ਜੈਸੀ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਪਿਆਸ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਬੂੰਦ ਚਵੈ ਬਰਸੁ ਸੁਹਾਵੇ ਮੇਹੁ ॥
जैसी चात्रिक पिआस खिनु खिनु बूंद चवै बरसु सुहावे मेहु ॥
Jaisī cẖāṯrik pi▫ās kẖin kẖin būnḏ cẖavai baras suhāve mehu.
Like the song-bird, thirsting for the rain-drops, chirping each and every moment to the beautiful rain clouds.

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰੀਜੈ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਅਤਿ ਲਾਈਐ ਚਿਤੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
हरि प्रीति करीजै इहु मनु दीजै अति लाईऐ चितु मुरारी ॥
Har parīṯ karījai ih man ḏījai aṯ lā▫ī▫ai cẖiṯ murārī.
So love the Lord, and give to Him this mind of yours; totally focus your consciousness on the Lord.

ਮਾਨੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੀਜੈ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
मानु न कीजै सरणि परीजै दरसन कउ बलिहारी ॥
Mān na kījai saraṇ parījai ḏarsan ka▫o balihārī.
Do not take pride in yourself, but seek the Sanctuary of the Lord, and make yourself a sacrifice to the Blessed Vision of His Darshan.

ਗੁਰ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨੇ ਮਿਲੁ ਨਾਹ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੇ ਧਨ ਦੇਦੀ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਨੇਹਾ ॥
गुर सुप्रसंने मिलु नाह विछुंने धन देदी साचु सनेहा ॥
Gur suparsanne mil nāh vicẖẖune ḏẖan ḏeḏī sācẖ sanehā.
When the Guru is totally pleased, the separated soul-bride is re-united with her Husband Lord; she sends the message of her true love.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਛੰਤ ਅਨੰਤ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਨੇਹਾ ਮਨ ਐਸਾ ਨੇਹੁ ਕਰੇਹੁ ॥੨॥
कहु नानक छंत अनंत ठाकुर के हरि सिउ कीजै नेहा मन ऐसा नेहु करेहु ॥२॥
Kaho Nānak cẖẖanṯ ananṯ ṯẖākur ke har si▫o kījai nehā man aisā nehu karehu. ||2||
Says Nanak, chant the Hymns of the Infinite Lord Master; O my mind, love Him and enshrine such love for Him. ||2||

ਚਕਵੀ ਸੂਰ ਸਨੇਹੁ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਆਸ ਘਣੀ ਕਦਿ ਦਿਨੀਅਰੁ ਦੇਖੀਐ ॥
चकवी सूर सनेहु चितवै आस घणी कदि दिनीअरु देखीऐ ॥
Cẖakvī sūr sanehu cẖiṯvai ās gẖaṇī kaḏ ḏinī▫ar ḏekẖī▫ai.
The chakvi bird is in love with the sun, and thinks of it constantly; her greatest longing is to behold the dawn.

ਕੋਕਿਲ ਅੰਬ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਚਵੈ ਸੁਹਾਵੀਆ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਕੀਜੀਐ ॥
कोकिल अम्ब परीति चवै सुहावीआ मन हरि रंगु कीजीऐ ॥
Kokil amb parīṯ cẖavai suhāvī▫ā man har rang kījī▫ai.
The cuckoo is in love with the mango tree, and sings so sweetly. O my mind, love the Lord in this way.

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰੀਜੈ ਮਾਨੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਇਕ ਰਾਤੀ ਕੇ ਹਭਿ ਪਾਹੁਣਿਆ ॥
हरि प्रीति करीजै मानु न कीजै इक राती के हभि पाहुणिआ ॥
Har parīṯ karījai mān na kījai ik rāṯī ke habẖ pāhuṇi▫ā.
Love the Lord, and do not take pride in yourself; everyone is a guest for a single night.

ਅਬ ਕਿਆ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇਓ ਮੋਹੁ ਰਚਾਇਓ ਨਾਗੇ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
अब किआ रंगु लाइओ मोहु रचाइओ नागे आवण जावणिआ ॥
Ab ki▫ā rang lā▫i▫o moh racẖā▫i▫o nāge āvaṇ jāvaṇi▫ā.
Now, why are you entangled in pleasures, and engrossed in emotional attachment? Naked we come, and naked we go.

ਥਿਰੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਰਣੀ ਪੜੀਐ ਚਰਣੀ ਅਬ ਟੂਟਸਿ ਮੋਹੁ ਜੁ ਕਿਤੀਐ ॥
थिरु साधू सरणी पड़ीऐ चरणी अब टूटसि मोहु जु कितीऐ ॥
Thir sāḏẖū sarṇī paṛī▫ai cẖarṇī ab tūtas moh jo kiṯī▫ai.
Seek the eternal Sanctuary of the Holy and fall at their feet, and the attachments which you feel shall depart.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਛੰਤ ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਇ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਕਬ ਦਿਨੀਅਰੁ ਦੇਖੀਐ ॥੩॥
कहु नानक छंत दइआल पुरख के मन हरि लाइ परीति कब दिनीअरु देखीऐ ॥३॥
Kaho Nānak cẖẖanṯ ḏa▫i▫āl purakẖ ke man har lā▫e parīṯ kab ḏinī▫ar ḏekẖī▫ai. ||3||
Says Nanak, chant the Hymns of the Merciful Lord God, and enshrine love for the Lord, O my mind; otherwise, how will you come to behold the dawn? ||3||

ਨਿਸਿ ਕੁਰੰਕ ਜੈਸੇ ਨਾਦ ਸੁਣਿ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਹੀਉ ਡਿਵੈ ਮਨ ਐਸੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
निसि कुरंक जैसे नाद सुणि स्रवणी हीउ डिवै मन ऐसी प्रीति कीजै ॥
Nis kurank jaise nāḏ suṇ sarvaṇī hī▫o divai man aisī parīṯ kījai.
Like the deer in the night, who hears the sound of the bell and gives his heart - O my mind, love the Lord in this way.

ਜੈਸੀ ਤਰੁਣਿ ਭਤਾਰ ਉਰਝੀ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਸਿਵੈ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਲ ਦੀਜੈ ॥
जैसी तरुणि भतार उरझी पिरहि सिवै इहु मनु लाल दीजै ॥
Jaisī ṯaruṇ bẖaṯār urjẖī pirėh sivai ih man lāl ḏījai.
Like the wife, who is bound by love to her husband, and serves her beloved - like this, give your heart to the Beloved Lord.

ਮਨੁ ਲਾਲਹਿ ਦੀਜੈ ਭੋਗ ਕਰੀਜੈ ਹਭਿ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣੇ ॥
मनु लालहि दीजै भोग करीजै हभि खुसीआ रंग माणे ॥
Man lālėh ḏījai bẖog karījai habẖ kẖusī▫ā rang māṇe.
Give your heart to your Beloved Lord, and enjoy His bed, and enjoy all pleasure and bliss.

ਪਿਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਲੁ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤਿ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਚਿਰਾਣੇ ॥
पिरु अपना पाइआ रंगु लालु बणाइआ अति मिलिओ मित्र चिराणे ॥
Pir apnā pā▫i▫ā rang lāl baṇā▫i▫ā aṯ mili▫o miṯar cẖirāṇe.
I have obtained my Husband Lord, and I am dyed in the deep crimson color of His Love; after such a long time, I have met my Friend.

ਗੁਰੁ ਥੀਆ ਸਾਖੀ ਤਾ ਡਿਠਮੁ ਆਖੀ ਪਿਰ ਜੇਹਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ॥
गुरु थीआ साखी ता डिठमु आखी पिर जेहा अवरु न दीसै ॥
Gur thī▫ā sākẖī ṯā diṯẖam ākẖī pir jehā avar na ḏīsai.
When the Guru became my advocate, then I saw the Lord with my eyes. No one else looks like my Beloved Husband Lord.

कहु नानक छंत दइआल मोहन के मन हरि चरण गहीजै ऐसी मन प्रीति कीजै ॥४॥१॥४॥
Kaho Nānak cẖẖanṯ ḏa▫i▫āl mohan ke man har cẖaraṇ gahījai aisī man parīṯ kījai. ||4||1||4||
Says Nanak, chant the Hymns of the merciful and fascinating Lord, O mind. Grasp the lotus feet of the Lord, and enshrine such love for Him in your mind. ||4||1||4||

ਬਨੁ ਬਨੁ ਫਿਰਤੀ ਖੋਜਤੀ ਹਾਰੀ ਬਹੁ ਅਵਗਾਹਿ ॥
बनु बनु फिरती खोजती हारी बहु अवगाहि ॥
Ban ban firṯī kẖojṯī hārī baho avgāhi.
From forest to forest, I wandered searching; I am so tired of taking baths at sacred shrines of pilgrimage.

ਨਾਨਕ ਭੇਟੇ ਸਾਧ ਜਬ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
नानक भेटे साध जब हरि पाइआ मन माहि ॥१॥
Nānak bẖete sāḏẖ jab har pā▫i▫ā man māhi. ||1||
O Nanak, when I met the Holy Saint, I found the Lord within my mind. ||1||

जा कउ खोजहि असंख मुनी अनेक तपे ॥
Jā ka▫o kẖojėh asaʼnkẖ munī anek ṯape.
Countless silent sages and innumerable ascetics seek Him;

ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇ ਕੋਟਿ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਾਪ ਜਪੇ ॥
ब्रहमे कोटि अराधहि गिआनी जाप जपे ॥
Barahme kot arāḏẖėh gi▫ānī jāp jape.
millions of Brahmas meditate and adore Him; the spiritual teachers meditate and chant His Name.

