ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਜਪਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ॥
Shed thy pride, worldly-love, sin and falsehood and ever utter the Pervading Lord's Name.

ਮਨ ਸੰਤਨਾ ਕੈ ਚਰਨਿ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੧॥
O man, attach thyself to the saints' feet.
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਜਾਗੁ ॥
The Lord is the Cherisher of the world, merciful to the poor. the Purifier of the sinners and thy Transcendent God. Awake and remember His Feet.

ਕਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਾਗੁ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੫੫॥
Perform Lord's Devotional Service thy destiny shall become perfect, O Nanak.

Asa 5th Guru.
|
ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਬੈਰਾਗ ਅਨੰਦੀ ਖੇਲੁ ਰੀ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
The Lord has exhibited the play of weal and woe, renunciation and revelry. Pause.

ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਭੈ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਉਠਿ ਧਾਇਓ ॥
In a moment, man is in fear, in a moment in fearlessness and in moment he gets up and departs.
|
ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਰਸ ਭੋਗਨ ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਖਿਨਹੂ ਤਜਿ ਜਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
One moment he enjoys relishes, in another he revels, and in another moments he leaves and goes away.
|
ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਜੋਗ ਤਾਪ ਬਹੁ ਪੂਜਾ ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਭਰਮਾਇਓ ॥
One moment he practises Yoga, penance and worship of many kinds, and one moment he wanders in doubt.
|
ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇਓ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੫੬॥
At a moment, Nanak, God out of mercy, attaches man to His love, by association with the saints.

ਰਾਗੁ ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੧੭ ਆਸਾਵਰੀ
Asa Measure 5th Guru.
|
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
There is but one God. By True Guru's grace He is obtained.
|
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
Meditate thou on Lord, the World sustainer,
|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
and enshrine love in thy mind for God's Name.
|
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਸੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਧਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
What the Guru says, place that in thy mind.
|
ਅਨ ਸਿਉ ਤੋਰਿ ਫੇਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
Tear thyself off from another and turn to the Lord;
|
ਐਸੇ ਲਾਲਨੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਰੀ ਸਖੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
like this thou shalt obtain thy Beloved, O my maid. Pause.
|
ਪੰਕਜ ਮੋਹ ਸਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
In the world-pool is the mud of attachment.
|
ਪਗੁ ਨਹੀ ਚਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
Man's feet, therefore, walk not towards God.
|
ਗਹਡਿਓ ਮੂੜ ਨਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
The foolish man is thus stuck up. He makes no other effort.
|
ਅਨਿਨ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
Other solutions are all tried,
|
ਤਉ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਸਰਨਿ ਪੈ ਰੀ ਸਖੀ ॥੧॥
thou shalt only issue forth, O mate, if thou enter Lord's sanctuary.
|
ਥਿਰ ਥਿਰ ਚਿਤ ਥਿਰ ਹਾਂ ॥
This immovable and steady and firm is your mind.
|
ਬਨੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
The forest and home are alike to me.
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਏਕ ਪਿਰ ਹਾਂ ॥
Within my mind abides the one Beloved.
|
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਧਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
Manifold worldly occupations I keep off my mind.
|
ਰਾਜਨ ਜੋਗੁ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
I enjoy temporal and spiritual sovereignty.
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੋਗ ਅਲੋਗੀ ਰੀ ਸਖੀ ॥੨॥੧॥੧੫੭॥
Says Nanak, hear, O maid, like this, while abiding with people, I remain apart from the people.

ਆਸਾਵਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Asawari 5th Guru.
|
ਮਨਸਾ ਏਕ ਮਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
Cherish but one desire.
|
ਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਤ ਧਿਆਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
Ever fix thy attention on the Guru.
|
ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਸੰਤ ਮੰਤ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
Fix the comprehension of the saints word in thy mind.
|
ਸੇਵਾ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
Serve the feet of the Guru.
|
ਤਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਗੁਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Then, by Guru's grace, shalt thou meet thy Master, O my soul. Pause.
|
ਟੂਟੇ ਅਨ ਭਰਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
Then, all the doubts are dispelled,
|
ਰਵਿਓ ਸਰਬ ਥਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
and one sees the Lord contained in all the places.
|
ਲਹਿਓ ਜਮ ਭਇਆਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
His fear of death is dispelled;,
|
ਪਾਇਓ ਪੇਡ ਥਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
and he obtains the Primal Place.
|
ਤਉ ਚੂਕੀ ਸਗਲ ਕਾਨਿ ॥੧॥
Then is removed the subservience of all.
|
ਲਹਨੋ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਥਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
On whose brow there is such a writ,
|
ਭੈ ਪਾਵਕ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
he alone attains God's Name and crosses the dreadful fire ocean.
|
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਥਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
He acquires an abode in his own home,
|
ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਰਸਹਿ ਮਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
and he enjoys the Lord's relish of relishes.
|
ਲਾਥੀ ਤਿਸ ਭੁਖਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
His hunger is appeased,
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਓ ਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੫੮॥
Says Nanak, he is absorbed in the Lord, O my soul.

ਆਸਾਵਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Asawari 5th Guru.
|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
Sing God, God, God, and His praises, O man!
|
ਜਪੀਐ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
and Him thou utter with the music of equipoise.
|
ਸਾਧੂ ਰਸਨ ਭਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
The saints tongue repeats Lord's Name.
|
ਛੂਟਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
This, I have heard, is the only way to emancipation.
|
ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡ ਪੁਨੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Through high merit alone this way is found, O my soul. Pause.
|
ਖੋਜਹਿ ਜਨ ਮੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
Search Him the silent sages.
|
ਸ੍ਰਬ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
The Lord is the Master of all.
|
ਦੁਲਭ ਕਲਿ ਦੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
In the Dark age, difficult is to obtain the Lord in this world.
|
ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
He is the Destroyer of distress.
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਨੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥
The Lord is the Fulfiller of Desires, O my soul.
|
ਮਨ ਸੋ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
My soul, serve thou that Lord.
