ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਹਸਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
अनदिनु सहसा कदे न चूकै बिनु सबदै दुखु पाए ॥
An▫ḏin sahsā kaḏe na cẖūkai bin sabḏai ḏukẖ pā▫e.
Night and day his doubts never cease and without the Lord's Name, he writhes in pain.

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਲਾ ਨਿਤ ਧੰਧਾ ਕਰਤ ਵਿਹਾਏ ॥
कामु क्रोधु लोभु अंतरि सबला नित धंधा करत विहाए ॥
Kām kroḏẖ lobẖ anṯar sablā niṯ ḏẖanḏẖā karaṯ vihā▫e.
Lust, wrath and avarice are very powerful in his mind and his life ever passes in doing worldly affairs.

ਚਰਣ ਕਰ ਦੇਖਤ ਸੁਣਿ ਥਕੇ ਦਿਹ ਮੁਕੇ ਨੇੜੈ ਆਏ ॥
चरण कर देखत सुणि थके दिह मुके नेड़ै आए ॥
Cẖaraṇ kar ḏekẖaṯ suṇ thake ḏih muke neṛai ā▫e.
Tired are his feet, hands, eyes and ears. His days are numbered and his death is near.

ਸਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਲਗੋ ਮੀਠਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
सचा नामु न लगो मीठा जितु नामि नव निधि पाए ॥
Sacẖā nām na lago mīṯẖā jiṯ nām nav niḏẖ pā▫e.
The True Name appears not sweet to him, the Name by which the nine treasures are obtained.

ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਮਰੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਮੋਖੰਤਰੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
जीवतु मरै मरै फुनि जीवै तां मोखंतरु पाए ॥
Jīvaṯ marai marai fun jīvai ṯāʼn mokẖanṯar pā▫e.
If man, in life is dead and so dying lives, again, it is then that he attains salvation.

ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਪਰਾਣੀ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕਿਆ ਪਾਏ ॥
धुरि करमु न पाइओ पराणी विणु करमा किआ पाए ॥
Ḏẖur karam na pā▫i▫o parāṇī viṇ karmā ki▫ā pā▫e.
The mortals is not blessed with Lord's grace and without Lord's grace what can he obtain?

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਤੂ ਮੂੜੇ ਗਤਿ ਮਤਿ ਸਬਦੇ ਪਾਏ ॥
गुर का सबदु समालि तू मूड़े गति मति सबदे पाए ॥
Gur kā sabaḏ samāl ṯū mūṛe gaṯ maṯ sabḏe pā▫e.
O fool, meditate thou on the Guru's hymns and through Gurbani thou shalt obtain salvation and wisdom.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤਦ ਹੀ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਂ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥੨॥
नानक सतिगुरु तद ही पाए जां विचहु आपु गवाए ॥२॥
Nānak saṯgur ṯaḏ hī pā▫e jāʼn vicẖahu āp gavā▫e. ||2||
Nanak, if thou effacest thy self-conceit from within, then alone shalt thou obtain the True Guru.

ਜਿਸ ਦੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਉ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਕਿਸੈ ਗਲੈ ਦਾ ਲੋੜੀਐ ॥
जिस दै चिति वसिआ मेरा सुआमी तिस नो किउ अंदेसा किसै गलै दा लोड़ीऐ ॥
Jis ḏai cẖiṯ vasi▫ā merā su▫āmī ṯis no ki▫o anḏesā kisai galai ḏā loṛī▫ai.
Why should he, within whose mind abides my Lord feel anxiety regarding anything?
|
ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸਭਨਾ ਗਲਾ ਕਾ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਧਿਆਇਦਿਆ ਕਿਵ ਨਿਮਖ ਘੜੀ ਮੁਹੁ ਮੋੜੀਐ ॥
हरि सुखदाता सभना गला का तिस नो धिआइदिआ किव निमख घड़ी मुहु मोड़ीऐ ॥
Har sukẖ▫ḏāṯa sabẖnā galā kā ṯis no ḏẖi▫ā▫iḏi▫ā kiv nimakẖ gẖaṛī muhu moṛī▫ai.
God is the giver of the peace and the Lord of all the things. From His meditation, why should we turn our away, even for a moment and trice?

ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਹੋਏ ਨਿਤ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਬਹੀਐ ਮੁਹੁ ਜੋੜੀਐ ॥
जिनि हरि धिआइआ तिस नो सरब कलिआण होए नित संत जना की संगति जाइ बहीऐ मुहु जोड़ीऐ ॥
Jin har ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā ṯis no sarab kali▫āṇ ho▫e niṯ sanṯ janā kī sangaṯ jā▫e bahī▫ai muhu joṛī▫ai.
He, who remembers God obtains all the comforts. We should daily go, sit and associate with the society of the pious persons.

ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਰੋਗ ਗਏ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜੀਐ ॥
सभि दुख भुख रोग गए हरि सेवक के सभि जन के बंधन तोड़ीऐ ॥
Sabẖ ḏukẖ bẖukẖ rog ga▫e har sevak ke sabẖ jan ke banḏẖan ṯoṛī▫ai.
All woes, privations and diseases of God's slave are eradicated and bonds of the saints are torn asunder.

ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਆ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਡਿਠੈ ਜਗਤੁ ਤਰਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਲੋੜੀਐ ॥੪॥
हरि किरपा ते होआ हरि भगतु हरि भगत जना कै मुहि डिठै जगतु तरिआ सभु लोड़ीऐ ॥४॥
Har kirpā ṯe ho▫ā har bẖagaṯ har bẖagaṯ janā kai muhi diṯẖai jagaṯ ṯari▫ā sabẖ loṛī▫ai. ||4||
By God's grace, one becomes God's devotee. The entire world ought to be saved by seeing the face of the Lord's pious person.

Slok, 3rd Guru.
|
ਸਾ ਰਸਨਾ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਉ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਉ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
सा रसना जलि जाउ जिनि हरि का सुआउ न पाइआ ॥
Sā rasnā jal jā▫o jin har kā su▫ā▫o na pā▫i▫ā.
May that tongue be burnt, which has not received the relish of Lord's name.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰਸਨਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਸਾਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
नानक रसना सबदि रसाइ जिनि हरि हरि मंनि वसाइआ ॥१॥
Nānak rasnā sabaḏ rasā▫e jin har har man vasā▫i▫ā. ||1||
Nanak, the tongue of him, who enshrines the Lord God in his mind, enjoys the taste of the Name.

|
ਸਾ ਰਸਨਾ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਉ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ॥
सा रसना जलि जाउ जिनि हरि का नाउ विसारिआ ॥
Sā rasnā jal jā▫o jin har kā nā▫o visāri▫ā.
Burnt be the tongue, which has forgotten the Name of God.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ॥੨॥
नानक गुरमुखि रसना हरि जपै हरि कै नाइ पिआरिआ ॥२॥
Nānak gurmukẖ rasnā har japai har kai nā▫e pi▫āri▫ā. ||2||
Nanak, the tongue of the Guru-ware utters the Lord's Name and professes love for His Name.

|
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
हरि आपे ठाकुरु सेवकु भगतु हरि आपे करे कराए ॥
Har āpe ṯẖākur sevak bẖagaṯ har āpe kare karā▫e.
God Himself is the Lord, an attendant and a devotee. God Himself does and causes others to do.
|
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਆਪੇ ਜਿਤੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
हरि आपे वेखै विगसै आपे जितु भावै तितु लाए ॥
Har āpe vekẖai vigsai āpe jiṯ bẖāvai ṯiṯ lā▫e.
God Himself beholds and Himself rejoices. As He wills, so does He engage the mortals in their tasks.
|
ਹਰਿ ਇਕਨਾ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਇਕਨਾ ਉਝੜਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
हरि इकना मारगि पाए आपे हरि इकना उझड़ि पाए ॥
Har iknā mārag pā▫e āpe har iknā ujẖaṛ pā▫e.
Some the Lord Himself puts on the right path and some the Lord leads astray into the wilderness.
|
ਹਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਤਪਾਵਸੁ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਚਲਤ ਸਬਾਏ ॥
हरि सचा साहिबु सचु तपावसु करि वेखै चलत सबाए ॥
Har sacẖā sāhib sacẖ ṯapāvas kar vekẖai cẖalaṯ sabā▫e.
God is the True Lord and true is His justice. He arranges and beholds all His plays.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਹੈ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੫॥
गुर परसादि कहै जनु नानकु हरि सचे के गुण गाए ॥५॥
Gur parsāḏ kahai jan Nānak har sacẖe ke guṇ gā▫e. ||5||
By Guru's grace, serf Nanak utters and sings the praise of the True Lord.

