ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰਪਨੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ
इह स्रपनी ता की कीती होई ॥
Ih sarpanī ṯā kī kīṯī ho▫ī.
This she-serpent is created by Him.

ਬਲੁ ਅਬਲੁ ਕਿਆ ਇਸ ਤੇ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥
बलु अबलु किआ इस ते होई ॥४॥
Bal abal ki▫ā is ṯe ho▫ī. ||4||
What power or weakness does she have by herself? ||4||

ਇਹ ਬਸਤੀ ਤਾ ਬਸਤ ਸਰੀਰਾ
इह बसती ता बसत सरीरा ॥
Ih basṯī ṯā basaṯ sarīrā.
If she abides with the mortal, then his soul abides in his body.

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਤਰੇ ਕਬੀਰਾ ॥੫॥੬॥੧੯॥
गुर प्रसादि सहजि तरे कबीरा ॥५॥६॥१९॥
Gur parsāḏ sahj ṯare kabīrā. ||5||6||19||
By Guru's Grace, Kabeer has easily crossed over. ||5||6||19||

Āsā.
Aasaa:

ਕਹਾ ਸੁਆਨ ਕਉ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸੁਨਾਏ
कहा सुआन कउ सिम्रिति सुनाए ॥
Kahā su▫ān ka▫o simriṯ sunā▫e.
Why bother to read the Simritees to a dog?

ਕਹਾ ਸਾਕਤ ਪਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥੧॥
कहा साकत पहि हरि गुन गाए ॥१॥
Kahā sākaṯ pėh har gun gā▫e. ||1||
Why bother to sing the Lord's Praises to the faithless cynic? ||1||

ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਮੇ ਰਮਿ ਰਹੀਐ
राम राम राम रमे रमि रहीऐ ॥
Rām rām rām rame ram rahī▫ai.
Remain absorbed in the Lord's Name, Raam, Raam, Raam.

ਸਾਕਤ ਸਿਉ ਭੂਲਿ ਨਹੀ ਕਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
साकत सिउ भूलि नही कहीऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sākaṯ si▫o bẖūl nahī kahī▫ai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Do not bother to speak of it to the faithless cynic, even by mistake. ||1||Pause||

ਕਊਆ ਕਹਾ ਕਪੂਰ ਚਰਾਏ
कऊआ कहा कपूर चराए ॥
Ka▫ū▫ā kahā kapūr cẖarā▫e.
Why offer camphor to a crow?

ਕਹ ਬਿਸੀਅਰ ਕਉ ਦੂਧੁ ਪੀਆਏ ॥੨॥
कह बिसीअर कउ दूधु पीआए ॥२॥
Kah bisī▫ar ka▫o ḏūḏẖ pī▫ā▫e. ||2||
Why give the snake milk to drink? ||2||

ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੋਈ
सतसंगति मिलि बिबेक बुधि होई ॥
Saṯsangaṯ mil bibek buḏẖ ho▫ī.
Joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, discriminating understanding is attained.

ਪਾਰਸੁ ਪਰਸਿ ਲੋਹਾ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥
पारसु परसि लोहा कंचनु सोई ॥३॥
Pāras paras lohā kancẖan so▫ī. ||3||
That iron which touches the Philosopher's Stone becomes gold. ||3||

ਸਾਕਤੁ ਸੁਆਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਇਆ
साकतु सुआनु सभु करे कराइआ ॥
Sākaṯ su▫ān sabẖ kare karā▫i▫ā.
The dog, the faithless cynic, does everything as the Lord causes him to do.

ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
जो धुरि लिखिआ सु करम कमाइआ ॥४॥
Jo ḏẖur likẖi▫ā so karam kamā▫i▫ā. ||4||
He does the deeds pre-ordained from the very beginning. ||4||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਲੈ ਲੈ ਨੀਮੁ ਸਿੰਚਾਈ
अम्रितु लै लै नीमु सिंचाई ॥
Amriṯ lai lai nīm sincẖā▫ī.
If you take Ambrosial Nectar and irrigate the neem tree with it,

ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਉਆ ਕੋ ਸਹਜੁ ਜਾਈ ॥੫॥੭॥੨੦॥
कहत कबीर उआ को सहजु न जाई ॥५॥७॥२०॥
Kahaṯ Kabīr u▫ā ko sahj na jā▫ī. ||5||7||20||
still, says Kabeer, its natural qualities are not changed. ||5||7||20||

ਆਸਾ
आसा ॥
Āsā.
Aasaa:

ਲੰਕਾ ਸਾ ਕੋਟੁ ਸਮੁੰਦ ਸੀ ਖਾਈ
लंका सा कोटु समुंद सी खाई ॥
Lankā sā kot samunḏ sī kẖā▫ī.
A fortress like that of Sri Lanka, with the ocean as a moat around it -

ਤਿਹ ਰਾਵਨ ਘਰ ਖਬਰਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
तिह रावन घर खबरि न पाई ॥१॥
Ŧih rāvan gẖar kẖabar na pā▫ī. ||1||
there is no news about that house of Raavan. ||1||

ਕਿਆ ਮਾਗਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਥਿਰੁ ਰਹਾਈ
किआ मागउ किछु थिरु न रहाई ॥
Ki▫ā māga▫o kicẖẖ thir na rahā▫ī.
What shall I ask for? Nothing is permanent.

