ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਜਾਟਰੋ ਉਠਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਗਾ
इह बिधि सुनि कै जाटरो उठि भगती लागा ॥
Ih biḏẖ sun kai jātro uṯẖ bẖagṯī lāgā.
Hearing this, Dhanna the Jaat applied himself to devotional worship.

ਮਿਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਖਿ ਗੁਸਾਈਆ ਧੰਨਾ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
मिले प्रतखि गुसाईआ धंना वडभागा ॥४॥२॥
Mile parṯakẖ gusā▫ī▫ā ḏẖannā vadbẖāgā. ||4||2||
The Lord of the Universe met him personally; Dhanna was so very blessed. ||4||2||

ਰੇ ਚਿਤ ਚੇਤਸਿ ਕੀ ਦਯਾਲ ਦਮੋਦਰ ਬਿਬਹਿ ਜਾਨਸਿ ਕੋਈ
रे चित चेतसि की न दयाल दमोदर बिबहि न जानसि कोई ॥
Re cẖiṯ cẖeṯas kī na ḏa▫yāl ḏamoḏar bibahi na jānas ko▫ī.
O my consciousness, why don't you remain conscious of the Merciful Lord? How can you recognize any other?

ਜੇ ਧਾਵਹਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਕਉ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
जे धावहि ब्रहमंड खंड कउ करता करै सु होई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Je ḏẖāvėh barahmand kẖand ka▫o karṯā karai so ho▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
You may run around the whole universe, but that alone happens which the Creator Lord does. ||1||Pause||

ਜਨਨੀ ਕੇਰੇ ਉਦਰ ਉਦਕ ਮਹਿ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਕੀਆ ਦਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ
जननी केरे उदर उदक महि पिंडु कीआ दस दुआरा ॥
Jannī kere uḏar uḏak mėh pind kī▫ā ḏas ḏu▫ārā.
In the water of the mother's womb, He fashioned the body with ten gates.

ਦੇਇ ਅਹਾਰੁ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਐਸਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
देइ अहारु अगनि महि राखै ऐसा खसमु हमारा ॥१॥
Ḏe▫e ahār agan mėh rākẖai aisā kẖasam hamārā. ||1||
He gives it sustenance, and preserves it in fire - such is my Lord and Master. ||1||

ਕੁੰਮੀ ਜਲ ਮਾਹਿ ਤਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪੰਖ ਖੀਰੁ ਤਿਨ ਨਾਹੀ
कुमी जल माहि तन तिसु बाहरि पंख खीरु तिन नाही ॥
Kummī jal māhi ṯan ṯis bāhar pankẖ kẖīr ṯin nāhī.
The mother turtle is in the water, and her babies are out of the water. She has no wings to protect them, and no milk to feed them.

ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ਮਨੋਹਰ ਸਮਝਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
पूरन परमानंद मनोहर समझि देखु मन माही ॥२॥
Pūran parmānanḏ manohar samajẖ ḏekẖ man māhī. ||2||
The Perfect Lord, the embodiment of supreme bliss, the Fascinating Lord takes care of them. See this, and understand it in your mind||2||

ਪਾਖਣਿ ਕੀਟੁ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਰਹਤਾ ਤਾ ਚੋ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਨਾਹੀ
पाखणि कीटु गुपतु होइ रहता ता चो मारगु नाही ॥
Pākẖaṇ kīt gupaṯ ho▫e rahṯā ṯā cẖo mārag nāhī.
The worm lies hidden under the stone - there is no way for him to escape.

ਕਹੈ ਧੰਨਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਾਹੂ ਕੋ ਮਤ ਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਡਰਾਂਹੀ ॥੩॥੩॥
कहै धंना पूरन ताहू को मत रे जीअ डरांही ॥३॥३॥
Kahai ḏẖannā pūran ṯāhū ko maṯ re jī▫a darāʼnhī. ||3||3||
Says Dhanna, the Perfect Lord takes care of him. Fear not, O my soul. ||3||3||

ਆਸਾ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਜੀਉ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ
आसा सेख फरीद जीउ की बाणी
Āsā Sekẖ Farīḏ jī▫o kī baṇī
Aasaa, The Word Of Shaykh Fareed Jee:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਦਿਲਹੁ ਮੁਹਬਤਿ ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸੇਈ ਸਚਿਆ
दिलहु मुहबति जिंन्ह सेई सचिआ ॥
Ḏilahu muhabaṯ jinĥ se▫ī sacẖi▫ā.
They alone are true, whose love for God is deep and heart-felt.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਸਿ ਕਾਂਢੇ ਕਚਿਆ ॥੧॥
जिन्ह मनि होरु मुखि होरु सि कांढे कचिआ ॥१॥
Jinĥ man hor mukẖ hor sė kāʼndẖe kacẖi▫ā. ||1||
Those who have one thing in their heart, and something else in their mouth, are judged to be false. ||1||

ਰਤੇ ਇਸਕ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਰੰਗਿ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕੇ
रते इसक खुदाइ रंगि दीदार के ॥
Raṯe isak kẖuḏā▫e rang ḏīḏār ke.
Those who are imbued with love for the Lord, are delighted by His Vision.

ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇ ਭੁਇ ਭਾਰੁ ਥੀਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
विसरिआ जिन्ह नामु ते भुइ भारु थीए ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
visri▫ā jinĥ nām ṯe bẖu▫e bẖār thī▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Those who forget the Naam, the Name of the Lord, are a burden on the earth. ||1||Pause||

ਆਪਿ ਲੀਏ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ਦਰਿ ਦਰਵੇਸ ਸੇ
आपि लीए लड़ि लाइ दरि दरवेस से ॥
Āp lī▫e laṛ lā▫e ḏar ḏarves se.
Those whom the Lord attaches to the hem of His robe, are the true dervishes at His Door.

ਤਿਨ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਣੇਦੀ ਮਾਉ ਆਏ ਸਫਲੁ ਸੇ ॥੨॥
तिन धंनु जणेदी माउ आए सफलु से ॥२॥
Ŧin ḏẖan jaṇeḏī mā▫o ā▫e safal se. ||2||
Blessed are the mothers who gave birth to them, and fruitful is their coming into the world. ||2||

ਪਰਵਦਗਾਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਗਮ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਤੂ
परवदगार अपार अगम बेअंत तू ॥
Parvarḏagār apār agam be▫anṯ ṯū.
O Lord, Sustainer and Cherisher, You are infinite, unfathomable and endless.

ਜਿਨਾ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਚੁੰਮਾ ਪੈਰ ਮੂੰ ॥੩॥
जिना पछाता सचु चुमा पैर मूं ॥३॥
Jinā pacẖẖāṯā sacẖ cẖummā pair mūʼn. ||3||
Those who recognize the True Lord - I kiss their feet. ||3||

ਤੇਰੀ ਪਨਹ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਤੂ ਬਖਸੰਦਗੀ
तेरी पनह खुदाइ तू बखसंदगी ॥
Ŧerī panah kẖuḏā▫e ṯū bakẖsanḏgī.
I seek Your Protection - You are the Forgiving Lord.

ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦੈ ਖੈਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਬੰਦਗੀ ॥੪॥੧॥
सेख फरीदै खैरु दीजै बंदगी ॥४॥१॥
Sekẖ Farīḏai kẖair ḏījai banḏagī. ||4||1||
Please, bless Shaykh Fareed with the bounty of Your meditative worship. ||4||1||

ਆਸਾ
आसा ॥
Āsā.
Aasaa:

ਬੋਲੈ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਅਲਹ ਲਗੇ
बोलै सेख फरीदु पिआरे अलह लगे ॥
Bolai Sekẖ Farīḏ pi▫āre alah lage.
Says Shaykh Fareed, O my dear friend, attach yourself to the Lord.

ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਸੀ ਖਾਕ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਗੋਰ ਘਰੇ ॥੧॥
इहु तनु होसी खाक निमाणी गोर घरे ॥१॥
Ih ṯan hosī kẖāk nimāṇī gor gẖare. ||1||
This body shall turn to dust, and its home shall be a neglected graveyard. ||1||

ਆਜੁ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਟਾਕਿਮ ਕੂੰਜੜੀਆ ਮਨਹੁ ਮਚਿੰਦੜੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
आजु मिलावा सेख फरीद टाकिम कूंजड़ीआ मनहु मचिंदड़ीआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Āj milāvā Sekẖ Farīḏ tākim kūnjaṛī▫ā manhu macẖinḏ▫ṛī▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
You can meet the Lord today, O Shaykh Fareed, if you restrain your bird-like desires which keep your mind in turmoil. ||1||Pause||

ਜੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਘੁਮਿ ਆਈਐ
जे जाणा मरि जाईऐ घुमि न आईऐ ॥
Je jāṇā mar jā▫ī▫ai gẖum na ā▫ī▫ai.
If I had known that I was to die, and not return again,

ਝੂਠੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਲਗਿ ਆਪੁ ਵਞਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
झूठी दुनीआ लगि न आपु वञाईऐ ॥२॥
Jẖūṯẖī ḏunī▫ā lag na āp vañā▫ī▫ai. ||2||
I would not have ruined myself by clinging to the world of falsehood. ||2||

ਬੋਲੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਬੋਲੀਐ
बोलीऐ सचु धरमु झूठु न बोलीऐ ॥
Bolī▫ai sacẖ ḏẖaram jẖūṯẖ na bolī▫ai.
So speak the Truth, in righteousness, and do not speak falsehood.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਦਸੈ ਵਾਟ ਮੁਰੀਦਾ ਜੋਲੀਐ ॥੩॥
जो गुरु दसै वाट मुरीदा जोलीऐ ॥३॥
Jo gur ḏasai vāt murīḏā jolī▫ai. ||3||
The disciple ought to travel the route, pointed out by the Guru. ||3||

ਛੈਲ ਲੰਘੰਦੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਗੋਰੀ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰਿਆ
छैल लंघंदे पारि गोरी मनु धीरिआ ॥
Cẖẖail langẖanḏe pār gorī man ḏẖīri▫ā.
Seeing the youths being carried across, the hearts of the beautiful young soul-brides are encouraged.

ਕੰਚਨ ਵੰਨੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਕਲਵਤਿ ਚੀਰਿਆ ॥੪॥
कंचन वंने पासे कलवति चीरिआ ॥४॥
Kancẖan vanne pāse kalvaṯ cẖīri▫ā. ||4||
Those who side with the glitter of gold, are cut down with a saw. ||4||

ਸੇਖ ਹੈਯਾਤੀ ਜਗਿ ਕੋਈ ਥਿਰੁ ਰਹਿਆ
सेख हैयाती जगि न कोई थिरु रहिआ ॥
Sekẖ haiyāṯī jag na ko▫ī thir rahi▫ā.
O Shaykh, no one's life is permanent in this world.

ਜਿਸੁ ਆਸਣਿ ਹਮ ਬੈਠੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਬੈਸਿ ਗਇਆ ॥੫॥
जिसु आसणि हम बैठे केते बैसि गइआ ॥५॥
Jis āsaṇ ham baiṯẖe keṯe bais ga▫i▫ā. ||5||
That seat, upon which we now sit - many others sat on it and have since departed. ||5||

ਕਤਿਕ ਕੂੰਜਾਂ ਚੇਤਿ ਡਉ ਸਾਵਣਿ ਬਿਜੁਲੀਆਂ
कतिक कूंजां चेति डउ सावणि बिजुलीआं ॥
Kaṯik kūʼnjāʼn cẖeṯ da▫o sāvaṇ bijulī▫āʼn.
As the swallows appear in the month of Katik, forest fires in the month of Chayt, and lightning in Saawan,

ਸੀਆਲੇ ਸੋਹੰਦੀਆਂ ਪਿਰ ਗਲਿ ਬਾਹੜੀਆਂ ॥੬॥
सीआले सोहंदीआं पिर गलि बाहड़ीआं ॥६॥
Sī▫āle sohanḏī▫āʼn pir gal bāhṛī▫āʼn. ||6||
and as the bride's arms adorn her husband's neck in winter;||6||

ਚਲੇ ਚਲਣਹਾਰ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਲੇਇ ਮਨੋ
चले चलणहार विचारा लेइ मनो ॥
Cẖale cẖalaṇhār vicẖārā le▫e mano.
Just so, the transitory human bodies pass away. Reflect upon this in your mind.

ਗੰਢੇਦਿਆਂ ਛਿਅ ਮਾਹ ਤੁੜੰਦਿਆ ਹਿਕੁ ਖਿਨੋ ॥੭॥
गंढेदिआं छिअ माह तुड़ंदिआ हिकु खिनो ॥७॥
Gandẖeḏi▫āʼn cẖẖi▫a māh ṯuṛanḏi▫ā hik kẖino. ||7||
It takes six months to form the body, but it breaks in an instant. ||7||

ਜਿਮੀ ਪੁਛੈ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਫਰੀਦਾ ਖੇਵਟ ਕਿੰਨਿ ਗਏ
जिमी पुछै असमान फरीदा खेवट किंनि गए ॥
Jimī pucẖẖai asmān Farīḏā kẖevat kinn ga▫e.
O Fareed, the earth asks the sky, "Where have the boatmen gone?

ਜਾਲਣ ਗੋਰਾਂ ਨਾਲਿ ਉਲਾਮੇ ਜੀਅ ਸਹੇ ॥੮॥੨॥
जालण गोरां नालि उलामे जीअ सहे ॥८॥२॥
Jālaṇ gorāʼn nāl ulāme jī▫a sahe. ||8||2||
Some have been cremated, and some lie in their graves; their souls are suffering rebukes. ||8||2||