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥

ਦਰਵੇਸੀ ਕੋ ਜਾਣਸੀ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋ ਦਰਵੇਸੁ ॥
दरवेसी को जाणसी विरला को दरवेसु ॥
Ḏarvesī ko jāṇsī virlā ko ḏarves.
Rare is the one who understands saintliness, and there are but few saints.
|
ਜੇ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਹੰਢੈ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਧਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਧਿਗੁ ਵੇਸੁ ॥
जे घरि घरि हंढै मंगदा धिगु जीवणु धिगु वेसु ॥
Je gẖar gẖar handẖai mangḏā ḏẖig jīvaṇ ḏẖig ves.
Accursed is the life and accursed his garb, who wanders about begging from houses to house.
|
ਜੇ ਆਸਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਤਜਿ ਰਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਿਖਿਆ ਨਾਉ ॥
जे आसा अंदेसा तजि रहै गुरमुखि भिखिआ नाउ ॥
Je āsā anḏesā ṯaj rahai gurmukẖ bẖikẖi▫ā nā▫o.
If he abandons hope and anxiety and receives the Name as his alms, through the Guru,
|
ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਪਖਾਲੀਅਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥੧॥
तिस के चरन पखालीअहि नानक हउ बलिहारै जाउ ॥१॥
Ŧis ke cẖaran pakẖālī▫ah Nānak ha▫o balihārai jā▫o. ||1||
Nanak washes his feet and is a sacrifice unto him.
|

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਫਲੁ ਦੁਇ ਪੰਖੇਰੂ ਆਹਿ ॥
नानक तरवरु एकु फलु दुइ पंखेरू आहि ॥
Nānak ṯarvar ek fal ḏu▫e pankẖerū āhi.
Nanak, thou world-tree bears the fruit of love for mammon and upon it perch two birds (Guru-ward and self-ward persons.)
|
ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਦੀਸਹੀ ਨਾ ਪਰ ਪੰਖੀ ਤਾਹਿ ॥
आवत जात न दीसही ना पर पंखी ताहि ॥
Āvaṯ jāṯ na ḏīshī nā par pankẖī ṯāhi.
These birds have no wings and are not seen while coming and going.
|
ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੀ ਰਸ ਭੋਗਿਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
बहु रंगी रस भोगिआ सबदि रहै निरबाणु ॥
Baho rangī ras bẖogi▫ā sabaḏ rahai nirbāṇ.
The self ward enjoys the pleasures, while the other remain detached through the word of the Guru.
|
ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਫਲਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਕਰਮਿ ਸਚਾ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੨॥
हरि रसि फलि राते नानका करमि सचा नीसाणु ॥२॥
Har ras fal rāṯe nānkā karam sacẖā nīsāṇ. ||2||
Imbued with the Nectar of the fruit of God's Name, the soul bears the true mark of God's grace, O Nanak.

ਆਪੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਆਪੇ ਹੈ ਰਾਹਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਜੰਮਾਇ ਪੀਸਾਵੈ ॥
आपे धरती आपे है राहकु आपि जमाइ पीसावै ॥
Āpe ḏẖarṯī āpe hai rāhak āp jammā▫e pīsāvai.
The Lord Himself is the field, Himself the farmer and Himself He, grows and grinds the corn.
|
ਆਪਿ ਪਕਾਵੈ ਆਪਿ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਦੇਇ ਪਰੋਸੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਬਹਿ ਖਾਵੈ ॥
आपि पकावै आपि भांडे देइ परोसै आपे ही बहि खावै ॥
Āp pakāvai āp bẖāʼnde ḏe▫e parosai āpe hī bahi kẖāvai.
Himself He cooks and Himself He gives dishes and puts food in them and He Himself sits down to eat it.