ਦੇਖਤ ਨੈਨ ਚਲਿਓ ਜਗੁ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
देखत नैन चलिओ जगु जाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḏekẖaṯ nain cẖali▫o jag jā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I see with my eyes that the world is passing away. ||1||Pause||

ਇਕੁ ਲਖੁ ਪੂਤ ਸਵਾ ਲਖੁ ਨਾਤੀ
इकु लखु पूत सवा लखु नाती ॥
Ik lakẖ pūṯ savā lakẖ nāṯī.
Thousands of sons and thousands of grandsons -

ਤਿਹ ਰਾਵਨ ਘਰ ਦੀਆ ਬਾਤੀ ॥੨॥
तिह रावन घर दीआ न बाती ॥२॥
Ŧih rāvan gẖar ḏī▫ā na bāṯī. ||2||
but in that house of Raavan, the lamps and wicks have gone out. ||2||

ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਤਪਤ ਰਸੋਈ
चंदु सूरजु जा के तपत रसोई ॥
Cẖanḏ sūraj jā ke ṯapaṯ raso▫ī.
The moon and the sun cooked his food.

ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕਪਰੇ ਧੋਈ ॥੩॥
बैसंतरु जा के कपरे धोई ॥३॥
Baisanṯar jā ke kapre ḏẖo▫ī. ||3||
The fire washed his clothes. ||3||

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਬਸਾਈ
गुरमति रामै नामि बसाई ॥
Gurmaṯ rāmai nām basā▫ī.
Under Guru's Instructions, one whose mind is filled with the Lord's Name,

ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਰਹੈ ਕਤਹੂੰ ਜਾਈ ॥੪॥
असथिरु रहै न कतहूं जाई ॥४॥
Asthir rahai na kaṯahūʼn jā▫ī. ||4||
becomes permanent, and does not go anywhere. ||4||

ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਲੋਈ
कहत कबीर सुनहु रे लोई ॥
Kahaṯ Kabīr sunhu re lo▫ī.
Says Kabeer, listen, people:

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੫॥੮॥੨੧॥
राम नाम बिनु मुकति न होई ॥५॥८॥२१॥
Rām nām bin mukaṯ na ho▫ī. ||5||8||21||
without the Lord's Name, no one is liberated. ||5||8||21||

ਆਸਾ
आसा ॥
Āsā.
Aasaa:

ਪਹਿਲਾ ਪੂਤੁ ਪਿਛੈਰੀ ਮਾਈ
पहिला पूतु पिछैरी माई ॥
Pahilā pūṯ picẖẖairī mā▫ī.
First, the son was born, and then, his mother.

ਗੁਰੁ ਲਾਗੋ ਚੇਲੇ ਕੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
गुरु लागो चेले की पाई ॥१॥
Gur lāgo cẖele kī pā▫ī. ||1||
The guru falls at the feet of the disciple. ||1||

ਏਕੁ ਅਚੰਭਉ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਭਾਈ
एकु अच्मभउ सुनहु तुम्ह भाई ॥
Ėk acẖambẖa▫o sunhu ṯumĥ bẖā▫ī.
Listen to this wonderful thing, O Siblings of Destiny!

ਦੇਖਤ ਸਿੰਘੁ ਚਰਾਵਤ ਗਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
देखत सिंघु चरावत गाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḏekẖaṯ singẖ cẖarāvaṯ gā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I saw the lion herding the cows. ||1||Pause||

ਜਲ ਕੀ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਤਰਵਰਿ ਬਿਆਈ
जल की मछुली तरवरि बिआई ॥
Jal kī macẖẖulī ṯarvar bi▫ā▫ī.
The fish of the water gives birth upon a tree.

ਦੇਖਤ ਕੁਤਰਾ ਲੈ ਗਈ ਬਿਲਾਈ ॥੨॥
देखत कुतरा लै गई बिलाई ॥२॥
Ḏekẖaṯ kuṯrā lai ga▫ī bilā▫ī. ||2||
I saw a cat carrying away a dog. ||2||

ਤਲੈ ਰੇ ਬੈਸਾ ਊਪਰਿ ਸੂਲਾ
तलै रे बैसा ऊपरि सूला ॥
Ŧalai re baisā ūpar sūlā.
The branches are below, and the roots are above.

ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਪੇਡਿ ਲਗੇ ਫਲ ਫੂਲਾ ॥੩॥
तिस कै पेडि लगे फल फूला ॥३॥
Ŧis kai ped lage fal fūlā. ||3||
The trunk of that tree bears fruits and flowers. ||3||

ਘੋਰੈ ਚਰਿ ਭੈਸ ਚਰਾਵਨ ਜਾਈ
घोरै चरि भैस चरावन जाई ॥
Gẖorai cẖar bẖais cẖarāvan jā▫ī.
Riding a horse, the buffalo takes him out to graze.

ਬਾਹਰਿ ਬੈਲੁ ਗੋਨਿ ਘਰਿ ਆਈ ॥੪॥
बाहरि बैलु गोनि घरि आई ॥४॥
Bāhar bail gon gẖar ā▫ī. ||4||
The bull is away, while his load has come home. ||4||

ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੁ ਇਸ ਪਦ ਬੂਝੈ
कहत कबीर जु इस पद बूझै ॥
Kahaṯ Kabīr jo is paḏ būjẖai.
Says Kabeer, one who understands this hymn,

ਰਾਮ ਰਮਤ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੂਝੈ ॥੫॥੯॥੨੨॥ ਬਾਈਸ ਚਉਪਦੇ ਤਥਾ ਪੰਚਪਦੇ
राम रमत तिसु सभु किछु सूझै ॥५॥९॥२२॥ बाईस चउपदे तथा पंचपदे
Rām ramaṯ ṯis sabẖ kicẖẖ sūjẖai. ||5||9||22||
and chants the Lord's Name, comes to understand everything. ||5||9||22|| 22 Chau-Padas And Panch-Padas.

ਆਸਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਉ ਕੇ ਤਿਪਦੇ ਦੁਤੁਕੇ ਇਕਤੁਕਾ
आसा स्री कबीर जीउ के तिपदे ८ दुतुके ७ इकतुका १
Bā▫īs cẖa▫upḏe ṯathā pancẖpaḏe āsā sarī Kabīr jī▫o ke ṯipḏe 8 ḏuṯuke 7 ikṯukā 1
Aasaa Of Kabeer Jee, 8 Tri-Padas, 7 Du-Tukas, 1 Ik-Tuka:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਬਿੰਦੁ ਤੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਕੀਆ ਅਗਨਿ ਕੁੰਡ ਰਹਾਇਆ
बिंदु ते जिनि पिंडु कीआ अगनि कुंड रहाइआ ॥
Binḏ ṯe jin pind kī▫ā agan kund rahā▫i▫ā.
The Lord created the body from sperm, and protected it in the fire pit.

ਦਸ ਮਾਸ ਮਾਤਾ ਉਦਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
दस मास माता उदरि राखिआ बहुरि लागी माइआ ॥१॥
Ḏas mās māṯā uḏar rākẖi▫ā bahur lāgī mā▫i▫ā. ||1||
For ten months He preserved you in your mother's womb, and then, after you were born, you became attached to Maya. ||1||

ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਲੋਭਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਖੋਇਆ
प्रानी काहे कउ लोभि लागे रतन जनमु खोइआ ॥
Parānī kāhe ka▫o lobẖ lāge raṯan janam kẖo▫i▫ā.
O mortal, why have you attached yourself to greed, and lost the jewel of life?

ਪੂਰਬ ਜਨਮਿ ਕਰਮ ਭੂਮਿ ਬੀਜੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਬੋਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
पूरब जनमि करम भूमि बीजु नाही बोइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Pūrab janam karam bẖūm bīj nāhī bo▫i▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
You did not plant the seeds of good actions in the earth of your past lives. ||1||Pause||

ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੇ ਬਿਰਧਿ ਭਇਆ ਹੋਨਾ ਸੋ ਹੋਇਆ
बारिक ते बिरधि भइआ होना सो होइआ ॥
Bārik ṯe biraḏẖ bẖa▫i▫ā honā so ho▫i▫ā.
From an infant, you have grown old. That which was to happen, has happened.

ਜਾ ਜਮੁ ਆਇ ਝੋਟ ਪਕਰੈ ਤਬਹਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਰੋਇਆ ॥੨॥
जा जमु आइ झोट पकरै तबहि काहे रोइआ ॥२॥
Jā jam ā▫e jẖot pakrai ṯabėh kāhe ro▫i▫ā. ||2||
When the Messenger of Death comes and grabs you by your hair, why do you cry out then? ||2||

ਜੀਵਨੈ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਮੁ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ਸਾਸਾ
जीवनै की आस करहि जमु निहारै सासा ॥
Jīvnai kī ās karahi jam nihārai sāsā.
You hope for long life, while Death counts your breaths.
