ਰਾਜਨ ਕਿਉ ਸੋਇਆ ਤੂ ਨੀਦ ਭਰੇ ਜਾਗਤ ਕਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
राजन किउ सोइआ तू नीद भरे जागत कत नाही राम ॥
Rājan ki▫o so▫i▫ā ṯū nīḏ bẖare jāgaṯ kaṯ nāhī rām.
O king, why are you sleeping? Why don't you wake up to reality?

ਮਾਇਆ ਝੂਠੁ ਰੁਦਨੁ ਕੇਤੇ ਬਿਲਲਾਹੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
माइआ झूठु रुदनु केते बिललाही राम ॥
Mā▫i▫ā jẖūṯẖ ruḏan keṯe billāhī rām.
It is useless to cry and whine about Maya, but so many cry out and bewail.

ਬਿਲਲਾਹਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ॥
बिललाहि केते महा मोहन बिनु नाम हरि के सुखु नही ॥
Billāhi keṯe mahā mohan bin nām har ke sukẖ nahī.
So many cry out for Maya, the great enticer, but without the Name of the Lord, there is no peace.

ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਉਪਾਵ ਥਾਕੇ ਜਹ ਭਾਵਤ ਤਹ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
सहस सिआणप उपाव थाके जह भावत तह जाही ॥
Sahas si▫āṇap upāv thāke jah bẖāvaṯ ṯah jāhī.
Thousands of clever tricks and efforts will not succeed. One goes wherever the Lord wills him to go.

ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤੇ ਮਧਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਆਹੀ ॥
आदि अंते मधि पूरन सरबत्र घटि घटि आही ॥
Āḏ anṯe maḏẖ pūran sarbaṯar gẖat gẖat āhī.
In the beginning, in the middle, and in the end, He is all-pervading everywhere; He is in each and every heart.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਮੁ ਸੇ ਪਤਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
बिनवंत नानक जिन साधसंगमु से पति सेती घरि जाही ॥२॥
Binvanṯ Nānak jin sāḏẖsangam se paṯ seṯī gẖar jāhī. ||2||
Prays Nanak, those who join the Saadh Sangat go to the house of the Lord with honor. ||2||

ਨਰਪਤਿ ਜਾਣਿ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਓ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
नरपति जाणि ग्रहिओ सेवक सिआणे राम ॥
Narpaṯ jāṇ garahi▫o sevak si▫āṇe rām.
O king of mortals, know that your palaces and wise servants shall be of no use in the end.

ਸਰਪਰ ਵੀਛੁੜਣਾ ਮੋਹੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
सरपर वीछुड़णा मोहे पछुताणे राम ॥
Sarpar vīcẖẖuṛaṇā mohe pacẖẖuṯāṇe rām.
You shall certainly have to separate yourself from them, and their attachment shall make you feel regret.

ਹਰਿਚੰਦਉਰੀ ਦੇਖਿ ਭੂਲਾ ਕਹਾ ਅਸਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
हरिचंदउरी देखि भूला कहा असथिति पाईऐ ॥
Haricẖanḏ▫urī ḏekẖ bẖūlā kahā asthiṯ pā▫ī▫ai.
Beholding the phantom city, you have gone astray; how can you now find stability?

ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਆਨ ਰਚਨਾ ਅਹਿਲਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥
बिनु नाम हरि के आन रचना अहिला जनमु गवाईऐ ॥
Bin nām har ke ān racẖnā ahilā janam gavā▫ī▫ai.
Absorbed in things other than the Name of the Lord, this human life is wasted in vain.

ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤ ਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੂਝੈ ਨਹ ਕਾਂਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਗਿਆਨੇ ॥
हउ हउ करत न त्रिसन बूझै नह कांम पूरन गिआने ॥
Ha▫o ha▫o karaṯ na ṯarisan būjẖai nah kāʼnm pūran gi▫āne.
Indulging in egotistical actions, your thirst is not quenched. Your desires are not fulfilled, and you do not attain spiritual wisdom.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਕੇਤਿਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਨੇ ॥੩॥
बिनवंति नानक बिनु नाम हरि के केतिआ पछुताने ॥३॥
Binvanṯ Nānak bin nām har ke keṯi▫ā pacẖẖuṯāne. ||3||
Prays Nanak, without the Name of the Lord, so many have departed with regret. ||3||

ਧਾਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੋ ਅਪਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
धारि अनुग्रहो अपना करि लीना राम ॥
Ḏẖār anugraho apnā kar līnā rām.
Showering His blessings, the Lord has made me His own.

ਭੁਜਾ ਗਹਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੀਓ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਦੀਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
भुजा गहि काढि लीओ साधू संगु दीना राम ॥
Bẖujā gėh kādẖ lī▫o sāḏẖū sang ḏīnā rām.
Grasping me by the arm, He has pulled me out of the mud, and He has blessed me with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਮਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਰਾਧੇ ਸਗਲ ਕਲਮਲ ਦੁਖ ਜਲੇ ॥
साधसंगमि हरि अराधे सगल कलमल दुख जले ॥
Sāḏẖsangam har arāḏẖe sagal kalmal ḏukẖ jale.
Worshipping the Lord in the Saadh Sangat, all my sins and sufferings are burnt away.

ਮਹਾ ਧਰਮ ਸੁਦਾਨ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਸੇ ਚਲੇ ॥
महा धरम सुदान किरिआ संगि तेरै से चले ॥
Mahā ḏẖaram suḏān kiri▫ā sang ṯerai se cẖale.
This is the greatest religion, and the best act of charity; this alone shall go along with you.

