ਥਾਨ ਮੁਕਾਮ ਜਲੇ ਬਿਜ ਮੰਦਰ ਮੁਛਿ ਮੁਛਿ ਕੁਇਰ ਰੁਲਾਇਆ
थान मुकाम जले बिज मंदर मुछि मुछि कुइर रुलाइआ ॥
Thān mukām jale bij manḏar mucẖẖ mucẖẖ ku▫ir rulā▫i▫ā.
He burned the rest-houses and the ancient temples; he cut the princes limb from limb, and cast them into the dust.

ਕੋਈ ਮੁਗਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਅੰਧਾ ਕਿਨੈ ਪਰਚਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
कोई मुगलु न होआ अंधा किनै न परचा लाइआ ॥४॥
Ko▫ī mugal na ho▫ā anḏẖā kinai na parcẖā lā▫i▫ā. ||4||
None of the Mogals went blind, and no one performed any miracle. ||4||

ਮੁਗਲ ਪਠਾਣਾ ਭਈ ਲੜਾਈ ਰਣ ਮਹਿ ਤੇਗ ਵਗਾਈ
मुगल पठाणा भई लड़ाई रण महि तेग वगाई ॥
Mugal paṯẖāṇā bẖa▫ī laṛā▫ī raṇ mėh ṯeg vagā▫ī.
The battle raged between the Mogals and the Pat'haans, and the swords clashed on the battlefield.

ਓਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਤੁਪਕ ਤਾਣਿ ਚਲਾਈ ਓਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਹਸਤਿ ਚਿੜਾਈ
ओन्ही तुपक ताणि चलाई ओन्ही हसति चिड़ाई ॥
Onĥī ṯupak ṯāṇ cẖalā▫ī onĥī hasaṯ cẖiṛā▫ī.
They took aim and fired their guns, and they attacked with their elephants.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕੀ ਚੀਰੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਟੀ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਮਰਣਾ ਭਾਈ ॥੫॥
जिन्ह की चीरी दरगह पाटी तिन्हा मरणा भाई ॥५॥
Jinĥ kī cẖīrī ḏargėh pātī ṯinĥā marṇā bẖā▫ī. ||5||
Those men whose letters were torn in the Lord's Court, were destined to die, O Siblings of Destiny. ||5||

ਇਕ ਹਿੰਦਵਾਣੀ ਅਵਰ ਤੁਰਕਾਣੀ ਭਟਿਆਣੀ ਠਕੁਰਾਣੀ
इक हिंदवाणी अवर तुरकाणी भटिआणी ठकुराणी ॥
Ik hinḏvāṇī avar ṯurkāṇī bẖati▫āṇī ṯẖakurāṇī.
The Hindu women, the Muslim women, the Bhattis and the Rajputs -

ਇਕਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਪੇਰਣ ਸਿਰ ਖੁਰ ਪਾਟੇ ਇਕਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਵਾਸੁ ਮਸਾਣੀ
इकन्हा पेरण सिर खुर पाटे इकन्हा वासु मसाणी ॥
Iknĥā peraṇ sir kẖur pāte iknĥā vās masāṇī.
some had their robes torn away, from head to foot, while others came to dwell in the cremation ground.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਬੰਕੇ ਘਰੀ ਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਿਉ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ॥੬॥
जिन्ह के बंके घरी न आइआ तिन्ह किउ रैणि विहाणी ॥६॥
Jinĥ ke banke gẖarī na ā▫i▫ā ṯinĥ ki▫o raiṇ vihāṇī. ||6||
Their husbands did not return home - how did they pass their night? ||6||

ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਐ
आपे करे कराए करता किस नो आखि सुणाईऐ ॥
Āpe kare karā▫e karṯā kis no ākẖ suṇā▫ī▫ai.
The Creator Himself acts, and causes others to act. Unto whom should we complain?

ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਕਿਸ ਥੈ ਜਾਇ ਰੂਆਈਐ
दुखु सुखु तेरै भाणै होवै किस थै जाइ रूआईऐ ॥
Ḏukẖ sukẖ ṯerai bẖāṇai hovai kis thai jā▫e rū▫ā▫ī▫ai.
Pleasure and pain come by Your Will; unto whom should we go and cry?

ਹੁਕਮੀ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਚਲਾਏ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੭॥੧੨॥
हुकमी हुकमि चलाए विगसै नानक लिखिआ पाईऐ ॥७॥१२॥
Hukmī hukam cẖalā▫e vigsai Nānak likẖi▫ā pā▫ī▫ai. ||7||12||
The Commander issues His Command, and is pleased. O Nanak, we receive what is written in our destiny. ||7||12||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਆਸਾ ਕਾਫੀ ਮਹਲਾ ਘਰੁ ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆ
आसा काफी महला १ घरु ८ असटपदीआ ॥
Āsā kāfī mėhlā 1 gẖar 8 asatpaḏī▫ā.
Aasaa, Kaafee, First Mehl, Eighth House, Ashtapadees:

ਜੈਸੇ ਗੋਇਲਿ ਗੋਇਲੀ ਤੈਸੇ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ
जैसे गोइलि गोइली तैसे संसारा ॥
Jaise go▫il go▫ilī ṯaise sansārā.
As the shepherd is in the field for only a short time, so is one in the world.

ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਆਦਮੀ ਬਾਂਧਹਿ ਘਰ ਬਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
कूड़ु कमावहि आदमी बांधहि घर बारा ॥१॥
Kūṛ kamāvėh āḏmī bāʼnḏẖėh gẖar bārā. ||1||
Practicing falsehood, they build their homes. ||1||

ਜਾਗਹੁ ਜਾਗਹੁ ਸੂਤਿਹੋ ਚਲਿਆ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
जागहु जागहु सूतिहो चलिआ वणजारा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jāgahu jāgahu sūṯiho cẖali▫ā vaṇjārā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Wake up! Wake up! O sleepers, see that the travelling merchant is leaving. ||1||Pause||

ਨੀਤ ਨੀਤ ਘਰ ਬਾਂਧੀਅਹਿ ਜੇ ਰਹਣਾ ਹੋਈ
नीत नीत घर बांधीअहि जे रहणा होई ॥
Nīṯ nīṯ gẖar bāʼnḏẖī▫ah je rahṇā ho▫ī.
Go ahead and build your houses, if you think you will stay here forever and ever.

ਪਿੰਡੁ ਪਵੈ ਜੀਉ ਚਲਸੀ ਜੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੨॥
पिंडु पवै जीउ चलसी जे जाणै कोई ॥२॥
Pind pavai jī▫o cẖalsī je jāṇai ko▫ī. ||2||
The body shall fall, and the soul shall depart; if only they knew this. ||2||

ਓਹੀ ਓਹੀ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਹੈ ਹੋਸੀ ਸੋਈ
ओही ओही किआ करहु है होसी सोई ॥
Ohī ohī ki▫ā karahu hai hosī so▫ī.
Why do you cry out and mourn for the dead? The Lord is, and shall always be.

ਤੁਮ ਰੋਵਹੁਗੇ ਓਸ ਨੋ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਉ ਕਉਣੁ ਰੋਈ ॥੩॥
तुम रोवहुगे ओस नो तुम्ह कउ कउणु रोई ॥३॥
Ŧum rovhuge os no ṯumĥ ka▫o ka▫uṇ ro▫ī. ||3||
You mourn for that person, but who will mourn for you? ||3||

ਧੰਧਾ ਪਿਟਿਹੁ ਭਾਈਹੋ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵਹੁ
धंधा पिटिहु भाईहो तुम्ह कूड़ु कमावहु ॥
Ḏẖanḏẖā pitihu bẖā▫īho ṯumĥ kūṛ kamāvahu.
You are engrossed in worldly entanglements, O Siblings of Destiny, and you are practicing falsehood.

ਓਹੁ ਸੁਣਈ ਕਤ ਹੀ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਲੋਕ ਸੁਣਾਵਹੁ ॥੪॥
ओहु न सुणई कत ही तुम्ह लोक सुणावहु ॥४॥
Oh na suṇ▫ī kaṯ hī ṯumĥ lok suṇavhu. ||4||
The dead person does not hear anything at all; your cries are heard only by other people. ||4||

ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਸੁਤਾ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਾਗਾਏ ਸੋਈ
जिस ते सुता नानका जागाए सोई ॥
Jis ṯe suṯā nānkā jāgā▫e so▫ī.
Only the Lord, who causes the mortal to sleep, O Nanak, can awaken him again.

ਜੇ ਘਰੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਾਂ ਨੀਦ ਹੋਈ ॥੫॥
जे घरु बूझै आपणा तां नीद न होई ॥५॥
Je gẖar būjẖai āpṇā ṯāʼn nīḏ na ho▫ī. ||5||
One who understands his true home, does not sleep. ||5||

ਜੇ ਚਲਦਾ ਲੈ ਚਲਿਆ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੰਪੈ ਨਾਲੇ
जे चलदा लै चलिआ किछु स्मपै नाले ॥
Je cẖalḏā lai cẖali▫ā kicẖẖ sampai nāle.
If the departing mortal can take his wealth with him,

ਤਾ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੈ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥੬॥
ता धनु संचहु देखि कै बूझहु बीचारे ॥६॥
Ŧā ḏẖan sancẖahu ḏekẖ kai būjẖhu bīcẖāre. ||6||
then go ahead and gather wealth yourself. See this, reflect upon it, and understand. ||6||

ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਮਖਸੂਦੁ ਲੈਹੁ ਮਤ ਪਛੋਤਾਵਹੁ
वणजु करहु मखसूदु लैहु मत पछोतावहु ॥
vaṇaj karahu makẖsūḏ laihu maṯ pacẖẖoṯāvahu.
Make your deals, and obtain the true merchandise, or else you shall regret it later.

