ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ੴ सति नामु करता पुरखु निरभउ निरवैरु अकाल मूरति अजूनी सैभं गुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯ nām karṯā purakẖ nirbẖa▫o nirvair akāl mūraṯ ajūnī saibẖaʼn gur parsāḏ.
There is but one God. True is His Name and creative His personality. He is without fear, without enmity, immortal in form, unborn and self-illumined. He is attained by Guru's grace.

ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰੀ ਚਨਣਾਠੀਆ ਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਉਰਸਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
तेरा नामु करी चनणाठीआ जे मनु उरसा होइ ॥
Ŧerā nām karī cẖanṇāṯẖī▫ā je man ursā ho▫e.
If I make Thy Name the sandal wood and my mind stone,
|
ਕਰਣੀ ਕੁੰਗੂ ਜੇ ਰਲੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
करणी कुंगू जे रलै घट अंतरि पूजा होइ ॥१॥
Karṇī kungū je ralai gẖat anṯar pūjā ho▫e. ||1||
if good deeds be mixed therewith as saffron, then alone shall the True adoration be performed in the heart.

ਪੂਜਾ ਕੀਚੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਪੂਜ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
पूजा कीचै नामु धिआईऐ बिनु नावै पूज न होइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Pūjā kīcẖai nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai bin nāvai pūj na ho▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Perform His service by meditating on God's Name, for without the Name there is no worship. Pause.

ਬਾਹਰਿ ਦੇਵ ਪਖਾਲੀਅਹਿ ਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਧੋਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
बाहरि देव पखालीअहि जे मनु धोवै कोइ ॥
Bāhar ḏev pakẖālī▫ah je man ḏẖovai ko▫e.
If man were to wash his heart as the stone god is washed from without,
|
ਜੂਠਿ ਲਹੈ ਜੀਉ ਮਾਜੀਐ ਮੋਖ ਪਇਆਣਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
जूठि लहै जीउ माजीऐ मोख पइआणा होइ ॥२॥
Jūṯẖ lahai jī▫o mājī▫ai mokẖ pa▫i▫āṇā ho▫e. ||2||
his filth shall be removed his soul shall be cleansed and he shall depart to deliverance.

ਪਸੂ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ਖੜੁ ਖਾਵਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਦੇਹਿ ॥
पसू मिलहि चंगिआईआ खड़ु खावहि अम्रितु देहि ॥
Pasū milėh cẖang▫ā▫ī▫ā kẖaṛ kẖāvėh amriṯ ḏėh.
The beasts have merits as they eat grass and give milk.

ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇਹਿ ॥੩॥
नाम विहूणे आदमी ध्रिगु जीवण करम करेहि ॥३॥
Nām vihūṇe āḏmī ḏẖarig jīvaṇ karam karehi. ||3||
Without the name accursed is man's life and the acts he performs.

ਨੇੜਾ ਹੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਿਅਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੇ ॥
नेड़ा है दूरि न जाणिअहु नित सारे सम्हाले ॥
Neṛā hai ḏūr na jāṇi▫ahu niṯ sāre samĥāle.
The Lord is near. Deem Him not distant. He, ever, cares for and remembers us.

ਜੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਖਾਵਣਾ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥੧॥
जो देवै सो खावणा कहु नानक साचा हे ॥४॥१॥
Jo ḏevai so kẖāvṇā kaho Nānak sācẖā he. ||4||1||
Says Nanak, what he gives, that we eat and He alone is the True Lord.

ਨਾਭਿ ਕਮਲ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਉਪਜੇ ਬੇਦ ਪੜਹਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਕੰਠਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
नाभि कमल ते ब्रहमा उपजे बेद पड़हि मुखि कंठि सवारि ॥
Nābẖ kamal ṯe barahmā upje beḏ paṛėh mukẖ kanṯẖ savār.
Brahma was born of the lotus of Vishnu's navel and attuning their throat, people read the Vedas their mouth.

ਤਾ ਕੋ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਲਖਣਾ ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਰਹੈ ਗੁਬਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
ता को अंतु न जाई लखणा आवत जात रहै गुबारि ॥१॥
Ŧā ko anṯ na jā▫ī lakẖ▫ṇā āvaṯ jāṯ rahai gubār. ||1||
Lord's limit, he could not see and he remained in the darkness of coming and going.

ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
प्रीतम किउ बिसरहि मेरे प्राण अधार ॥
Parīṯam ki▫o bisrahi mere parāṇ aḏẖār.
Why should I forget my Beloved who is the support of my very life?

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जा की भगति करहि जन पूरे मुनि जन सेवहि गुर वीचारि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jā kī bẖagaṯ karahi jan pūre mun jan sevėh gur vīcẖār. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Whose worship perform the perfect persons. Whom serve the silent sages through the Guru's instruction. Pause.

ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਦੀਪਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਿ ਏਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥
रवि ससि दीपक जा के त्रिभवणि एका जोति मुरारि ॥
Rav sas ḏīpak jā ke ṯaribẖavaṇ ekā joṯ murār.
Whose lamps are the sun and the moon. The one light of Lord, the Enemy of pride, fills the three worlds.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਰੈਣਿ ਅੰਧਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
गुरमुखि होइ सु अहिनिसि निरमलु मनमुखि रैणि अंधारि ॥२॥
Gurmukẖ ho▫e so ahinis nirmal manmukẖ raiṇ anḏẖār. ||2||
He who becomes Guru-ward remains pure day and night but the self-ward is enveloped by the darkness of night.

ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਝਗਰਾ ਦੁਹੁ ਲੋਚਨ ਕਿਆ ਹੇਰੈ ॥
सिध समाधि करहि नित झगरा दुहु लोचन किआ हेरै ॥
Siḏẖ samāḏẖ karahi niṯ jẖagrā ḏuhu locẖan ki▫ā herai.
The adepts in their trance ever contest among themselves but what can they see with their two eyes?

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਧੁਨਿ ਜਾਗੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਝਗਰੁ ਨਿਬੇਰੈ ॥੩॥
अंतरि जोति सबदु धुनि जागै सतिगुरु झगरु निबेरै ॥३॥
Anṯar joṯ sabaḏ ḏẖun jāgai saṯgur jẖagar nibere. ||3||
He, in whose heart is the Divine light, is awakened by the Name's melody and the True Guru settles his strifes.

ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਨਾਥ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਮਹਲਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
सुरि नर नाथ बेअंत अजोनी साचै महलि अपारा ॥
Sur nar nāth be▫anṯ ajonī sācẖai mahal apārā.
O Lord of deities and men, Infinite and Unborn, Thy true palace is unrivalled.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
नानक सहजि मिले जगजीवन नदरि करहु निसतारा ॥४॥२॥
Nānak sahj mile jagjīvan naḏar karahu nisṯārā. ||4||2||
O life of the world, bestow peace unto Nanak and save him by Thine gracious glance.
