ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਸਗਲ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਸਭ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਅਸਨਾਹਾ ॥੧॥
पुत्र कलत्र ग्रिह सगल समग्री सभ मिथिआ असनाहा ॥१॥
Puṯar kalṯar garih sagal samagrī sabẖ mithi▫ā asnāhā. ||1||
Children wife home and all other property the love of all these things is false.

ਰੇ ਮਨ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਹੈ ਹਾ ਹਾ ॥
रे मन किआ करहि है हा हा ॥
Re man ki▫ā karahi hai hā hā.
O man why doest thou burst out laughing.
|
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਜੈਸੇ ਹਰਿਚੰਦਉਰੀ ਇਕੁ ਰਾਮ ਭਜਨੁ ਲੈ ਲਾਹਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
द्रिसटि देखु जैसे हरिचंदउरी इकु राम भजनु लै लाहा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḏarisat ḏekẖ jaise haricẖanḏ▫urī ik rām bẖajan lai lāhā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
See with thine eyes that these things are like an enchanted city Obtain thou the profit of one Lord's meditation. Pause.

ਜੈਸੇ ਬਸਤਰ ਦੇਹ ਓਢਾਨੇ ਦਿਨ ਦੋਇ ਚਾਰਿ ਭੋਰਾਹਾ ॥
जैसे बसतर देह ओढाने दिन दोइ चारि भोराहा ॥
Jaise basṯar ḏeh odẖāne ḏin ḏo▫e cẖār bẖorāhā.
As the clothes worn on the body wear off in two or four days so does the body.

ਭੀਤਿ ਊਪਰੇ ਕੇਤਕੁ ਧਾਈਐ ਅੰਤਿ ਓਰਕੋ ਆਹਾ ॥੨॥
भीति ऊपरे केतकु धाईऐ अंति ओरको आहा ॥२॥
Bẖīṯ ūpre keṯak ḏẖā▫ī▫ai anṯ orko āhā. ||2||
How long one can run on a wall. At last he arrives at its end.

ਜੈਸੇ ਅੰਭ ਕੁੰਡ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਪਰਤ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਗਲਿ ਜਾਹਾ ॥
जैसे अम्भ कुंड करि राखिओ परत सिंधु गलि जाहा ॥
Jaise ambẖ kund kar rākẖi▫o paraṯ sinḏẖ gal jāhā.
As salt falling into the water kept in a reservoir gets dissolved so does the body.

ਆਵਗਿ ਆਗਿਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਸੀ ਮੁਹਤ ਚਸਾਹਾ ॥੩॥
आवगि आगिआ पारब्रहम की उठि जासी मुहत चसाहा ॥३॥
Āvag āgi▫ā pārbarahm kī uṯẖ jāsī muhaṯ cẖasāhā. ||3||
When the order of the Supreme Lord arrives the soul arises and departs in a moment and trice.

ਰੇ ਮਨ ਲੇਖੈ ਚਾਲਹਿ ਲੇਖੈ ਬੈਸਹਿ ਲੇਖੈ ਲੈਦਾ ਸਾਹਾ ॥
रे मन लेखै चालहि लेखै बैसहि लेखै लैदा साहा ॥
Re man lekẖai cẖālėh lekẖai baisėh lekẖai laiḏā sāhā.
O man thy walking is counted thy sitting is counted and so is counted thy taking in of the breath.

ਸਦਾ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਓਟਾਹਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨੩॥
सदा कीरति करि नानक हरि की उबरे सतिगुर चरण ओटाहा ॥४॥१॥१२३॥
Saḏā kīraṯ kar Nānak har kī ubre saṯgur cẖaraṇ otāhā. ||4||1||123||
Ever sing thou God's praises O Nanak and thou shalt be saved under the shelter of the True Guru's Feet.

Asa 5th Guru.

ਅਪੁਸਟ ਬਾਤ ਤੇ ਭਈ ਸੀਧਰੀ ਦੂਤ ਦੁਸਟ ਸਜਨਈ ॥
अपुसट बात ते भई सीधरी दूत दुसट सजनई ॥
Apusat bāṯ ṯe bẖa▫ī sīḏẖrī ḏūṯ ḏusat sajna▫ī.
From the reversed thing it has become upright and the deadly enemies and miscreants have become friends.

ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਮਹਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਿਓ ਮਲੀਨ ਬੁਧਿ ਹਛਨਈ ॥੧॥
अंधकार महि रतनु प्रगासिओ मलीन बुधि हछनई ॥१॥
Anḏẖkār mėh raṯan pargāsi▫o malīn buḏẖ hacẖẖna▫ī. ||1||
The jewel(of Divine Knowledge) has shone in darkness and the impure understanding has become wholesome.

ਜਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਈ ॥
जउ किरपा गोबिंद भई ॥
Ja▫o kirpā gobinḏ bẖa▫ī.
When the World-Lord became merciful.
|
ਸੁਖ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सुख स्मपति हरि नाम फल पाए सतिगुर मिलई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sukẖ sampaṯ har nām fal pā▫e saṯgur mil▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I met the true Guru. and I have obtained peace wealth and the fruit of God's Name. Pause.

ਮੋਹਿ ਕਿਰਪਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਨਤ ਸਗਲ ਭਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਈ ॥
मोहि किरपन कउ कोइ न जानत सगल भवन प्रगटई ॥
Mohi kirpan ka▫o ko▫e na jānaṯ sagal bẖavan pargata▫ī.
No one knew me the miserly one now I have become famous all the world over.

ਸੰਗਿ ਬੈਠਨੋ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਪਾਵਤ ਹੁਣਿ ਸਗਲ ਚਰਣ ਸੇਵਈ ॥੨॥
संगि बैठनो कही न पावत हुणि सगल चरण सेवई ॥२॥
Sang baiṯẖno kahī na pāvaṯ huṇ sagal cẖaraṇ sev▫ī. ||2||
Previously no one allowed me to sit by him but now all worship my feet.

ਆਢ ਆਢ ਕਉ ਫਿਰਤ ਢੂੰਢਤੇ ਮਨ ਸਗਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝਿ ਗਈ ॥
आढ आढ कउ फिरत ढूंढते मन सगल त्रिसन बुझि गई ॥
Ādẖ ādẖ ka▫o firaṯ dẖūndẖ▫ṯe man sagal ṯarisan bujẖ ga▫ī.
Formerly I wandered in search of half a pice and now all the thirst of my mind is quenched.

ਏਕੁ ਬੋਲੁ ਭੀ ਖਵਤੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਸੀਤਲਈ ॥੩॥
एकु बोलु भी खवतो नाही साधसंगति सीतलई ॥३॥
Ėk bol bẖī kẖavṯo nāhī sāḏẖsangaṯ sīṯla▫ī. ||3||
I could not bear even one reproach from any one but now I am calmed through the society of saints.

ਏਕ ਜੀਹ ਗੁਣ ਕਵਨ ਵਖਾਨੈ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਮਈ ॥
एक जीह गुण कवन वखानै अगम अगम अगमई ॥
Ėk jīh guṇ kavan vakẖānai agam agam agma▫ī.
What merits of the Inaccessible Infinite and Unfathomable Lord can one tongue describe.

ਦਾਸੁ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸ ਕੋ ਕਰੀਅਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਈ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੨੪॥
दासु दास दास को करीअहु जन नानक हरि सरणई ॥४॥२॥१२४॥
Ḏās ḏās ḏās ko karī▫ahu jan Nānak har sarṇa▫ī. ||4||2||124||
Serf Nanak is under God's protection O Lord make him the slave of the slave of Thy slave.

ਰੇ ਮੂੜੇ ਲਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਤੂੰ ਢੀਲਾ ਢੀਲਾ ਤੋਟੇ ਕਉ ਬੇਗਿ ਧਾਇਆ ॥
रे मूड़े लाहे कउ तूं ढीला ढीला तोटे कउ बेगि धाइआ ॥
Re mūṛe lāhe ka▫o ṯūʼn dẖīlā dẖīlā ṯote ka▫o beg ḏẖā▫i▫ā.
O Fool thou art very slow in regard to thy profit but in regard to thy loss thou hastily runnest.

ਸਸਤ ਵਖਰੁ ਤੂੰ ਘਿੰਨਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਪਾਪੀ ਬਾਧਾ ਰੇਨਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
ससत वखरु तूं घिंनहि नाही पापी बाधा रेनाइआ ॥१॥
Sasaṯ vakẖar ṯūʼn gẖinnėh nāhī pāpī bāḏẖā renā▫i▫ā. ||1||
O sinner thou takest not the cheap merchandise of God's Name but art tied to the debt of vice.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸਾਇਆ ॥
सतिगुर तेरी आसाइआ ॥
Saṯgur ṯerī āsā▫i▫ā.
My true Guru my hope is in thee.
|
ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮੈ ਏਹਾ ਓਟਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
पतित पावनु तेरो नामु पारब्रहम मै एहा ओटाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Paṯiṯ pāvan ṯero nām pārbarahm mai ehā otā▫i▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
O Transcendent Lord Thy Name is the purifier of the sinners and this alone is my shelter. Pause.
|
ਗੰਧਣ ਵੈਣ ਸੁਣਹਿ ਉਰਝਾਵਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਅਲਕਾਇਆ ॥
गंधण वैण सुणहि उरझावहि नामु लैत अलकाइआ ॥
Ganḏẖaṇ vaiṇ suṇėh urjẖāvahi nām laiṯ alkā▫i▫ā.
Listening to the evil songs thou art entangled but in repeating the Name thou art indolent.

