ੴ सति नामु करता पुरखु निरभउ निरवैरु अकाल मूरति अजूनी सैभं गुर प्रसादि ॥

ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰੀ ਚਨਣਾਠੀਆ ਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਉਰਸਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
तेरा नामु करी चनणाठीआ जे मनु उरसा होइ ॥
Ŧerā nām karī cẖanṇāṯẖī▫ā je man ursā ho▫e.
I would make Your Name the sandalwood, and my mind the stone to rub it on;

ਕਰਣੀ ਕੁੰਗੂ ਜੇ ਰਲੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
करणी कुंगू जे रलै घट अंतरि पूजा होइ ॥१॥
Karṇī kungū je ralai gẖat anṯar pūjā ho▫e. ||1||
for saffron, I would offer good deeds; thus, I perform worship and adoration within my heart. ||1||

ਪੂਜਾ ਕੀਚੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਪੂਜ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
पूजा कीचै नामु धिआईऐ बिनु नावै पूज न होइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Pūjā kīcẖai nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai bin nāvai pūj na ho▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Perform worship and adoration by meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; without the Name, there is no worship and adoration. ||1||Pause||

ਬਾਹਰਿ ਦੇਵ ਪਖਾਲੀਅਹਿ ਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਧੋਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
बाहरि देव पखालीअहि जे मनु धोवै कोइ ॥
Bāhar ḏev pakẖālī▫ah je man ḏẖovai ko▫e.
If one were to wash his heart inwardly, like the stone idol which is washed on the outside,

ਜੂਠਿ ਲਹੈ ਜੀਉ ਮਾਜੀਐ ਮੋਖ ਪਇਆਣਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
जूठि लहै जीउ माजीऐ मोख पइआणा होइ ॥२॥
Jūṯẖ lahai jī▫o mājī▫ai mokẖ pa▫i▫āṇā ho▫e. ||2||
his filth would be removed, his soul would be cleansed, and he would be liberated when he departs. ||2||

ਪਸੂ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ਖੜੁ ਖਾਵਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਦੇਹਿ ॥
पसू मिलहि चंगिआईआ खड़ु खावहि अम्रितु देहि ॥
Pasū milėh cẖang▫ā▫ī▫ā kẖaṛ kẖāvėh amriṯ ḏėh.
Even beasts have value, as they eat grass and give milk.

ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇਹਿ ॥੩॥
नाम विहूणे आदमी ध्रिगु जीवण करम करेहि ॥३॥
Nām vihūṇe āḏmī ḏẖarig jīvaṇ karam karehi. ||3||
Without the Naam, the mortal's life is cursed, as are the actions he performs. ||3||

ਨੇੜਾ ਹੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਿਅਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੇ ॥
नेड़ा है दूरि न जाणिअहु नित सारे सम्हाले ॥
Neṛā hai ḏūr na jāṇi▫ahu niṯ sāre samĥāle.
The Lord is hear at hand - do not think that He is far away. He always cherishes us, and remembers us.

ਜੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਖਾਵਣਾ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥੧॥
जो देवै सो खावणा कहु नानक साचा हे ॥४॥१॥
Jo ḏevai so kẖāvṇā kaho Nānak sācẖā he. ||4||1||
Whatever He gives us, we eat; says Nanak, He is the True Lord. ||4||1||

ਨਾਭਿ ਕਮਲ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਉਪਜੇ ਬੇਦ ਪੜਹਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਕੰਠਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
नाभि कमल ते ब्रहमा उपजे बेद पड़हि मुखि कंठि सवारि ॥
Nābẖ kamal ṯe barahmā upje beḏ paṛėh mukẖ kanṯẖ savār.
From the lotus of Vishnu's navel, Brahma was born; He chanted the Vedas with a melodious voice.

ਤਾ ਕੋ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਲਖਣਾ ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਰਹੈ ਗੁਬਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
ता को अंतु न जाई लखणा आवत जात रहै गुबारि ॥१॥
Ŧā ko anṯ na jā▫ī lakẖ▫ṇā āvaṯ jāṯ rahai gubār. ||1||
He could not find the Lord's limits, and he remained in the darkness of coming and going. ||1||
|
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
प्रीतम किउ बिसरहि मेरे प्राण अधार ॥
Parīṯam ki▫o bisrahi mere parāṇ aḏẖār.
Why should I forget my Beloved? He is the support of my very breath of life.

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जा की भगति करहि जन पूरे मुनि जन सेवहि गुर वीचारि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jā kī bẖagaṯ karahi jan pūre mun jan sevėh gur vīcẖār. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The perfect beings perform devotional worship to Him. The silent sages serve Him through the Guru's Teachings. ||1||Pause||

ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਦੀਪਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਿ ਏਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥
रवि ससि दीपक जा के त्रिभवणि एका जोति मुरारि ॥
Rav sas ḏīpak jā ke ṯaribẖavaṇ ekā joṯ murār.
His lamps are the sun and the moon; the One Light of the Destroyer of ego fills the three worlds.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਰੈਣਿ ਅੰਧਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
गुरमुखि होइ सु अहिनिसि निरमलु मनमुखि रैणि अंधारि ॥२॥
Gurmukẖ ho▫e so ahinis nirmal manmukẖ raiṇ anḏẖār. ||2||
One who becomes Gurmukh remains immaculately pure, day and night, while the self-willed manmukh is enveloped by the darkness of night. ||2||
|
ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਝਗਰਾ ਦੁਹੁ ਲੋਚਨ ਕਿਆ ਹੇਰੈ ॥
सिध समाधि करहि नित झगरा दुहु लोचन किआ हेरै ॥
Siḏẖ samāḏẖ karahi niṯ jẖagrā ḏuhu locẖan ki▫ā herai.
The Siddhas in Samaadhi are continually in conflict; what can they see with their two eyes?

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਧੁਨਿ ਜਾਗੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਝਗਰੁ ਨਿਬੇਰੈ ॥੩॥
अंतरि जोति सबदु धुनि जागै सतिगुरु झगरु निबेरै ॥३॥
Anṯar joṯ sabaḏ ḏẖun jāgai saṯgur jẖagar nibere. ||3||
One who has the Divine Light within his heart, and is awakened to the melody of the Word of the Shabad - the True Guru settles his conflicts. ||3||

ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਨਾਥ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਮਹਲਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
सुरि नर नाथ बेअंत अजोनी साचै महलि अपारा ॥
Sur nar nāth be▫anṯ ajonī sācẖai mahal apārā.
O Lord of angels and men, infinite and unborn, Your True Mansion is incomparable.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
नानक सहजि मिले जगजीवन नदरि करहु निसतारा ॥४॥२॥
Nānak sahj mile jagjīvan naḏar karahu nisṯārā. ||4||2||
Nanak merges imperceptibly into the Life of the world; shower Your mercy upon him, and save him. ||4||2||
