ਤਾ ਕੇ ਰੂਪ ਨ ਜਾਹੀ ਲਖਣੇ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਆਖਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
ता के रूप न जाही लखणे किआ करि आखि वीचारी ॥२॥
Ŧā ke rūp na jāhī lakẖ▫ṇe ki▫ā kar ākẖ vīcẖārī. ||2||
His beauteous forms cannot be comprehended; what can anyone accomplish by discussing and debating? ||2||
|
ਤੀਨਿ ਗੁਣਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੁਗ ਹੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚਾਰੇ ਤੇਰੀਆ ਖਾਣੀ ॥
तीनि गुणा तेरे जुग ही अंतरि चारे तेरीआ खाणी ॥
Ŧīn guṇā ṯere jug hī anṯar cẖāre ṯerī▫ā kẖāṇī.
Throughout the ages, You are the three qualities, and the four sources of creation.

ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਥੇ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥੩॥
करमु होवै ता परम पदु पाईऐ कथे अकथ कहाणी ॥३॥
Karam hovai ṯā param paḏ pā▫ī▫ai kathe akath kahāṇī. ||3||
If You show Your Mercy, then one obtains the supreme status, and speaks the Unspoken Speech. ||3||
|
ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਕਰੇ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥
तूं करता कीआ सभु तेरा किआ को करे पराणी ॥
Ŧūʼn karṯā kī▫ā sabẖ ṯerā ki▫ā ko kare parāṇī.
You are the Creator; all are created by You. What can any mortal being do?

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਅਪਣੀ ਸਾਈ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੪॥
जा कउ नदरि करहि तूं अपणी साई सचि समाणी ॥४॥
Jā ka▫o naḏar karahi ṯūʼn apṇī sā▫ī sacẖ samāṇī. ||4||
He alone, upon whom You shower Your Grace, is absorbed into the Truth. ||4||
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਲੇਤੁ ਹੈ ਜੇਤੀ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
नामु तेरा सभु कोई लेतु है जेती आवण जाणी ॥
Nām ṯerā sabẖ ko▫ī leṯ hai jeṯī āvaṇ jāṇī.
Everyone who comes and goes chants Your Name.
|
ਜਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਹੋਰ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਇਆਣੀ ॥੫॥
जा तुधु भावै ता गुरमुखि बूझै होर मनमुखि फिरै इआणी ॥५॥
Jā ṯuḏẖ bẖāvai ṯā gurmukẖ būjẖai hor manmukẖ firai i▫āṇī. ||5||
When it is pleasing to Your Will, then the Gurmukh understands. Otherwise, the self-willed manmukhs wander in ignorance. ||5||
|
ਚਾਰੇ ਵੇਦ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇ ਕਉ ਦੀਏ ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
चारे वेद ब्रहमे कउ दीए पड़ि पड़ि करे वीचारी ॥
Cẖāre veḏ barahme ka▫o ḏī▫e paṛ paṛ kare vīcẖārī.
You gave the four Vedas to Brahma, for him to read and read continually, and reflect upon.

ਤਾ ਕਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ਬਪੁੜਾ ਨਰਕਿ ਸੁਰਗਿ ਅਵਤਾਰੀ ॥੬॥
ता का हुकमु न बूझै बपुड़ा नरकि सुरगि अवतारी ॥६॥
Ŧā kā hukam na būjẖai bapuṛā narak surag avṯārī. ||6||
The wretched one does not understand His Command, and is reincarnated into heaven and hell. ||6||
|
ਜੁਗਹ ਜੁਗਹ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਕੀਏ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਅਵਤਾਰੀ ॥
जुगह जुगह के राजे कीए गावहि करि अवतारी ॥
Jugah jugah ke rāje kī▫e gāvahi kar avṯārī.
In each and every age, He creates the kings, who are sung of as His Incarnations.
|
ਤਿਨ ਭੀ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਆਖਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੭॥
तिन भी अंतु न पाइआ ता का किआ करि आखि वीचारी ॥७॥
Ŧin bẖī anṯ na pā▫i▫ā ṯā kā ki▫ā kar ākẖ vīcẖārī. ||7||
Even they have not found His limits; what can I speak of and contemplate? ||7||
|
ਤੂੰ ਸਚਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਸਾਚੁ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
तूं सचा तेरा कीआ सभु साचा देहि त साचु वखाणी ॥
Ŧūʼn sacẖā ṯerā kī▫ā sabẖ sācẖā ḏėh ṯa sācẖ vakẖāṇī.
You are True, and all that You do is True. If You bless me with the Truth, I will speak on it.

