ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵੀਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
Alakẖ abẖevī▫ai hāʼn.
He is unknowable and inscrutable.
|
ਤਾਂ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ŧāʼn si▫o parīṯ kar hāʼn.
Enshrine love for Him.
|
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਮਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
Binas na jā▫e mar hāʼn.
He does not perish, or go away, or die.
|
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥
Gur ṯe jāni▫ā hāʼn.
He is known only through the Guru.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੨॥੩॥੧੫੯॥
Nānak man māni▫ā mere manā. ||2||3||159||
Nanak, my mind is satisfied with the Lord, O my mind. ||2||3||159||

ਆਸਾਵਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Āsāvarī mėhlā 5.
Aasaavaree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਏਕਾ ਓਟ ਗਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ėkā ot gahu hāʼn.
Grab hold of the Support of the One Lord.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
Gur kā sabaḏ kaho hāʼn.
Chant the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
|
ਆਗਿਆ ਸਤਿ ਸਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
Āgi▫ā saṯ saho hāʼn.
Submit to the Order of the True Lord.
|
ਮਨਹਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਲਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
Manėh niḏẖān lahu hāʼn.
Receive the treasure in your mind.
|
ਸੁਖਹਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sukẖėh samā▫ī▫ai mere manā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Thus you shall be absorbed in peace, O my mind. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜੀਵਤ ਜੋ ਮਰੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
Jīvaṯ jo marai hāʼn.
One who is dead while yet alive,
|
ਦੁਤਰੁ ਸੋ ਤਰੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ḏuṯar so ṯarai hāʼn.
crosses over the terrifying world-ocean.
|
ਸਭ ਕੀ ਰੇਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Sabẖ kī ren ho▫e hāʼn.
One who becomes the dust of all -
|
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕਹਉ ਸੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Nirbẖa▫o kaha▫o so▫e hāʼn.
he alone is called fearless.
|
ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥
Mite anḏesi▫ā hāʼn.
His anxieties are removed
|
ਸੰਤ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥
Sanṯ upḏesi▫ā mere manā. ||1||
by the Teachings of the Saints, O my mind. ||1||
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
Jis jan nām sukẖ hāʼn.
That humble being, who takes happiness in the Naam, the Name of the Lord -
|
ਤਿਸੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਕਦੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ŧis nikat na kaḏe ḏukẖ hāʼn.
pain never draws near him.
|
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਨੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Jo har har jas sune hāʼn.
One who listens to the Praise of the Lord, Har, Har,
|
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੰਨੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Sabẖ ko ṯis manne hāʼn.
is obeyed by all men.
|
ਸਫਲੁ ਸੁ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ ॥
Safal so ā▫i▫ā hāʼn.
How fortunate it is that he came into the world;
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੬੦॥
Nānak parabẖ bẖā▫i▫ā mere manā. ||2||4||160||
Nanak, he is pleasing to God, O my mind. ||2||4||160||

ਆਸਾਵਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaavaree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
Mil har jas gā▫ī▫ai hāʼn.
Meeting together, let us sing the Praises of the Lord,
|
ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
Param paḏ pā▫ī▫ai hāʼn.
and attain the supreme state.
|
ਉਆ ਰਸ ਜੋ ਬਿਧੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
U▫ā ras jo biḏẖe hāʼn.
Those who obtain that sublime essence,
|
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਸਗਲ ਸਿਧੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ŧā ka▫o sagal siḏẖe hāʼn.
obtain all of the spiritual powers of the Siddhas.
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥
An▫ḏin jāgi▫ā hāʼn.
They remain awake and aware night and day;
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਡਭਾਗਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Nānak badbẖāgi▫ā mere manā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Nanak, they are blessed by great good fortune, O my mind. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸੰਤ ਪਗ ਧੋਈਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
Sanṯ pag ḏẖo▫ī▫ai hāʼn.
Let us wash the feet of the Saints;
|
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਖੋਈਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ḏurmaṯ kẖo▫ī▫ai hāʼn.
our evil-mindedness shall be cleansed.
|
ਦਾਸਹ ਰੇਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ḏāsah ren ho▫e hāʼn.
Becoming the dust of the feet of the Lord's slaves,
|
ਬਿਆਪੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Bi▫āpai ḏukẖ na ko▫e hāʼn.
one shall not be afflicted with pain.
|
ਭਗਤਾਂ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
Bẖagṯāʼn saran par hāʼn.
Taking to the Sanctuary of His devotees,
|
ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਕਦੇ ਮਰੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
Janam na kaḏe mar hāʼn.
he is no longer subject to birth and death.
|
ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਸੇ ਭਏ ਹਾਂ ॥
Asthir se bẖa▫e hāʼn.
They alone become eternal,
|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਜਪਿ ਲਏ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥
Har har jinĥ jap la▫e mere manā. ||1||
who chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my mind. ||1||
|
ਸਾਜਨੁ ਮੀਤੁ ਤੂੰ ਹਾਂ ॥
Sājan mīṯ ṯūʼn hāʼn.
You are my Friend, my Best Friend.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇ ਮੂੰ ਹਾਂ ॥
Nām driṛ▫ā▫e mūʼn hāʼn.
Please, implant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me.
|
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ŧis bin nāhi ko▫e hāʼn.
Without Him, there is not any other.
|
ਮਨਹਿ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਸੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Manėh arāḏẖ so▫e hāʼn.
Within my mind, I worship Him in adoration.
|
ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
Nimakẖ na vīsrai hāʼn.
I do not forget Him, even for an instant.
|
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਸਰੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ŧis bin ki▫o sarai hāʼn.
How can I live without Him?
|
ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ਜਾਉ ਹਾਂ ॥
Gur ka▫o kurbān jā▫o hāʼn.
I am a sacrifice to the Guru.
|
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਪੇ ਨਾਉ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੬੧॥
Nānak jape nā▫o mere manā. ||2||5||161||
Nanak, chant the Name, O my mind. ||2||5||161||

ਆਸਾਵਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaavaree, Fifth Mehl:

ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੂੰ ਹਾਂ ॥
Kāran karan ṯūʼn hāʼn.
You are the Creator, the Cause of causes.
|
ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾ ਸੁਝੈ ਮੂੰ ਹਾਂ ॥
Avar nā sujẖai mūʼn hāʼn.
I cannot think of any other.
|
ਕਰਹਿ ਸੁ ਹੋਈਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
Karahi so ho▫ī▫ai hāʼn.
Whatever You do, comes to pass.
|
ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਸੋਈਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
Sahj sukẖ so▫ī▫ai hāʼn.
I sleep in peace and poise.
|
ਧੀਰਜ ਮਨਿ ਭਏ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ḏẖīraj man bẖa▫e hāʼn.
My mind has become patient,
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਦਰਿ ਪਏ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Parabẖ kai ḏar pa▫e mere manā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
since I fell at God's Door, O my mind. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਮੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Sāḏẖū sangme hāʼn.
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy,
|
ਪੂਰਨ ਸੰਜਮੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Pūran sanjme hāʼn.
I gained perfect control over my senses.
|
ਜਬ ਤੇ ਛੁਟੇ ਆਪ ਹਾਂ ॥
Jab ṯe cẖẖute āp hāʼn.
Ever since I rid myself of my self-conceit,
|
ਤਬ ਤੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਤਾਪ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ŧab ṯe mite ṯāp hāʼn.
my sufferings have ended.
|
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀਆ ਹਾਂ ॥
Kirpā ḏẖārī▫ā hāʼn.
He has showered His Mercy upon me.
|
ਪਤਿ ਰਖੁ ਬਨਵਾਰੀਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥
Paṯ rakẖ banvārī▫ā mere manā. ||1||
The Creator Lord has preserved my honor, O my mind. ||1||
|
ਇਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ih sukẖ jānī▫ai hāʼn.
Know that this is the only peace;
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਮਾਨੀਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
Har kare so mānī▫ai hāʼn.
accept whatever the Lord does.
|
ਮੰਦਾ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Manḏā nāhi ko▫e hāʼn.
No one is bad.
|
ਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਰੇਨ ਹੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Sanṯ kī ren ho▫e hāʼn.
Become the dust of the Feet of the Saints.
|
ਆਪੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਖੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
Āpe jis rakẖai hāʼn.
He Himself preserves those
|
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੋ ਚਖੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੨॥
Har amriṯ so cẖakẖai mere manā. ||2||
who taste the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord, O my mind. ||2||
|
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Jis kā nāhi ko▫e hāʼn.
One who has no one to call his own -
|
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ŧis kā parabẖū so▫e hāʼn.
God belongs to him.
|
ਅੰਤਰਗਤਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
Anṯargaṯ bujẖai hāʼn.
God knows the state of our innermost being.
|
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੁਝੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
Sabẖ kicẖẖ ṯis sujẖai hāʼn.
He knows everything.
|
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
Paṯiṯ uḏẖār leho hāʼn.
Please, Lord, save the sinners.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਏਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੩॥੬॥੧੬੨॥
Nānak arḏās ehu mere manā. ||3||6||162||
This is Nanak's prayer, O my mind. ||3||6||162||

O my stranger soul,

ਸੁਨਤ ਸੰਦੇਸਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sunaṯ sanḏesi▫ā hāʼn. ||1|| rahā▫o.
listen to the call. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਾ ਸਿਉ ਰਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
Jā si▫o racẖ rahe hāʼn.
Whatever you are attached to,