ਰਸਨਾ ਅਰਾਧੈ ਏਕੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਭੀਨਾ ॥
रसना अराधै एकु सुआमी हरि नामि मनु तनु भीना ॥
Rasnā arāḏẖai ek su▫āmī har nām man ṯan bẖīnā.
My tongue chants in adoration the Name of the One Lord and Master; my mind and body are drenched in the Lord's Name.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸੋ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਬੀਨਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੯॥
नानक जिस नो हरि मिलाए सो सरब गुण परबीना ॥४॥६॥९॥
Nānak jis no har milā▫e so sarab guṇ parbīnā. ||4||6||9||
O Nanak, whoever the Lord unites with Himself, is filled with all virtues. ||4||6||9||

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਹੋਰ ਥੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਭਾਲਿ ॥
गुर सेवा ते सुखु पाईऐ होर थै सुखु न भालि ॥
Gur sevā ṯe sukẖ pā▫ī▫ai hor thai sukẖ na bẖāl.
Serving the Guru, peace is obtained; do not search for peace anywhere else.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਭੇਦੀਐ ਸਦਾ ਵਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
गुर कै सबदि मनु भेदीऐ सदा वसै हरि नालि ॥
Gur kai sabaḏ man bẖeḏī▫ai saḏā vasai har nāl.
The soul is pierced by the Word of the Guru's Shabad. The Lord dwells ever with the soul.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥੧॥
नानक नामु तिना कउ मिलै जिन हरि वेखै नदरि निहालि ॥१॥
Nānak nām ṯinā ka▫o milai jin har vekẖai naḏar nihāl. ||1||
O Nanak, they alone obtain the Naam, the Name of the Lord, who are blessed by the Lord with His Glance of Grace. ||1||

ਸਿਫਤਿ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਬਖਸ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਖਸੈ ਸੋ ਖਰਚੈ ਖਾਇ ॥
सिफति खजाना बखस है जिसु बखसै सो खरचै खाइ ॥
Sifaṯ kẖajānā bakẖas hai jis bakẖsai so kẖarcẖai kẖā▫e.
The treasure of the Lord's Praise is such a blessed gift; he alone obtains it to spend, unto whom the Lord bestows it.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਥਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਸਭ ਥਕੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
सतिगुर बिनु हथि न आवई सभ थके करम कमाइ ॥
Saṯgur bin hath na āvī sabẖ thake karam kamā▫e.
Without the True Guru, it does not come to hand; all have grown weary of performing religious rituals.

ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਧਨਹੀਣੁ ਹੈ ਅਗੈ ਭੁਖਾ ਕਿ ਖਾਇ ॥੨॥
नानक मनमुखु जगतु धनहीणु है अगै भुखा कि खाइ ॥२॥
Nānak manmukẖ jagaṯ ḏẖanhīṇ hai agai bẖukẖā kė kẖā▫e. ||2||
O Nanak, the self-willed manmukhs of the world lack this wealth; when they are hungry in the next world, what will they have to eat there? ||2||

ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੂ ਸਭਸ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੁਧੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
सभ तेरी तू सभस दा सभ तुधु उपाइआ ॥
Sabẖ ṯerī ṯū sabẖas ḏā sabẖ ṯuḏẖ upā▫i▫ā.
All are Yours and You belong to all. You created all.
|
ਸਭਨਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਤੂ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਤੂ ਸਭਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
सभना विचि तू वरतदा तू सभनी धिआइआ ॥
Sabẖnā vicẖ ṯū varaṯḏā ṯū sabẖnī ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā.
You are pervading within all - all meditate on You.
|
ਤਿਸ ਦੀ ਤੂ ਭਗਤਿ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਇਹਿ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
तिस दी तू भगति थाइ पाइहि जो तुधु मनि भाइआ ॥
Ŧis ḏī ṯū bẖagaṯ thā▫e pā▫ihi jo ṯuḏẖ man bẖā▫i▫ā.
You accept the devotional worship of those who are pleasing to Your Mind.

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਸਭਿ ਕਰਨਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਰਾਇਆ ॥
जो हरि प्रभ भावै सो थीऐ सभि करनि तेरा कराइआ ॥
Jo har parabẖ bẖāvai so thī▫ai sabẖ karan ṯerā karā▫i▫ā.
Whatever pleases the Lord God happens; all act as You cause them to act.

ਸਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਤੇ ਵਡਾ ਜੋ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
सलाहिहु हरि सभना ते वडा जो संत जनां की पैज रखदा आइआ ॥१॥
Salāhihu har sabẖnā ṯe vadā jo sanṯ janāʼn kī paij rakẖ▫ḏā ā▫i▫ā. ||1||
Praise the Lord, the greatest of all; He preserves the honor of the Saints. ||1||

ਨਾਨਕ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਤਾ ਜਗਿ ਜੀਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
नानक गिआनी जगु जीता जगि जीता सभु कोइ ॥
Nānak gi▫ānī jag jīṯā jag jīṯā sabẖ ko▫e.
O Nanak, the spiritually wise one has conquered all others.

ਨਾਮੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਿਧਿ ਹੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
नामे कारज सिधि है सहजे होइ सु होइ ॥
Nāme kāraj siḏẖ hai sėhje ho▫e so ho▫e.
Through the Name, his affairs are brought to perfection; whatever happens is by His Will.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਤਿ ਅਚਲੁ ਹੈ ਚਲਾਇ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
गुरमति मति अचलु है चलाइ न सकै कोइ ॥
Gurmaṯ maṯ acẖal hai cẖalā▫e na sakai ko▫e.
Under Guru's Instruction, his mind is held steady; no one can make him waver.

ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
भगता का हरि अंगीकारु करे कारजु सुहावा होइ ॥
Bẖagṯā kā har angīkār kare kāraj suhāvā ho▫e.
The Lord makes His devotee His own, and his affairs are adjusted.