ਅਉਗਣ ਛੋਡਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਕਰਹੁ ਐਸੇ ਤਤੁ ਪਰਾਵਹੁ ॥੭॥
अउगण छोडहु गुण करहु ऐसे ततु परावहु ॥७॥
A▫ugaṇ cẖẖodahu guṇ karahu aise ṯaṯ parāvahu. ||7||
Abandon your vices, and practice virtue, and you shall obtain the essence of reality. ||7||

ਧਰਮੁ ਭੂਮਿ ਸਤੁ ਬੀਜੁ ਕਰਿ ਐਸੀ ਕਿਰਸ ਕਮਾਵਹੁ
धरमु भूमि सतु बीजु करि ऐसी किरस कमावहु ॥
Ḏẖaram bẖūm saṯ bīj kar aisī kiras kamāvahu.
Plant the seed of Truth in the soil of Dharmic faith, and practice such farming.

ਤਾਂ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਜਾਣੀਅਹੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਲੈ ਜਾਵਹੁ ॥੮॥
तां वापारी जाणीअहु लाहा लै जावहु ॥८॥
Ŧāʼn vāpārī jāṇī▫ahu lāhā lai jāvhu. ||8||
Only then will you be known as a merchant, if you take your profits with you. ||8||

ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ
करमु होवै सतिगुरु मिलै बूझै बीचारा ॥
Karam hovai saṯgur milai būjẖai bīcẖārā.
If the Lord shows His Mercy, one meets the True Guru; contemplating Him, one comes to understand.

ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਸੁਣੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ ॥੯॥
नामु वखाणै सुणे नामु नामे बिउहारा ॥९॥
Nām vakẖāṇai suṇe nām nāme bi▫uhārā. ||9||
Then, one chants the Naam, hears the Naam, and deals only in the Naam. ||9||

ਜਿਉ ਲਾਹਾ ਤੋਟਾ ਤਿਵੈ ਵਾਟ ਚਲਦੀ ਆਈ
जिउ लाहा तोटा तिवै वाट चलदी आई ॥
Ji▫o lāhā ṯotā ṯivai vāt cẖalḏī ā▫ī.
As is the profit, so is the loss; this is the way of the world.

ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸਾਈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੧੦॥੧੩॥
जो तिसु भावै नानका साई वडिआई ॥१०॥१३॥
Jo ṯis bẖāvai nānkā sā▫ī vadi▫ā▫ī. ||10||13||
Whatever pleases His Will, O Nanak, is glory for me. ||10||13||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ
आसा महला १ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 1.
Aasaa, First Mehl:

ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਡਾ ਢੂਢੀਆ ਕੋ ਨੀਮ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਮੈਡਾ
चारे कुंडा ढूढीआ को नीम्ही मैडा ॥
Cẖāre kundā dẖūdẖī▫ā ko nīmĥī maidā.
I have searched in the four directions, but no one is mine.

ਜੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਤੂ ਮੈ ਹਉ ਤੈਡਾ ॥੧॥
जे तुधु भावै साहिबा तू मै हउ तैडा ॥१॥
Je ṯuḏẖ bẖāvai sāhibā ṯū mai ha▫o ṯaidā. ||1||
If it pleases You, O Lord Master, then You are mine, and I am Yours. ||1||

ਦਰੁ ਬੀਭਾ ਮੈ ਨੀਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਕੋ ਕੈ ਕਰੀ ਸਲਾਮੁ
दरु बीभा मै नीम्हि को कै करी सलामु ॥
Ḏar bībẖā mai nīmiĥ ko kai karī salām.
There is no other door for me; where shall I go to worship?

ਹਿਕੋ ਮੈਡਾ ਤੂ ਧਣੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
हिको मैडा तू धणी साचा मुखि नामु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Hiko maidā ṯū ḏẖaṇī sācẖā mukẖ nām. ||1|| rahā▫o.
You are my only Lord; Your True Name is in my mouth. ||1||Pause||

ਸਿਧਾ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸਿਧ ਪੀਰ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ
सिधा सेवनि सिध पीर मागहि रिधि सिधि ॥
Siḏẖā sevan siḏẖ pīr māgėh riḏẖ siḏẖ.
Some serve the Siddhas, the beings of spiritual perfection, and some serve spiritual teachers; they beg for wealth and miraculous powers.

ਮੈ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਰ ਬੁਧਿ ॥੨॥
मै इकु नामु न वीसरै साचे गुर बुधि ॥२॥
Mai ik nām na vīsrai sācẖe gur buḏẖ. ||2||
May I never forget the Naam, the Name of the One Lord. This is the wisdom of the True Guru. ||2||
