ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਨਿ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
नानक बिनु सतिगुर सेवे जम पुरि बधे मारीअनि मुहि कालै उठि जाहि ॥१॥
Nānak bin saṯgur seve jam pur baḏẖe mārī▫an muhi kālai uṯẖ jāhi. ||1||
O Nanak, without serving the True Guru, they are bound and beaten in the City of Death; they arise and depart with blackened faces. ||1||

ਜਾਲਉ ਐਸੀ ਰੀਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਮੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਵੀਸਰੈ ॥
जालउ ऐसी रीति जितु मै पिआरा वीसरै ॥
Jāla▫o aisī rīṯ jiṯ mai pi▫ārā vīsrai.
Burn away those rituals which lead you to forget the Beloved Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਈ ਭਲੀ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਤਿ ਰਹੈ ॥੨॥
नानक साई भली परीति जितु साहिब सेती पति रहै ॥२॥
Nānak sā▫ī bẖalī parīṯ jiṯ sāhib seṯī paṯ rahai. ||2||
O Nanak, sublime is that love, which preserves my honor with my Lord Master. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
हरि इको दाता सेवीऐ हरि इकु धिआईऐ ॥
Har iko ḏāṯā sevī▫ai har ik ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai.
Serve the One Lord, the Great Giver; meditate on the One Lord.
|
ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
हरि इको दाता मंगीऐ मन चिंदिआ पाईऐ ॥
Har iko ḏāṯā mangī▫ai man cẖinḏi▫ā pā▫ī▫ai.
Beg from the One Lord, the Great Giver, and you shall obtain your heart's desires.
|
ਜੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਾ ਲਾਜ ਮਰਾਈਐ ॥
जे दूजे पासहु मंगीऐ ता लाज मराईऐ ॥
Je ḏūje pāshu mangī▫ai ṯā lāj marā▫ī▫ai.
But if you beg from another, then you shall be shamed and destroyed.

ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥
जिनि सेविआ तिनि फलु पाइआ तिसु जन की सभ भुख गवाईऐ ॥
Jin sevi▫ā ṯin fal pā▫i▫ā ṯis jan kī sabẖ bẖukẖ gavā▫ī▫ai.
One who serves the Lord obtains the fruits of his rewards; all of his hunger is satisfied.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧੦॥
नानकु तिन विटहु वारिआ जिन अनदिनु हिरदै हरि नामु धिआईऐ ॥१०॥
Nānak ṯin vitahu vāri▫ā jin an▫ḏin hirḏai har nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai. ||10||
Nanak is a sacrifice to those, who night and day, meditate within their hearts on the Name of the Lord. ||10||

ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੰਉ ਆਪਿ ਤੁਠਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਲਇਅਨੁ ਜਨ ਲਾਇ ॥
भगत जना कंउ आपि तुठा मेरा पिआरा आपे लइअनु जन लाइ ॥
Bẖagaṯ janā kaʼn▫u āp ṯuṯẖā merā pi▫ārā āpe la▫i▫an jan lā▫e.
He Himself is pleased with His humble devotees; my Beloved Lord attaches them to Himself.

ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਦਿਤੀਅਨੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਤੁ ਸਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਬਣਾਇ ॥
पातिसाही भगत जना कउ दितीअनु सिरि छतु सचा हरि बणाइ ॥
Pāṯisāhī bẖagaṯ janā ka▫o ḏiṯī▫an sir cẖẖaṯ sacẖā har baṇā▫e.
The Lord blesses His humble devotees with royalty; He fashions the true crown upon their heads.

ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੀਏ ਨਿਰਮਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
सदा सुखीए निरमले सतिगुर की कार कमाइ ॥
Saḏā sukẖī▫e nirmale saṯgur kī kār kamā▫e.
They are always at peace, and immaculately pure; they perform service for the True Guru.

ਰਾਜੇ ਓਇ ਨ ਆਖੀਅਹਿ ਭਿੜਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਨੀ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
राजे ओइ न आखीअहि भिड़ि मरहि फिरि जूनी पाहि ॥
Rāje o▫e na ākẖī▫ahi bẖiṛ marėh fir jūnī pāhi.
They are not said to be kings, who die in conflict, and then enter again the cycle of reincarnation.

ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਨਕੀ ਵਢੀ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
नानक विणु नावै नकीं वढीं फिरहि सोभा मूलि न पाहि ॥१॥
Nānak viṇ nāvai nakīʼn vadẖīʼn firėh sobẖā mūl na pāhi. ||1||
O Nanak, without the Name of the Lord, they wander about with their noses cut off in disgrace; they get no respect at all. ||1||

ਸੁਣਿ ਸਿਖਿਐ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
सुणि सिखिऐ सादु न आइओ जिचरु गुरमुखि सबदि न लागै ॥
Suṇ sikẖi▫ai sāḏ na ā▫i▫o jicẖar gurmukẖ sabaḏ na lāgai.
Hearing the teachings, he does not appreciate them, as long as he is not Gurmukh, attached to the Word of the Shabad.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
सतिगुरि सेविऐ नामु मनि वसै विचहु भ्रमु भउ भागै ॥
Saṯgur sevi▫ai nām man vasai vicẖahu bẖaram bẖa▫o bẖāgai.
Serving the True Guru, the Naam comes to abide in the mind, and doubts and fears run away.

ਜੇਹਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਤੇਹੋ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
जेहा सतिगुर नो जाणै तेहो होवै ता सचि नामि लिव लागै ॥
Jehā saṯgur no jāṇai ṯeho hovai ṯā sacẖ nām liv lāgai.
As he knows the True Guru, so he is transformed, and then, he lovingly focuses his consciousness on the Naam.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਹਨਿ ਆਗੈ ॥੨॥
नानक नामि मिलै वडिआई हरि दरि सोहनि आगै ॥२॥
Nānak nām milai vadi▫ā▫ī har ḏar sohan āgai. ||2||
O Nanak, through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, greatness is obtained; he shall be resplendent in the Court of the Lord hereafter. ||2||

ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਜਣ ਆਵਹਿ ॥
गुरसिखां मनि हरि प्रीति है गुरु पूजण आवहि ॥
Gursikẖāʼn man har parīṯ hai gur pūjaṇ āvahi.
The minds of the GurSikhs are filled with the love of the Lord; they come and worship the Guru.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਣੰਜਹਿ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈ ਜਾਵਹਿ ॥
हरि नामु वणंजहि रंग सिउ लाहा हरि नामु लै जावहि ॥
Har nām vaṇaʼnjahi rang si▫o lāhā har nām lai jāvėh.
They trade lovingly in the Lord's Name, and depart after earning the profit of the Lord's Name.

ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਭਾਵਹਿ ॥
गुरसिखा के मुख उजले हरि दरगह भावहि ॥
Gursikẖā ke mukẖ ujle har ḏargėh bẖāvėh.
The faces of the GurSikhs are radiant; in the Court of the Lord, they are approved.

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਿਖ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਂਝ ਕਰਾਵਹਿ ॥
गुरु सतिगुरु बोहलु हरि नाम का वडभागी सिख गुण सांझ करावहि ॥
Gur saṯgur bohal har nām kā vadbẖāgī sikẖ guṇ sāʼnjẖ karāvėh.
The Guru, the True Guru, is the treasure of the Lord's Name; how very fortunate are the Sikhs who share in this treasure of virtue.

ਤਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਕੰਉ ਹਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜੋ ਬਹਦਿਆ ਉਠਦਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ॥੧੧॥
तिना गुरसिखा कंउ हउ वारिआ जो बहदिआ उठदिआ हरि नामु धिआवहि ॥११॥
Ŧinā gursikẖā kaʼn▫u ha▫o vāri▫ā jo bahḏi▫ā uṯẖ▫ḏi▫ā har nām ḏẖi▫āvahi. ||11||
I am a sacrifice to those GurSikhs who, sitting and standing, meditate on the Lord's Name. ||11||

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
नानक नामु निधानु है गुरमुखि पाइआ जाइ ॥
Nānak nām niḏẖān hai gurmukẖ pā▫i▫ā jā▫e.
O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the treasure, which the Gurmukhs obtain.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਦੀ ਵਥੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਅੰਧੇ ਭਉਕਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਲਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
मनमुख घरि होदी वथु न जाणनी अंधे भउकि मुए बिललाइ ॥१॥
Manmukẖ gẖar hoḏī vath na jāṇnī anḏẖe bẖa▫uk mu▫e billā▫e. ||1||
The self-willed manmukhs are blind; they do not realize that it is within their own home. They die barking and crying. ||1||

ਕੰਚਨ ਕਾਇਆ ਨਿਰਮਲੀ ਜੋ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਚਿ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
कंचन काइआ निरमली जो सचि नामि सचि लागी ॥
Kancẖan kā▫i▫ā nirmalī jo sacẖ nām sacẖ lāgī.
That body is golden and immaculate, which is attached to the True Name of the True Lord.

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੀ ॥
निरमल जोति निरंजनु पाइआ गुरमुखि भ्रमु भउ भागी ॥
Nirmal joṯ niranjan pā▫i▫ā gurmukẖ bẖaram bẖa▫o bẖāgī.
The Gurmukh obtains the Pure Light of the Luminous Lord, and his doubts and fears run away.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥੨॥
नानक गुरमुखि सदा सुखु पावहि अनदिनु हरि बैरागी ॥२॥
Nānak gurmukẖ saḏā sukẖ pāvahi an▫ḏin har bairāgī. ||2||
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs find lasting peace; night and day, they remain detached, while in the Love of the Lord. ||2||

ਸੇ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਨੀ ॥
से गुरसिख धनु धंनु है जिनी गुर उपदेसु सुणिआ हरि कंनी ॥
Se gursikẖ ḏẖan ḏẖan hai jinī gur upḏes suṇi▫ā har kannī.
Blessed, blessed are those GurSikhs, who, with their ears, listen to the Guru's Teachings about the Lord.

ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਹੰਉਮੈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਭੰਨੀ ॥
गुरि सतिगुरि नामु द्रिड़ाइआ तिनि हंउमै दुबिधा भंनी ॥
Gur saṯgur nām driṛ▫ā▫i▫ā ṯin haʼn▫umai ḏubiḏẖā bẖannī.
The Guru, the True Guru, implants the Naam within them, and their egotism and duality are silenced.

ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਡਿਠਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੰਨੀ ॥
बिनु हरि नावै को मित्रु नाही वीचारि डिठा हरि जंनी ॥
Bin har nāvai ko miṯar nāhī vīcẖār diṯẖā har jannī.
There is no friend, other than the Name of the Lord; the Lord's humble servants reflect upon this and see.