ਜਪ ਤਾਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਪੂਜਾ ਅਨਿਕ ਸੋਧਨ ਬੰਦਨਾ ॥
जप ताप संजम किरिआ पूजा अनिक सोधन बंदना ॥
Jap ṯāp sanjam kiri▫ā pūjā anik soḏẖan banḏnā.
Through chanting, deep meditation, strict and austere self-discipline, religious rituals, sincere worship, endless purifications and humble salutations,

ਕਰਿ ਗਵਨੁ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਤੀਰਥਹ ਮਜਨੁ ਮਿਲਨ ਕਉ ਨਿਰੰਜਨਾ ॥
करि गवनु बसुधा तीरथह मजनु मिलन कउ निरंजना ॥
Kar gavan basuḏẖā ṯīrthah majan milan ka▫o niranjanā.
wandering all over the earth and bathing at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, people seek to meet the Pure Lord.

ਮਾਨੁਖ ਬਨੁ ਤਿਨੁ ਪਸੂ ਪੰਖੀ ਸਗਲ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਅਰਾਧਤੇ ॥
मानुख बनु तिनु पसू पंखी सगल तुझहि अराधते ॥
Mānukẖ ban ṯin pasū pankẖī sagal ṯujẖėh arāḏẖaṯe.
Mortals, forests, blades of grass, animals and birds all meditate on You.

ਦਇਆਲ ਲਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਗਤੇ ॥੧॥
दइआल लाल गोबिंद नानक मिलु साधसंगति होइ गते ॥१॥
Ḏa▫i▫āl lāl gobinḏ Nānak mil sāḏẖsangaṯ ho▫e gaṯe. ||1||
The Merciful Beloved Lord, the Lord of the Universe is found; O Nanak, joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, salvation is attained. ||1||

कोटि बिसन अवतार संकर जटाधार ॥

Millions of incarnations of Vishnu and Shiva, with matted hair

ਚਾਹਹਿ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਦਇਆਰ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰੁਚ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
चाहहि तुझहि दइआर मनि तनि रुच अपार ॥
Cẖāhėh ṯujẖėh ḏa▫i▫ār man ṯan rucẖ apār.
yearn for You, O Merciful Lord; their minds and bodies are filled with infinite longing.

ਅਪਾਰ ਅਗਮ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਗਲ ਪੂਰਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਨੀ ॥
अपार अगम गोबिंद ठाकुर सगल पूरक प्रभ धनी ॥
Apār agam gobinḏ ṯẖākur sagal pūrak parabẖ ḏẖanī.
The Lord Master, the Lord of the Universe, is infinite and unapproachable; God is the all-pervading Lord of all.

ਸੁਰ ਸਿਧ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਜਖ ਕਿੰਨਰ ਗੁਣ ਭਨੀ ॥
सुर सिध गण गंधरब धिआवहि जख किंनर गुण भनी ॥
Sur siḏẖ gaṇ ganḏẖarab ḏẖi▫āvahi jakẖ kinnar guṇ bẖanī.
The angels, the Siddhas, the beings of spiritual perfection, the heavenly heralds and celestial singers meditate on You. The Yakhsha demons, the guards of the divine treasures, and the Kinnars, the dancers of the god of wealth chant Your Glorious Praises.

ਕੋਟਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਅਨੇਕ ਦੇਵਾ ਜਪਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰ ॥
कोटि इंद्र अनेक देवा जपत सुआमी जै जै कार ॥
Kot inḏar anek ḏevā japaṯ su▫āmī jai jai kār.
Millions of Indras and countless gods and super-human beings meditate on the Lord Master and celebrate His Praises.

ਅਨਾਥ ਨਾਥ ਦਇਆਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਉਧਾਰ ॥੨॥
अनाथ नाथ दइआल नानक साधसंगति मिलि उधार ॥२॥
Anāth nāth ḏa▫i▫āl Nānak sāḏẖsangaṯ mil uḏẖār. ||2||
The Merciful Lord is the Master of the masterless, O Nanak; joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, one is saved. ||2||

ਕੋਟਿ ਦੇਵੀ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਲਖਿਮੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਤਿ ॥
कोटि देवी जा कउ सेवहि लखिमी अनिक भाति ॥
Kot ḏevī jā ka▫o sevėh lakẖimī anik bẖāṯ.
Millions of gods and goddesses of wealth serve Him in so many ways.
