ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਵਾਕਿ
हरि जीउ सबदि पछाणीऐ साचि रते गुर वाकि ॥
Har jī▫o sabaḏ pacẖẖāṇī▫ai sācẖ raṯe gur vāk.
Through the Shabad, they recognize the Dear Lord; through the Guru's Word, they are attuned to Truth.

ਤਿਤੁ ਤਨਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਲਗਈ ਸਚ ਘਰਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਓਤਾਕੁ
तितु तनि मैलु न लगई सच घरि जिसु ओताकु ॥
Ŧiṯ ṯan mail na lag▫ī sacẖ gẖar jis oṯāk.
Filth does not stick to the body of one who has secured a dwelling in his True Home.

ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਕਿਆ ਸਾਕੁ ॥੫॥
नदरि करे सचु पाईऐ बिनु नावै किआ साकु ॥५॥
Naḏar kare sacẖ pā▫ī▫ai bin nāvai ki▫ā sāk. ||5||
When the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, we obtain the True Name. Without the Name, who are our relatives? ||5||

ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਸੇ ਸੁਖੀਏ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰਿ
जिनी सचु पछाणिआ से सुखीए जुग चारि ॥
Jinī sacẖ pacẖẖāṇi▫ā se sukẖī▫e jug cẖār.
Those who have realized the Truth are at peace throughout the four ages.

ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਸਚੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ
हउमै त्रिसना मारि कै सचु रखिआ उर धारि ॥
Ha▫umai ṯarisnā mār kai sacẖ rakẖi▫ā ur ḏẖār.
Subduing their egotism and desires, they keep the True Name enshrined in their hearts.

ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੬॥
जग महि लाहा एकु नामु पाईऐ गुर वीचारि ॥६॥
Jag mėh lāhā ek nām pā▫ī▫ai gur vīcẖār. ||6||
In this world, the only real profit is the Name of the One Lord; it is earned by contemplating the Guru. ||6||

ਸਾਚਉ ਵਖਰੁ ਲਾਦੀਐ ਲਾਭੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਰਾਸਿ
साचउ वखरु लादीऐ लाभु सदा सचु रासि ॥
Sācẖa▫o vakẖar lāḏī▫ai lābẖ saḏā sacẖ rās.
Loading the Merchandise of the True Name, you shall gather in your profits forever with the Capital of Truth.

ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਬੈਸਈ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਚੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ
साची दरगह बैसई भगति सची अरदासि ॥
Sācẖī ḏargėh bais▫ī bẖagaṯ sacẖī arḏās.
In the Court of the True One, you shall sit in truthful devotion and prayer.

ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਲੇਖਾ ਨਿਬੜੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੭॥
पति सिउ लेखा निबड़ै राम नामु परगासि ॥७॥
Paṯ si▫o lekẖā nibṛai rām nām pargās. ||7||
Your account shall be settled with honor, in the Radiant Light of the Name of the Lord. ||7||

ਊਚਾ ਊਚਉ ਆਖੀਐ ਕਹਉ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਇ
ऊचा ऊचउ आखीऐ कहउ न देखिआ जाइ ॥
Ūcẖā ūcẖa▫o ākẖī▫ai kaha▫o na ḏekẖi▫ā jā▫e.
The Lord is said to be the Highest of the High; no one can perceive Him.

ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਏਕੁ ਤੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਇ
जह देखा तह एकु तूं सतिगुरि दीआ दिखाइ ॥
Jah ḏekẖā ṯah ek ṯūʼn saṯgur ḏī▫ā ḏikẖā▫e.
Wherever I look, I see only You. The True Guru has inspired me to see You.

ਜੋਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੮॥੩॥
जोति निरंतरि जाणीऐ नानक सहजि सुभाइ ॥८॥३॥
Joṯ niranṯar jāṇī▫ai Nānak sahj subẖā▫e. ||8||3||
The Divine Light within is revealed, O Nanak, through this intuitive understanding. ||8||3||

ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ
सिरीरागु महला १ ॥
Sirīrāg mėhlā 1.
Siree Raag, First Mehl:

ਮਛੁਲੀ ਜਾਲੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਸਰੁ ਖਾਰਾ ਅਸਗਾਹੁ
मछुली जालु न जाणिआ सरु खारा असगाहु ॥
Macẖẖulī jāl na jāṇi▫ā sar kẖārā asgāhu.
The fish did not notice the net in the deep and salty sea.

