sudh||
