ਗੁਰਮੁਖੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਦਰੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
Gurmukʰé gurmukʰ naḋree raam pi▫aaraa raam.
As Gurmukh, the Gurmukh beholds the Lord, the Beloved Lord.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Raam naam pi▫aaraa jagaṫ nisṫaaraa raam naam vadi▫aa▫ee.
The Name of the Lord, the Emancipator of the world, is dear to him; the Name of the Lord is his glory.

ਕਲਿਜੁਗਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਹਿਥਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲਘਾਈ ॥
Kalijug raam naam bohiṫʰaa gurmukʰ paar lagʰaa▫ee.
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Lord’s Name is the boat, which carries the Gurmukh across.

ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
Halaṫ palaṫ raam naam suhélé gurmukʰ karṇee saaree.
This world, and the world hereafter, are adorned with the Lord’s Name; the Gurmukh’s lifestyle is the most excellent.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਤਿ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
Naanak ḋaaṫ ḋa▫i▫aa kar ḋévæ raam naam nisṫaaree. ||1||
O Nanak! Bestowing His kindness, the Lord gives the gift of His emancipating Name. ||1||

ਰਾਮੋ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਆ ਦੁਖ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਨਾਸ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
Raamo raam naam japi▫aa ḋukʰ kilvikʰ naas gavaa▫i▫aa raam.
I chant the Name of the Lord, Ram, Ram, which destroys my sorrows and erases my sins.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਚੈ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਚੈ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
Gur parchæ gur parchæ ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫aa mæ hirḋæ raam ravaa▫i▫aa raam.
Associating with the Guru, associating with the Guru, I practice meditation; I have enshrined the Lord within my heart.

ਰਵਿਆ ਰਾਮੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਜਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਆਏ ॥
Ravi▫aa raam hirḋæ param gaṫ paa▫ee jaa gur sarṇaa▫ee aa▫é.
I enshrined the Lord within my heart, and obtained the supreme-status, when I came to the Sanctuary of the Guru.

ਲੋਭ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਵ ਡੁਬਦੀ ਨਿਕਲੀ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿੜਾਏ ॥
Lobʰ vikaar naav dubḋee niklee jaa saṫgur naam ḋiṛaa▫é.
My boat was sinking under the weight of greed and corruption, but it was uplifted when the True Guru implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me.

ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
Jee▫a ḋaan gur pooræ ḋee▫aa raam naam chiṫ laa▫é.
The Perfect Guru has given me the gift of spiritual life, and I center my consciousness on the Lord’s Name.

ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਏ ॥੨॥
Aap kirpaal kirpaa kar ḋévæ Naanak gur sarṇaa▫é. ||2||
The Merciful Lord Himself has mercifully given this gift to me; O Nanak! I take to the Sanctuary of the Guru. ||2||

ਬਾਣੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣੀ ਸਿਧਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
Baṇee raam naam suṇee siḋʰ kaaraj sabʰ suhaa▫é raam.
Hearing the Bani of the Lord’s Name, all my affairs were brought to perfection and embellished.

ਰੋਮੇ ਰੋਮਿ ਰੋਮਿ ਰੋਮੇ ਮੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
Romé rom rom romé mæ gurmukʰ raam ḋʰi▫aa▫é raam.
With each and every hair, with each and every hair, as Gurmukh, I meditate on the Lord.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਆਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਕਾਈ ॥
Raam naam ḋʰi▫aa▫é paviṫ ho▫é aa▫é ṫis roop na rékʰ▫i▫aa kaa▫ee.
I meditate on the Lord’s Name, and become pure; He has no form or shape.

ਰਾਮੋ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਭ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੂਖ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
Raamo raam ravi▫aa gʰat anṫar sabʰ ṫarisnaa bʰookʰ gavaa▫ee.
The Name of the Lord, Ram, Ram, is permeating my heart deep within, and all of my desire and hunger has disappeared.

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਹੋਆ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ॥
Man ṫan seeṫal seegaar sabʰ ho▫aa gurmaṫ raam pargaasaa.
My mind and body are totally adorned with peace and tranquility; through the Guru’s Teachings, the Lord has been revealed to me.

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਹਮ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੩॥
Naanak aap anoograhu kee▫aa ham ḋaasan ḋaasan ḋaasaa. ||3||
The Lord Himself has shown His kind mercy to Nanak; He has made me the slave of the slaves of His slaves. ||3||

ਜਿਨੀ ਰਾਮੋ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ ਅਭਾਗੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
Jinee raamo raam naam visaari▫aa sé manmukʰ mooṛ abʰaagee raam.
Those who forget the Name of the Lord, Ram, Ram, are foolish, unfortunate, self-willed Manmukhs.