ਅਤਿ ਸਿਆਣੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਕਿਉ ਕੀਤੋ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ
अति सिआणी सोहणी किउ कीतो वेसाहु ॥
Aṯ si▫āṇī sohṇī ki▫o kīṯo vesāhu.
It was so clever and beautiful, but why was it so confident?

ਕੀਤੇ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਪਾਕੜੀ ਕਾਲੁ ਟਲੈ ਸਿਰਾਹੁ ॥੧॥
कीते कारणि पाकड़ी कालु न टलै सिराहु ॥१॥
Kīṯe kāraṇ pākṛī kāl na talai sirāhu. ||1||
By its actions it was caught, and now death cannot be turned away from its head. ||1||

ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਇਉ ਸਿਰਿ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਕਾਲੁ
भाई रे इउ सिरि जाणहु कालु ॥
Bẖā▫ī re i▫o sir jāṇhu kāl.
O Siblings of Destiny, just like this, see death hovering over your own heads!

ਜਿਉ ਮਛੀ ਤਿਉ ਮਾਣਸਾ ਪਵੈ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ਜਾਲੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
जिउ मछी तिउ माणसा पवै अचिंता जालु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ji▫o macẖẖī ṯi▫o māṇsā pavai acẖinṯā jāl. ||1|| rahā▫o.
People are just like this fish; unaware, the noose of death descends upon them. ||1||Pause||

ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਬਾਧੋ ਕਾਲ ਕੋ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਲੁ ਅਫਾਰੁ
सभु जगु बाधो काल को बिनु गुर कालु अफारु ॥
Sabẖ jag bāḏẖo kāl ko bin gur kāl afār.
The whole world is bound by death; without the Guru, death cannot be avoided.

ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਛੋਡਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ
सचि रते से उबरे दुबिधा छोडि विकार ॥
Sacẖ raṯe se ubre ḏubiḏẖā cẖẖod vikār.
Those who are attuned to Truth are saved; they renounce duality and corruption.

ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਚਿਆਰ ॥੨॥
हउ तिन कै बलिहारणै दरि सचै सचिआर ॥२॥
Ha▫o ṯin kai balihārṇai ḏar sacẖai sacẖiār. ||2||
I am a sacrifice to those who are found to be Truthful in the True Court. ||2||

ਸੀਚਾਨੇ ਜਿਉ ਪੰਖੀਆ ਜਾਲੀ ਬਧਿਕ ਹਾਥਿ
सीचाने जिउ पंखीआ जाली बधिक हाथि ॥
Sīcẖāne ji▫o pankẖī▫ā jālī baḏẖik hāth.
Think of the hawk preying on the birds, and the net in the hands of the hunter.

ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਹੋਰਿ ਫਾਥੇ ਚੋਗੈ ਸਾਥਿ
गुरि राखे से उबरे होरि फाथे चोगै साथि ॥
Gur rākẖe se ubre hor fāthe cẖogai sāth.
Those who are protected by the Guru are saved; the others are caught by the bait.

ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਚੁਣਿ ਸੁਟੀਅਹਿ ਕੋਇ ਸੰਗੀ ਸਾਥਿ ॥੩॥
बिनु नावै चुणि सुटीअहि कोइ न संगी साथि ॥३॥
Bin nāvai cẖuṇ sutī▫ah ko▫e na sangī sāth. ||3||
Without the Name, they are picked up and thrown away; they have no friends or companions. ||3||

ਸਚੋ ਸਚਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਾ ਥਾਨੁ
सचो सचा आखीऐ सचे सचा थानु ॥
Sacẖo sacẖā ākẖī▫ai sacẖe sacẖā thān.
God is said to be the Truest of the True; His Place is the Truest of the True.

ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ
जिनी सचा मंनिआ तिन मनि सचु धिआनु ॥
Jinī sacẖā mani▫ā ṯin man sacẖ ḏẖi▫ān.
Those who obey the True One-their minds abide in true meditation.

ਮਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਸੂਚੇ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥੪॥
मनि मुखि सूचे जाणीअहि गुरमुखि जिना गिआनु ॥४॥
Man mukẖ sūcẖe jāṇī▫ahi gurmukẖ jinā gi▫ān. ||4||
Those who become Gurmukh, and obtain spiritual wisdom-their minds and mouths are known to be pure. ||4||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਗੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਮਿਲਾਇ
सतिगुर अगै अरदासि करि साजनु देइ मिलाइ ॥
Saṯgur agai arḏās kar sājan ḏe▫e milā▫e.
Offer your most sincere prayers to the True Guru, so that He may unite you with your Best Friend.

ਸਾਜਨਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ
साजनि मिलिऐ सुखु पाइआ जमदूत मुए बिखु खाइ ॥
Sājan mili▫ai sukẖ pā▫i▫ā jamḏūṯ mu▫e bikẖ kẖā▫e.
Meeting your Best Friend, you shall find peace; the Messenger of Death shall take poison and die.

ਨਾਵੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹਉ ਵਸਾਂ ਨਾਉ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੫॥
नावै अंदरि हउ वसां नाउ वसै मनि आइ ॥५॥
Nāvai anḏar ha▫o vasāʼn nā▫o vasai man ā▫e. ||5||
I dwell deep within the Name; the Name has come to dwell within my mind. ||5||

ਬਾਝੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਬੂਝ ਪਾਇ
बाझु गुरू गुबारु है बिनु सबदै बूझ न पाइ ॥
Bājẖ gurū gubār hai bin sabḏai būjẖ na pā▫e.
Without the Guru, there is only pitch darkness; without the Shabad, understanding is not obtained.

ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ
गुरमती परगासु होइ सचि रहै लिव लाइ ॥
Gurmaṯī pargās ho▫e sacẖ rahai liv lā▫e.
Through the Guru's Teachings, you shall be enlightened; remain absorbed in the Love of the True Lord.

ਤਿਥੈ ਕਾਲੁ ਸੰਚਰੈ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੬॥
तिथै कालु न संचरै जोती जोति समाइ ॥६॥
Ŧithai kāl na sancẖrai joṯī joṯ samā▫e. ||6||
Death does not go there; your light shall merge with the Light. ||6||

ਤੂੰਹੈ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਣਹਾਰੁ
तूंहै साजनु तूं सुजाणु तूं आपे मेलणहारु ॥
Ŧūʼnhai sājan ṯūʼn sujāṇ ṯūʼn āpe melaṇhār.
You are my Best Friend; You are All-knowing. You are the One who unites us with Yourself.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਅੰਤੁ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ
गुर सबदी सालाहीऐ अंतु न पारावारु ॥
Gur sabḏī salāhī▫ai anṯ na pārāvār.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, we praise You; You have no end or limitation.

ਤਿਥੈ ਕਾਲੁ ਅਪੜੈ ਜਿਥੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੭॥
तिथै कालु न अपड़ै जिथै गुर का सबदु अपारु ॥७॥
Ŧithai kāl na apṛai jithai gur kā sabaḏ apār. ||7||
Death does not reach that place, where the Infinite Word of the Guru's Shabad resounds. ||7||

ਹੁਕਮੀ ਸਭੇ ਊਪਜਹਿ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਹਿ
हुकमी सभे ऊपजहि हुकमी कार कमाहि ॥
Hukmī sabẖe ūpjahi hukmī kār kamāhi.
By the Hukam of His Command, all are created. By His Command, actions are performed.

ਹੁਕਮੀ ਕਾਲੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ
हुकमी कालै वसि है हुकमी साचि समाहि ॥
Hukmī kālai vas hai hukmī sācẖ samāhi.
By His Command, all are subject to death; by His Command, they merge in Truth.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਇਨਾ ਜੰਤਾ ਵਸਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੮॥੪॥
नानक जो तिसु भावै सो थीऐ इना जंता वसि किछु नाहि ॥८॥४॥
Nānak jo ṯis bẖāvai so thī▫ai inā janṯā vas kicẖẖ nāhi. ||8||4||
O Nanak, whatever pleases His Will comes to pass. Nothing is in the hands of these beings. ||8||4||

ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ
सिरीरागु महला १ ॥

ਮਨਿ ਜੂਠੈ ਤਨਿ ਜੂਠਿ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਜੂਠੀ ਹੋਇ
मनि जूठै तनि जूठि है जिहवा जूठी होइ ॥
Man jūṯẖai ṯan jūṯẖ hai jihvā jūṯẖī ho▫e.
If the mind is polluted, then the body is polluted, and the tongue is polluted as well.
