ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਣੁ ਬੁਝਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਦਾ ॥
सभु किछु जाणै जाणु बुझि वीचारदा ॥
Sabẖ kicẖẖ jāṇai jāṇ bujẖ vīcẖārḏā.
The Knower knows everything; He understands and contemplates.
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਧਾਰਦਾ ॥
अनिक रूप खिन माहि कुदरति धारदा ॥
Anik rūp kẖin māhi kuḏraṯ ḏẖārḏā.
By His creative power, He assumes numerous forms in an instant.
|
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਾਇ ਸਚਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਉਧਾਰਦਾ ॥
जिस नो लाइ सचि तिसहि उधारदा ॥
Jis no lā▫e sacẖ ṯisėh uḏẖārḏā.
One whom the Lord attaches to the Truth is redeemed.
|
ਜਿਸ ਦੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਵਲਿ ਸੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹਾਰਦਾ ॥
जिस दै होवै वलि सु कदे न हारदा ॥
Jis ḏai hovai val so kaḏe na hārḏā.
One who has God on his side is never conquered.
|
ਸਦਾ ਅਭਗੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਦਾ ॥੪॥
सदा अभगु दीबाणु है हउ तिसु नमसकारदा ॥४॥
Saḏā abẖag ḏībāṇ hai ha▫o ṯis namaskārḏā. ||4||
His Court is eternal and imperishable; I humbly bow to Him. ||4||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਦੀਜੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥
कामु क्रोधु लोभु छोडीऐ दीजै अगनि जलाइ ॥
Kām kroḏẖ lobẖ cẖẖodī▫ai ḏījai agan jalā▫e.
Renounce sexual desire, anger and greed, and burn them in the fire.
|
ਜੀਵਦਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਜਾਪੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥
जीवदिआ नित जापीऐ नानक साचा नाउ ॥१॥
Jīvḏi▫ā niṯ jāpī▫ai Nānak sācẖā nā▫o. ||1||
As long as you are alive, O Nanak, meditate continually on the True Name. ||1||

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਭ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਆਹਿ ॥
सिमरत सिमरत प्रभु आपणा सभ फल पाए आहि ॥
Simraṯ simraṯ parabẖ āpṇā sabẖ fal pā▫e āhi.
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on my God, I have obtained all the fruits.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਆ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
नानक नामु अराधिआ गुर पूरै दीआ मिलाइ ॥२॥
Nānak nām arāḏẖi▫ā gur pūrai ḏī▫ā milā▫e. ||2||
O Nanak, I worship the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the Perfect Guru has united me with the Lord. ||2||

ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ॥
सो मुकता संसारि जि गुरि उपदेसिआ ॥
So mukṯā sansār jė gur upḏesi▫ā.
One who has been instructed by the Guru is liberated in this world.
|
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਈ ਬਲਾਇ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸਿਆ ॥
तिस की गई बलाइ मिटे अंदेसिआ ॥
Ŧis kī ga▫ī balā▫e mite anḏesi▫ā.
He avoids disaster, and his anxiety is dispelled.
|
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
तिस का दरसनु देखि जगतु निहालु होइ ॥
Ŧis kā ḏarsan ḏekẖ jagaṯ nihāl ho▫e.
Beholding the blessed vision of his Darshan, the world is overjoyed.
|
ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਪਾਪਾ ਮੈਲੁ ਧੋਇ ॥
जन कै संगि निहालु पापा मैलु धोइ ॥
Jan kai sang nihāl pāpā mail ḏẖo▫e.
In the company of the Lord's humble servants, the world is overjoyed, and the filth of sin is washed away.
|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ਓਥੈ ਜਾਪੀਐ ॥
अम्रितु साचा नाउ ओथै जापीऐ ॥
Amriṯ sācẖā nā▫o othai jāpī▫ai.
There, they meditate on the Ambrosial Nectar of the True Name.

ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਭੁਖਾ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੀਐ ॥
मन कउ होइ संतोखु भुखा ध्रापीऐ ॥
Man ka▫o ho▫e sanṯokẖ bẖukẖā ḏẖarāpī▫ai.
The mind becomes content, and its hunger is satisfied.
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਘਟਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਨਾਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੀਐ ॥
जिसु घटि वसिआ नाउ तिसु बंधन काटीऐ ॥
Jis gẖat vasi▫ā nā▫o ṯis banḏẖan kātī▫ai.
One whose heart is filled with the Name, has his bonds cut away.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟੀਐ ॥੫॥
गुर परसादि किनै विरलै हरि धनु खाटीऐ ॥५॥
Gur parsāḏ kinai virlai har ḏẖan kẖātī▫ai. ||5||
By Guru's Grace, some rare person earns the wealth of the Lord's Name. ||5||

ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਚਿਤਵਨੀ ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਉ ਉਠਿ ਨੀਤ ॥
मन महि चितवउ चितवनी उदमु करउ उठि नीत ॥
Man mėh cẖiṯva▫o cẖiṯvanī uḏam kara▫o uṯẖ nīṯ.
Within my mind, I think thoughts of always rising early, and making the effort.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕਾ ਆਹਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥
हरि कीरतन का आहरो हरि देहु नानक के मीत ॥१॥
Har kīrṯan kā āhro har ḏeh Nānak ke mīṯ. ||1||
O Lord, my Friend, please bless Nanak with the habit of singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. ||1||

ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਮੂਲਿ ॥
द्रिसटि धारि प्रभि राखिआ मनु तनु रता मूलि ॥
Ḏarisat ḏẖār parabẖ rākẖi▫ā man ṯan raṯā mūl.
Casting His Glance of Grace, God has saved me; my mind and body are imbued with the Primal Being.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣੀਆ ਮਰਉ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ ਸੂਲਿ ॥੨॥
नानक जो प्रभ भाणीआ मरउ विचारी सूलि ॥२॥
Nānak jo parabẖ bẖāṇī▫ā mara▫o vicẖārī sūl. ||2||
O Nanak, those who are pleasing to God, have their cries of suffering taken away. ||2||

ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
जीअ की बिरथा होइ सु गुर पहि अरदासि करि ॥
Jī▫a kī birthā ho▫e so gur pėh arḏās kar.
When your soul is feeling sad, offer your prayers to the Guru.
|
ਛੋਡਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਿ ॥
छोडि सिआणप सगल मनु तनु अरपि धरि ॥
Cẖẖod si▫āṇap sagal man ṯan arap ḏẖar.
Renounce all your cleverness, and dedicate your mind and body to Him.
|
ਪੂਜਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੈਰ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਜਰਿ ॥
पूजहु गुर के पैर दुरमति जाइ जरि ॥
Pūjahu gur ke pair ḏurmaṯ jā▫e jar.
Worship the Feet of the Guru, and your evil-mindedness shall be burnt away.
|
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਤਰਿ ॥
साध जना कै संगि भवजलु बिखमु तरि ॥
Sāḏẖ janā kai sang bẖavjal bikẖam ṯar.
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall cross over the terrifying and difficult world-ocean.

ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਵ ਅਗੈ ਨ ਮਰਹੁ ਡਰਿ ॥
सेवहु सतिगुर देव अगै न मरहु डरि ॥
Sevhu saṯgur ḏev agai na marahu dar.
Serve the True Guru, and in the world hereafter, you shall not die of fear.
|
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਊਣੇ ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰਿ ॥
खिन महि करे निहालु ऊणे सुभर भरि ॥
Kẖin mėh kare nihāl ūṇe subẖar bẖar.
In an instant, he shall make you happy, and the empty vessel shall be filled to overflowing.
|
ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ॥
मन कउ होइ संतोखु धिआईऐ सदा हरि ॥
Man ka▫o ho▫e sanṯokẖ ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai saḏā har.
The mind becomes content, meditating forever on the Lord.
|
ਸੋ ਲਗਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਰਮੁ ਧੁਰਿ ॥੬॥
सो लगा सतिगुर सेव जा कउ करमु धुरि ॥६॥
So lagā saṯgur sev jā ka▫o karam ḏẖur. ||6||
He alone dedicates himself to the Guru's service, unto whom the Lord has granted His Grace. ||6||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:

ਲਗੜੀ ਸੁਥਾਨਿ ਜੋੜਣਹਾਰੈ ਜੋੜੀਆ ॥
लगड़ी सुथानि जोड़णहारै जोड़ीआ ॥
Lagṛī suthān joṛanhārai joṛī▫ā.
I am attached to the right place; the Uniter has united me.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਹਰੀ ਲਖ ਸੈ ਆਨ ਡੁਬਣ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੧॥
नानक लहरी लख सै आन डुबण देइ न मा पिरी ॥१॥
Nānak lahrī lakẖ sai ān dubaṇ ḏe▫e na mā pirī. ||1||
O Nanak, there are hundreds and thousands of waves, but my Husband Lord does not let me drown. ||1||

ਬਨਿ ਭੀਹਾਵਲੈ ਹਿਕੁ ਸਾਥੀ ਲਧਮੁ ਦੁਖ ਹਰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
बनि भीहावलै हिकु साथी लधमु दुख हरता हरि नामा ॥
Ban bẖīhāvalai hik sāthī laḏẖam ḏukẖ harṯā har nāmā.
In the dreadful wilderness, I have found the one and only companion; the Name of the Lord is the Destroyer of distress.
|
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮਾਂ ॥੨॥
बलि बलि जाई संत पिआरे नानक पूरन कामां ॥२॥
Bal bal jā▫ī sanṯ pi▫āre Nānak pūran kāmāʼn. ||2||
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Beloved Saints, O Nanak; through them, my affairs have been brought to fulfillment. ||2||

ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਿਆ ॥
पाईअनि सभि निधान तेरै रंगि रतिआ ॥
Pā▫ī▫an sabẖ niḏẖān ṯerai rang raṯi▫ā.
All treasures are obtained, when we are attuned to Your Love.
|
ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਪਛੋਤਾਉ ਤੁਧ ਨੋ ਜਪਤਿਆ ॥
न होवी पछोताउ तुध नो जपतिआ ॥
Na hovī pacẖẖoṯā▫o ṯuḏẖ no japṯi▫ā.
One does not have to suffer regret and repentance, when he meditates on You.
|
ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਜਨ ॥
पहुचि न सकै कोइ तेरी टेक जन ॥
Pahucẖ na sakai ko▫e ṯerī tek jan.
No one can equal Your humble servant, who has Your Support.

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਲਹਾ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ਮਨ ॥
गुर पूरे वाहु वाहु सुख लहा चितारि मन ॥
Gur pūre vāhu vāhu sukẖ lahā cẖiṯār man.
Waaho! Waaho! How wonderful is the Perfect Guru! Cherishing Him in my mind, I obtain peace.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
गुर पहि सिफति भंडारु करमी पाईऐ ॥
Gur pėh sifaṯ bẖandār karmī pā▫ī▫ai.
The treasure of the Lord's Praise comes from the Guru; by His Mercy, it is obtained.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਧਾਈਐ ॥
सतिगुर नदरि निहाल बहुड़ि न धाईऐ ॥
Saṯgur naḏar nihāl bahuṛ na ḏẖā▫ī▫ai.
When the True Guru bestows His Glance of Grace, one does not wander any more.
|
ਰਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਆਪਣੇ ॥
रखै आपि दइआलु करि दासा आपणे ॥
Rakẖai āp ḏa▫i▫āl kar ḏāsā āpṇe.
The Merciful Lord preserves him - He makes him His own slave.
|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣੇ ॥੭॥
हरि हरि हरि हरि नामु जीवा सुणि सुणे ॥७॥
Har har har har nām jīvā suṇ suṇe. ||7||
Listening, hearing the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har, I live. ||7||