ਤਿਨ ਅੰਤਰੇ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਲਾਗੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
Ṫin anṫré moh vi▫aapæ kʰin kʰin maa▫i▫aa laagee raam.
Within, they are engrossed in emotional attachment; each and every moment, Maya clings to them.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮਲੁ ਲਾਗੀ ਮੂੜ ਭਏ ਅਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਹ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
Maa▫i▫aa mal laagee mooṛ bʰa▫é abʰaagee jin raam naam nah bʰaa▫i▫aa.
The filth of Maya clings to them, and they become unfortunate fools - they do not love the Lord’s Name.

ਅਨੇਕ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੋਰਾਇਆ ॥
Anék karam karahi abʰimaanee har raamo naam choraa▫i▫aa.
The egotistical and proud perform all sorts of rituals, but they shy away from the Lord’s Name.

ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਜਮ ਪੰਥੁ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ਕਾਲੂਖਤ ਮੋਹ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ॥
Mahaa bikʰam jam panṫʰ ḋuhélaa kaalookʰaṫ moh anḋʰi▫aaraa.
The path of Death is very arduous and painful; it is stained with the darkness of emotional attachment.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਾ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥੪॥
Naanak gurmukʰ naam ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫aa ṫaa paa▫é mokʰ ḋu▫aaraa. ||4||
O Nanak! The Gurmukh meditates on the Naam, and finds the gate of salvation. ||4||

ਰਾਮੋ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
Raamo raam naam guroo raam gurmukʰé jaaṇæ raam.
The Name of the Lord, Ram, Ram, and the Lord Guru, are known by the Gurmukh.

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਖਿਨੁ ਊਭ ਪਇਆਲੀ ਭਰਮਦਾ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਣੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
Ih manoo▫aa kʰin oobʰ paa▫i▫aalee bʰarmaḋaa ikaṫ gʰar aaṇæ raam.
One moment, this mind is in the heavens, and the next, it is in the nether regions; the Guru brings the wandering mind back to one-pointedness.

ਮਨੁ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਣੈ ਸਭ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਾਏ ॥
Man ikaṫ gʰar aaṇæ sabʰ gaṫ miṫ jaaṇæ har raamo naam rasaa▫é.
When the mind returns to one-pointedness, one totally understands the value of salvation, and enjoys the subtle essence of the Lord’s Name.

ਜਨ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਉਧਾਰਿ ਤਰਾਏ ॥
Jan kee pæj rakʰæ raam naamaa par▫hilaaḋ uḋʰaar ṫaraa▫é.
The Lord’s Name preserves the honor of His servant, as He preserved and emancipated Prahlaad.

ਰਾਮੋ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਮੋ ਰਮੁ ਊਚਾ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਤਿਆ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Raamo raam ramo ram oochaa guṇ kėhṫi▫aa anṫ na paa▫i▫aa.
So, repeat continually the Name of the Lord, Ram, Raam; chanting His Glorious Virtues, His limit cannot be found.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਭੀਨੇ ਰਾਮੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੫॥
Naanak raam naam suṇ bʰeené raamæ naam samaa▫i▫aa. ||5||
Nanak is drenched in happiness, hearing the Name of the Lord; he is merged in the Name of the Lord. ||5||
|
ਜਿਨ ਅੰਤਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਤਿਨ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਸਭ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
Jin anṫré raam naam vasæ ṫin chinṫaa sabʰ gavaa▫i▫aa raam.
Those beings, whose minds are filled with the Lord’s Name, forsake all anxiety.

ਸਭਿ ਅਰਥਾ ਸਭਿ ਧਰਮ ਮਿਲੇ ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
Sabʰ arṫʰaa sabʰ ḋʰaram milé man chinḋi▫aa so fal paa▫i▫aa raam.
They obtain all wealth, and all Dharmic faith, and the fruits of their minds’ desires.

ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥
Man chinḋi▫aa fal paa▫i▫aa raam naam ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫aa raam naam guṇ gaa▫é.
They obtain the fruits of their hearts’ desires, meditating on the Lord’s Name, and singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord’s Name.

ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਬੁਧਿ ਗਈ ਸੁਧਿ ਹੋਈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
Ḋurmaṫ kabuḋʰ ga▫ee suḋʰ ho▫ee raam naam man laa▫é.
Evil-mindedness and duality depart, and their understanding is enlightened. They attach their minds to the Name of the Lord.