ਨਿੰਦ ਚਿੰਦ ਕਉ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਉਮਾਹਿਓ ਬੂਝੀ ਉਲਟਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
निंद चिंद कउ बहुतु उमाहिओ बूझी उलटाइआ ॥२॥
Ninḏ cẖinḏ ka▫o bahuṯ umāhi▫o būjẖī ultā▫i▫ā. ||2||
Thou art greatly delighted in the idea of slander and art possessed of perverted understanding.
|
ਪਰ ਧਨ ਪਰ ਤਨ ਪਰ ਤੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਅਖਾਧਿ ਖਾਹਿ ਹਰਕਾਇਆ ॥
पर धन पर तन पर ती निंदा अखाधि खाहि हरकाइआ ॥
Par ḏẖan par ṯan par ṯī ninḏā akẖāḏẖ kẖāhi harkā▫i▫ā.
Thou covetest wealth, son and wife of others, slander others and by eating the uneatable thou has gone mad.

ਸਾਚ ਧਰਮ ਸਿਉ ਰੁਚਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ਸਤਿ ਸੁਨਤ ਛੋਹਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
साच धरम सिउ रुचि नही आवै सति सुनत छोहाइआ ॥३॥
Sācẖ ḏẖaram si▫o rucẖ nahī āvai saṯ sunaṯ cẖẖohā▫i▫ā. ||3||
Thou cherishes not love for the True faith and on hearing the truth thou art enraged.

ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਗਤ ਟੇਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇਆ ॥
दीन दइआल क्रिपाल प्रभ ठाकुर भगत टेक हरि नाइआ ॥
Ḏīn ḏa▫i▫āl kirpāl parabẖ ṯẖākur bẖagaṯ tek har nā▫i▫ā.
O compassionate to the poor. merciful Lord Master Thy Name is the prop of Thine saints.

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਹਿ ਸਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਇਓ ਰਾਖੁ ਲਾਜ ਅਪਨਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨੫॥
नानक आहि सरण प्रभ आइओ राखु लाज अपनाइआ ॥४॥३॥१२५॥
Nānak āhi saraṇ parabẖ ā▫i▫o rākẖ lāj apnā▫i▫ā. ||4||3||125||
O Lord Nanak has eagerly entered Thine Sanctuary Make him Thy own and save his honour.

ਮਿਥਿਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਪਟਾਏ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਧੇ ॥
मिथिआ संगि संगि लपटाए मोह माइआ करि बाधे ॥
Mithi▫ā sang sang laptā▫e moh mā▫i▫ā kar bāḏẖe.
Men are attached with the association of perishable things With the love of mammon they are bound.

ਜਹ ਜਾਨੋ ਸੋ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਭਏ ਆਂਧੇ ॥੧॥
जह जानो सो चीति न आवै अह्मबुधि भए आंधे ॥१॥
Jah jāno so cẖīṯ na āvai ahaʼn▫buḏẖ bẖa▫e āʼnḏẖe. ||1||
Whither they have to go that they mind not and through haughty intellect they have gone blind.
|
ਮਨ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਕਿਉ ਨ ਅਰਾਧੇ ॥
मन बैरागी किउ न अराधे ॥
Man bairāgī ki▫o na arāḏẖe.
Becoming renouncer O man why rememberest thou not the Lord?
|
ਕਾਚ ਕੋਠਰੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਬਸਤਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਖੈ ਕੀ ਬਿਆਧੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
काच कोठरी माहि तूं बसता संगि सगल बिखै की बिआधे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Kācẖ koṯẖrī māhi ṯūʼn basṯā sang sagal bikẖai kī bi▫āḏẖe. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Thou abidest in the frail chamber where the diseases of all the sins are with thee. Pause.
|
ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਤ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਬਿਹਾਵੈ ਪਲੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਛੀਜੈ ਅਰਜਾਧੇ ॥
मेरी मेरी करत दिनु रैनि बिहावै पलु खिनु छीजै अरजाधे ॥
Merī merī karaṯ ḏin rain bihāvai pal kẖin cẖẖījai arjāḏẖe.
Claiming as mine, mine the days and nights pass away and every moment and trice thy life is wearing off.