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਸਚੁ ਬੁਝਾਵਹਿ ਅਪਣਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੮॥੧॥੨੩॥
जा कउ सचु बुझावहि अपणा सहजे नामि समाणी ॥८॥१॥२३॥
Jā ka▫o sacẖ bujẖāvėh apṇā sėhje nām samāṇī. ||8||1||23||
One whom You inspire to understand the Truth, is easily absorbed into the Naam. ||8||1||23||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
आसा महला ३ ॥

Aasaa, Third Mehl:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਮਰਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
सतिगुर हमरा भरमु गवाइआ ॥
Saṯgur hamrā bẖaram gavā▫i▫ā.
The True Guru has dispelled my doubts.
|
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
हरि नामु निरंजनु मंनि वसाइआ ॥
Har nām niranjan man vasā▫i▫ā.
He has enshrined the Immaculate Name of the Lord within my mind.

ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
सबदु चीनि सदा सुखु पाइआ ॥१॥
Sabaḏ cẖīn saḏā sukẖ pā▫i▫ā. ||1||
Focusing on the Word of the Shabad, I have obtained lasting peace. ||1||
|
ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
सुणि मन मेरे ततु गिआनु ॥
Suṇ man mere ṯaṯ gi▫ān.
Listen, O my mind, to the essence of spiritual wisdom.
|
ਦੇਵਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
देवण वाला सभ बिधि जाणै गुरमुखि पाईऐ नामु निधानु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḏevaṇ vālā sabẖ biḏẖ jāṇai gurmukẖ pā▫ī▫ai nām niḏẖān. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The Great Giver knows our condition completely; the Gurmukh obtains the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
सतिगुर भेटे की वडिआई ॥
Saṯgur bẖete kī vadi▫ā▫ī.
The great glory of meeting the True Guru is
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਮਮਤਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
जिनि ममता अगनि त्रिसना बुझाई ॥
Jin mamṯā agan ṯarisnā bujẖā▫ī.
that it has quenched the fire of possessiveness and desire;

ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥੨॥
सहजे माता हरि गुण गाई ॥२॥
Sėhje māṯā har guṇ gā▫ī. ||2||
imbued with peace and poise, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
|
ਵਿਣੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
विणु गुर पूरे कोइ न जाणी ॥
viṇ gur pūre ko▫e na jāṇī.
Without the Perfect Guru, no one knows the Lord.
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲੋਭਾਣੀ ॥
माइआ मोहि दूजै लोभाणी ॥
Mā▫i▫ā mohi ḏūjai lobẖāṇī.
Attached to Maya, they are engrossed in duality.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥੩॥
गुरमुखि नामु मिलै हरि बाणी ॥३॥
Gurmukẖ nām milai har baṇī. ||3||
The Gurmukh receives the Naam, and the Bani of the Lord's Word. ||3||
|
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤਪਾਂ ਸਿਰਿ ਤਪੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
गुर सेवा तपां सिरि तपु सारु ॥
Gur sevā ṯapāʼn sir ṯap sār.
Service to the Guru is the most excellent and sublime penance of penances.
|
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਭ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
हरि जीउ मनि वसै सभ दूख विसारणहारु ॥
Har jī▫o man vasai sabẖ ḏūkẖ visāraṇhār.
The Dear Lord dwells in the mind, and all suffering departs.
|
ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਦੀਸੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ॥੪॥
दरि साचै दीसै सचिआरु ॥४॥
Ḏar sācẖai ḏīsai sacẖiār. ||4||
Then, at the Gate of the True Lord, one appears truthful. ||4||
|
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
गुर सेवा ते त्रिभवण सोझी होइ ॥
Gur sevā ṯe ṯaribẖavaṇ sojẖī ho▫e.
Serving the Guru, one comes to know the three worlds.
|
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
आपु पछाणि हरि पावै सोइ ॥
Āp pacẖẖāṇ har pāvai so▫e.
Understanding his own self, he obtains the Lord.
|
ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥
साची बाणी महलु परापति होइ ॥५॥
Sācẖī baṇī mahal parāpaṯ ho▫e. ||5||
Through the True Word of His Bani, we enter the Mansion of His Presence. ||5||
|
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥
गुर सेवा ते सभ कुल उधारे ॥
Gur sevā ṯe sabẖ kul uḏẖāre.
Serving the Guru, all of one's generations are saved.
|
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
निरमल नामु रखै उरि धारे ॥
Nirmal nām rakẖai ur ḏẖāre.
Keep the Immaculate Naam enshrined within your heart.
|
ਸਾਚੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਾਚਿ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥੬॥
साची सोभा साचि दुआरे ॥६॥
Sācẖī sobẖā sācẖ ḏu▫āre. ||6||
In the Court of the True Lord, you shall be adorned with True Glory. ||6||
|
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥
से वडभागी जि गुरि सेवा लाए ॥
Se vadbẖāgī jė gur sevā lā▫e.
How very fortunate are they, who are committed to the Guru's service.
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
अनदिनु भगति सचु नामु द्रिड़ाए ॥
An▫ḏin bẖagaṯ sacẖ nām driṛ▫ā▫e.
Night and day, they are engaged in devotional worship; the True Name is implanted within them.
|
ਨਾਮੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਸਬਾਏ ॥੭॥
नामे उधरे कुल सबाए ॥७॥
Nāme uḏẖre kul sabā▫e. ||7||
Through the Naam, all of one's generations are saved. ||7||
|
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹੈ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
नानकु साचु कहै वीचारु ॥
Nānak sācẖ kahai vīcẖār.
Nanak chants the true thought.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
हरि का नामु रखहु उरि धारि ॥
Har kā nām rakẖahu ur ḏẖār.
Keep the Name of the Lord enshrined within your heart.
|
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਰਾਤੇ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੮॥੨॥੨੪॥
हरि भगती राते मोख दुआरु ॥८॥२॥२४॥
Har bẖagṯī rāṯe mokẖ ḏu▫ār. ||8||2||24||
Imbued with devotion to the Lord, the gate of salvation is found. ||8||2||24||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
आसा महला ३ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 3.
Aasaa, Third Mehl:

ਆਸਾ ਆਸ ਕਰੇ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
आसा आस करे सभु कोई ॥
Āsā ās kare sabẖ ko▫ī.
Everyone lives, hoping in hope.
|
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਨਿਰਾਸਾ ਹੋਈ ॥
हुकमै बूझै निरासा होई ॥
Hukmai būjẖai nirāsā ho▫ī.
Understanding His Command, one becomes free of desire.
|
ਆਸਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੁਤੇ ਕਈ ਲੋਈ ॥
आसा विचि सुते कई लोई ॥
Āsā vicẖ suṯe ka▫ī lo▫ī.
So many are asleep in hope.
|
ਸੋ ਜਾਗੈ ਜਾਗਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥
सो जागै जागावै सोई ॥१॥
So jāgai jāgāvai so▫ī. ||1||
He alone wakes up, whom the Lord awakens. ||1||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
सतिगुरि नामु बुझाइआ विणु नावै भुख न जाई ॥
Saṯgur nām bujẖā▫i▫ā viṇ nāvai bẖukẖ na jā▫ī.
The True Guru has led me to understand the Naam, the Name of the Lord; without the Naam, hunger does not go away.
